In theory I imagined that using summoning magic on Voldemort would probably boot him to the here after. Not that I planned on it unless he chose to do something really dumb and target me for some reason. It was totally possible he would too since I could practically see it in his eyes as he taught me dark magic theory in a vain attempt to corrupt me. Curses and hexes were all but shoved down my throat by the guy as he hoped to get some form of reaction from me but indifference was all he ended up with.-
"Hagrid why do you have a dragon egg?" I asked the half giant after my most recent lesson with Quirelmort.
"Dragon egg? I don't see any dragon egg!" he said as he nervously tried to step between my eyeline and the pot he was sitting over his fire.
I stepped around him and eyed the mottled dark colored egg sitting in the pot.
"Norwegian ridgeback egg, can't be wrong. Where in Merlin's name did you even get something like this? Dealing with dragons is highly illegal you know." I said before turning to look at him questioningly.
"I won it in cards I did. Fella who had it seemed relieved to get rid of it after all and I've always wanted a dragon. Beautiful creatures they are, terribly misunderstood too." he said giving up on hiding anything at this point.
"You'll need to swap this wood for something magical, need to carefully maintain the temperature high unless you want to end up with a girl. Genders determined by how high the temperature is alongside some other factors you can't control here." I said seriously.
"Didn't know that. A little she dragon don't sound too bad though. What's this about swapping the wood though?" he asked confused.
"Dragon eggs aren't incubated in normal flames Hagrid, they are incubated in dragon fire. If you aren't doing it that way you need to use magic infused wood as fuel so the egg gets the magic it needs from the flames and grows strong. Makes hatching quicker too." I explained.
"Blimey! Good thing you knew about this or I might have made a terrible mistake. Where'd you learn all this anyway?" he asked as he memorized what I said.
"The library has books on it. "Dragon breeding for profit and pleasure, Dragon rearing and handling and Scales, Claws and fire". All three of those would set you right with a decent foundation on raising a dragon from egg to adulthood. I'd suggest you find a way to move the egg to a reserve however. Raising dragons is illegal and you'll be sent to Azkaban for at least three years if you get caught." I warned seriously.
"Is there really no other way?" he asked with a sad look.
"Well TECHNICALLY there is one way but you won't like it." I said slightly hesitant.
"Whatever it takes I'll do it!" he said with full conviction.
"Alright you need to get Dumbledore to legally claim the egg. It's not well known but he's one of the few people with a permit to own a dragon privately. If the egg is technically his the ministry can't say anything about it being here, but only if it's housed away from the school." I said honestly.
Hagrid grimaced at this "Aye, I don't like it. Really hate to bother Dumbledore with something selfish like this." he said with a look that said he was torn by the choice.
I told him to make up his mind quickly because time waits for no one and the egg will hatch before he knew it. After that I left him alone and headed for the edge of the great lake. I pointed at a spot near a tree and zapped it to thaw it out and dry it before I sat down. I didn't study or anything like that but just relaxed as I watched the cold vapors dance above the lake like flame. The temperature hadn't started to rise yet as the spring months were approaching so frost was still abundant but I didn't mind too much.-
While I sat there the world began to dim around me as the oh so familiar screen appeared with David showing up on it.
"Need something David?" I asked a little surprised to see him.
"The old guy, he's in trouble." he said with an anxious expression.
I quirked an eyebrow at that.
"Trouble in what regard?" I said curiously.
"He set up a spot in the badlands, fixing the land and water. Made plants grow and everything, was real preem and stuff. Then the corpos found it. Sent people to take it all. The old guy went psycho and flatlined them all. The corpos sent an army. He's fighting them off but he's starting to get tired." he said and I sighed.
"You'd think being imprisoned for fifty years would teach that man to know a lost cause but apparently not. Fine just give me a moment to get somewhere safe before you invite me over." I said before forcibly cutting the contact and elementalizing away.
