In the operating room, Jared Quinn finally saw his long-awaited daughter, very small, weighing only 5.7 pounds, crying loudly.
Strangely, when Jared held her, the little one immediately stopped crying, as if she knew who was holding her.
Jared's way of holding the baby was quite awkward, his strong arms stiff, afraid to move, fearing he might hurt his little daughter, her tiny arms and legs looked so fragile.
"Wrap her up and take her out," Jared handed the baby to the nurse.
"Okay."
"Does it still hurt?" Jared held Melody Thorne's hand tightly.
"It hurts..." Melody said.
Dr. Mo: "..."
Was she acting coy? The anesthesia hadn't worn off yet, how could it hurt?
"How did you perform the surgery?" Jared shot a glance, "Why does she hurt so much?"
"I was tricking you," Melody laughed like a child sneaking candy.
Jared kept whispering something by her ear to distract her, as Dr. Mo smoothly stitched up Melody Thorne's wound.
