MHGA Chapter 397: Assault Operation
Realizing the hunters would never let it escape, Shagaru Magala abandoned any thoughts of fleeing.
It began extracting the energy from the Walpurgisnacht core it had swallowed and unleashed a fierce roar toward the Dragonship.
Homura Akemi covered her ears, feeling as if her eardrums would shatter. Himmel, however, calmly jumped onto the Dragonship, silently standing next to Kairo Retsu.
"Should I be the main force?"
Himmel quietly asked Kairo Retsu.
He was the strongest among the hunters and could directly confront opponents like Shagaru Magala.
But Kairo Retsu shook his head: "The hero's strength isn't meant for babysitting."
Kairo Retsu drew his Great Sword and took two steps forward. Simultaneously, the others inside the cage also readied their weapons, preparing to engage Shagaru Magala.
"The uncertain factor of Walpurgisnacht is now gone—it can't reappear after being consumed by Shagaru Magala," Kairo Retsu stated calmly. "Defeating it ended the girls' despair; that was the hero's duty."
"But now, this is the hunters' duty," Kairo Retsu said, expression unwavering. "We must follow our own paths to growth, so… Himmel, can you make sure no one interferes with this battlefield?"
"I leave it to you—to fulfill the hero's responsibility."
Winged Lion's information had already reached Kairo Retsu moments ago.
Outside the extreme weather created by Walpurgisnacht, Kyubey appeared to have lost patience, assembling all available Magical Girls around Mitakihara City and attempting to breach Winged Lion's labyrinth walls.
In addition to numerous Magical Girls, Kyubey used collected Grief Seeds to create many Witches, similarly driving them toward Mitakihara City.
Kyubey—or rather, the Incubators—realized something beyond their expectations was happening in Mitakihara. Their technology detected rapidly increasing energy levels within the city.
Madoka, filled with massive karma and capable of releasing extraordinary energy, alongside unknown abnormal energy, made Mitakihara irresistible to the Incubators.
Kairo Retsu requested Himmel alone to utterly crush the assault gathered by Kyubey.
No other hunter could achieve this, leaving Himmel as Kairo Retsu's only choice.
"The duty of a hero… an irresistible phrase," Himmel smiled watching Kairo Retsu walk toward Shagaru Magala, sword drawn. "It seems everyone has made their decision."
"The Gathering Hall is full of good people after all."
Without hesitation, Himmel turned away, gripping the Hero's Sword and heading toward the concentrated Magical Girl assault.
Altair's cage didn't hinder Himmel's departure.
Himmel's exit served as a signal—
As soon as Himmel left the cage battlefield, the hunters sprang into action.
Two blazing Dragon Piercers were simultaneously launched toward Shagaru Magala from different directions, targeting its wings.
One was fired by Kazuma, the other by Shirou Emiya.
These two bow-wielders were among the few hunters capable of long-range attacks.
At the same moment, David shot upward from the ground, propelled by explosive momentum, directly toward Shagaru Magala.
Closely following the two Dragon Piercers, David advanced through the air at dizzying speed in a zigzag pattern toward the dragon.
Shagaru Magala eyed the arrows and the tiny creature following them, displaying evident disdain.
It released explosive Frenzy Virus orbs, destroying both Dragon Piercers instantly, then dived aggressively toward David.
Such a tiny creature dared challenge it in the sky?
After destroying the arrows, Shagaru Magala twisted sharply within the black smoke from the Frenzy Virus explosion, its thick tail sweeping toward David, intending to crush him outright.
Yet as Shagaru Magala's tail nearly reached David, his body twisted oddly in midair, narrowly dodging the attack.
David's cybernetic body was pushed to its absolute limits.
Top-tier Arasaka tech, treated now by David like disposable equipment, vented heat used by him as propulsion.
Most strained was David's signature cyberware—Sandevistan.
The extreme acceleration provided David with reactions far surpassing biological limits, allowing him to evade the dragon's attacks and fulfill his purpose.
The sky was not the hunter's domain. As long as Shagaru Magala remained airborne, it was difficult for hunters to finish the fight. Thus, their priority was dragging it down to the ground.
David's goal was exactly that.
On the ground, Felynes had already reloaded the Restraint Ballistas, aiming again at Shagaru Magala and firing a volley.
Though it wished to tear apart the irritating David, the barrage of Restraint Bolts forced Shagaru Magala to abandon its pursuit and start dodging.
Shagaru Magala's evasive maneuvers provided David an opening.
What the dragon hadn't noticed was that not all Ballistas targeted it.
One Restraint Bolt was fired directly toward David, fully activating his cybernetics.
Shagaru Magala, while evading, planned to destroy each Ballista once this volley ended.
But out of its view, David stowed his Gunlance, reaching out to grasp the spinning Restraint Bolt mid-air.
The highly accelerated Sandevistan granted David just enough opportunity to firmly seize the Restraint Bolt's hooked tip. Almost simultaneously, David activated the Gunlance's trigger on his back with his arm.
Holding onto the Restraint Bolt, David surged toward Shagaru Magala propelled by his Gunlance's recoil. Wirebug silk from David's wrist provided additional momentum midair, allowing him…
