Chapter 176 - Sixth customer

I could only try and give them time and space to accept the truth. I didn't doubt they would either as neither of them were the sort to get bogged down by stuff like this for long. The Golden trio had been like bloodhounds searching for any records on Flammel all without realizing that they'd been looking in the wrong place this whole time. Not that I could really blame them as the number of wizards who lived for so long could be counted with the fingers of one hand. Flammel was as a result only mentioned briefly in modern history books if at all. -

'This should be interesting at least.' I thought as I activated my search function.

Like usual the world dimmed and a white screen appeared in front of me as the system connected me to Auron. When the image on the screen fully manifested I gave the man a look over. He wore a red long haori with a form fitting black mesh shirt under it and had an earthenware jug tied to his waist while a massive single edged blade rested on his back.-

His skin was tanned and his face wrinkled from stress and set in a stern visage while his short black hair had white at his temples. He had on a pair of sunglasses over his eyes and his left arm tucked limply inside his haori. He clearly wasn't in combat from how relaxed he was which made things easier.-

"Good afternoon. My name is Alexander Drake, a multiversal merchant. At your service." I said giving a flourishing bow.

"Multiversal?" he said with a deep rough voice, confusion evident.

"Ah, apologies. I should have guessed you wouldn't be aware of that concept given your worlds history. To explain it simply the multiverse is a collection of infinite possibilities that all equally happened and never will. Like if you make a choice between using your left hand or right to grab something. Both worlds exist but don't intersect. I have the power to reach across the multiverse into different worlds in order to make trades, hence the title." I explained as best as I could.

"I see. What have you contacted me for then? I have little of worth." he said bluntly.

"Ah, but that's where you are wrong. Your world is positively filled with things that in other worlds would hold great value. Magic, summoning, items, weapons, the list is quite extensive." I said seriously.

"Then you'd be better served looking for someone else. I am a guardian, not someone with much of that." he said calmly.

I shook my head "I'm afraid it doesn't work like that. While I can reach across the multiverse I do not get to choose who I connect with, nor when. You are it." I said honestly.

"Then you have wasted your time." he said with a slightly apologetic edge to his voice.

"Not necessarily. Can you tell me when during your journey you are at? Are you still watching over Tidus or have you joined Yuna as her guardian?" I asked and he tensed.

"How?" he demanded simply.

"Your world and indeed your story is one that I know decently well. A monk of the faith who turned down a marriage to a high priest's daughter and became a guardian to Braska. You traveled to the ruins of Zanarkand and Jecht became the final Aeon. Braska fought Sin and it was defeated. Jecht was possessed and made to kill Braska. You survived and in maddened grief sought revenge on the shade of Yunalesca in Zanarkand, then died from the injuries she gave you. Is that sufficient or should I go on?" I said calmly.

"Enough! You've made your point. I watch over the boy as Jecht wished still." he said with a tone that spoke of a buried wound having been reopened.

"So you are in the dream then. Can you acquire any of the machina there? What about anyone with magic?" I asked seriously.

"You cannot "acquire" people." he said with a deepened frown.

"On the contrary, you can. The trick is having ownership, whether voluntary or otherwise is irrelevant. Don't look at me like that I'm not telling you to just go and permanently imprison someone or anything like that. You only need to own them for a brief moment at most." I said casually.

"How would this even help you?" he asked with a glare.

"So long as you technically own something everything that thing has is also owned by you. In this case your worlds magic system can be copied and that copy can be sold to me. Naturally I have various things I can offer you in exchange. Perhaps a way to permanently defeat Sin?" I said knowing damned well how much he wanted such a thing.

"And this copying won't harm them fundamentally?" he asked clearly tempted.

"Not at all, though I must emphasize that only a single copy is not nearly worth the information you want." I say with a grin.

'Gotcha.' I thought knowingly.
