"Wasted perfectly good medicine then. Nothing for it I guess yo." he said with a shrug.
"It happens. Now hand over that food, i'm starving." I said with a chuckle as I took the tray of food.
It was a lot of food but then again if anyone knew the sort of caloric intake people had in this world then it was these people. The dishes weren't anything special, just soup, roasted meat and rice in massive portions. I held out my hand and my spear shot through the wall and landed in my outstretched hand. I looked at the hole in the wall awkwardly.-
"Oops?" I said sheepishly.
"Ha, it's fine. The crews been making a competition to see who could pick the thing up to begin with. Have been since it electrocuted the first guy who tried after we brought you here." he said with a grin.
"Of course you lot would try something like that. For the record nobody other than me can touch the thing safely. " I say as I shrink the spear and slip it under my bandage on my right palm.
I quickly recovered once I had my spear back as the weapon actively fed my body electricity in a steady stream. This let my body heal faster than it normally should so I was good to go in about an hour and a half. As I walked out of the cabin I couldn't help but marvel at the jump my haki got from that single instance of proper tempering. My observation barely changed but considering how unreasonably potent it was to begin with that was hardly surprising. What did change was that my armament was now easily twice as sturdy and my conquerors felt heavier.-
All in all it was a good thing. I just raised an eyebrow and elementalized when a flaming fist came at me the moment I stepped out onto the deck.
"Looking for a rematch?" I asked with a grin.
Ace just returned the grin and started throwing more punches that I avoided easily. He wasn't slow or anything but I was lightning, speed was my game. I coated my arms with armament and actively blocked his punches however without fighting back. The reason for this was simple, tempering. His armament was stronger than mine so I was using it to strengthen my own. -
"Tch, punching you is like hitting cotton. The hell are you even doing that anyways?" he asked eventually.
"There's a trick to it. I'm not absorbing your force into my body but letting my arms behind my wrist elementalize so your strength just pushes nothing but my palms with nothing behind them. Any logia can do the same if they are creative enough." I explained with a chuckle.
"I got it, hit me. I want to try." he said and I didn't hesitate to throw a blatantly obvious punch right for his chest.
He held his palm out and my fist hit it with a dull "thump" and his wrist and a few inches behind that puffed into flame. He shifted slightly in place all the same and frowned.
"Harder than it sounds isn't it. Do it too late and you still eat the impact. Do it too soon and you give it away." I said with a chuckle. "Here try it on me and watch my timing carefully." I offered as I rolled up my sleeve and held out my palm flat.
He threw a punch at it and the split second before his fist made contact I elementalized my wrist and forearm. My palm moved back but the rest of my body remained unaffected as the force bled off into the air.
"I think I got it, hit me again." he said holding his palm out.
I threw my own punch at it and he pulled it off this time with the split second elementalization that caused his palm to take the impact but the force to bleed off harmlessly afterwards. He grinned triumphantly at that and I had to give it to him, he was a genius. At least as far as combat was concerned anyways.-
"Got any other nifty tricks a fellow logia might use?" he asked eagerly.
"Most of it's pretty standard stuff really. Like scattering yourself before an attack would hit so it doesn't matter it it uses haki or not. There's also something you in particular need to understand since I know for a fact theres a fruit that you'd think you would be immune to but aren't. At least right now." I said seriously.
"What?" he asked confused.
"The Magu Magu no mi that Admiral Akainu ate. Your flames right now are simple ordinary ones. The temperatures they reach are considerably less than the ones his fruit has. This means his fruit currently suppresses yours. You need to make much hotter flames than your normal flames in order to get out of this suppression. In truth your fruit has more potential than his. Flames have no known upper limit after all, magma does." I explained seriously.
