Chapter 9 - Episode 9: Holidays and Fairytales

The Justice Brigade started setting up for Christmas. While they were setting up, they saw a giant nutcracker attacking the town, so they got into their superhero uniforms and went to save the city. Sungirl shot the monster nutcracker with one of her Sun Beams, broke a part of it off, and a bunch of toys fell off it. Iceboy then kicked its face and broke another piece off of it. Once he did, many books fell off it, and Sungirl caught one labeled "Fairytales." Sungirl replied, "Don't mind if I do." Heatgirl kept flying up to the Nutcracker while blasting it with her Heat Beams and destroying it piece by piece. Then she made a giant fireball, threw it at the giant Nutcracker, and shattered it. Then she landed and brushed off her hands. After they defeated the Nutcracker, they flew around town looking at all the Christmas decorations. Heatgirl remarked, "We never had anything like this back on my home planet." Sungirl said, "Well, they may not have Christmas where you come from, but we have it here."

Once they got home. The Justice Brigade removed their superhero uniforms, and Daisy looked at the fairytale book she had grabbed during the fight. Once she opened it, a page fell out, and she wondered what it was. She read what was on it and tried to figure out which story it belonged to. Daisy recited, "Fairytale book that I hold in my hand, send me straight to Storyland." After she read the spell, the book glowed and opened by itself, and a vortex with a gusty wind tried pulling Daisy into the book. Daisy shouted, "Help!" Her team rushed to Daisy's room and saw her holding onto her chair as a vortex tried to pull her into the book. The others grabbed Daisy, and Daisy let go of the chair she was holding onto. Once she let go, they got sucked into the vortex and screamed as they got sucked into the book.

Once they got pulled in, the book closed by itself, and The Justice Brigade slid down a slide to an arrow sign. Daisy read the signs, asking, "Jack and the Beanstalk? The 3 Little Pigs? Where are we?" Jake pointed down one of the paths and replied, "Not sure, but let's go this way, and maybe we'll find out." The Justice Brigade walked down the path Jake pointed out and saw three houses. Then, a pig came out of the first house made from straw, and Hannah flew up to him and tapped his shoulder. Hannah politely requested, "Excuse me." The first little pig turned around and saw the Justice Brigade. The first little pig said, "Yes." Hannah then inquired, "Could you tell us where we are?" The first little pig replied, "Inside a magic storybook, of course." Then, the first little pig screamed in terror and ran back inside his straw house. Frank asked, "What was that all about?"

A wolf came and walked right by the Justice Brigade. The wolf requested, "Little pig, little pig, let me come in." The first little pig responded, "No, no, no. Not on the hair of my chinny chin chin." The wolf then stated, "Then I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down." Then the wolf took a natural deep breath and blew the straw house away." Sungirl greeted, "Hey!" The wolf turned around and saw the Justice Brigade in their super suits.

Sungirl: "That wasn't very nice."

The wolf: "What will you do about it?"

Sungirl: "This."

Sungirl punched the wolf away. Then the wolf stood back up and tried to blow Sungirl away, but Aquaboy matched him. While the wolf and Aquaboy were having a standoff, Sungirl blasted the wolf away with one of her Sun Beams. The first little pig thanked the Justice Brigade for helping him. Sungirl said, "No problem. Sorry about your house, though." The first little pig replied, "No worries. I'll live with my brother. He lives in a house of sticks."

The Justice Brigade then looked around Fairytale Village. They walked into the dark, scary woods and saw a little girl in a red hood skipping through the forest with a basket full of goodies. They followed her, but then lost her. They then saw a line of houses on the other side of a bridge, so they decided to see if anyone was home in any one of them. On their way across the bridge, they got stopped by a troll who lived under it. "Who's that clip clopping on my bridge?" shouted the troll. Sungirl replied, "Um, we don't mean any harm. We just want to get across." The troll responded, "Oh no, you're not. Because I'm going to eat you instead." The troll ran up to The Justice Brigade, but Aquaboy did three backflips and tried to kick him, but the troll caught him and threw him to the ground. Then Heatgirl jumped in the air and kept trying to kick the troll by swinging her leg back and forth at him, but he shielded himself and then knocked Heatgirl away. Sungirl then shot the troll with a Sun Beam, and it destroyed him since she knew trolls can't stand light. After getting rid of the troll, the Justice Brigade just walked across the bridge without being stopped.

Once they crossed the bridge, they knocked on the first house's door, but no one answered, so they walked in because someone had left it open. Sungirl asked, "Hello. Anybody home?" They saw the place looked like an ordinary house, but then they saw the little girl in the red hood carrying the basket they saw earlier, and spied on her. Red Riding Hood asked, "Grandmother, what big ears you have!" The wolf responded, "The better to hear you with." Red Riding Hood said, "Grandmother, what big eyes you have!" The wolf responded, "The better to see you with." Sungirl said, "And the better to blind you with." Sungirl blasted the wolf's eyes with her Sun Beam, blinding him and making him howl, making Red Riding Hood realize he's not her grandmother. Red Riding Hood then ran out of her grandmother's house, screaming with her basket of goodies.

Since the wolf couldn't eat Red Riding Hood, he decided to eat the Justice Brigade instead. He first blocked the door so the Justice Brigade couldn't escape. Iceboy then shot an ice beam from his finger with an uncarrying look, because he didn't find the wolf a big challenge. Iceboy froze the wolf stiff in ice so it couldn't move. They then escaped the house and went to the next house. The next house looked ordinary, but once again, no one was home, so they just walked in. Once they were in, they saw three chairs at the dining room table, with bowls of porridge on the table. They then heard someone coming inside, so they hid and saw three bears walking in. Papa bear exclaimed, "Someone's been eating my porridge." Mama bear echoed, "Someone's been eating my porridge." Baby bear added, "Someone's been eating my porridge, and they ate it all." Since the door was left open, the Justice Brigade snuck out before the three bears saw them.

The Justice Brigade decided to go to the next house, but on their way there, they started to hear purring. Sungirl asked, "Sush. Do you hear something?" A cat wearing a hat, cape, and boots, holding a sword, then jumped down from the treetops and declared, "Fear me if you dare." Iceboy remarked, "Hey, look, a little cat." Aquaboy added, "And he can talk." The cat then jumped out at The Justice Brigade, brought out its claws, and attacked them, starting with Iceboy. Iceboy begged, "Help! Get it off!" When Sungirl saw it, she tried to kick it, but she ended up kicking Iceboy away instead. Sungirl said, "Sorry." The cat then tripped Sungirl, so Heatgirl tried to catch it, but it dodged her attack, making her fall on Sungirl. It then swung its sword at Aquaboy, and he fell to the ground, too. When the cat jumped and landed on his feet, he used his sword to carve his initial in a tree. The cat declared, "All you fear, Puss in Boots." Sungirl exclaimed, "Oh. I'll kill that cat."

The Justice Brigade heard whistling, turned around, and saw seven dwarfs marching toward them. Since they didn't want to let anyone see them, they flew up into a tree, and the seven dwarfs marched right under them and into the next house. After the dwarfs got home, they figured that the house must belong to Snow White and the seven dwarfs. Puss then threw his sword at the tree branch that the Justice Brigade was on, and they fell out. Puss asked, "Surrender yet? Or do you want more?" Aquaboy took some water from the air and launched it at Puss, soaking him and making him run away in fear since cats don't like water.

"Come on, let's take to the skies before we get in any other trouble," Sungirl recommended

While flying, they saw a tower with a prince at the bottom. The prince called, "Rapunzel. Let down your hair." They then saw long blonde hair fall from the tower's window, and the prince climbed up it to get to the top.

They then saw Little Bo Peep looking for all her sheep, along with an old lady coming out of a shoe house with at least 20 kids. They also saw a princess retrieve her golden ball from a pond and then sneak home. The frog she was with then followed her back to her castle. They then passed another castle where a princess was fast asleep, and a prince kissed her to wake her up. They also passed a creepy-looking castle where they saw a girl in a yellow dress running away on her horse and a beast in a blue suit roaring from the tower. They also saw a blue fairy change a puppet into a living puppet and three blind mice.

When they saw a clearing, they landed and didn't see anyone. A gingerbread man then ran by them, saying, "Run, run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man." The gingerbread man then ran off, and the Justice Brigade followed the trail they were on into a different forest, where they found a gingerbread house. They thought someone lived there and that the person could help them. Iceboy knocked on the door and was waiting for someone to answer. Sungirl then realized who lived there and got worried. Sungirl said, "Guys, we'd better get out of here." Heatgirl said, "Why?" Sungirl said, "Trust me." Then a witch showed up and saw the Justice Brigade at her front door. The witch remarked, "You four look lost and hungry. Why don't you come into my gingerbread cottage, and I'll treat you to a snack?" Sungirl pointed at the witch and said, "No, thank you. I know what you are, and I'll never go inside your house." Heatgirl stated, "Speak for yourself; I'm going inside." Iceboy responded, "Me too." Aquaboy added, "Me too."

Heatgirl, Iceboy, and Aquaboy entered the witch's house, but Sungirl refused. Sungirl pointed at the witch and declared, "No one's fattening up my friends and me." The witch replied, "Too bad you can't stop me." The witch then cast a spell on Sungirl with her wand, sending Sungirl flying. Then the witch went inside her cottage and started to feed the rest of the Justice Brigade. Sungirl was flying through the sky while she was under the witch's spell. Sungirl remarked, "There must be a way to break this spell." Sungirl thought about it and figured out a way. Sungirl added, "Wait a minute." Sungirl brought out her compact from her pocket and opened it. The witch's magic reflected off the mirror inside, breaking Sungirl free. Then Sungirl dropped to the ground and flew back to the witch's cottage.

Once Sungirl returned to the witch's cottage, she flew in through the window and kicked the witch away. Iceboy asked, "Sungirl, what are you doing?" Sungirl saw that her team was fat and almost ready for the oven. Sungirl asked, "Are you kidding? Have you looked in the mirror lately?" The witch tried to blast Sungirl with magic, but Sungirl kept dodging it. Sungirl then jumped, kicked the witch's wand out of her hand, and caught it. Sungirl then blasted her team with the witch's wand and returned them to normal. After she did, Sungirl threw the witch's rod in the fireplace, and the Justice Brigade ran out of the house. Once they got out, the witch's cottage exploded. The Justice Brigade then left the woods and set out to find someone who could help them.

The Justice Brigade flew up into the clouds and spotted a giant castle. Heatgirl flew up to the door's knocker, lifted it with both her arms, and dropped it so the knocker would knock on the door. Then the Justice Brigade heard a bunch of stomping approaching and grew worried. The door then opened, and a giant answered it. The giant asked, "Fe Fi foe sore. Did I hear a knock on my door?" The giant then spotted The Justice Brigade and grabbed them. Heatgirl said, "Let us go." The giant tied The Justice Brigade up and threw them on his shelf with his golden harp. Aquaboy, we've got to get out of these ropes before that giant turns us into dolls. Heatgirl said, "Allow me." Heatgirl used her Heat Vision to cut her strings and break herself free. Then she untied her team, and they flew out of the giant's castle, returning to the village. Iceboy wondered aloud, "There must be someone who can help us get back home." Sungirl replied, "I think there is; follow me to the next story." Iceboy questioned, "Haven't you had enough stories?" Sungirl responded, "Yes, but this one might give us a way out. Now follow me."

Sungirl took her team to a village, and they looked around from the sky. Aquaboy asked, "So, what exactly are we looking for?" Sungirl replied, "That." Sungirl spotted a large house at the end of the village and pointed it out to them. The Justice Brigade landed at the front doors, and Heatgirl almost rang the bell, but Sungirl stopped her. Sungirl grabbed Heatgirl's wrist and said, "Wait. Inside is not our target; the backyard is. Come on." The Justice Brigade peered into the backyard and saw a blonde woman crying in a torn pink dress.

Iceboy inquired, "Who's the poor maiden?" Sungirl replied, "Wait for it." Then, a bunch of magical sparkles appeared near the girl, and a woman appeared beside her. Sungirl explained, "That woman is our ticket out. The blonde maiden is Cinderella, who lives here with her two evil stepsisters and her one evil stepmother. They treat her like a maid instead of part of the family, then tear up her dress so she can't go to the ball with them. The woman talking to her is her fairy godmother. She's nice to Cinderella, gives her a new dress, and lets her go to the ball. Watch." The fairy godmother cast a spell on Cinderella and turned her pink dress into a beautiful one for a princess. Then she made her a pumpkin carriage, turned her mouse friends into horses, and turned her dog into the driver. Then she was helped into the carriage and waved goodbye to her fairy godmother. Sungirl urged, "Come on. Fairy godmother, wait."

The Justice Brigade ran up to the fairy godmother after Cinderella left and asked for her help. The Fairy Godmother said, "Yes." Sungirl clarified, "We're superheroes, not fairytale people like you and Cinderella. And we're not from Fairytale Village. We got her by accident." The fairy godmother responded, "And now you wish that I would wish you home." Sungirl confirmed, "Exactly." The Fairy Godmother stated, "I suppose I could. But that spell only works if you want to go home." Sungirl remarked, "Well, saving the world is a big responsibility." Iceboy added, "But we love doing it together." The Justice Brigade put their hands in, and the fairy godmother used magic to help them escape the book and return home, where they belonged. The Justice Brigade got shot out of the book and landed near the fireplace. Then Sungirl shut the book and grabbed the spell. Then she locked them both up in their evidence room, where they kept all the souvenirs they collected from their villains and missions.

Before locking up the storybook, Sungirl turned to the last page and saw their pictures on it, walking across the words "The End". Sungirl then shut the book and locked it up with its spell. After locking up the storybook, the Justice Brigade continued their Christmas festivities, showing Heatgirl how much fun Christmas can be. And to celebrate them being free of Fairytale Village, they played in the snow and had even more fun.
