Serena Sullivan's daughter's husband is Carter Lockwood; Mrs. Monroe still needs some time to digest this.
Carter didn't continue down that line; he took Anna Morgan and left first.
As they were leaving the room, Mrs. Monroe couldn't help but ask, "Anna, are you two together?"
"Yes!"
Anna couldn't understand Mrs. Monroe's question. She's already married to Carter, of course, they're living together.
"One bed!"
Mrs. Monroe asked again.
"Mom," Anna replied directly, "As soon as we got our marriage certificate, we started sleeping together."
This question, according to her, lacked any level of sophistication.
At the door, Carter heard what Mrs. Monroe asked. He wanted to say something, but upon seeing Mrs. Monroe pressing her temples and Anna's complete obliviousness to why she was being asked, Carter said nothing.
