No one moved. No one even dared to breathe.
The monstrous beast stood nearly six meters tall, its enormous body blocking the path ahead. Its golden fur, marked with thick black stripes, shimmered beneath the morning sunlight, while its serpent-like tail slowly swayed behind it, crushing bushes and saplings with every movement. Its crimson eyes stared unblinkingly at the students, and the low growl rumbling from its throat made the very air vibrate around them.
Fear spread through the group like wildfire. Several students instinctively stepped backward, their grips tightening around the crude weapons they had spent days crafting. Wooden spears with sharpened stone tips, heavy clubs carved from tree branches, and rough stone axes suddenly felt pitiful against a creature that looked capable of tearing apart trees with a single swipe.

Javier stepped beside Leonard with a thick wooden club resting on his shoulder. Mateo tightened his grip on his sharpened spear and moved beside Javier, while Ravi let out a nervous laugh as he picked up another spear from the ground.
"Guess running isn't an option anymore."
Behind them, Meera quickly gathered the remaining students. "Ishita, Hana, Nikita, and Riya—stay behind us. If anyone gets injured, pull them back immediately. Don't panic."
Although fear was visible on every face, no one tried to run.
The beast simply watched them.
Its crimson eyes slowly shifted from one student to another, almost as if it were deciding which prey to hunt first.
Then, without warning, it let out a deafening roar.
"ROOOOOAAAAARRRRR!!"

Leonard rushed first, driving his sharpened wooden spear straight toward the beast's shoulder. The weapon struck with a dull thud, barely piercing the creature's incredibly thick hide.
Leonard's eyes widened in disbelief.
"What?!"
Before he could react, the beast swung one of its massive forelegs. Leonard threw himself sideways just as enormous claws smashed into the ground where he had been standing. The impact sent dirt and shattered rocks flying in every direction.
Javier saw his chance. With a battle cry, he charged from the side and swung his heavy wooden club with every ounce of strength he possessed. The club slammed into the beast's hind leg with a loud crack.
The creature barely reacted.
Instead, its serpent-like tail whipped through the air with terrifying speed.
"LOOK OUT!" Mateo shouted.
The warning came too late.
The tail slammed into Javier's chest, launching him several meters through the air before he crashed onto the ground, rolling across the dirt.
"Javier!" Mateo rushed toward him.
Javier groaned painfully before forcing himself into a sitting position. "I'm... still alive," he muttered, struggling to catch his breath.
Meanwhile, Abhimanyu sprinted toward the beast's flank.
"Now!" he shouted.
Aarav immediately understood.
The two attacked from opposite sides, thrusting their sharpened stone spears simultaneously. One struck the creature's shoulder deeply enough to draw a thin stream of dark blood, while the other scraped painfully along its ribs.
The beast roared in fury.

Before anyone could react, the creature flung him through the air.

He crashed violently into the trunk of a large tree before collapsing to the ground.
Thankfully, he remained conscious.
"I-I'm okay..." he groaned weakly.
Meera and Hana immediately ran toward him. Together they dragged him behind the others before the beast could attack again.
The monster lowered its head and let out another furious roar.
Its patience had vanished.
It was no longer playing with its prey.
It wanted to kill.
Its powerful muscles tightened as it crouched low to the ground.
Abhimanyu's instincts screamed at him.
"Everyone!" he shouted. "Spread out!"

The beast exploded forward with unbelievable speed, crashing straight through their formation like an unstoppable force.
