"Puta Madre, so what? Like every bad choice is a new world or something?" Jackie asked with an expression not of simple confusion but of being incapable of comprehending the scale in question.
"Every bad choice, good choice, accident, anything really. Anything that deviates from the origin source of the world in question. In meat head terms like the branches of a tree coming off a tree but basically infinite." I said helpfully.
"I think I got it, and you are from a different one of these worlds right?" he asked and I nodded.
"In my world magic has always been real and after the magical side of things got persecuted harshly we went into hiding. After world war two we didn't have corporations spring up and take over and the united states didn't implode. Frankly speaking this world is considered a hellscape across most of the multiverse. Corporate dystopia at it's worst." I said casually.
"It's rough sure but it's not that bad right?" he asked defensively.
"Mate the oceans are practically dead, natural plants are a miracle and the sky rains acid. To top it off corporations who have no real bottom lines are in control and death is just another Tuesday to you people. You are so desensitized by the idea that many of you actively chase it for some form of glory. That is NOT what a healthy or good world looks like." I said bluntly.
"It really is bad huh?" he said as he slouched a bit.
"My hope is that together me and David here can do something to fix the place. I know several worlds across the multiverse that can even make a full turn around on a hopeless rock like this one. The trick is getting lucky enough to reach out to them." I said seriously.
"I'm in." he said firmly.
"What?" I asked confused.
"This!" he said motioning to me and David "This whole thing to make the world a better place. I'm in. Ever since I was little I wanted nothing more than to leave my mark, something that says Jackie Welles was here. Only way I knew was becoming a Legend. That's a fool's dream though. Legends typically get that way by snuffing it. I work with you two though and I can leave my mark not just on Night city but the whole world, ain't no fucking way I'm missing out on that." he said firmly.-
"I don't mind personally but not my call. In the end this isn't my world, it's his." I said poking David next to me on the couch.
"Seriously?" he asked surprised.
"Yeah, this show is yours. It's not my place to make calls about how you want to do things." I said seriously.
"Let's set the world on fire and build a better one from the ashes choom!" David said with a grin as he stuck his hand out to Jackie.
"Hell yeah! So what's first?" Jackie said with a similar grin.
"Expansion." I said calmly before David could lock up since he didn't actually know.
"Gonna need more deets than that amigo." Jackie pointed out.
"You see this room?" I asked motion around us.
"Yeah what about it?" he asked confused.
"This is the whole of his operation at the moment. The first step is obviously getting a bigger home base. More printers, more space for bigger stuff and more security, expansion like I said." I explained.
"Yeah, that about covers it for the moment. Gotta take it one step at a time. Get me?" David said and Jackie nodded.
"I can put out feelers with some chooms I know for good spots to take over. Places easy to defend and hard to get into without permission." Jackie offered.
"No need. I am planning on heading to the Afterlife in a bit to chat Rogue up about helping David out." I said calmly.
"You serious? No offense but I don't exactly think they'll just let you walk in. You are a nino after all." Jackie pointed out.
"Who said I was walking in? I'm going to make an entrance she won't be able to ignore." I said with a chuckle.
"You mean that thing you did when you vanished into the transformer?" he asked and I nodded. "So you can just like vanish and reappear somewhere else? No limits?" he asked curiously.
I shook my head "Slight misunderstanding, I didn't teleport. That's a very different piece of magic. What I did was turn myself into pure electricity and then move through the wires to cross the city and pop out. All I have to do is repeat that process but this time just pop out of an outlet in the bar." I explained.
"Damn choom! Can all wizards do that?" David asked impressed.
"Nope, I got this bit of my power from an entirely different world than my own. Truthfully I considered getting you something similar but rejected the idea since if anyone found out every corporation on the planet would stop at nothing to catch you and pick you apart to find out how you did it. Unlike me however you live here and will actually need to deal with it rather than just leaving the world." I said honestly.
