Dydra stepped out of the barn with a basket of eggs balanced carefully in her hands. As usual, her red hair had been gathered into a neat bun beneath the scarf tied over her head. She hummed quietly to herself as she made her way toward the kitchen entrance, enjoying the calm of the morning.
She had almost reached the door when someone suddenly called her name.
"Dydra!"
She turned at the sound of the familiar voice and barely had time to react before Evelyn came rushing toward her with her arms spread wide. The maiden threw them around Dydra in an excited embrace, nearly knocking the basket from her hands.
Dydra quickly caught it before any of the eggs could fall.
Evelyn pulled away, a gasp escaping her when she realized what she had almost done.
"I sincerely apologize!" she said, her eyes immediately dropping to the basket.
"No worries. No damage was done," Dydra reassured her with a soft smile.
