Chapter 55 - Parent–Teacher Meeting

The Black Wings Void

The space didn't exist so much as it refused to.

No sky. No ground. Just drifting black feathers and fractured reflections of moments that never fully happened.

Dame Dedtime stood unmoving, hands folded behind her back, clocks frozen mid-tick around her like obedient servants.

McKraken loomed nearby, tentacles coiled, the sea itself whispering faintly around his massive form.

And in front of them—

Jorogumo.

A towering spider-like Yo-kai, pale skin stretched flawless and cold, six crimson eyes burning with sharp intelligence. Her dark purple hair was arranged in a traditional geisha style, eight golden hairpins fanning out like spider legs. A violet kimono draped over her form, black web-patterns shifting subtly beneath the fabric as if fate itself was caught there.

[Insert image of Jorogumo]

She stared at them.

Then she snapped.

"No. No. No—absolutely not."

Her voice cracked through the Void like a blade striking glass.

"Listen to me very carefully, Squid and Time Girl," Jorogumo hissed, all humor gone. "I am not touching that child."

McKraken's eyes narrowed. "You're refusing an Overseer directive?"

"I'm refusing suicide," she shot back.

She stepped forward, every movement precise, furious—but controlled.

"I am not helping you erase Nate Adam's bloodline. Not now. Not ever. Not in any timeline."

Dame Dedtime finally spoke, her voice calm, almost gentle.

"Your role is to weave fate. This should be trivial."

Jorogumo laughed—short, sharp, and humorless.

"Trivial?"

She pointed, one clawed finger trembling—not with fear, but restrained outrage.

"That boy is a Fix Point."

Silence.

"He is Unifying the Yokai Clans. He reshaped alliances. He altered the growth curves of devils, spirits, and humans alike. His bonds are no longer threads—"

She clenched her hand.

"—they're anchors."

McKraken scoffed. "Everything has a breaking point."

"Yes," Jorogumo snapped back, eyes blazing. "Reality does. That's exactly my point."

She turned toward Dame Dedtime.

"Erase his bloodline, and you don't get a clean timeline. You get fractures. Paradoxes. Feedback storms. Entire destinies collapsing into each other."

Her voice dropped.

"Even I don't know how bad it gets after that."

Dame Dedtime's clocks trembled.

"You're saying he's untouchable."

"I'm saying," Jorogumo corrected coldly, "that touching him breaks the loom."

She straightened, kimono settling, fury giving way to icy certainty.

"The Overseer wants control, not annihilation. And this—" she gestured sharply, "—this fucks up reality."

She turned away.

"If you push this, I'm out. I won't be the one who rips the world apart just to prove a point."

The Void grew heavier.

Somewhere far above, unseen—

An eye opened halfway.

And then slowly closed again.

A single white feather drifted down through the Void.

It didn't burn.

It didn't decay.

It simply fell—slow, deliberate.

Everyone froze.

McKraken tilted his massive head upward.

Dame Dedtime's clocks resumed ticking… just once.

Jorogumo looked up, lips curling into a thin, knowing smile.

"…Even the Overseer agrees with me."

The feather dissolved before it touched the ground.

No objections followed.

The matter was settled.

Meanwhile — Y Academy

Nate stared at the notice board like it had personally offended him.

"…Parent–Teacher meeting. Great."

Kunou blinked. "But nobody has class today."

Kurumu sighed dramatically, slumping against Nate's shoulder.

"You'd think that means extra cuddle time."

She straightened, mimicking an adult tone.

"But no. We come to school, smile politely, and prove we're model students to our parents."

Nate glanced at her. "Today's the first time I'm meeting your mom, right?"

Kurumu nodded, suddenly very serious.

"Yes. She's a full-grown succubus."

She leaned in, eyes sharp.

"Do. Not. Let her seduce you."

Nate chuckled, cupped her cheek, and kissed her without hesitation.

"You're the only succubus for me."

Kurumu's face went bright red instantly.

"…I'm holding you to that."

Kunou watched from the side, tails swaying, smiling softly.

Inside Nate's head, a thought passed quietly:

I've faced oni calamities, god-tier politics, and Very powerful Yokai'.

But today?

'Today might actually be dangerous.'

Nate spotted Moka near the courtyard and walked over, hands in his pockets.

"Hey, Moka."

She turned, blinking once. "Oh… Nate."

He tilted his head slightly. "So. Your parents are coming today?"

Moka hesitated, then looked away. "…Maybe."

That alone told him a lot.

Nate smiled, relaxed but alert.

'That's different,' he thought.

'In canon, they never showed up… then again, they were barely written back then.'

Out loud, he said casually, "So I finally get to meet the Vampire King and Queen."

Moka stiffened.

Her pink-haired form fidgeted, fingers twisting together. "…You say that like it's nothing."

Nate shrugged. "I've met oni royalty, fox gods, devil nobles."

Then, with a grin, "Vampire parents just means better manners and sharper teeth."

Moka laughed despite herself, then sighed. "My father is… strict."

Kunou, who had quietly walked up beside Nate, looked at Moka curiously.

"Is he strong?"

Moka nodded slowly. "Very."

Kurumu popped in from behind Nate, hands on her hips.

"Oh, great. Another overprotective parent."

Mizore added flatly, "Statistically, this will end with intimidation."

Blizzaria crossed her arms. "Or blood pressure issues."

Moka glanced at Nate again. "You're not… nervous?"

Nate thought about it for half a second.

'Devil politics.

Hero clans.

Yokai Clans.

His Hero Faction'

He smiled warmly.

"A little. But not the bad kind."

He met her eyes. "Your parents matter to you. That's enough reason to take this seriously."

Moka's expression softened.

"…Thank you."

At that moment, the school gates creaked open.

A pressure rolled through Y Academy—not hostile, but ancient and heavy.

Several students froze.

Teachers straightened.

And somewhere deep in the school, old protective barriers hummed awake.

Nate's eyes sharpened slightly.

'Yep,' he thought calmly.

'That's vampire royalty.'

Parent–Teacher Meeting had officially begun.

Nate looked at Moka. "So, what will your parents think of meetings me"

Moka looked at him. "They will think your True Ancestors Level".

Nate just blinked. 'Did she just say a fate term?'

Moka looked at him. "Are you ok?"

Nate looked at her. "You used a new word".

Moka cleared. "The Vampire have power rankings, they are".

"Idel Blood

Successors

Lower Ranks

Dead Apostle

True Ancestor

Types" she finished

Hailey then spoke. "So like in Yokai/Devil Terms what does that make.

E → C for Low Class,

B for Middle Class,

A → SS for High Class,

SSS → Z for Ultimate Class,

ZZ → UZ for Satan Class,

and finally, UZ+ for Superclass.".

Nate tilted his head slightly. "Okay… translate that for us non-vampires."

Moka took a breath and explained, slow and careful.

"Idel Blood are civilians. No combat value.

Successors are trained nobles, future leaders.

Lower Ranks are soldiers and enforcers.

Dead Apostles are monsters—powerful, unstable.

True Ancestors are… legends. The ones stories are built around.

And Types…" She paused. "Those are walking disasters."

Hailey's eyes lit up immediately. "Alright, numbers time."

She ticked them off on her fingers.

"Idel Blood: E to D.

Successors: C to B.

Lower Ranks: A to SS.

Dead Apostle: SSS to low Z.

True Ancestor: solid Z to ZZZ."

She looked straight at Nate.

"And Types?"

"…UZ and above."

There was a short silence.

Kurumu slowly turned her head toward Nate. "So your first impression is… what, exactly?"

Moka swallowed. "My parents will assume he's at least True Ancestor tier."

Nate blinked once.

Then twice.

"…That's generous".

And somewhere, far away, fate adjusted itself—again—around Nate Adam, whether it liked it or not.

The air shifted again.

Not violently—

authoritatively.

Kunou's ears twitched beneath her illusion, tails stiffening for half a second.

"…Mother is here."

Nate nodded without hesitation. "Yasaka just crossed the school gate."

Another presence followed immediately—warm, sharp, familiar.

"…Ah," Nate muttered. "Mom."

Kunou smiled softly. "Yes. Aunt Lily arrived."

A smaller ripple passed through the grounds, steady and human—but reinforced by something else.

"And Dad's here too," Nate added.

Mizore's breath fogged faintly in the air. "Mother… and Father have arrived."

Nate felt it then—an odd sense of déjà vu.

'This is starting to feel way less DxD… and way more Rosario + Vampire.'

Before he could finish the thought—

A wave of charm energy rolled through the courtyard.

Kurumu gasped and instantly latched onto Nate's arm. "My mom's here."

He gently patted her head, voice calm. "You're the only succubus for me."

Kurumu melted on the spot.

Then—

Everything stopped.

The pressure that followed didn't push.

It commanded.

Students staggered. Some teachers dropped to one knee. Barriers around the campus flared instinctively, creaking under the weight of something ancient.

Hailey braced herself, breathing hard. "T-that pressure… that's—"

Fumika's face went pale. "No… it can't be…"

Nate's eyes widened, pupils tightening.

"…Enma."

The name alone carried weight.

Silence swallowed the courtyard.

Nate swallowed once. "That was Enma."

Kunou stared at him. "The Judge?"

Nate nodded slowly. "…Which means one thing."

His gaze lifted toward the school buildings, toward a presence that felt old, measured, and absolute.

"He has a child attending this school."

Somewhere on campus, a door slid open.

And a student who had always seemed… normal

was about to stop being that entirely.

Nate exhaled, equal parts amused and resigned.

"…Yeah. This parent-teacher meeting just turned legendary."

Fumika swallowed hard.

"The Judge of the Underworld is here… then who's his kid?"

Nate rubbed his temple, already piecing it together.

"Don't we have a girl here who's… weirdly American? Even though she's Japanese?"

Moka blinked—then snapped her fingers.

"…Emma."

She quickly pulled out her phone.

"She's in my class."

Moka turned the screen toward them.

The photo showed a blonde girl with sharp golden eyes, hugging a small rabbit-like creature. She looked normal—too normal.

The hallway felt colder.

Nate froze.

"…What's her last name?"

Moka hesitated for half a second.

"Daiouji."

The color drained from Fumika's face.

"…That's Enma's family name."

Dead silence.

Kunou tilted her head innocently.

"So… the ruler who judges all souls… packed his daughter a lunch and sent her to school?"

Kurumu whispered, horrified,

"Why does that sound scarier than it should?"

Mizore stared at the phone.

"She feels… gentle. But her aura—"

Nate finished the thought.

"—is sealed so tightly even Hell itself can't read it."

A distant bell rang.

Somewhere on campus, the pressure shifted.

Nate straightened, eyes sharp.

"…Everyone, behave. Starting now."

He paused, then muttered:

"Because if Enma's here as a parent—

this isn't a visit."

It was an inspection.

Emma Daiouji — POV

Emma Daiouji froze mid-step.

Not because someone called her name.

Not because a teacher yelled.

But because the air changed.

The hallway didn't shake. It didn't explode.

It submitted.

Every supernatural presence in the building—demons, yokai, vampire, spirit—went quiet all at once. Like the world itself had just been told to lower its voice.

Emma's fingers tightened around the small rabbit in her arms.

"…No."

She felt it again.

That weight.

That pressure that didn't crush—it judged.

Her golden eyes widened.

'No no no no no—'

She had planned this perfectly.

She used a human surname.

She sealed her aura tighter than most Demon Lords.

She told her father she was "studying abroad."

She made sure he never saw the school calendar.

She even erased the Parent–Teacher Meeting notice from the house records.

So why—

Another wave rolled through the building.

Not power.

Authority.

Emma's breath hitched.

"…Dad."

Students around her staggered. Some whispered. Some prayed. Some instinctively bowed without knowing why.

Emma backed into the wall, heart pounding.

Every single supernatural here can feel him.

That meant—

Demon's knew.

Yokai knew.

Vampires knew.

Ancient things that hadn't moved in centuries just noticed.

Her identity wasn't hidden anymore.

Emma Daiouji wasn't "that foreign girl with good grades."

She was—

The Judge's daughter.

The rabbit in her arms squeaked softly.

"I told you not to tell him," Emma whispered, half to herself, half to fate. "I told everyone not to—"

Her phone vibrated.

Once.

She didn't need to look.

She already knew the message.

Father:

I have arrived.

Emma slid down the wall and covered her face with one hand.

"…I'm dead," she muttered.

Then, bitterly—

"No. Worse."

She lifted her head, eyes sharp despite the panic.

"I'm about to be introduced."

Somewhere else in the school, multiple powerhouses were already connecting the dots.

And Emma Daiouji knew one terrifying truth:

Once Enma Daiouji entered the campus—

There would be no pretending anymore.

Parent–Teacher Meeting hadn't just become dangerous.

It had become historic.
