Cedric's silence only encouraged him further.
"So tell me," Daeron mused lazily, "do you intend to remove him someday and take control of House Valecroft yourself?"
Cedric finally looked at him coldly.
"Whatever happens within my family, Daeron, is frankly none of your business. And you do not need to concern yourself with what I may or may not plan to do."
Daeron sighed dramatically.
"You truly should learn to relax more. Your face constantly looks like you're attending a funeral."
"Maybe because I keep finding myself in conversations with you."
"Oh, now that was cruel."
Cedric rolled his eyes.
"But I'm only worried for my dear sister Rimea," Daeron continued lightly. "You are her husband after all. Whatever you do—or whatever happens to you—will inevitably affect her."
Cedric gave him a skeptical look.
"I didn't realize you cared for her so deeply. Considering how many years passed without you showing such intense brotherly affection."
