"I'm feeling pretty good about the exam," Blake said, "how about you Lucious?"
"I feel pretty good about the exam, but I'm not too sure about the second test. I'm confident that I can get a perfect score on the first test and get in the top 10 of the third however, I don't have the best personal power."
"I'm sure you'll do well," he said as he patted my shoulder. "You are still strong even if it isn't your specialty."
"Thanks, I'm sure you'll do good as well"
As we continued to talk, everyone got on the bus, and it started. After around 20 minutes we arrived at the formation, and with a flash we were all teleported to a giant hall.
We were surrounded by many students with various different uniforms and seemed to be from different schools. The only weird thing was that the principle was nowhere to be seen.
Out of boredom I started to look around and noticed students teleporting to various empty areas, but the main thing that caught my attention was a giant stage. It was nearly 5 meters off the ground and covered in various symbols which gave it an almost intimidating aura.
Time passed as I continued to observe the stage and everyone arrived. Soon after a figure appeared on the stage.
They were a man with short black hair wearing a black cloak. The right side of their face was covered in various scars, yet it didn't take away from their looks, if anything it gave him a type of heroic air.
Once he appeared I overheard various people whispering. Apparently, he was an extremely powerful general and was considered one of the most powerful individuals in the empire.
After he reached the middle of the stage everyone went quiet and he started to speak.
"Welcome, I will be the overseer of your exam this year," he said in a magnetic voice. "All of you should have already gone over the contents of the exam so I won't repeat that. You just need to remember to do your best as this exam will determine your starting point within this society. With that said the first exam will begin."
Suddenly space started to twist, and I found myself at a desk with a stack of 30 papers in front of me. I looked around but there was no one else.
'I guess I should just start the exam?'
'Alright,' I thought as I looked at the first question. 'What's all the ranks listed in order?'
'Easy! Novice, apprentice, advance, master, general, ruler, king, emperor, demigod, and god.'
'Second question, What's the highest rank ever reached?'
'The highest rank reached was the emperor rank.'
'Now that I think about it, how do we know about the demigod and god rank if the highest reached is the emperor?'
'I'll just think about it later.'
With that distracting thought gone I focused back on the exam.

After 2 and half hours the first test was completed.
Space twisted again, and I found myself in a blank training room with white walls and floors.
A voice suddenly resonated through the room feeling like it came from everywhere at once. "The second test will now begin. You will face simulated enemies of increasing difficulty. You will not die so you don't have to worry."
A blue light instantly condensed into a goblin as a robotic voice made an announcement.
"Enemy: level 5, common rank, novice."
"Begin in 3, 2, 1."
Fire instantly condensed into a spear and killed them.
"That was easy."
"Enemy: level 5, rare rank, novice."
"Begin in 3, 2, 1."

.
.
"Enemy: level 25, legendary rank, apprentice."
"Begin in 3, 2, 1."
Suddenly a black flash charged at me catching me off guard.
I quickly dodged, and I managed to get a good look at the enemy in front of me. It appeared to be a living shadow only having the vague shape of an animal.
I summoned the chains of despair and shot it towards them, but it was ineffective. It was as if the chains passed right through them.
No.
The shadow moved its body around the chain.
Seeing this I tried magic instead. I created various types of magic spears and fired it at them. Ice, fire, water, air, earth, lightning, darkness, light, and more.
After firing that much magic I noticed a pattern. Similar to physical attacks they could shift their body around most of the magic, but it wasn't the case for fire, lightning, and light magic.
'It's weak against light!'
After I figured this out, I decided to use light magic. It might have been my weakest area, but it caused the most damage.
Balls of light manifested around the room, but mere moments after they exploded flooding the room with light.
As the light disappeared, I looked around the room but didn't see anything. Even with this, there wasn't a notification about the next round so I was still cautious.
I saw a black shadow in the corner of my eye and quickly turned around and fired a light spear towards them, but it went through them without causing damage.
'Damn! It's a distraction!'
I tried to turn around feeling a sense of danger, but I wasn't quick enough and a shadow pierced through my chest.
"The test has ended."
"Score: level 25, legendary rank, apprentice, 95% damage."
"Current rank: 13"
'I was so close!'
'Well, I didn't expect to have the best score on this test, so it's fine.'
As I waited for the final test I noticed my rank gradually decrease, going from 13 to 18, 21, 27, and eventually 33.
Just as I was starting to grow bored of waiting, I was once again in the hall.
I looked around at the familiar scene as I grew curious why I was here again. Afterall, I was just taken to the next testing area before.
The overseer suddenly appeared on stage again as he began to speak.
"Before you all take the final test there are a few things I wanted to remind you. First is that the test will last 24 hours but you have the option to quit at any time. Second is that you will gain points for each creature killed, being the creature's level multiplied by a factor determined by its race rank. And third… you are not allowed to kill or cripple other participants." He said with his voice becoming serious. "With that done the third test will now begin."
With the wave of his hand, I found myself in the middle of a forest with nothing around me except for trees.
