Chapter 295 - Is This Magneto's True Power? Controlling the Earth's Magnetic Field and Wiping Out Humanity!

*London Sanctum**

"We worked our butts off to take them down, and she just swoops in to claim the victory?"

"Is that fair?"

"Is that even right?!"

Tony bitterly accused Strange.

Even if it was the Ancient One, even if she was a powerhouse on Odin's level, this was still too overbearing!

"It's... somewhat inappropriate," Strange admitted, shrugging helplessly. "But who are we to argue with the Sorcerer Supreme?"

Truth be told, Strange didn't really want to hand Kaecilius and his followers over to Tony either. He knew S.H.I.E.L.D. would inevitably get involved, complicating matters.

Yet Tony and Vision had played such crucial roles in the battle!

Strange was still trying to figure out how to broach the subject when the Ancient One had already taken care of everything.

At least that saved him the trouble of having to explain.

"Fine, you're right. The Ancient One is the Sorcerer Supreme," Tony conceded, shaking his head in resignation.

Though reluctant, Tony had no choice but to silently accept the situation.

His gaze then turned to the remaining henchmen.

*You took Kaecilius, but what about these lackeys?*

*Buzz!*

But before the thought could even form in Tony's mind, dazzling spatial portals erupted in front of the henchmen.

With a single movement, they vanished—dead or alive—teleported away.

The speed and suddenness left Tony no time to react.

Tony: "..."

*She didn't leave a single one behind!*

*That old woman is way too overbearing!*

"Since it's over, I think we should head back."

Not that Tony cared much about this. Nick Fury was the one who should be truly frustrated.

After a moment of awkwardness, the Playboy bid Strange farewell.

Strange opened another portal, sending Tony and Vision back to their base.

"Everyone, the matter is resolved. No need for further mobilization."

Of course, Strange also notified the other Diary holders in the group chat.

Tony also briefed Nick Fury and the others on the situation.

While the failure to capture any of Kaecilius's followers left Egghead slightly disappointed, the resolution of this major threat was ultimately a welcome development for everyone.

"Alright, team, operation canceled!"

Nick Fury immediately disbanded the assembled Avengers.

"Jarvis, disengage!"

The Playboy had already returned to the top floor of Stark Tower.

At his command, the armor's components whirred and clicked as they automatically opened a "seam."

Tony's dashing figure reappeared in the luxurious hall.

He had just poured himself a glass of whiskey and hadn't even taken a sip when his expression shifted.

He had just clearly sensed it—the Diary had updated!

The Playboy didn't waste any time, setting down his glass and sinking into the sofa.

Leaning back comfortably, he accessed the Diary interface.

The latest entry immediately flooded Tony's mind.

Tony felt a wave of surprise.

*Charles and the others actually invaded the Pentagon and rescued Magneto?*

Tony and the others already had a basic understanding of Magneto. They knew he was a Mutant with extreme methods, and very likely a villain. It wasn't particularly surprising that such a person would be held at the Pentagon or somewhere similar.

But Professor X was an absolute hero! The fact that he would invade the Pentagon was indeed surprising to Tony.

Moreover, the Diary had made it clear: Professor X and Magneto had been enemies for their entire lives! They only joined forces to fight the Sentinel Robots together fifty years later when faced with that threat.

So why would they be rescuing Magneto now?

Tony soon found the answer.

Judging by the tone of the Diary, Professor X's decision to rescue his lifelong enemy, Magneto, was clearly connected to the "Days of Future Past" plan.

Regardless of whatever plans Professor X and Magneto might have devised in the future, or how they intended to prevent Raven's DNA from falling into the military's hands, Magneto in the past seemed to have played a crucial role.

This explained why Wolverine, traveling back from fifty years in the future, had persuaded Professor X to rescue Magneto together.

The logic wasn't complicated; he was sure he was right.

So it was true: just as Professor X and Magneto had teamed up fifty years later, they had also joined forces fifty years earlier.

But there was one thing.

From what Zhou Cheng implied, Magneto was likely planning to stir up trouble during this "Future Past" mission!

Playboy had no idea what kind of trouble he might cause, but the fact that Magneto had once tried to nuke humanity...

*Good grief!*

*Is this really Magneto?*

Tony was genuinely taken aback.

He had long suspected Magneto would be a major villain, otherwise he wouldn't have clashed so many times with the X-Men and the Avengers.

But he never could have imagined that Magneto would do something so horrific!

*A nuclear bomb!*

*Did that guy plan to wipe out all of humanity?*

*Is he that level of supervillain?*

"I knew it!"

**X-Men Universe.**

A Blackbird fighter jet was silently weaving through the clouds, completely undetected.

Inside were three passengers: Professor X, Magneto, and Wolverine—three of the most powerful mutants.

And Hank?

Unsurprisingly, he was at the controls, piloting the plane.

Uncle Wolf sat by the window, puffing on a cigar and exhaling thick clouds of smoke.

Professor X and Magneto were seated together, engaged in a game of chess.

Magneto had just moved a piece when Charles's expression flickered slightly. He couldn't resist casting an odd glance at his old comrade.

*Indeed, rescuing Erik was a mistake!*

When Wolverine had proposed the plan, Charles had voiced considerable reservations. After all, Erik was never one to stay out of trouble.

Yet, considering that the plan had been devised by his future self, Charles had reluctantly suppressed his concerns and chosen to trust that future version.

But now, seeing this, he realized he had trusted too soon. *Erik is definitely up to something again!*

The Diary had been right all along. Given everything Erik had done, how could he possibly change?

*I shouldn't have been so easily convinced!*

If it were in the past, it wouldn't matter. His powers were still intact. Even if Erik escaped, he wouldn't be a real threat without his helmet.

But now?

His powers were gone!

As this thought struck him, Charles's expression grew even more troubled.

"What's wrong, Charles?"

Erik, keenly noticing the subtle shift in Charles's expression, couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Charles shook his head and stood up. "I might just be tired. I'm going to rest for a bit."

He walked to an empty seat nearby, leaned back, and closed his eyes to rest.

On the surface, he was resting. In reality, he was secretly skimming the Diary for spoilers.

Now that he was powerless to stop Erik, he was even more desperate to glean as much information as possible from the Diary to formulate a targeted strategy.

"Want to play a game, Logan?" Erik asked without much thought, turning to Wolverine.

"That's not my style," Wolverine replied without hesitation, unwilling to engage in something as dull as chess.

Magneto paid little attention, becoming engrossed in studying the chessboard before him.

After being imprisoned for so long in the Pentagon's secret prison, Magneto was desperate for some diversion.

Even if it was just to entertain himself.

*Magneto was imprisoned in Auschwitz Concentration Camp from childhood and witnessed his mother's murder firsthand. How could such a trauma ever be easily erased?*

*Especially when human governments have consistently persecuted Mutants.*

*The Cuban Missile Crisis is a prime example. Mutants saved the world, yet the first thing humanity did was try to eliminate them.*

*For years, they've been cruelly experimenting on Mutants and even developing Sentinel Robots specifically designed to kill them.*

*How could Magneto not be enraged?*

*True, his methods are extreme, but they're still understandable.*

*Ah, this!*

*Magneto's past was actually this cruel and tragic?*

*To be honest, this was something Tony had never considered.*

*What kind of place was Auschwitz Concentration Camp?*

*Anyone with a basic education knows about it, let alone a super-scientist like Tony.*

*It's no exaggeration to say that place was hell—naked, unadulterated hell.*

Growing up in such a place and witnessing his mother's murder would fill anyone's heart with boundless hatred.

This is only natural; anyone would feel the same way.

After enduring such darkness, who could avoid falling into it themselves?

No wonder Magneto had become so extreme, even launching nuclear missiles at human society.

It all had its reasons!

In that instant, Playboy felt he had gained a certain level of understanding for Magneto's actions.

"Cuban Missile Crisis?"

Tony's eyebrows arched again.

This was a pivotal event during the Cold War between the two superpowers, the US and the Soviet Union, which nearly triggered a nuclear war and a second world war.

Playboy was naturally well aware of it.

History books and historical records alike documented the crisis in great detail.

Tony knew the entire course of the crisis—its beginning, progression, and resolution— intimately.

But he never expected that in that other universe, it was the Mutants who had ended the crisis!

Given the scale of this crisis, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Mutants saved the world!

And what was the result?

While Mutants were saving the world, the human government was trying to exterminate them!

Playboy wasn't surprised by this at all. This was, after all, exactly the kind of face those politicians showed.

In fact, throughout history, America had committed countless similar acts.

But the crucial difference this time was that they had provoked Mutants!

Considering the other cruel fates of Mutants described in the Diary, Playboy had come to understand Magneto's turn to villainy even more.

This wasn't Magneto's fault at all!

Especially after his plan to use Sentinel Robots to kill the President and other leaders failed. After retreating to Poland,

he had truly followed Professor X's advice, hiding his powers and living as a normal human, blending into society.

And what was the result?

His powers were exposed when he saved a co-worker's life, leading to the deaths of his wife and daughter.

How could Magneto not be furious?

But wasn't that Magneto the *true* Magneto?

The one who could control the Earth's magnetic field, pull all metallic elements to the surface, and destroy human civilization?

Everything humanity had built since the Bronze Age would vanish.

"Magneto's really up to something," Tony muttered, shrugging inside his mansion, not the least bit surprised.

The Diary had already made it pretty clear.

No, not "pretty clear"—it was practically a direct statement.

Magneto was definitely going to cause trouble during this "Future Past" plan.

And sure enough, the Diary immediately revealed how he would do it.

Clearly, Magneto was using the "Future Past" plan to manipulate the Sentinel Robots into assassinating America's top officials!

How ironic.

The Sentinel Robots were supposed to be the government's ultimate weapon against Mutants, yet now they were being controlled by a Mutant to kill their own President.

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot, right?

But how did Magneto's assassination plan fail?

Given Magneto's ability to control magnetic fields, all metals were useless against him, and human weapons were practically ineffective.

Considering that Professor X had been Magneto's lifelong nemesis,

the Playboy naturally made a guess: Professor X must have thwarted Magneto's plan.

And what about Magneto?

After that, he retreated into seclusion in Poland, following Professor X's advice.

He integrated himself into human society as an ordinary person.

"That must have been incredibly difficult," Tony couldn't help but exclaim.

Given Magneto's tragic childhood and his past actions, abandoning everything to start a completely different life was truly remarkable.

It also surprised Tony.

*What happened to the lifelong enemies?*

The Diary clearly stated that Professor X and Magneto had been locked in combat for their entire lives!

Could it be that Magneto's seclusion ultimately met with an unforeseen incident?

One that forced him to "re-enter the fray"?
