Chapter 282 - The New Diary Holder: Doctor Strange

What happened next is self-evident.

Baron Mordo brought Strange to Kamar-Taj and presented him to the Ancient One.

After a "harmonious and friendly" conversation with the Ancient One, Strange's soul was struck out of his body with a single palm strike.

The once defiant Strange, who had dismissed the Ancient One as a fraud, was thoroughly humbled. He fell to his knees before her robes.

As for the Ancient One?

She had long chosen Strange as her successor to the Sorcerer Supreme, yet she played a game of "reverse psychology," deliberately driving him away only to be moved by his sincerity.

Finally, Baron Mordo was instructed to bring the rejected Strange back into Kamar-Taj.

"Follow me," Baron Mordo said.

He led Strange through the twisting corridors of Kamar-Taj, finally arriving at a modest, simple house.

"Take a bath and rest."

"If you can, meditate."

"The Ancient One will summon you."

After giving these brief instructions, Baron Mordo produced a slip of paper and handed it to Strange.

Strange didn't dare to be careless and immediately accepted it, his hands trembling slightly.

Looking down, he saw a string of letters he couldn't understand.

"What is this?"

"My spell?"

Strange asked urgently, staring at Baron Mordo.

Baron Mordo was left speechless. "That's the Wi-Fi password. We're not cavemen."

Now it was Strange's turn to be speechless.

They didn't even have electricity, relying on oil lamps instead. And they claimed not to be cavemen?

Of course, Strange only thought this to himself, not saying it aloud.

*Creak!*

The door closed immediately, and Baron Mordo left. Strange had lost all interest in going online.

He took out the watch Christine had given him, momentarily lost in thought.

*I hope this place can really heal my hands.*

"Follow me. The Ancient One wants to see you."

Before long, Baron Mordo reappeared before Strange.

Strange steadied himself and immediately followed.

From that moment on, Strange bid farewell to his identity as Doctor Strange and began his journey as a "magic apprentice."

Just like in the movies, Strange transformed from a clumsy novice into a magical prodigy.

In just under a year, Strange had mastered the vast and complex spells of Kamar-Taj.

He had also read nearly every book in the library.

Yet Strange remained unsatisfied, frequently using magic to sneak a look at books he wasn't authorized to access.

Before he knew it, time had slipped into early 2017.

The period between Strange's car accident and his transformation into a magical genius should have seen the events of *Captain America: Civil War*, *Black Widow*, *Black Panther*, and *Spider-Man* unfold in sequence.

But due to the flutter of a certain butterfly's wings, all major events except *Black Panther* had failed to occur.

*Captain America: Civil War* was a given.

*Age of Ultron* had never happened, the Sokovia tragedy had never occurred, and naturally, no civil war had erupted.

What about *Black Widow*?

The Red Room had been exposed years ago. Nick Fury had long since used S.H.I.E.L.D.'s full force to dismantle it.

The Red Room was now nothing more than a historical footnote.

As for *Spider-Man*?

Without the Chitauri invasion, the main villain, Vulture, had never been born. To this day, he remained an ordinary man.

The entire plot of the first *Spider-Man* film had been driven by Vulture's secret arms dealing.

Needless to say, the rest followed naturally.

Beyond these developments, other matters also underwent significant changes, all related to the Clandestine Family.

Over the course of a year, S.H.I.E.L.D. finally managed to thoroughly investigate every member of the Clandestine Family.

They deployed the Avengers to apprehend all the aliens from Nohrl Space-Time.

Meanwhile, S.H.I.E.L.D. continued to uncover secrets about the Demon Spirit Clan.

The mysterious Nohrl Veil also surfaced and was taken over by S.H.I.E.L.D.

Dr. Banner, Tony, and Vision, all brilliant scientists, formed a joint research team.

Working overtime, they began studying the Nohrl Veil, searching for a way to completely seal it.

Of course, none of this concerned Strange. He couldn't possibly know about any of it.

At that moment, he sat in his dorm room, rubbing his hands together with a mischievous grin—the kind that clearly signaled he was up to no good.

"Alright, let's begin!"

Strange rubbed his hands together, then produced the Sling Ring and slipped it onto his finger.

Then, Strange vaguely drew a circle in the space before him.

*Whoosh!*

A dazzling spatial portal materialized instantly.

On the other side of the portal lay a place filled with towering bookshelves.

Among these rows of shelves, a short, chubby Asian man was organizing the books.

Undoubtedly, it was Wang himself—the one who had nearly transformed the Marvel Multiverse into *Wang's Multiverse*.

"Alright, perfect timing."

Seeing that Wang hadn't noticed anything, Strange swiftly and expertly grabbed a book and yanked it back.

The spatial portal closed just as swiftly.

It was clear that Strange's entire sequence of actions flowed with such practiced ease, the work of a seasoned professional.

*Let's see what's inside this book!*

Placing the "borrowed" magic book on the table, Strange's face lit up with anticipation.

"Hmm?"

"There's another one here?"

Just as he was about to open the book, Strange froze.

*???*

*What's going on here?*

*He'd only taken one book a moment ago!*

*This happened in an instant—he couldn't possibly be mistaken, could he?*

No, that's absolutely impossible.

Strange's memory was legendary, the kind that would make any academic envious.

He had once told Baron Mordo that he never forgot anything, and it wasn't an exaggeration.

So, yes, Strange was certain he had only borrowed one book.

This other Zhou Cheng's Diary... he definitely hadn't borrowed it.

Even more than that, Strange was certain the diary hadn't been there before he borrowed the book.

In other words...

The diary had only appeared before him the moment he borrowed the book.

Could this be a prank by the other apprentices? A practical joke?

That was the first thought that flashed through Strange's mind.

After all, this was Kamar-Taj, a place full of mages. Anything could happen here.

Hadn't he just borrowed a book right under Wang's nose?

So someone slipping him another book right under his nose... that wasn't so strange.

The clever Strange instantly figured it out.

But... who could it be?

Could it be Wang?

The seemingly simple and honest Wang immediately became Strange's prime suspect.

To Strange, this could be Wang's way of showing off, a warning to him.

*Don't think I don't know you're borrowing books under my nose, kid. You're still wet behind the ears!*

*This little trick of yours is nothing to me. I'll turn it around on you in a heartbeat.*

*Let me give you a proper lesson.*

A playful smirk curled at the corner of Strange's lips.

*Old Wang, are you trying to slap me in the face?*

*I never would have guessed you'd be so... *naughty* behind that honest facade.*

*Is this your true colors?*

But who was Zhou Cheng?

Why would Wang bring Zhou Cheng's diary to him?

Strange was completely baffled. *Is there even a Zhou Cheng at Kamar-Taj?*

He tilted his head in thought for a long time, but couldn't recall anyone by that name.

*I've been at Kamar-Taj for a year now. There shouldn't be anyone I don't know...*

"Whatever! Let's just see what's inside!"

Strange's personality was strikingly similar to Tony's.

He thought for a moment but couldn't recall anything, so he didn't bother dwelling on it. He casually opened the diary.

*It was delivered anyway, why overthink it? Let's just read it.*

*Whoosh!*

But Strange never expected this.

The moment his fingers touched the diary, it inexplicably "projected" itself into his mind.

His consciousness instinctively entered a "Diary Interface."

*What the hell?!*

Strange froze in surprise.

He never imagined that the diary before him contained magic.

*But what kind of magic affects the mind like this?*

He had read most of the library's books and had never encountered such magic before.

"Interesting."

Strange's curiosity and appetite were instantly piqued.

With a thought, he instinctively wanted to review the diary.

The diary in his mind indeed opened.

After a quick glance, his expression gradually turned peculiar.

He had initially assumed it was some kind of prank, but it turned out to be a genuine diary written by someone named Zhou Cheng.

The author claimed to be a transmigrator who knew the future of this world and had "predicted" many events.

Of course, familiar figures like Iron Man and Captain America were mentioned, so there was no need to dwell on that.

Beyond that, there were also Thor, the Ultron Legion, the Cosmic Family Planning Commission, and other outlandish ideas.

*What kind of prank is this?*

*How boring!*

*That Wang guy can't even pull off a decent joke.*

Shaking his head, Strange was about to close the Diary Interface when his casual flipping through it suddenly made him freeze.

The Ancient One!

This Diary actually contained information about the Ancient One.

But... it claimed the Ancient One had died!

A flicker of confusion crossed Strange's face.

Only then did he realize something was amiss.

Wang deeply respected the Ancient One; he would never fabricate such a story about her death.

No, not just Wang—even his own "mentor," Baron Mordo, felt the same way.

In fact, no one at Kamar-Taj would ever disrespect the Ancient One.

The Ancient One held a transcendent status at Kamar-Taj.

It was impossible for anyone to fabricate the Ancient One's death.

So, what was the deal with this diary?

Strange didn't exit the Diary Interface for the time being.

Driven by these questions, he began rapidly flipping through the entire diary.

Indeed, he found more entries about the Ancient One in other places.

*What the hell?*

*So the Ancient One's death wasn't real? She just didn't want to live anymore?*

*A meticulously planned suicide?*

*And the reason behind it? Did the Ancient One have too many debts? Was she some kind of deadbeat who never intended to pay them back?*

*What kind of nonsensical crap is this?!*

*And what about this "Dark Dimension"? Strange had never even heard of it before.*

*But still, if it's the Dark Dimension, what good could it be?*

*So, what was this diary trying to tell him?*

*After all, this didn't seem like some fabricated story designed to prank him.*

*"Wait a minute... me too?"*

Before Strange could even make sense of the Ancient One's entries, he discovered that the diary also contained records about himself!

Now *that* piqued his interest.

*Fine, let's see what this diary has to say about me.*

With growing enthusiasm, Strange mentally flipped through the diary, searching for entries about himself.

Soon, his expression became utterly priceless.

*Fighting a dimensional god solo?*

*Isn't that flattery going a bit too far?*

*And battling the purple potato man on Titan?*

*Good grief, he's even run off to another planet. His imagination is running wild.*

*What the hell?*

*In another parallel universe, I destroyed the entire universe to save Christine?*

*Is this a compliment or an insult?*

*What makes me worthy of destroying an entire universe?*

As he read further, Strange didn't know how to react.

The content grew increasingly fantastical and absurd.

*Strange is the biggest threat to the multiverse, with one version of me hunting me across all dimensions, and my future wife is Dormammu's niece.*

*And I killed Iron Man with a flick of my finger.*

*And so on and so forth.*

*All I can say is, the imagination is astounding, and the story is thrilling.*

*But what it's actually trying to say, Strange has no idea.*

*The diary also mentions Kaecilius, the traitor from Kamar-Taj.*

*Strange knows of him and knows he betrayed Kamar-Taj.*

*But everyone keeps quiet about him, so Strange doesn't know the full story.*

*Yet the diary claims Kaecilius plans to summon Dormammu?*

*Did he steal the spell to summon Dormammu from Kamar-Taj?*
