They were all frozen in place.
Clouds gathered, covering up the sky.
Heavily breathing, their eyes locked on those two hunting eyes. Then suddenly, its eyes moved—and then there it was...
Well, this is it, fellow readers. I guess this is the end.
"What..."
All three of them said in sync.
What they saw was not a unique. Instead, it was a small dragon-like species with tiny wings. It looked weak, and then suddenly it jumped on Laf.
"Ahhhhhh!" Buram shouted. "It's eating Laf! Help him, Stela!"
"Shut up, Buram," Laf said.
"It's not eating me, but licking my face," said Laf.
"Good, let's kill that thing fast before it ends up cleaning its food," said Stela.
"You too, shut up. It clearly means no harm. We can't hurt it."
The dragon was white like snow, with hints of black spots on its wings and tail. It had eyes like blue gemstones, and wings smooth but hard like leather. The dragon had ears like a cat and a small nose. Though a dragon, it also seemed like a cat.
"Mom..."
"What did you say, Buram? I ain't your mother," Laf said.
"What are you saying? I didn't say anything," Buram said.
"Yeah, enough of your jokes. I know you just called me mom," said Laf.
"Laf, he didn't say anything. Did the dragon lick your brain smooth?" said Stela.
Laf's face suddenly turned white as a ghost, and then he looked at the dragon.
"Mom...
I think the dragon called me mom right now." Laf thought , with confusion on his face.
He decided not to jump to conclusions and changed the topic.
"Well, enough of you both trying to kill her. Let's first go to the treehouse before anyone spots us with her," said Laf, standing up and holding the dragon like a baby in his arms.
"Do we really have to? I mean, just throw it out of the dome and call it a day," said Buram.
"Shut up!" both Laf and Stela said, giving him a mean look.
All three... four of them entered the treehouse.
Laf tried to make the dragon sit on the hammock, but it kept coming back to his lap and eventually slept.
"It looks like it's injured, seeing how it's unable to move its wing or stand properly," said Stela while carefully checking its wings.
"I think it's just waiting for us to lower our guard so it can attack us," said Buram while cowering in a corner.
Yeah, like she wants to eat you.
"By God, Buram, calm down. It's too small of a dragon, and while it was licking me, I noticed it didn't have any teeth. There is no way it can swallow us," said Laf.
"Ohhh, you should have said so. Well, I am great, Buram—even if it had teeth, it couldn't harm me," said Buram, puffing his chest.
"It has small claws though," said Stela while checking the dragon carefully.
Buram crawled back to the corner and said, "Throw it out of the dome..."
Laf exhaled. "This is a serious matter. Though entry children aren't that uncommon, inside a dome—But of a dragon species—is unheard of."
Dragons are not like other entries. They might not even be considered entries because of how rare they are, and no one might have ever seen them in their whole life. They even seem like a myth, like the lost world Furna.
Stela said, "Dragons huh , according to our school books, they don't live here but in the Parafang Mountains, where no human can reach unless they have superhuman powers."
"But what is a dragon child even doing here? The Parafang Mountains are far away from our town," said Buram, still cramping in the corner.
"So many things are unknown, but one thing I know is that she is not normal, and I would like to keep her," said Laf while caressing the dragon sitting on his lap.
"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!!!" Buram shouted.
The dragon woke up and yawned, looking at Buram.
"She is an entry, and you also know how dangerous she is no matter what. We can't keep her. If you can't get rid of her, we all will be in serious trouble," said Buram, pointing at the dragon, his eyes wide with anger.
"Fools like you are the reason towns get wiped out. What happens if it's parent comes here to look for it? They would wipe out our whole town," said Buram.
"Buram, calm down. Shouting won't solve anything," said Stela.
"Enough of you two. You both know an entry is an entry, not your pet. And that thing will get all of us killed ." said Buram angrily.
Buram stood up and climbed down the treehouse, anger on his face.
"Buram, wait—" said Stela.
"Let him go, Stela. You and I both know he won't say a word about it, but he won't talk to us until he calms down," said Laf.
The dragon looked at him and snuggle him.
"Well, let's keep her here and get her some food. Listen, you little one, don't go on a rampage and stay here. We'll be back in a few hours," said Laf.
The dragon looked at him, blinked, and smiled , it looked like as she was able to understand everything they said.
Laf and Stela both got of the treehouse and went to get food.
After half an hour, the dragon was sitting on the hammock when suddenly a voice came from the entrance of the treehouse.
It was Buram.
"Ahh, so they went away and kept you here .What should I do with you—get rid of you, throw you out of the dome, or maybe report you to the guard?" said Buram, looking at the little dragon.
"Well, I won't do anything. I don't want to make both of them mad. Well, what do we have here—"
He looked in the cupboard, but there was nothing to eat. "I guess it's finished."
The dragon came to him and caressed its face against his leg.
"Stay away from—"
AHHHHHH—
A sudden roar shook both of them. It looked like there was another entry, and it was near the treehouse.
"Shit, we are in trouble. Don't tell me it's your parent," said Buram as he looked out the window. "Well, fortunately it's not your parents, but a ground-based entry."
The entry had horns, shaped like a bull, with a torso big enough to carry five people. It had red eyes and was running wild.
"We cannot stay here. It might smell us and try to bring down the treehouse by breaking the trunk with its horns," said Buram.
He picked up the dragon, looked at it, and said, "Don't get me wrong, but I don't want to upset both of my friends—that's why I am helping you."
They got off the ladder and tried to run away. Unfortunately, they seemed to be spotted by the entry. Even though it saw them, it didn't move and waited for them to run.
As soon as they started running and were far enough, they heard another sound. Looking back, they spotted the entry again.
"What—what? But we got far away from it. Don't tell me it's a unique," said Buram, shocked, tightly holding the dragon. The dragon squeaked a little.
There are many types of entries, and one of them is unique. These types of entries might appear normal, but they have certain traits that make them rare and powerful—abilities that are beyond imagination.
"Looks like this unique can hide its presence. But why is it here? Ahh, such bad timing."
Buram looked around, trying to find somewhere safe, but he was surrounded by trees and rocks.
Buram thought, "All I can do is hide and wait for a guard or instructor to come. I am no match for it, and it will be difficult to run with this dragon."
Buram picked up a stone from the ground and threw it at a beehive above the unique.
The beehive fell on it, and bees swarmed around the creature. It started to get irritated, swinging its horns and making the bees scatter.
But it gave enough time for Buram to hide near the bushes and use flowers to camouflage his and the dragon's scent.
"This won't be enough. I need to think of something," Buram thought, his hands were shaking as he breathed heavily.
"I am not as strong as my brother Kai. I can't face the unique head-on. I need to buy time until someone arrives."
Suddenly, he noticed a large boulder a bit far away. The boulder was as big as the unique.
He made up a trap—simple but efficient.
He stood on a stone a short distance away and shouted, "Hey, you huge chunk of mass, come here!" sticking out his tongue and mocking it.
The unique grew angry and charged toward Buram. He panicked and jumped off the stone.
Buram ran toward the boulder. "Shit, he is fast. I need to hurry up and climb the boulder, or I will be squashed," Buram thought.
He had covered the boulder with some vines from nearby trees. These vines were thick and hard to tear.
The unique was still at some distance but charging forward, destroying bushes, stones, and small trees in its path. It was full of fury.
Buram reached the boulder but waited for the unique to come closer. It kept getting nearer. As it smashed another rock, Buram began to climb—but suddenly realized his foot was stuck in one of the vines.
"Why does this keep happening to me? Ahhh!" Buram said, trying to untangle himself. His hands trembled. He had no sharp tool. It was useless.
"I can't give up here… ahh, all because of that stupid dragon," Buram thought.
The unique got closer and closer.
Suddenly, the vine tangled around Buram's foot was cut—and Buram climbed the boulder, while something was hanging from his waist.
The unique hit the boulder with its horns. Although it had managed to break all the stones in its path, it wasn't able to break the boulder. The vines also broke its momentum, and it got tangled in them.
But somehow, it still managed to break free and looked up at Buram. Seeing its eyes, Buram started breathing heavily."Shit… I knew it was strong, but still, I didn't think it would break out so easily."
Suddenly, an arrow landed in front of the unique. It didn't hit it directly but managed to distract it.
It was Sir Kai. He was there, with two other people—Laf and Stela.
"Finally… what took you so long?" Buram sighed, sitting down on the boulder.
What the hell is that?
Well, dear readers… looks like Buram went ahead and formed his own party—with the unique.
