Numb! Yang Bo felt completely numb!
Dumbfounded! The people at Base 16 were completely dumbfounded. They watched helplessly as Yang Bo's mecha and several Mutants were hit by the Orbital Laser Cannon. One of them fled into a cave, while the other three were blown to pieces on the spot.
"Bastard! Bastard!" Inside the cave, Blood Bat cursed loudly while coughing up blood. As one of the five great Guardians under the General, he had actually been schemed against.
Right now, Blood Bat looked like a middle-aged, blonde Caucasian man. The armor on his body wriggled continuously as if it were alive.
"There must be a mole!" Blood Bat thought as he coughed up blood. His mind raced, and putting the three recent incidents together, he arrived at a single conclusion: there was a traitor.
Mecha Pilot +16!
Mecha Pilot +16!
Mecha Pilot +16!
Three consecutive messages appeared, accompanied by a notification for Sound Wave Control.
"Three died. What was that bright light just now?" Yang Bo muttered to himself.
"These guys appeared out of thin air. What kind of ability is that?"
"Were those four coming for me?" Yang Bo was completely dumbfounded. He had just wanted to properly "entertain" the little animals. Who the hell told them to hide in the grass? And who told them to mess with a fisherman's spot?
A black screen was just a black screen. When an email finally arrived, Yang Bo opened it.
"We apologize, esteemed player. Your mecha was destroyed by the base's remote defense system. We are now compensating you with a new mecha free of charge. In addition, as a reward for discovering hostile target units, you have been awarded 500,000 Gold Coins." The official email read just like that.
Below it was a single 'Accept' button. There was no option to appeal, much less complain.
Yang Bo sneered internally. Screw this, he was going to change locations. He couldn't stay at Base 16 anymore. Those invisible guys must have had their eyes on him the moment he left the base.
He immediately called customer service.
"Sir, how may I help you?" The customer service representative's voice sounded somewhat mechanical.
"I want to change bases. Base 16 blew up my mecha again. It has caused severe physical and psychological damage to me," Yang Bo directly stated his demand.
"I apologize, sir. The game does not currently offer a base transfer service."
"What the hell is your base even doing? They blow up my mecha every single time! This game is completely anti-human. I'm taking you to court! This is a blatant disregard for human rights and a trampling of the law!" Yang Bo was absolutely determined to change bases.
At this time, a video of Yang Bo getting blown up had surfaced on the forums. It had started when Yang Bo threw his first Shock Wave Bomb, which attracted the attention of others. The other Mecha Pilots thought someone was fighting a polluted creature. Unexpectedly, when they arrived, they saw four Mutants besieging Yang Bo, right before his mecha was blown to pieces and one of the Mutants fled into a cave.
The people who witnessed this scene didn't dare to pursue. Surviving a direct hit from the base's defensive weapons... that was terrifying.
"Holy crap, isn't that Bird Slayer Brother?"
"What kind of trash game is this? He wasn't killed by the enemy, but by his own side."
"Bird Slayer Brother? What's the context?"
"This is the second time Bird Slayer Brother has been blown up by the base. What's wrong with this broken game? Damn it, let's go report them."
"Exactly! Who could stand this? Getting your mecha blown up at the drop of a hat causes massive psychological damage."
"What psychological damage? This guy is just a lunatic who kills small animals for fun. He went out to kill bats again today."
"Upstairs, use your brain. He just casually burned some grass and managed to smoke out an Infiltrator?"
"He should definitely ask for psychological compensation. No one could endure this."
"From a lawyer's perspective, they should definitely pay up. The player has already paid the fees, so a valid contract is established."
"Do you guys think there's a possibility that this Bird Slayer Brother is actually a top-tier expert?"
The forums were buzzing with discussions about Yang Bo, who had been blown up twice by the base's defense system.
The higher-ups at the base were also speechless. They had admitted fault the first time since it was their base that fired the shot. But the second time, it was the orbital defense system. They had absolutely no authority over that.
As for changing bases, it was highly troublesome. It involved highly classified data channels that utilized new technology. These confidential channels were entirely outside the base's jurisdiction.
"We suggest the player change their IP address and re-enter the game," the customer service representative could only reply.
Yang Bo immediately asked, "Can the in-game data be migrated over?"
"Players can convert their in-game currency into Credit Points," the customer service continued.
Realizing they were completely shameless and unyielding, Yang Bo was left speechless, even though he knew this was all remote-controlled.
"Then compensate me with three hundred Shock Wave Bombs and three hundred Miniature Hydrogen Bombs." This was Yang Bo's ultimate goal.
"We can provide the Shock Wave Bombs, but we can only give a maximum of one hundred Miniature Hydrogen Bombs." The customer service representative waited for thirty seconds before replying.
"So, six hundred bombs in total?" Yang Bo aggressively squeezed them for all they were worth. Since he couldn't change bases, he might as well extort some items.
If worst came to worst, he would just have to be more careful in the future. And if it really became unplayable, he could always just quit the game, right?
Furthermore, Yang Bo had a crazy idea. It seemed the space weapons above the planet where his mecha was located were highly responsive. If those Mutants were targeting him, wouldn't that actually be an opportunity? As long as he attacked the Mutants first and waited to be blown up again, wouldn't his abilities skyrocket effortlessly?
"Agreed."
"Deal." Yang Bo quickly accepted. What psychological damage? Nonsense. He didn't have the fragile nerves of the people in this world. It was just a black screen; it wasn't a big deal at all.
Looking at his brand new mecha, along with the five hundred Shock Wave Bombs and one hundred Miniature Hydrogen Bombs in his inventory, Yang Bo knew he had asked for an exorbitant amount. Based on their retail price, these bombs were worth over ten million Gold Coins.
However, Yang Bo had guessed that the base didn't have the authority to give away Gold Coins, since Gold Coins could be exchanged for Credit Points. In-game supplies, on the other hand, were a different story. His actual internal expectation had only been fifty Shock Bombs and ten Miniature Hydrogen Bombs.
The shockwave of a Hydrogen Bomb carried a brief Energy pulse. As long as the target was within a certain range, it could interfere with various systems of the enemy's mecha, even the Biological Mechas of the Mutants. This was also why mechas didn't entirely rely on Intelligent Systems. Once they were jammed, it would be game over.
Feeling immensely satisfied, he logged off the game and checked his Skills. The one with the biggest change was Sound Wave Control: Grandmaster (14,350/100,000).
Mecha Pilot: Intermediate (56/100).
Lying in the bathtub, Yang Bo carefully pondered over Sound Wave Control. This was vastly different from his previous Sound Wave Positioning.
He blew a short whistle.
"Tsk, tsk." In an instant, Yang Bo felt as if he had gained a god's-eye view. Everything within a three-hundred-meter radius of the small building he lived in was completely covered. Furthermore, it was far more advanced than the line-based outlines from before. What he perceived was exactly like normal vision. However, there were exceptions; things like power lines and cables with shielding equipment appeared blurry.
In the building next door, more than one young lady was taking a bath...
Yang Bo's heart stirred. He turned his head to look at the cup on the washstand and reached out to snap his fingers.
CRACK! With a crisp sound, the ceramic cup on the washstand instantly fractured, shattering into countless pieces.
