Chapter 279 - The Mighty Kang the Conqueror can strip even the Infinity Stones of their power!

Consider the TVA's tier of existence:

They are an transcendent organization that operates above the Multiverse, casually traversing all timelines.

Based on the information revealed in the diaries so far, only the God of Stories, Loki, can be compared to the TVA. Even the Watcher is a tier below them.

While the diaries don't reveal much about the Demon Spirit Clan, their desperate attempts to return to Nornheim caused such collateral damage that it nearly destroyed the entire Earth.

By all accounts, they were utterly insignificant before the TVA.

They could only meekly submit to the TVA's reset.

This was far more reliable than S.H.I.E.L.D. and its ilk.

Egghead couldn't help but feel immensely satisfied.

"Super Monster Alioth?"

Before another diary.

Tony stared at this newly revealed name, deep in thought.

*Could there be monsters within the TVA too?*

Alright, that's not important. For a super organization that transcends time and space, nothing they create should be surprising.

But the crucial question is: judging by the diary's tone, does Alioth devour everything the TVA resets?

So this is the truth behind "resetting"!

There's no doubt about it—this must be it.

After all, the diary clearly states that Alioth can devour time itself!

Devouring time itself... what kind of monster is this?!

Even the Playboy couldn't help but marvel in secret.

This monster named Alioth is simply too terrifying.

Having had the diary for so long, time travel was no longer a remarkable feat for the Playboy.

Many could do it, and he himself would even invent a time machine in the future.

But the idea of time being devoured was utterly unheard of—Tony had never heard anything like it before.

Amidst his shock, Tony finally understood why the TVA could perform resets.

In Playboy's understanding, the TVA's reset actions were simply deliberate interventions in timelines outside the Sacred Timeline.

He had previously wondered why such interventions didn't create new branches.

Now, Playboy finally had the answer.

It turned out the TVA possessed the ability to devour time itself!

It wasn't that the TVA's resets didn't create new branches.

Rather, Alioth devoured those newly formed branches. That was all there was to it.

One could only marvel at the TVA's audacity, to actually possess such a terrifying monster.

This only deepened Tony's loathing for the TVA.

Wasn't this equivalent to outright murder?

Even those killed by the TVA might not have been truly evil, but simply didn't fit the TVA's script.

Although the TVA prevented the Multiverse from growing wildly and collapsing—in a way, saving it—

But the Playboy could never condone such methods.

They were simply too cruel, too outrageous.

*Speaking of which, Kang the Conqueror is truly remarkable. He's just an ordinary human, with no superpowers of his own.*

*Yet he found a way to suppress all superpowers.*

*Not to mention Alioth at the End of Time, which can devour everything.*

*Even the TVA was designed by He Who Remains Kang with security measures that suppress all supernatural forces.*

*Even the Infinity Stones are suppressed!*

*You have to admire his ingenuity.*

*When TVA Chief Engineer OB restarted the TVA system and shut down the security protocols, Loki and Lady Loki instantly regained their magic.*

*It's safe to assume the Infinity Stones did the same.*

*Kang the Conqueror is actually just an ordinary human!*

*This answer was somewhat unexpected for Tony.*

*After all, how imposing is Kang's stature?*

*Not only did he single-handedly establish the TVA, but countless other Kangs also formed the Kang Council, which reigns supreme over the entire Multiverse.*

Countless formidable beings, like Loki—even countless Lokis across the multiverse—were toyed with by Kang.

Even the elderly Loki, who could conjure entire Asgard with magic, was captured and imprisoned by the TVA like a common criminal.

To the TVA, the Infinity Stones were nothing more than trash.

Yet, the diary revealed to Tony that the mastermind behind it all, Kang, was merely an ordinary Earthling?

Talk about a stark contrast!

So it seemed that Kang the Conqueror, like Tony himself, had followed the path of a scientist?

After all, if he possessed superpowers, magic, or sorcery...

In other words, if he wielded any form of supernatural power, he wouldn't be considered ordinary, would he?

Even as a scientist, Kang the Conqueror hadn't invented his own time machine; he'd simply found it.

In that moment, Kang the Conqueror's prestige in Tony's eyes plummeted.

Still, the TVA's security measures left Tony in awe.

The diary had mentioned it long ago.

In the TVA, the Infinity Stones were stored in drawers like junk, completely inert.

The Playboy had been puzzled by this at the time.

Now, the diary provided the answer.

It turned out to be due to the TVA's security protocols!

In other words, some scientific method devised by Kang the Conqueror!

It seemed that to become such a powerful figure who could command the Multiverse, Kang the Conqueror, even if he couldn't invent a time machine, still had some tricks up his sleeve.

"OB?"

This codename, or rather, abbreviation, immediately caught Tony's attention.

With just these two letters, Tony couldn't possibly know who "OB" was.

But since he was the TVA's Chief Engineer, he was undoubtedly a super-scientist.

Perhaps the Time Pad used by the TVA agent had been created by this Chief Engineer.

Of course, it was also possible that Kang the Conqueror had created it.

There was no need to dwell on it. All Tony knew was that OB was formidable.

But why would OB need to restart the TVA system?

If it had reached the point of a system restart, it was clear that a major malfunction must have occurred within the TVA.

This instinctively led Playboy to make a guess:

*Could it be that the TVA's temporal energy is overloaded?*

Playboy thought this was a plausible explanation.

But only Zhou Cheng, the owner of the diary, could know for sure.

___

*There's just one thing... why didn't Loki and Lady Loki use the Infinity Stones to fix the TVA?*

*They wouldn't have needed OB and Inventor Kang to go to all the trouble of making the multiplier or anything.*

*Even if it couldn't truly solve the TVA's problems, it could at least have eased the immediate crisis.*

*After all, the real issue facing the TVA is that when Kang the Conqueror dies, the timeline will grow infinitely, but the stabilizer has a limited capacity!*

*Speaking of which, OB and Inventor Kang are quite interesting.*

*OB's knowledge comes from Inventor Kang, yet Inventor Kang's knowledge also comes from OB.*

This is as perplexing as the chicken-or-the-egg dilemma.

Tony already knew that Loki had ultimately made a great sacrifice, transforming himself into a mere cog in the TVA machine.

This act had restored the TVA to its proper functioning.

So, even though he didn't know the specific motives or reasons, Tony wasn't surprised by what the diary revealed: Loki and Lady Loki had attempted to repair the TVA.

Now, this was getting interesting.

Remember, Loki had initially been captured by the TVA as a "criminal"!

And Lady Loki?

She had been a long-term fugitive from the TVA.

The diary didn't detail their struggle against the TVA, but Tony could roughly imagine the twists and dangers they must have faced, from being prisoners to ultimately killing Kang the Conqueror.

And yet, in the end, the TVA needed these two to save them?

Life truly is unpredictable. Anything can happen.

After a brief sigh, Tony refocused on the diary, and it all clicked.

It seemed the two Lokis weren't the only ones who saved the TVA; OB, the TVA's Chief Engineer, had clearly been involved as well.

Nothing to add there.

But Inventor Kang?

This was clearly a variant of Kang.

And his identity perfectly matched Tony's earlier suspicions—he was indeed a scientist.

Though just one variant of Kang, this was still highly representative and revealing.

Moreover, if Inventor Kang and OB worked together to repair the TVA, it was clear they were the same type of people as Kang the Conqueror.

Not the kind of people He Who Remains Kang had tried to stop when he founded the TVA.

It was the relationship between Inventor Kang and OB that left Tony speechless.

*My knowledge comes from you, and your knowledge comes from me. In other words, isn't this just me plagiarizing you, and you plagiarizing me?*

*And as we kept plagiarizing, one of us ended up as the TVA's Chief Engineer, and the other as an inventor?*

*How could he do that?*

*Isn't that like standing on one foot and flying to the sky?*

*And the reason the timeline grows infinitely when Kang the Conqueror dies...*

*Tony had long suspected that Kang must have controlled some crucial technology within the TVA.*

*When he died, no one could master or replicate that technology.*

*But even the Playboy couldn't rack his brain enough to figure out what that "crucial technology" could be.*

*But now it seems... it must be the Super Monster Alioth, the one that devours time, that the diary just mentioned.*

*After all, Alioth is the key to the TVA's ability to reset the timeline.*

*In other words, it's the key to the TVA's ability to prune the timeline!*

*I just wonder where Alioth was born.*

*Did Kang the Conqueror cultivate it, or did he find it somewhere else?*

I just wonder how OB on Earth is doing with his novel now...

Can you believe the TVA's Chief Engineer OB was originally a novelist?

And how did a novelist like Loki end up being apprehended by the TVA as a Time Variant?

He even had his memories erased and became a TVA employee.

And Agent Mobius—a mere salesman of motorcycles and yachts—how did he become a Time Variant too?

Can you believe *all* TVA employees are Time Variants?

This raises a question: Who was the first Time Variant captured by He Who Remains Kang?

Could it have been Judge Ravonna?

Time Variant.

The diary first mentioned this term, but it wasn't a particularly complex concept.

After the diary's explanation, Tony instantly grasped its meaning.

It was clear.

Time Variants were those deemed by the TVA to have deviated from the Sacred Timeline.

Loki, who used the Avengers to escape through time, was such a Time Variant.

Lady Loki, though unaware of her specific offense, was undoubtedly another Time Variant.

To put it plainly, Time Variants were simply prisoners of the TVA.

But that the TVA would actually "hire" these prisoners as employees was something Tony had never expected.

He couldn't even fathom Kang the Conqueror's motives.

With his power, wouldn't it be effortless to build his own faction?

That should have been trivial.

Why had it come to erasing prisoners' memories and forcing them into service?

Well, perhaps Kang the Conqueror found it more convenient and efficient this way.

In any case, this wasn't a major concern for Tony.

After a brief mental grumble, he didn't dwell on it.

Instead, the Playboy was more interested in the identities of the TVA employees revealed in the diary.

Chief Engineer OB was actually a novelist?

This truly surprised Tony.

In any case, the transition from novelist to scientist seemed like a pretty drastic career change, right?

Of course, the Playboy didn't know that OB was actually a scientist who had turned to writing novels out of personal interest. Returning to the TVA as a scientist meant going back to his old profession.

And Agent Mobius... he was originally a jet ski salesman?

Okay, that was another pretty big leap.

Plus, the question the diary had raised about Mobius really intrigued the Playboy.

A sales rep like that was, frankly, an insignificant figure. How could such a person become a Time Variant?

Until now, Tony had always assumed that only those with superpowers or a significant impact on the world would receive such "special treatment."

Who would have thought the TVA would even keep tabs on a jet ski salesman?

But if Mobius was a jet ski salesman, that screening criterion was specific enough.

Tony could easily narrow down his search to this particular Mobius.

Time to uncover his identity!

"Jarvis!"

Tony's eyes lit up as he immediately gave Jarvis a command.

"Search for Mobius. See if any Mobius is selling jet skis."
