SleepyWalkerYN

Summary:

Everyone knows the story of the great Arthur Leywin, the protagonist of "The Beginning After the End". After being a king of a technological world like ours, he ends up being reborn in a world where there is magic, with technology being at a medieval level.

But what if there was another person reborn in that world? Someone who isn't just going through 2 lives, like Arthur/Grey, but so many, that its actual age may be greater than or equivalent to that of deities found there?

Well, that person will turn out to be one cursed to forever suffer these rebirths. But will this curse ever end? Can even Fate destroy this?

Come read, and find out, whether this cursed addition, and their meaning in this world, will make the fate of those in problem easier or more difficult.

DISCLAIMERS: "The Beginning After the End" isn't my creation. TBATE is written and owned by TurtleMe.

A More Experienced (aka. AME) is an original series of fanfics made by me (SleepyWalker), where each fanfic we see one of the Cursed One's adventures between their multiple lifes. Because of that, there are always references of other series, these being on attacks, items, jokes, names, etc. (Hance, why I added "Multiple Crossovers" Tag)

Chapter Text

[3rd person POV]

In a great world, filled with magic, fantastic creatures, deities, demons, and even simple mortal beings, that only had common lifes, a battle was taking place. This long and tiring battle, where the forces of an unknown evil had showed up, or rather, being amplified by an external thing that shouldn't be there.

At the moment, this event was finally near its end, only one being was needed to be killed, so that, in theory, the war would be over, or at least, more controllable by the forces of good. The one to be killed was the so called external force who wasn't supposed to exist, the owner of a great castle, the one being called the leader of the demon lords' circle, the great demon lord of corruption, Zalgnity.

And who would do this act? To go kill such a being?

A group of heroes, that were made with 30 members, most of those were summoned by the gods themselves, the others were warriors and mages born in that world, who decided to go together and give support. All of them being the best of the best in their roles.

However, at the moment of this called final encounter, only 4 were left…

Time to time, in the middle of the fights, both between and inside the evil castles of the other lords, some of the members of this party fell into despair or in their deaths. And among the 4 remaining members, there was a healer, blessed by the goddess of love; an assassin, carrying with him a mixed blood between humans and elves; a mage, who could take monsters out of books, summoning them and turning their existence into her strength; and their leader, which wasn't actually the first option, as, between the fallen brothers and sisters, the original leader was killed in an attempt of saving most of the team from an apocalyptic type of destruction.

Who was the leader currently? Who was that second option? A simple farmer boy, who was recruited when working as a magic soldier in one of the heroes' paths. Chosen by the party itself as leader, due to being not only rumble, but also a person who could understand each member perfectly, someone who could glue them all together and make strategies so fast, using his knowledge about them, that most would even think he had clairvoyance.

"No, I wasn't chosen by any god, I'm just lucky inside the unluckiness." It is what he always said.

Even so, he was now their leader and someone with their pure trust, so two gods decided to give a little, those being the one who represents Justice, and the one who represents Thunder…

The group invaded the castle with mastery, taking the greatest care to attack any guards there without alarming their presence in the start, and after that, they went up the floors…

"That was too easy, dont you think, Glaipper?" The healer spoke to the assassin, in soft whispers.

"Yeah, that was pretty easy, Thomp. Luz, what do you think about that?" The assassin was intrigued by the response he would receive from his current boss.

"I think you guys need to shut up soon and activate our protection spell again. We don't know if the guards were spread out evenly, or if more are focused in that madman's main hall." The one to say dry like that was the blonde mage.

The leader, shaking his head, agreed with his beloved mage, as how the others didn't looked truly focused on the task. "Well, let's go then…" He said, cleaning his sword a little from the fresh blood which stained it.

With such order, the healer activated a spell, reciting it poetically, until all 4 heroes were surrounded by purple and red aura. From that moment on, that's when the tension really started to build.

They walked on the stairs, reaching the upper floors, and strangely, they didn't find anyone, there weren't guards or sign about which floor the so called Zalgnity was on, as his aura was throughout the entire castle. It was impossible to locate him using any trick they knew. Each step was a tension of surprise.

After some floors without presence of living beings, they finally found the demon. He was in a huge room, full of guards who didn't move, but were looking at the group with soulless stares. The demon seems to not care about the groups that just arrived, as he was just looking at the window of that room.

[Luz Jaymonds POV]

Walking those floors, without anyone in sight, was a small nightmare, compared to what we would face.

The demon, the source of our problems, that damned one, was sitting and watching the window, like it was a relaxing day, as if he was just having a good peaceful glance of a garden. And on top of that, all those guards, lined up so that we could see their lord, and at the same time, they looked alive and not, as if they were mortal beings petrified.

"Gosh, this scene… he is mocking us…? Ah… this just makes me want to kill him faster…" I thought, bitting a little of my bottom lip, just to contain my anger a little longer, all energy should be used in this battle. "This mother fucker doesnt seems to see us as threat… even the other lords had some reaction…"

A little blind by this feeling, I gave a single step, but soon as I did, Maryliny, my greatest companion and mage, pulled me by the back side of my armor. And that is when I noticed.

In just that single time for a step. Zalgnity had just unleashed an attack, a massive slash using a sword with black blade, which came flying toward us, all the guards being decapitaated in the process by that arcane move. It was lucky that our group was out of reach, with the only damage on us being the slightly feeling that I almost got a superficial cut on my neck.

"I always need to thank the gods for having her in my life, don't I?" Was the first thought I had after realizing what truly happened.

"Argh!!! Damn it!! Are you serious!? Do you know how long it takes to activate this move?!" The demon said, glaring at Mary and me, while striking a pose with the swing of his sword…

Was he mocking us even more?

He continued to talk, his voice distorting. "Anyway… Come on, inferior beings! Your attacks won't even bother me! Your world is supposed to be from the weak side."

"Well, we've got something planned for you then, Bastard. Delta plane folks, NOW!!" I roared while putting my sword in front of me, my other hand touching the blade, smearing it with my own blood.

With this order having been given, my companions were going to do things as we had previously planned. In fact, there were 10 possible attack strategies for us to use against this lunatic demon. But having him as the only enemy, and him being on the opposite side of me in this big place, there was only one perfect plan for it.

As planned, Thompson went to the right, just behind Glaipper, and Maryliny was standing in front of me, summoning two ghost knights and a spirit archer using her book, so that one knight would go towards the demon from the front, the other go through the left, and the archer being on my left, shooting magic arrows at the enemy.

The demon lord seemed to use his sword to defend himself from the arrows, making loud impact noises.

Glaipper quickly headed towards the enemy, being close enough, he jumped and enchanted his daggers, with Thomp using an assist spell, making our assassin float. In this situation, he threw the daggers towards Zalgnity, who ended up being hit by only one, while the other returned to the assassin. The daggers were enchanted with a magic that slowed the opponent.

The two summoned knights managed to reach our opponent, attacking him, while, even though he was slower, he managed to decapitate one of them with his strength, making that ghost disappear and resulting in Mary coughing up some blood.

"You all are kidding me?! This is all you have?? I thought this would be a better fight!" The demon yelled with annoyance.

While this was happening, I started to recite a spell, as my blade was already completely smeared with my blood. Mary looked at me with a smile, just as if to reassure me that she was fine, even with a little more blood coming out of her mouth, for a clear reason, the second knight was being killed too.

"We have to hold on longer!!" She said, starting another spell. "Hail to the spirits, coming from the underworld to make up for their sins! Projectable hell!!"

The summoned spirit archer now shot an arrow of pure fire in the direction of the demon lord, who tried to defend himself again with his sword, but ended up being taken back a little by the impact, with his back against the giant window.

Was it stronger than he thought? Maybe he underestimanting us is actually a good thing.

"This is for my family, Villainous Being!" I saw Glaipper screaming with all the fury he had, starting to attack with full power.

"I expected this anger from only Humans or Orcs! But even a Half-Elf!?! As far as I know, this part of your blood only knows how to cry in fear, ever since the burning of your precious tree!!" Zalgnity spoke, taunting the half-elf assassin, as they were both facing each other, the high sound of metal being made by the blades of the dagger and sword clashing with each other.

"What was it called again? Yggdrasil?" He said the name of the most important mana-tree to ever exist, just made my elf friend angrier and irrational.

I saw that whole scene, while my concentration was more on reciting that important magic, so important, that took a long time to do and that was for a reason, its function was to invoke the fury of all the gods, and annihilate the enemy with that power. It was very Overpower for my first attack, I know, but I wanted to kill him so bad.

I want this to end so fast….

Mother… father… I just want to come back already at home, and tell you my story…

"... Then I invoke you, mothers, fathers, children of all the gods, your souls will be my key, key to open the door of our creators, to call them with all help, to tell them about all the evil that has happened! OH!! OUR TRUE LORDS, SEE OUR PROBLEMS! I CALL YOU THROUGH THIS BLOODY BLADE, SMOOTHED BY THE BLOOD OF YOUR CASTER! I KNOW YOU DON'T DO THAT, FOR THE LOVE YOU HAVE FOR US, BUT I PRAY! I BEG!! GO DOWN WITH YOUR HATE TO THIS WORLD IN A SINGLE TOUCH! HAIL ARCANUM! THE DEATH!" I finally finished what I believed was the best way to end this war and kill the Mastermind of this suffering.

"GET OUT OF THERE!" Mary shouted, warning our other 2 companions. Glaipper managed to get out of the way, because of his speed buff, Thompson wasn't that lucky, with the corruption demon taking him by the right shoulder and sticking his sword in him, our beloved companion and healer was now being used as a shield by our final enemy.

"THOMP!!" The 3 of us say in unison.

With tears streaming down my face, I didn't stop that spell, pointing the blade towards one of my friends and the opponent, my body was surrounded by auras of different colors in addition to lightning and a layer of wind that circled my armor. I could see the soulless one smiling at me while my friend was there trying to stay alive and get out of him, even with the sword going through his chest.

I screamed in rage, my bloodied sword starting to glow, unleashing a powerful and completely unnatural lightning bolt that traveled towards the two in front of me, piercing them. I could see the bolt continuing through the window and going in towards the sky, making the clouds that released their heavy snow around the castle dissipate almost immediately.

Because he was only a human, Thompson was disintegrated right there, on the other hand, the lord of corruption, was halfway, with his limbs having been disintegrated and having a huge hole in his chest, where would normally be his heart, this if he even had one... He didn't seem to be alive, just lying there, not breathing. I didn't want to, for the loss of my friend, but unconsciously, I smiled.

"Thompy...." Mary said, seeing that scene still in shock and with a crying voice, taking a few steps, but not getting close to where our friend once was.

"Relax... Now he must be in a calm and peaceful place... The gods must be rewarding him for this sacrifice..." I said, walking towards her and hugging her from behind, trying to comfort her, my face also wet from my tears. She turned around, hugging me tight.

"So..it's finally over?.. Can we go home?" Glaipper said as he put his hands on our shoulders, also for comfort, he seems to be trying act cold, just to endure the pressure of what happened.

"Well...yes. This ancient magic.. It has immense potency, even shattering a demon's soul..." I said, taking a deep breath, thinking it was over.

"You're right, it shatters the soul of a demon... But thanks to your little friend, I didn't disappear..."

We heard that intense, frightening voice, and I could see over Mary's shoulder, that bastard, even in those conditions, could still talk and not only that, he somehow managed to pick up momentum and head towards us. With Mary in front of me, I quickly pushed her away to avoid her from being attacked and at that same moment, I held my sword more firmly, positioning it so that he would be impaled.

I had closed my eyes at that moment, my fear of the surprise attack holding me.

But when I opened them…

I saw myself standing in an empty place…

At first I was confused... So confused...

I looked scared in all directions, I only saw that darkness and a black onyx floor, which reflected purple, red and golden light that came from nowhere.

"W-What is this place?... Maryl!?... Glaip!?....." I yelled while I didn't see anyone and started to running. I wasn't able to feel the air from there, and I couldn't even feel the ground I was stepping on.

After running for a long time, I start to walk.. And than I saw something floating and shining in gold in the distance. I walked to it, it seemed to be a panel with a confused aura, on it my name was displayed, along side a single question...

"Ready to continue?" with only two options to choose: "Yes" and "Learn more".

I clicked on the second option it gave me, and an angelic voice, very reminiscent of Maryliny's, began to speak.

"Congratulations, Luz Jaymonds! You were the only one, after centuries, to be compatible with our immense magic. We are incredibly grateful that you used it for something heroic, like killing the great evil of corruption. But we saw that before he was finally destroyed, he not only gave you one last attack, but infected your body with a piece of something we might call 'soul of corruption'." Said that voice, with the last sentence being spoken in a worried voice.

"What is this!?! Maryl, where are you?! and... what is this soul of corruption?" I was quite surprised and confused by the situation.

"Sorry, hero. Your beloved mage is not here. We chose a familiar voice so we wouldn't scare you..." Said that same voice, still worried and a little sad, but soon returning to my last question. "The soul of corruption is a curse and also part of the being that was the lord you killed. That same curse causes you to be forced to go to another world and be controlled by corruption, as if the high demon had chosen you as his successor from chaos."

"Are you telling me that I will be reborn and become him!?!"

"You would, but not anymore. Our presence as deities managed to at least make you able to revive in another world, but still be yourself. With a single however, for not becoming the new lord of corruption, the curse will try to activate again, always and always, until you get it, but on the other hand, our magic will make sure that never happens." The voice seemed to say happily at the end.

"...wait...isn't that a loop?..." I said thoughtfully, watching the floating golden screen.

"Exactly, and that would be the only way for you not to be consumed by corruption. But there is an advantage, the more you are reborn, the more different and distant worlds you can find, with so many possibilities, there is a chance that at some point they will find one where they can undo the curse! At least, amazing adventures are guaranteed!"

From that moment on, I realized they wanted to help me out of gratitude, but at the same time they didn't know how to really help. I was going to ask one more thing, but the voice disappeared.

"They're pushing the dirt under the rug while creating this lie... Just so their pride of being impeccable gods won't be broken..." I thought, with an odd look at the void above me, heaving a sigh. I was really stuck in that situation.

"It is even worse, my boy." Another voice showed up, this one being soft but hateful familiar in my ears.

I look around, seeing he so called evil being that had attacked me. Or at least, something that looked like him, bit with so many human features, that his voice was the only thing making a fact that this was Zalgnity.

"You?! WHAT DID YOU DO WITH ME?!" I screamed in hate.

He didnt reply, he just continued there, sitting on the floor in a relaxed way. I knew I could do nothing, as I'm dead and he seems to be stucked with me. But than, after some seconds…

"You finished your tantrum, kiddo?" He asked, with his expression showing no concern. "As I said, boy, the situation is even worse than you think."

"You were the on who entered me… It's your fault!"

"Boy, you would be killed by the gods either way, even if my essence didn't enter your soul."

His words ended up stricking a fearful curiosity. "What?"

"Well, I have some information of this, but tell me, kid. You were the original leader of thaaaat group?"

"No…? But what this have to do with anything!? Your evil servants killed him!"

"They weren't my servants." He... laughed? "They were just following me around and calling me their leader because of my huge power, I was just following the script."

My eyes widened with that statement, but than he continued. "The original leader from a party made to destroy an evil entity, so powerful that it calls the attention of the so-called 'evil', even if the entity isnt trying~ Boy, do you believe a leader, a mortal like that, wasn't molded by the gods from your own world?"

"What do you mean by that?"

"I mean that your friend was specifically created to be a mortal who could use that flashy attack you made before. You were supposed to be desintegrated as well just by launching it, I feel it~"

He stood up, continuing his speech while walking around me. "From what the spies I had said, on the first attack against an 'evil castle' where you were presented, was the moment he died.~"

"What is this nonsense you are saying?..."

"Well, I wasn't the one that choose you to be my successor~ Your entire soul seems perfect to it, as if it was sucking my essence without problem after my death~" He continued. "Those who have the slightest possibility of doing that, normally aren't bound by fate~ And fate is what gods use to control every single detail of their chosen ones~."

"You being close to him, to the original hero, made fate be uncertain, and then he died…. The gods were in panic seeing this, not knowing how he died, so they looked at how your group decided to see you as their leader… and then they decided to give a little help…. But still, you weren't molded perfectly for that role... So they expected you to die in the attempt to kill me~" He glanced at me a little more, with a slight smile and pure blood eyes. "Are you believing in me? Want to hear more?"

I looked at him a little longer, my face already showing my thoughts…

I was already stuck in hell, I don't believe him, yet… but nothing would change what already happened.

Smirking, he continued again. "Well, the fact you didn't die… made them fear you… and the fact my essence was going to you… made them vomit and see you as an abomination…"

"So, yes… You were correct in your previous statement, kiddo~ They are just throwing the dust below the carpet."

. . . . .

I just glared at the being in front of me a little more. He laughed again. "Oh well, let's get out of this place! I'm getting tired of a void… You can continue, the moment your mind starts to think in the same way as me, is when you will hear my voice again. Then I can explain even better~."

He disappeared at the same speed as he showed up before… like a red mist…

Soon, after organizing some of my thoughts, I was looking at the golden screen again, with now only the option to accept it, or do nothing. I know myself well, I knew I could go crazy staying in that huge void, and, I hated to say, but that demon picked my curiosity in a way that I could only describe as 'destructive'.

So I clicked "Yes", and I was covered in a white and golden light. When it was gone, I saw myself somewhere else.

[3rd Person POV]

Luz ended up being summoned in another world, with clerics waiting for him, as if they had made a ritual for him to be there, unfortunately, this was not and will not be the only time. After this great adventure he had in this new world, that Un-Fated Hero died of old age, happy to have managed to create a family, but he ended up in the same void, he didnt have the so-called explanation yet, and the demon didn't show up this time.

And so, it truly began, an infinite chaos, always having many families, problems, struggles, searches for the cure of the "curse" that was destroying his sanity in little pieces. Slowly, he truly understood what that demon meant, what was happening, and how much he was being played as. The demon, or rather, a genuine fallen god, wasn't able to put the 'mortal' as his successor, but this doesn't mean he couldn't do the said job, it wasn't something totally correlated with the divine.

For this and beyond, he started to change, there were so many lifes, that he started to be a villain, an anti-hero, a farmer, a warrior, a scientist, so many life options, endlessly happening, while never finding a way to get that curse out of his main existence.

The curse obtained because of his original gods, not by the corrupt one.

. . .

Now, he opened his eyes, seeing a clear and beautiful sky, he seemed to be lying on slightly wet grass. Without moving a muscle yet or seeing his real situation there, he had a simple thought while smirking.

"World number 11037. Let's see if this time there's something... or if this time it's a magical world. The last 50 were all tech worlds, and I'm already bored of seeing laser weapons."

Notes:

So, let's adress the Zalgo in the middle of the room... aka the differences for this remake

- The most obvious thing... the first version of this fanfic was named "A More Experienced Hero" but I saw the amount of people that got confused thinking it was a BNHA crossover ... So, I changed from "Hero" to "Reincarnated", as nowadays my idea is to write the last word as a "Catchy Thing" that represents the fandom I'm writing on. (for example, If for some reason I make a Youjo Senki, aka Tanya the Evil, fanfiction, I would write "General", "Major" or "Magic-Soldier".)

This and because, with the pass of time, I started to put my main OC in an extreme Gray Area to the point that I can't even call him a Hero per say, at least, IN THIS FANFIC, he is a Chaotic Neutral that disguises as a Neutral Good.

- Compared with the previous version, this one has a minimal word count of about 6k-10k p/chapter (previously was 3k-4k). So because of that, some chapters were worked on to fuse together in a way that doesn't seem out of place. Making the already published 90 chapters of the previous version, to become around 50'ish. All separated in 4 entire volumes.

- The plot itself had to go on some changes, as in the previous version the character "Cecilia" from the TBATE novel, had a huge role and I already had made a LOT of foreshadowings with her in mind. But her Canon Version became so unbearable in the period I was writing until her end, that she single-handed made me give up on this fanfic and start to work on others back in 2023. I couldn't separate the "redeemable" version I had made with the canon one, so I deleted all instances of her existence when I could, changed foreshadowings to put other things, yadda yadda yadda. Because of that, entire chapters were deleted, and I filled the void left with completely new content.

- With all of this in mind, this means I already have, like... 50ish chapters made, right???? SO... HOW WILL THE SCHEDULE BE???

To not publish everything at the same time, since I KNOW how boring or tiring it is to see a LOT of chapters popin-up at once and than, when you binge it, you get like "Oh shit, it's already over, f#ck!"... I'm thinking of 2 or 3 chapters per week...?

This means like... around 8 p/month... So In half a Year (December ?) y'all will be around near what I had already done on the previous version.

==========

FINAL THING, complete out of this fanfic.

I'm thinking on re-publishing here my other fanfic I'm working, is an Overlord one, for the AME series I'm creating (that one doesn't need a remake per say, imo.). And just a reminder for those who already knew me and are seeing me here due to this remake, I'm still studying, with my "Official Job Career" being more of a gamedev rather than writer, writing is a hobby that I use as training method for English studies AND Narrative activities. So IF SOMETHING happens and I don't post anything, it's maybe because of overworking or burnout. If it's REALLY serious, I'll try to update as much as possible.

Once again, I'm happy to finally publish in this website, a LOT of other writers that I know IRL asked me to do it, but the way Ao3's UI works sometimes scared me. (the other websites were WAY more in the face to understand the functions. They weakened me in this sense.)

Don't forget to comment, non-writers may not know, but seeing a comment always makes us see that our work isn't being trashed into the limbo, I won't lie, it helps with our ego a little.
