A shrill alarm blared across Marineford, the Marine Headquarters, filling the base with palpable tension and confusion. Marines scrambled, questioning the source of the alarm and worrying about their lack of defense, as the Admirals and the elite forces had already departed for the New World. Others reassured them, noting that Fleet Admiral Akainu, Vice Admiral Garp, and Sengoku remained at the base to hold the line.
Inside the Fleet Admiral's office, Akainu remained unnervingly calm despite the persistent sirens. When asked about potential defenses, Akainu noted that Tsuru and Borsalino had already left, leaving few options to reach Impel Down in time. The situation at the prison remained murky; they had received a distress signal before losing all contact. The high-ranking officers considered the possibility of an attack by the Revolutionary Army, as the movements of the Emperors were already accounted for in the New World. Ultimately, Akainu ordered the Gates of Justice to be sealed shut under any circumstances.
Meanwhile, in the Calm Belt, Impel Down lay in ruins. The massive structure had crashed into the sea, splashing waves dozens of meters high before sinking beneath the surface. Escaped prisoners had seized eight Marine warships and were beginning to navigate the giant vessels.
Above them, the sky was dominated by an enormous, serpentine figure. Many prisoners marveled at the sight of Kaido of the Beasts, shocked to discover that one of the Four Emperors had actually come to rescue them. On one of the warships, Doflamingo—now freed from his prison uniform and shackles—looked on with a manic, crazed smile. He stared at his former captor, Magellan, who now lay defeated and shackled.
Magellan's defeat had been instantaneous. When Kaido destroyed Impel Down to reach Level 6, the resulting dragon roar was so powerful that it deafened and disoriented the Deputy Warden, causing him to collapse, bleeding and unconscious. Doflamingo watched this display of overwhelming power with profound shock; while he had seen Kaido's dragon form before, the creature currently soaring above was of an entirely different scale, rivaling the legendary giant elephant Zunesha or the deepest monsters of the Calm Belt.
Kaido's booming voice echoed from the heavens: "Doffy, do you know why I specifically came to save you?". Doflamingo, trembling under the immense pressure of the Emperor's presence, realized his value extended far beyond the underground trades he once controlled.
The answer came with chilling coldness: "I need you to lead the way, to take me to Holy Land Mary Geoise, to find that guy who truly rules this world. This world's master needs to be replaced".
A mix of terror and intoxicating excitement flashed across Doflamingo's face. "Fufufufu, excellent, excellent! No problem, Lord Kaido, I am willing to lead the way for you and become your most loyal pawn".
Kaido accepted his loyalty and charged Doflamingo with organizing the escaped prisoners, equipping them, and preparing them for the great battle ahead.
