Chapter 144 - Altered future

"Damn choom, when you said the haunt was gone I thought you meant you cleared it not... whatever this is!" David said motioning to the video playing on the laptop.

I shrugged "Not like I need to hide or anything. I'll be gone in two days and even if I wasn't I'm almost completely bullet proof and as you may have noticed really hard to stop if I want to leave." I said casually.

"The corpos must be going nuts right now, gotta be." he said with a chuckle.

"I'm counting on it. So long as they are afraid they'll be careful and you can get away with more. I reckon they'll be looking for me for a good minute so long as I act a couple more times." I said honestly.

"I'm fine right now, got eddies rolling in by the handful for the ware I make and then shift into the market through Vik. Still itching to get into the action but Vik agrees that stealth's the way to go with a sandy. Just need time to get myself settled in." he said honestly.

"Maybe but that doesn't mean I can't help out a bit and make expansion easier. Ah! That reminds me but I need a braindance wreath." I said casually changing the topic.

"A BD wreath? Why?" he asked confused.

"I need a good fast way to learn a new language and that will absolutely do it. Best to start with French, no real preferences after that at the moment." I said frankly.

"French? Weird first choice." he said but agreed to get me what I wanted.

We ended up just chatting for a while as we relaxed on his couch. He was naturally very curious about magic and my own world and I used illusion magic to show off what I could while explaining as much as I myself knew. -

He told me about the stuff his implant has been letting him do and I had to admit it was pretty perfect for this world. For starters the implant swapped out the engrams from it's home universe for the entirety of the recorded buildable archive of this one from the entire net. Obviously David couldn't understand most of them but the implant compensated for this by giving him the knowledge on everything he made himself.-

That was to say David was mastering his worlds knowledge one creation at a time. Right now he was just focusing on cyberware since he could get it out into the market through Viktor Vector. The man in question was a long time Night city Ripperdoc and practically a legend in his own right. Him having fresh off the line cyberware was the furthest thing from suspicious as a result. David did mention that once he can start automating the process for a lot of different types of cyberware he planned to move on to other things.-

Soon enough someone walked into the room and froze stiff as they laid eyes on me.

"Madre mios! You're that fella all over the net!" The large muscular Hispanic man yelled in shock.

"Well now that's a pleasant surprise. You know Jackie Welles?" I asked David genuinely surprised.

"Yeah, we met through Vik. He drops off mats for the printer every now and then. How do you know him?" David asked confused.

"He's an important though briefly appearing person in a version of your worlds future. Gets killed due to a hell of a coincidence while running a gig for Dexter Deshawn." I explained calmly.

"Oi! I'm right here! The hell you mean I die!?" the big man demands with an angry look.

"I mean it's exactly what I said, you get killed. The job was originally going smoothly but then something happened and you took a seriously bad gut shot, died from it shortly afterwards. You did get a drink named after you in the Afterlife though so theres that at least." I said with a shrug.

"That don't make no sense, I'm still kickin'! And I've never even BEEN to the Afterlife." the big man said seriously confused.

"I did say it was a version of the future, it hasn't happened yet and with the way things look right now might not happen at all. In that future neither of you know each other since David is already long dead and buried." I said calmly.

"Wait what? How'd I die?" David asked in horror.

"Blaze of glory while rescuing your girl from Arasaka. Messy business really, probably won't happen now. You aren't in Maine's crew after all." I said casually.

"You almost sound like Misty, always saying shit that hasn't happened yet. But like WAY more detailed." Jackie said with a confused expression.

"She's got a talent for divination. She'd go far if she were in my world, seers are always valuable." I said with a nod.

"Whatchu mean your world?" Jackie asked still reeling from the information he'd gotten.

"Ah! Apologies! Where are my manners? Alexander Drake, Multiversal merchant and wizard in training! A pleasure to make your acquaintance." I said grandly as I stood and made a bow.

"What?" he said with an expression that said his brain was not computing.

"Oh goody, presentation time!" I said excitedly.

I then began to carefully explain what the multiverse was, how I was from an entirely different world and how I could connect to people in other worlds to trade with.
