Chapter 276 - The Supervillain Who Destroyed the Sun, and the Justice League's Mission to Save the Solar System

With a slight twist of his neck, Clark's gaze swept across the entire laboratory.

Everything within the room registered in his vision.

A perfectly cubic object instantly drew his attention.

"This... is a Mother Box!"

Though he'd never seen one before, the moment he laid eyes on the cube, Clark immediately made this deduction.

There was no other explanation.

In the entire laboratory, it was the only object that fit the description of a "box."

"Proceeding with the twenty-third test."

"Dr. Henry, I need you to increase the fine-tuning constant by one order of magnitude this time."

"When my Melita curve reaches its peak, start immediately. Understood?"

Meanwhile, Clark's super hearing picked up the conversation between Silas Stone and other researchers.

Mostly, it was a barrage of technical jargon he couldn't understand, so he quickly shifted his focus.

After a moment's thought, Clark suppressed his X-ray vision, turned casually, and left as if nothing had happened.

It wasn't the right time.

Clark planned to have a proper talk with Silas after he finished work.

He was still very eager to understand the origin of the Mother Boxes.

"You bastard, what exactly are you trying to pull off?!"

But what Clark didn't know was that while he was watching Silas from the bridge, he had also become someone else's spectacle.

As Clark was watching Silas, he was being watched in return.

At that very moment,

In an unremarkable apartment building several streets away,

A man covered in gleaming silver armor wore an expression of grave seriousness.

He stared intently at the "air" before him and murmured softly.

This man was none other than Victor Stone, Silas Stone's son, and one of the Justice League's founding members—Cyborg.

Cyborg possessed a super-intelligent AI, making him, in some ways, similar to Ultron.

He had complete control and mastery over the entire DC Universe's network.

So yes, Clark's recent activities had completely alerted Cyborg.

Cyborg wasn't actually looking at the air.

His vision displayed footage of Clark monitoring Silas!

Though Cyborg outwardly remained cold toward his father and refused to forgive him for his past actions, no matter what, that was still his father.

How could Cyborg allow anyone to harm his father?

Even though Clark hadn't made any substantial moves yet, a muscular super-man with a chest larger than some women's had been watching his father for days. How could Cyborg sit idly by?

"Whoever you are, whatever your schemes..."

"I won't let you harm my father!"

The single human eye Cyborg had left began to burn with unwavering resolve.

He continued to control the city's cameras to monitor Clark.

When he spotted Clark appearing on a deserted street, Cyborg didn't hesitate.

He pulled up his hood, concealing himself completely.

He threw open the window and shot out into the air.

As he passed, all cameras instantly glitched, capturing no trace of him.

Thus, Cyborg streaked through the streets at breakneck speed, finally locating Clark.

*Whoosh!*

He adjusted his trajectory and began a steep dive toward the ground.

Hmm?

On the ground...

Clark, who had been walking at a leisurely pace, immediately heard the commotion in the air.

He instinctively looked up and saw a silver metal behemoth plummeting from the sky, crashing down in front of him and blocking his path.

Cyborg Victor!

Though Victor's face was now disfigured, with only half of it remaining, Clark, who had long known of the Cyborg's existence, recognized him instantly.

This appearance perfectly embodied the term "Cyborg," a true half-man, half-machine.

"Who are you? Why are you targeting S.T.A.R. Labs?"

"What is your true motive? Tell me everything!"

Cyborg Victor strode toward Clark, his voice deep and demanding.

"Victor, listen, this is a misunderstanding."

Hearing Victor's questions, Clark immediately understood the situation and began trying to explain, his head already aching from the headache.

But before he could finish, Clark suddenly noticed something was wrong with Cyborg Victor.

As if having a seizure, the half-mechanical man began to twitch violently.

"Victor?"

A hint of confusion crossed Clark's face.

But at that moment, Victor's own confusion ran deeper than Clark's.

He suddenly realized he was losing control of his body. Every part of him was in a state of extreme tension.

*Danger!*

*Extreme danger!*

His modified, mutated subconscious screamed these warnings at him.

Fear!

Yes.

Victor could feel it with absolute clarity: his body was afraid, instinctively terrified.

And the source of this terror was the seemingly ordinary muscular man before him.

"Who... who are you?!" Victor's mind was in utter chaos, his eyes locked onto Clark as he growled.

To make his body tremble with such primal fear was something he'd never imagined possible!

"I'm Clark Kent."

Though Clark didn't understand Victor's state, he began to explain since he'd been asked.

"Look, I don't mean any harm..."

*Bang! Bang! Bang!*

But halfway through his explanation, Victor's body began to move on its own.

The metal on his right arm rippled and coalesced into a cannon barrel.

"No, no, no!"

Victor struggled desperately to stop his body, but it was useless.

At that moment, his terrified body was no longer listening to his commands.

That's right.

Victor's body had automatically activated its defense systems in response to Clark's overwhelming power!

Just like in the *Justice League* movie.

Even though Clark had shown no malice, his sheer power had terrified Victor's body into a frenzy.

He had lost all reason!

"No, no..."

*Boom!*

Amidst Victor's frantic protests, his defense systems rapidly engaged.

An energy cannonball blasted straight at Clark, striking him squarely.

"No!" Victor cried out.

Heaven knows, he had only come to ask Clark why he was targeting his father.

He wasn't here to kill anyone! He just wanted to prevent this man from harming his father.

But the next moment, Victor froze.

He had taken a direct hit from his full-power blast, yet the man before him wasn't dead, nor even injured.

He hadn't even flinched, his body hadn't swayed at all.

He stood there calmly, completely unfazed, as if the powerful strike had merely been a gentle breeze.

*How is this possible?!*

*What kind of freakish body does this guy have?!*

Victor was utterly shocked.

Now he finally understood why his own body had been so terrified of this man.

*So he's this monstrous...*

"Victor, stop!" Clark's brow furrowed as he growled at him.

*Whoosh!*

Victor wanted to stop, but his body refused to obey.

Blazing flames erupted from him as he lunged toward Clark.

Two additional arms materialized from the flames, and all four fists began hammering down on Clark.

But Clark merely reached out and gripped Victor's neck, immobilizing him completely.

No matter how fiercely the flames erupted from Victor's body, that one casual hand of Clark's remained an insurmountable barrier, like a heavenly chasm.

His feet didn't move an inch.

*Bang! Bang! Bang!*

Moreover.

Victor's four hands hammered against Clark's body, as ineffective as a feather duster brushing away dust—barely tickling him.

He couldn't budge Clark even a fraction.

*Who the hell is this guy?*

A storm of disbelief raged within Victor. He couldn't believe his own eyes.

He was going all out, using every ounce of his strength.

Yet before the other man, he felt as weak as an infant!

*When did such a terrifying entity appear on Earth?*

"Victor, can you calm down first?"

Clark ignored Victor's attacks entirely—they couldn't harm him at all—and focused on communicating.

"That's not me! I didn't mean to do this."

"It's my body's automatic defensive response."

Victor struggled to control his body as he explained to Clark.

Clark could tell Victor was malfunctioning.

He asked again, "What should I do? How can I make you stop?"

"I don't know! I don't know either!"

Victor's head was throbbing like a drum; he couldn't control his own body at all.

And so, the situation on the scene grew awkward.

Victor frantically attacked Clark, who was flustered, trying to help Victor regain control but unsure how to do so. He could only temporarily suppress Victor.

Fortunately, after a moment, Victor realized Clark was only defending and not retaliating. This slowly calmed him down, and he stopped attacking Clark.

"Um... I'm sorry about that," Victor said, feeling awkward. He'd now realized Clark didn't seem like a bad guy.

"No need. My actions must have caused a misunderstanding," Clark said, understanding. He wasn't angry and began to explain, "But Victor, I have no ill intentions."

"Then why were you targeting my father?" Victor's expression turned serious, and he asked Clark in a deep voice.

"I wasn't targeting your father; I was investigating the Mother Box," Clark replied truthfully. "Victor, you've arrived at the perfect time. I think we need to talk about the Mother Box."

"The Mother Box?"

Victor was momentarily stunned before realizing, "Are you talking about the cube my father was researching?"

His father had even assembled a dedicated research team to study that thing, but they hadn't made any progress.

Yet, it seemed this person before him knew quite a bit.

Victor himself was desperate to understand what had transformed him into this monstrous state.

The two quickly reached an agreement and arranged to meet in a secluded place to discuss it in detail.

When they parted ways, they had exchanged all their information about the Mother Box.

However, for Clark, Victor's intel was insufficient, as Victor himself knew very little.

Still, this encounter wasn't entirely fruitless.

At the very least, after learning the Mother Box's true origins, Victor had agreed to join Clark in investigating it.

With Victor's connections, their investigation would surely be twice as effective.

Coupled with Clark's support from his interdimensional online friends, he remained highly optimistic about the investigation.

However, Clark soon realized his optimism was misplaced.

Since Marvel and DC films didn't overlap, the information Victor provided about the Mother Box was inconsistent.

After over a month of meticulous investigation, they had made no significant progress.

"Time to go!"

Meanwhile, Zhou Cheng was completely unaware of the chaos his butterfly effect had unleashed upon Clark.

He had thoroughly enjoyed his month-long journey through the DC universe. It had been a truly delightful interdimensional trip.

But now that he had been gone for a while, it was indeed time to return.

Without hesitation, Zhou Cheng activated his dimensional-shifting ability.

In an instant, he was back in Marvel, in his luxurious villa.

Since he had arranged for regular cleaning, the mansion remained spotless despite his long absence.

He could move back in immediately, without any issues.

"I'm back!" Zhou Cheng said, sinking comfortably into his sofa.

"Welcome back, sir!" the Intelligent Entity greeted him.

"It's been over a month. Let's see if anything interesting happened while I was gone," Zhou Cheng said casually, after a brief freshen-up.

The Intelligent Entity immediately began searching the entire web.

And you know what? It found something.

A video of a young boy swinging wildly through the air on spider webs was projected before Zhou Cheng.

Zhou Cheng's eyes lit up. Spider-Man!

*This is the ultimate troublemaker Spider-Man! He's finally arrived!*

A thought struck Zhou Cheng, and he instinctively scribbled his thoughts into his diary:

I never expected that after spending over a month visiting DC next door, I'd come back to find Spider-Man already online!

What a total menace! I wonder how many disasters he's caused already.

Splitting a cruise ship in half, handing drone armies to villains like Mysterio...

Nearly blowing up a bus full of classmates, almost letting them fall to their deaths from the top of the Washington Monument...

Or even messing with the multiverse and causing the Three Spider-Men event!

The worst part is, no matter how many messes he makes, he never seems to grow up!

Look at Miss Marvel, another young Avenger in the DC universe. She's already fought General Dar-Ben of the Kree.

She even teamed up with Captain Marvel and Spectrum to repair a spacetime rift.

Otherwise, Dar-Ben would have destroyed the sun, and the entire solar system would have been doomed!

In a way, you could say they saved the solar system.
