"I see, thank you. I would also like to purchase paper and quill for recording important documents." Chronos replied as he tied the sword to his waist.
"Sure thing, the werewolves are considered as an allied group, so you have access to any items considered necessary for this campaign. Give me a moment to bring them out."
"Thank you."
Once they had the papers they went to one of the outer camps areas that had been designated as theirs for the duration of this campaign.
Sitting down Chronos started giving instructions to Sten and advice on how he was training, including the blindfold method that he was currently using. After hearing the details of the method Sten had a few questions.
"So, in the end if we can't sense the second heart we can't train with this method?" Sten asked.
"That's right. I've been training with a blindfold while trying to live a normal life in order to increase my sensory abilities. I don't know if you can use this method, my spatial senses only started showing up after I had absorbed some world energy and partially awakened my bloodline." Chronos said.
Sten thought for a few minutes then asked, "Could we use a partial awakening to kick things off? Like practicing the first part to open the second heart or having another individual open it for us?"
"Practicing the Divine Beast method without being able to sense the second heart runs the risk of having our heart explode, just like with a young magic beast when they first awaken their power. But having someone else open your second heart might work, they would need to at least have reached the first level of bloodline and have extensive control over their power."
Chronos considered how he could go about it without injuring the one practicing the method. If he inserted the power right into the heart, there was a risk that the heart would explode and if it traveled through the body, it might rip the body apart. Even if he had perfect control the sheer power of spatial energy would still damage their body.
If he wanted to help others awaken, then they would need to reach the peak of the second rank at the minimum and needed to practice a healing method or have a priest nearby for emergencies.
"So can you safely awaken my bloodline?"
"No, I'm only partially awakened right now but I can fully awaken the first level bloodline this morning. Also do you practice a healing method? You'll need it to survive the spatial power flowing through your body the first time." Chronos said.
"I know of one, but I haven't practiced it since I was injured. Give me some time to practice then we can try." Sten was rushing things, but Chronos couldn't blame him.
He understood that for members of his clan this was a dream come true.
Just as Chronos sat down to try and awaken his bloodline he heard a strange sound that just wouldn't stop.
Ding-ba-da-ding! Ding-ba-da-ding! Ding-ba-da-ding!
Unable to focus, Chronos opened his eyes and saw a flashing exclamation mark in the corner of his vision. That was new, it had to be connected to the system in some way.
Opening the system Chronos found a message waiting for him.
Selecting it he was greeted with fanfare and illusions of ribbons and confetti that momentarily filled his vision causing him to slightly jump in response.
{Dear users,
It has taken me some time, but I am proud to announce that the Skill Library is now open and ready for your use.
It has been separated into sections for magic and aura which have been further subdivided into elemental affinities. Within each elemental affinity you will find offense, defense, and support skills carefully sorted for your perusal. Where it is possible you can also find special spells or techniques that require certain qualifications to access or use.
No, don't ask as I won't spoil the fun by telling you what the requirements are. That's for you to find out so try many different things and don't forget to enjoy yourselves.
Now to explain the pricing I set, basic skills cover the first to the third rank and have been set for ten system points at the lowest to 50 system points at the highest. The only skills that cost more would be special skills as they can greatly change your combat style and have their own pricing method. Intermediate skills cover the fourth to sixth rank and start at the low price of 50 system points and can go all the way up to 367 system points.
Now I understand that some of you may think that this price is a bit ridiculous but once you reach the lord rank yourselves you will understand just how affordable these skills really are.
As for advanced skills, I'm afraid you will have to reach the sixth rank to find out about those.
Finally in order to assist you in finding the best skills for you I have included an affinity rating to assist you so make sure to pay attention to what it says.
I wish you all the best of luck on your path to power and look forward to supporting you throughout it.
Sincerely, Hrólmir Snowmane.}
Looking through the system, Chronos found a tab for the skill library right next to the status tab. Selecting it he was greeted with several sections, each carrying a different label.
There were sections for basic elements like spirit, fire, water, earth, and wind. Sections for advanced elements like order, void, gravity and other strange elements. But these lists included several elements that he didn't know anything about too like astral or entropy, whatever those were.
Next to each element on the list were affinity ratings that seemed to indicate how compatible he was with each element. On his list the space, void, and gravity elements had the greatest affinities in that order with time and astral being somewhat weaker.
He had some affinity with other elements, but his affinity was so small as to be non-existent and there was no affinity with any of the basic elements.
If this affinity extended to the rest of his clan, then it explained why none of them could gain a bloodline. In order to gain or awaken a bloodline you had to be strong enough to plant an element within your bloodline or sign a contract with an elemental spirit that could develop a bloodline through your contract.
Unfortunately, elemental spirits would only sign contracts with those who had a high affinity to begin with and Chronos had no idea how strong you had to be to implant an element.
Chronos decided to start with his greatest affinities first, so he selected the space, void, and gravity sections. Once they opened, he saw lists of skills with numerous different abilities, but each one was 30 system points or more.
"Expensive, but it makes sense when these abilities are strong enough to counter most other elements." He complained.
Looking over the lists he didn't like many of these skills and the ones he did like were so expensive that he could only purchase a few of them. Right now, he only had 237 system points right now, they must have increased from his battles against the devil and closing the second tear.
However, while he was reading the skill descriptions, he realized that he could barely understand most of them. The gravity skills at least somewhat made sense but that was his third greatest affinity, and he wanted to start with his best or second-best affinity.
But his second-best affinity made no sense at all! One skill talked about being nothing, but the very next skill talked about nothing being active? How was that even possible? And yet another skill had something to do with laws being dissolved?
That one had to be a special skill as it needed more points than the highest intermediate grade skill.
Worst of all, his strongest affinity for space barely made more sense than void did. It talked about warping and multiple coordinates and what was this skill on layers overlapping? What was a layer!?
Seeing all of this information Chronos felt like he had suddenly gained a huge amount of valuable knowledge and no knowledge at all at the same time. He needed basic knowledge that he was missing if he wanted to make sense of these skills.
Carefully he sorted through the skills until he found something unusual. There was a book included amongst them {Spatial Relativity for Kids. The place to begin your journey!}
It was surprisingly kind to include a book that would teach you what you needed right from the beginning.
Then he saw the price, 100 points.
That made more sense, but if it could really teach him what he needed to know about space to use his skills properly then it was worth it. Checking the other sections, he found similar books with differing prices he could only assume were priced according to the difficulty of researching each element.
The book for gravity was only 50 points but the one for void was an outrageous 175 points. These were only the basics of the basics, like teaching a child how to hold a sword. Not even swinging the sword just holding it yet they were already this expensive!
