"You're on your own, you know that right?" Mim angrily eyed Wenny.
"I know, 'He' is already coming. So do me a favor," He reached up. His fingers hover at the edge of his mask. Slowly removing it.
Beneath was a face none except Mim has seen it in eons. Dark circles carved deep beneath his eyes from sleepless ages. But A soft, weary eyes reflected her. She had never seen that look before.
Mim stared at his face for a while, despite everything "That white mask never suited you, you know."
"Properly teach William, okay?" Wenny was about to turn when Mim grabbed him.
Mim in swift movements punched Wenny in the face. "This is for making me work overtime!" Mim was the first to leave.
Wenny stood alone, rubbing his jaw. He looked up at the sky. "It...hurts," enjoying the silence little bit longer. "Hahaha."
Looking at a star in the distance coming to his direction Wenny clouded the arena.
Wenny's psychopathic smile widened as he put his mask on his face. "Come to me, [Guiding Star Light]. Let's see if being loved by Creators actually makes a difference!"
---
Time was still midnight only few seconds may have passed when mim arrived.
'Weird, I was absent for 12 seconds it should have been 12 days since I left. Yet time hasn't moved?'
"Oh mom, you're back," William came out of the barn.
"Why aren't you asleep and this time was it your doing?"
William having been caught laughed awkwardly. "Yeah, I was experimenting with the genre system."
William looked to the side of Mim not wanting to say it but feeling uncomfortable. "Why are you crying?"
Mim didn't know what to say. After she arrived, Wenny sent her a message. It was supposed to arrive way in the future but because of William's distortion of time, It arrived early.
William resumed time.
With it the last line that Mim couldn't hear was also gone. Towards the future.
Mim silently wiped her tears.
Bells started ringing, people who were asleep all started crying, wailing.
William looked back at Mim. 'She hasn't recovered just yet,' grabbing a small farming scythe William went towards the village to see what is going on leaving Mim behind.
Getting closer he could see some houses engulfed by fire.
Rushing into danger. In his vision a bunch of bandits burning a house.
Ruthlessly killing everyone that tries to leave the house.
Hearing a child cry William gritted his teeth rushing inside.
Inside was pitch black smoke, with only bright red flames giving color. "Don't worry I'm coming!"
When his path was blocked he used the small scythe to pull, lift, and hook the burning wood away.
He was on the second floor with only one door left, the path he took to arrive has been engulfed in flames.
Luckily the child's crying was most loud from this door.
Kicking the door open. "....", '....'
*Crunch* the wailing stopped.
In the room it wasn't just him and the baby.
Instead of being lucky, we were truly unlucky to witness the scene that just happened in that place.
Standing on two legs, it's every muscle bulging with veins, it's head resembling a hammer shark.
It was twice the size of William.
As William kicked opened the door this creature chopped on the offspring right in front of him.
The baby's head which this thing was holding rolled towards the fire.
William's eyes blazing tackled this beast, jumping from the second floor.
The bandits seeing the monstrous creature all screamed. "Everyone run that Hob-goblin escaped from the fire!"
Hob-goblin grabbing William by his arms opened its massive jaws greedily wanting to bite.
William quickly put the scythe through the lower jaw and pulled it hard.
Hob-goblins lower jaw split into two, hanging loose in the middle.
It's bloody, razor teeth clearly visible.
One of the bandits looking back saw William fighting against it. 'Isnt that boy that stayed at my barn! Maybe we have hope!' he shouted loud. "Fire! That thing cannot survive in fire!"
William somehow understood half the story. 'Those aren't bandits, they saw that creature and tried to burn it, but why did they kill the people?'
William in front of the burning house, just in the middle of the Hob-goblin and the house.
Not being able to use it's mouth the Hob-goblin rushed at William in dangerous speed.
William's battle experience told him the most optimal way was to get charged.
Instead of dodging he took the full force yet but it didn't stop there. The Hob-goblin fueled by rage still moved forward in the fire.
His organs shook slightly but it's nothing for Mim to heal.
William was struck by a flaming wooden pole that was working as an support.
Hob-goblin didn't stop still charging into him.
"That's enough!" William grabbed the hammer like head with pure strength. Trying to bend it downward both sides after being bent 30 degrees snapped.
The beast got down in pain. William used the scythe to pull the support. It barely moved at first but soon it started to shake. Being damaged by fire it broke from the top. Falling on the Hob-goblin on the ground.
It shrieked in pain. "That's for eating a baby!" As he was about to leave his leg was grabbed by the Hob-goblin.
It wouldn't have been a problem but he didn't count the smoke affecting him.
The house creaked in warning as the house will soon fall.
"Damn it!" He cursed as the energy was leaving him. Plus the Hob-goblin wanting to die together with him didn't let go.
Soon the house fall down a large amount of ash flew everywhere.
The house roof that somehow maintained was not burning also.
William coughing loudly opened his eyes. He was being hold by Mim.
