A few hours later, inside the luxurious carriage heading toward the D'Aurélion territory, the atmosphere was calm and quiet.
Aurora was fast asleep on Gray's lap, her head resting comfortably against his thigh.
Her long auburn hair spilled across his legs like silk, and her breathing was slow and peaceful. One of her arms was loosely wrapped around his waist, holding him even in her sleep.
She looked completely content, a small, satisfied smile on her lips.
Gray sat quietly, with one hand gently resting on her shoulder as he stared out the window at the passing scenery.
The carriage moved smoothly, the soft clatter of wheels on the road the only sound breaking the silence.
A few minutes earlier, Aurora had woken up briefly, yawned cutely, and handed him a rolled-up scroll with a sleepy smile.
"Here… everything I know about the demons guarding your father," she had murmured, kissing his thigh before falling back asleep.
