Chapter 306: Disturbance in the Divine Realm
"Your Majesty, though your plan is clever, we must also be wary of the soul beasts truly breaching humanity's defensive lines."
"In my view, it would be wiser to send someone to contact the Evil Emperor. Promise him great benefits and persuade him to strike Shrek Academy first."
The Evil Emperor's bloodlust and madness were exactly what they could exploit.
Jing Hongchen pushed up his crystal glasses, the lenses reflecting a faint bluish glow.
As the Hall Master of Mingde Hall, he had met countless kinds of people over many years—his mind meticulous to the finest thread.
"The Evil Emperor is both greedy and cruel. That makes him highly predictable. A few enticing promises should be enough to sway him."
"Once he attacks, regardless of success or failure, Shrek will suffer a major blow."
"Then, we can appear as saviors, gather support, and unify the human race under Your Majesty's banner. When that happens, Douluo Continent will naturally come under your control."
Xu Tianran slammed his hand onto the table, eyes gleaming with ambition. The energy crystals above the palace hall blazed brighter in response to his excitement.
"Agreed! I'll go to the Demonic Forest myself—I must secure the Evil Emperor's cooperation!"
Hearing this, Jing Hongchen's expression shifted to alarm. He quickly spoke up in protest.
"Your Majesty, you are the keystone of the Sun and Moon Empire. There is absolutely no need for you to go personally."
"The Evil Emperor has already surpassed the eighty-thousand-year mark. His spiritual power is both strange and lethal—without defenses, even an Ultimate Douluo cannot stand before him."
These warnings were well-founded.
Although the Evil Emperor rarely displayed his full strength, the rumors alone were enough to confirm his terrifying might.
He stood at the level of an eighty-thousand-year soul beast, his bloodline perhaps not as pure as Emperor Tian's, but his battle power was no less—in fact, against humans, he was even more dangerous.
Xu Tianran smiled thinly. "Fortune favors the bold. If we wish to enlist his help, only a personal visit will show our sincerity."
"Do not worry. With my current strength, if I wish to escape, even the Evil Emperor cannot stop me."
"Besides, the incomplete miniature tower artifact I obtained before has already become part of my martial soul. It can to some extent shield my mental sea from psychic intrusion—it restrains the Evil Emperor's ability quite well."
A brief flicker of hesitation crossed his face, but he soon steadied himself, having already made up his mind.
This was an affair affecting the very future of the Sun and Moon Empire—he would feel safer handling it himself.
"In that case, allow me to accompany you. I will bring the Tenth-Level Soul Tool—its power should help us avoid unforeseen danger."
Jing Hongchen exhaled a long sigh. His reasoning was sound: with the tenth-level soul tool's protection and combined strength, the two of them could retreat safely even if the meeting soured.
"Very well."
Xu Tianran accepted without argument. He knew the artifact's extraordinary power—an extra layer of protection never hurt.
…
In the Divine Realm, within a temple wreathed in clouds, the gods had assembled.
At the center of the grand hall hovered a massive water mirror. Within it lay a miniature projection of the Douluo Continent—yet its edges were now shrouded in a faint gray miasma.
The once-pure flow of faith energy rippled violently, unstable and dissonant.
"Everyone," spoke the God of Kindness, her voice carrying divine authority, "the fluctuations within the power of faith on Douluo Continent have continued for half a month."
"This disturbance is not only chaotic—it carries a faint hunger, a devouring intent. Even the faith channels linking our realm to theirs are being disrupted."
The God of Destruction frowned, dark divine energy coiling around his fingertips.
"The power of faith is born from the belief of lower beings. Such disturbances are never incidental. If left unchecked, this could threaten the balance between the realms, even spark an unknown catastrophe."
At his words, every god present grew alert.
Tang San's expression darkened.
His bond to Douluo Continent surpassed that of any other deity—it was not just his birthplace, but also where his loved ones and his legacy remained.
He spoke gravely. "Allow me to descend. I know that world best. The origin of this disturbance may be tied to the unknown presence that attacked me before. I am the most suitable to investigate."
The gods exchanged glances. The Goddess of Life said softly, "Tang San, are you aware of the risk? The laws of the Divine Realm forbid deities from interfering directly with the lower worlds—especially you, who once ruled there. A rash descent could bring unnecessary consequences."
"I understand."
Tang San nodded calmly. "But as the God of Destruction said, if this continues, living beings on Douluo Continent will suffer greatly."
"I will descend only as a divine projection—to observe, not intervene with power."
The gods meditated in silence before the God of Kindness finally spoke, her tone measured. "Very well. Do as you must, but if the situation grows uncontrollable, return to the Divine Realm immediately."
"I advise you, Tang San—do not let emotion sway you again. If your journey stirs new chaos, the responsibility will be yours alone."
Without a word, Tang San turned and departed.
He could feel the lingering, complex gazes of the four God Kings behind him—perhaps they considered him expendable, sending a once-wounded deity to investigate a growing threat like a pawn.
But Tang San cared little. Douluo Continent's safety mattered far more than their doubts or politics.
And he was determined to uncover the true cause behind the corruption of faith energy.
A burst of light enveloped him as his divine consciousness, fused with a sliver of his origin power, pierced the barrier between the realms.
…
After his departure, the remaining God Kings appeared again. The Evil God King smirked faintly. "Tell me, do you think Tang San will run into that mysterious Star Auction Pavilion again?"
"Unlikely," the Goddess of Life replied softly. "Tang San is cautious to a fault. After what happened last time—and given his current weakened state—he wouldn't provoke them again unless he sought death."
"Regardless of his safety," she continued, "our priority is resolving the turmoil in Douluo Continent's faith energy."
"I sense that its world-origin is being invaded by an unknown energy—an energy intertwined with faith itself. To eliminate it, we may have to erase faith energy entirely."
"If that happens, both Douluo Continent and the Divine Realm will suffer upheaval. We must act carefully and as gently as possible, purging the corruption without shattering the balance."
The God of Destruction gazed grimly toward the mirror image of Douluo Continent.
In his heart, he suspected that only one entity could orchestrate such phenomena—
the Star Auction Pavilion.
No one within the Divine Realm could achieve this. On the lower plane, only that mysterious organization had the capability to manipulate forces of such magnitude.
"A turbulent time indeed," the Goddess of Kindness murmured. "Tang San's mother still guards the plane's core of Douluo Continent. Perhaps he can learn what truly happened. Let us hope the situation is not as dire as we fear."
The gods silently watched the visions within the water mirror for several moments more. Then, one by one, the four King Gods vanished from the hall, their forms dissolving into divine mist.
