"Because right now? That anger is eating you up." She took a step closer, pointing at me. "You're going to end up just like him."
Everything in me went still. "What?"
"You heard me," she didn't back down. "You're going to end up cold and distant just like Dad. Angry at everyone, and pushing people away until there's no one left."
My jaw tightened. "I'm not him," I snapped. "Don't say that!"
"Aren't you?" she fired back instantly. "Because right now? You're doing a pretty good impression."
I shook my head, as my fingers started trembling. "Please don't say that…"
Her voice hardened again. "I'm scared for you."
My chest tightened. My legs wouldn't stop shaking.
"You're going to lose everyone who actually cares about you if you keep going this way."
I let out a bitter laugh, hiding my pain. "They'll leave anyway."
Diane's expression flickered. "You're still saying that?"
"It's true," I shot back, finally looking at her. "They always do."
