Chapter 2: VOLUME 1: Little Steps; Chapter 1 - The Leywins

Chapter Text

[Luz ??? POV]

I opened my eyes, not moving yet. I felt like I was lying on some kind of wet grass, with my vision being only a clear blue sky above me, next to what appeared to be some trees.

"World number 11037.Let's see if this time there's something... or if this time it's a magical world. The last 50 were all tech worlds, and I'm already bored of seeing weapons." I whispered to myself while smirking.

"I'm probably in a world where nature is preserved. I don't see any trace of pollution on the sky, unlike the previous worlds." I thought, with a slight twinkle in my eye.

It's really been a long time since I've seen a clear blue sky…

How long?

Possibly about 7 centuries from my perspective…

I didn't know for sure, because starting from the world number 200, I stopped counting my age and started counting only the number of reincarnations I had.

Finally I made my first move in that new world, raising my right hand, pretending to reach the sky, a thing that was so stupid for some, but this type of action is one that I never got tired of.

But, something was wrong there… I focused my vision on that hand.

"Blood...?" It was partially covered in blood, not a type of dry one.

It was fresh, really fresh...

"But what is this?..." I asked myself as I sat down on the grass.

As my vision slowly drifted from the blue sky to the ground, that's when I noticed. I was in the middle of a small forest. But not only that, there was a trail of blood staining the grass in front and below me.

"No..." I said that, but as if it was something unconscious, looking around I saw the dead bodies of what appeared to be a couple, both with blade wounds on their necks and wrists, with the man having a dagger stuck in the area close to his heart.

"No no no..." These words left my mouth without my control.

Focusing behind me, I saw luggage thrown and ripped on the floor. And the wet grass that I felt before? It was wet because of the blood from these two corpses.

I tried to calm this body a little, but I started to cry. These tears weren't mine, they belonged to the original owner of this body. I could feel immense sadness coming from him, and I knew very well what it was like, I had already lost several relatives through my countless adventures.

After a while, it was as if that soul before me was disappearing, being consumed by mine, and with that some memories of him started to enter my mind.

"Apparently this kid had this couple as his only family or maybe… servants? And for some reason, I feel like they were hated… but why?" I thought, trying to search for the answer to this within the memories.

Strangely enough it was hard, as if something was blocking me. I had experienced things like that before, but even so, it is a consuming, tiring, situation. I could hear screams of hate, phantom pains of old attacks that connected to this child's body.

I didn't have time to have a heavy focus on this tiring act, as I was interrupted by noises coming from bushes and trees.

"Hey!! Anyone there?!" I could hear a male voice say this. From my body's recent memories, I at least knew it wasn't the voice of the one who had attacked us, nor someone who he is familiar with.

"Here! Please help us!" I spoke loud and clear, already starting to act, as any reincarnated person in this situation would do. That's how I noticed, the voice that this body had was something that honestly I couldn't identify as male or female.

But for sure I was a boy in this reincarnation.

That's when the man appeared, he had brown, almost grayish hair, a strong silhouette and wore a kind of equipment along with a basic wood sword. Apparently, I was in a world, where there were clothes that reminded me of what I learned to call 'medieval era', or I could even say that reminded me a little of my Homeworld's farmer outfit.

"Oh my god… Stay here! I'll be back as soon as I can!" He said running in the direction he came, he seemed extremely shocked by the situation and that voice of his, by the tone I knew he was truly worried.

"Maybe my situation is pretty bad in the eyes of others…" I thought, not having much emotion about those corpses. "If you guys are this boy's parents, I hope to make the best of it…"

Gosh… I hate when I show up by possessing a body… I mean, it looks like an almost dead body… But the soul was still inside it… geez…

Why didn't I enter this world by the method of just being born instead of possession? Well… Beggars can't be choosers, as they say.

[Reynolds Leywin POV]

I was training a little with my son, while my wife was preparing lunch. I still couldn't believe it, my precious son had just formed his mana core not even a few weeks ago, and he was only 3 years old!

God, this makes me so proud!!!!

I'm the strong man here, who was able to create such genius!! Probably my genes are perfect?? Hehe!

Either way, such good things can cause some bad. His awakening was explosive, destroying part of the study room along with his bedroom. At least the kitchen and our bedroom were unharmed and the villagers helped us to put up some temporary walls.

"Come on, son! Speed up your movements!" I said excitedly, while swinging my wooden sword against him.

"If you want this, then I'll show you!" Arthur, my son, also spoke excitedly, starting to swing his wooden sword with style.

I swear, when he grows up he could defeat me very easily, in a serious fight! I'm so proud!!!

"Rey! Watch out for Art, don't overdo it!" Alice, my beautiful and caring wife, was talking loudly as she was watching us through the kitchen window.

It all seemed pretty ordinary so far, but while I was training, we could hear something way out of the so called ordinary in this village. It was an explosion!!

It was a strong one, to the point that the ground shaked a little. This made us stop what we were doing as we looked in the direction of the sound.

"Dad, what was that?" Arthur said to me as he put his sword down.

"I don't know, go stay with your mother, I'll take a look." I say holding the wood sword that I had in my hands, while walking in that direction.

After a few minutes of slow walking, observing the surroundings carefully, I noticed a small bloodstain on a tree. My guard got higher, it could be some thief or worse, a mana beast!

A mana beast here?! It would be bad, pretty bad!!! This area is basically behind our garden!!

"Hey!! Anyone there?!" I said, even though there might be something to attack me, I knew it was very likely, that blood looked to be from whoever was attacked.

"Here! Please help us!" I could hear a voice coming from my left, and to my surprise, it sounded like a child.

Walking a few meters, I saw a terrible scene.

It looked like a family had been attacked by bandits using some kind of explosive spell. The man and the woman were in a terrible state, while the child sat between them, looking bruised by this bloodstain. It was more than shocking.

"Oh my god…" My voice came out weak, but then I tried to be more focused. "Stay here! I'll be back as soon as I can!" I said, running straight home, I knew it wasn't the best option, but when I saw that, for some reason, I could imagine my family in that same situation, I didn't want to see that for any minute more.

"Reynolds, did something happen?" My wife said, now she was out of the house obviously worried by that noise from before.

"Alice, come with me now. I found some people wounded in the forest!" I said that, still in shock at the scene.

Alice didn't seem to take long, she warned our son to stay inside while I took her to that scene. Arriving there, I could see her making an expression similar to what I had some minutes ago.

"Go now and see if we can save the man!" She said as she went to the woman and child.

I approached that boy's probable father, and analyzed him. I felt his body quite cold and it didn't seem like blood was flowing anymore from him. The image that, at any moment I could be in his place, was more stuck in my mind.

There were bandits near?! How?!? Whooo????? I need to alert the guards as soon as possible!

"It had happened so close to home. What if it was us..." I thought as I stared into the corpse's face, but my attention went to my wife, she seemed to be comforting the boy who continued to cry. Apparently his mother was also beyond salvation.

"Calm down... please, everything will be fine..." I could hear her saying this to the child, and when she realized that I was watching her, she spoke directly to me "Go see what they had in that luggage, I'll take the boy to our home... It's more safe..."

That was a better option than anything, it was better to take the only survivor there to a safe place, where he could calmly talk about what happened here. Alice started to walk away along with him, while I checked on the corpses' clothes and luggage, if they had any identification or something. I didn't find anything,

"They took their valuables.... I'd better get the clothes and then after.. take the bodies." I said that to myself, while I was putting all the clothes in a single bag they had.

[Alice Leywin POV]

The day was so calm, with the exception of my husband and my pretty Art training in the backyard. I was just making our lunch, like any other day. But something had proven me wrong, this day was far from peaceful.

Just now, I was taking a boy who has become an orphan, with blood all over his back and hands, to my house. When I got there with him, I could hear my son's footsteps approaching.

"Mom, what hap-" He was going to ask, but soon he saw our guest there, his eyes seemed to widen in astonishment at that, and I couldn't blame him for that, he's just a child, they both are.

"I'll explain later, go get some clothes from your room, I think they fit in him." I said watching my son go back to his bedroom.

I looked at the child and saw that he had already stopped crying, but he was still in shock, by the look of his eyes and the fact he was shivering. I was careful with him, taking him to where our old study room was some days ago. I took off his blood-stained shirt and pants while Arthur walked over to me and handed me some clean clothes.

"Are you feeling any pain...?" I said as I removed the bloodstains from his skin using a wet cloth.

It seems the boy had some level of luck, none of the blood there was his and the only truly stained parts of his skin were his arms and hands... However there were some marks on his back, this made me overthink a little, until the child's voice got me out of that.

"I-I think I'm fine..." The boy said in a sad voice, looking at the floor.

Now that things have calmed down, I realized, that boy was probably close to my son's age, with very fair skin, but not quite pale, short black hair and blue eyes. As I saw those features in him, I started to dress him.

Fortunately, that outfit my son had given me, fit our suprise guest like a glove.

"What is your name?" I got the courage to ask, I didn't know if he would like to answer me right now.

"My name... is Luz." He said with a slight pause, I could feel it, he wasn't that confident in talking to someone, but at least it was good to know his name.

"My name is Alice.... Luz, when my husband arrives, I will go with him to some guards and report what happened. In the meantime, stay with my son here, his name is Arthur." I said that to let him know that I was going to leave soon, besides that it was good for him to at least talk to someone his age, to distract himself.

"Hello Luz, call me Art." my son said approaching us.

I saw the two looking at each other a little, even Arthur asked if he wanted a more comfortable place to sit, Luz seemed to agree with that option. With them now leaving that room, I think they would go to Art's room to talk. My son was very special, I knew I could trust him to at least put the boy at ease.

After a few minutes, Reynolds arrived at the house, warning me that apparently everything that was with Luz's family had been stolen, with the exception of a few clothes. I decided to leave these clothes on a table, and we left the house to tell Ashber's guards what had happened.

[Arthur Leywin POV]

This whole week has been quite hectic, first of all, my life is more than I would have expected compared to my previous one. Since I came into this world, things have always been outside of my expectations, of what would be common at least.

In this world, there are other self-aware races, magic systems and elemental affinities, while in my old world there were only humans, KI and technology. Basically I could even state as a fact that I came from a hightech pure body energy world, and ended up inside something from a fantasy book!

In my previous life, I was an orphan who, after battles and problems, due to my extremely tiny KI pool, managed to become a king. Or maybe it can't be seen truly as a "king" per say, it was more of a person that represented the whole kingdom, and if there was a huge scale war, both sides could make their own "kings" fight in a 1v1 death arena…

Meanwhile, in my new life, I am the son of ex-adventurers, with my mother being a greatly affectionate healer of sorts, while my father was shown to be a goof, but at the same time protective and loyal. The type of family that is harsh and caring all at once, it even reminded me a little of how I had a mother figure in the orphanage I lived my first childhood, the director, who was a sweet woman when happy and a necessary devil when angry.

A few months ago, I was able to understand that mana has a characteristic in common with Ki, which is the way in which both flow through the body. At the beginning of this week, with the help of basic books on the fundamentals of magic, I was able to create my mana core. This was something that humans, with certain characteristics, could achieve at age 8, if they are really lucky.

But I did it while I'm only 3 years old! Putting me as a genius if this gets discovered by common folk…

Maybe it's a little cheating the fact I'm considered a genius… but.. whatever.

After these incredible things that happened to me, I now had a guest at home, a boy who, from what I heard, had an accident near my house. I couldn't imagine how this accident was, just that he had arrived here, smeared with blood, and my mother left saying that she is going to report to the guards.

"Uhn..nice room, huh?.." The boy, who previously had said to be called Luz, looked into my bedroom, while I was sitting on my bed. I still felt bad about having destroyed part of this place by my awakening.

"It wasn't quite like that before... it's just that... KABOOM!" I tried to talk things a little childishly, after all for others I was a 3 year old baby.

Soon after saying that, I had a thought, facepalming myself "Wait, HE JUST HAD ALSO AN EXPLOSION ACCIDENT!!! For god's sake I'm so stupid!!!"

"I see..." He said with his eyes in my direction, but his gaze seemed vacant.

"How old are you? I'm 3 years old" I said, showing 3 fingers of my hand.

"I'm... 5 years old" He said this in a slow way.

It looks a little creepy as well…

"Oh. you're 2 years older, so.. what happened there? We heard an explosion" I asked, still having to keep up the acting of a curious 3-year-old even after I just said those stupid things…

Children are honest to the point that hurts, right? So this could work…?

Hmm… testing my acting on another child is truly strange.

"Explosion? Well what I know is that... My parents and I were attacked by bandits. I woke up to them bleeding next to me." He still said with a vacant look.

"Damn! I shouldn't have even asked. My god he's an orphan then?!? Sometimes I hate to pretend silly curiosity!" I thought as my eyes widened in shock at the information.

"They were lying down, at first I thought they were sleeping… b-but when your parents arrived to help, that's when I understood... they are going to sleep… a lot…" He finished speaking.

"S-sorry for making you say that. It's really hard to be alone..." I said, watching the floor.

With my speech finished, I looked towards him, his blank gaze now seemed to show confusion?

But why?

That's when I realized, not only did I say that as if I already had losses in my life like his, maybe I also used a more serious tone than my physical age allowed.

"I mean, it must be hard being alone, I don't know what I would feel if Mom or Dad disappeared." I tried to fix my acting mistake by saying that.

He continued to look confused at me, walking over and approaching my bed, which was where I was sitting. He looked me up and down as I was having a cold sweat at this, but then he stopped, putting his hand on my shoulder and getting a look of astonishment.

"Woah… you have the funny adult stuff." He said… whatever that means.

"Um, what do you mean?" I said, now being the confused one in this conversation.

"Your aura…. There is a glow that I only see on adults, around you…" He said with a voice that didn't express emotion

Wait? An aura of an adult??? But I'm a child….

Wait… I'm 'NOT' a child.

WAIT!!! Are there these types of spells or skills in this world?!? PEOPLE CAN KNOW I'M FROM OTHER WORLD??????

We just didn't speak for seconds, we were just staring at each other. Those seconds seemed long and intense, the feeling it gave me was as if I saw a person appearing out of nowhere, and being able to fight on an equal footing against my past self.

"So? Are you going to answer me or keep silent? Your way of acting and choice of words clearly gave you away to me"

Eh?

"I mean… man, you are pretty bad."

EEEEH?????

The strange sinister boy that seemed to see an 'aura' or something like that, also started to talk more freely… no, it talked really as a guy that was clearly older than 5.

"You know... it's not every day you meet another person who's been reborn…"

After he said this, it clicked in my mind.

"You… you are also someone that was reborn here?" I finally asked, looking around, making sure that only we were in the page..

"I wouldn't say 'reborn' in my case… it seems this guy here just died and… my soul possessed it."

Possession? A dead body? So the child in the explosion died?

Wait a minute… possession is also a way to get inside another world? Am I-

As if reading my mind, he said. "Don't worry, you look like a natural one… There are a lot of differences between those types."

"Uh… but how did you know…?"

"As I said, your aura gave you away from the start, I just didn't want to show that I noticed it at first glance. But you spoke without pronunciation mistakes and even walked more steadily than a 3 year old, it was as if the universe was teasing me to say that I noticed you." He smirked.

"Wow, I understood the last two things, but how were you so sure when you saw that aura? I still don't understand that part." I gave a sigh.

"Well, it's just that it's something specific that only I can feel, as far as I know, and I've seen someone else have the same thing." When he said that, my eyes widened in surprise again.

"Are there more people like us around?!?" I said almost without thinking.

"It wasn't in this life.... In this world, you're the first I know."

I was silent for a few more seconds, looking at the wall behind the boy.

He had just said that he had seen others reincarnated, but that I was the first in this world he had ever met. Did that mean this wasn't even his second life?

Or in his first life he had already met someone like that?

It was so confusing. I decided not to ask about it and just accepted.

"Yo! Anyway, I've been curious about something. What would this be?" He returned my attention as he poked close to my belly.

"Oh..??" I looked where he was pointing, soon realizing what he might be asking. "Are you talking about the mana core? Well, it's something in this world that allows a person to use mana. Probably you don't have this type of thing from the place you came from.. Since you are asking like that."

"No. Where I came from, there is mana, but we don't have something like a core for that. It was something more general throughout the body." He got up and started moving to exemplify. "The mana, from the world I originated, was in every bit of skin and muscle, the amount of mana was represented by the density of it inside a body."

"So the more mana one could contain, the denser it was in the body?" I asked, with him simply nodding his head.

"Hm...well, from what I've read so far, here to represent the amount and efficiency in mana that someone has, it depends more on the color of the core, which goes from dark colors to lighter colors." I kept saying.

"Interesting. And even simpler... my homeworld's mana density difference was pretty tricky to categorize." Luz said with a bored face.

"I can feel how much trouble this method of your world could cause... But that's not all, the core category also demonstrates our affinity in elements." I said getting up from the bed.

I was taking him out of my room and leaving him back in the study room. I looked around and saw that my parents still hadn't returned. I took advantage of that to grab a few books that had survived my awakening, and proceed to give them to Luz.

"Hmm... did you talk about elemental affinity, there in the room, right?" Luz looked at me with a slightly confused face.

"Yes. Why? Weren't there elemental magic where you came from?" I asked as I handed him some books.

"Well, there is, but there's no such thing as affinity… Any mage, warrior, even thiefling could use any element, just needed to cast the spell. At most what I could compare to an affinity... is when a person is blessed by a god, to do specific spells without reciting them."

I tried to keep quiet but ended up blurting out something without thinking. "By a GOD?" I looked at him very seriously, I was lucky my parents hadn't arrived yet..

"Um...yeah. The gods of my world were very interactive with people. You just had to at least be part of one of their churches, then, depending on your level of honest faith and willpower, you were blessed. " The boy said while looking at the books I gave him, starting to leaf through them.

For some reason he had a strange look at this face while talking about the magic system from his original world. Almost like a disgusting expression.

After a few pages through the book, he immediately looked at me with a muggle face. "You only have 4 basic elements and the rest is not only gained after mastering it, but also by having luck?!?" He went back to read through other pages and continued to say ".... and it's super rare for someone with 2 elements....!?" From the way he said it, it sounded like he was thinking of this world as being inferior.

Frankly, from what he's told me so far, his world's form of magic was much more advanced and accessible. But soon he sighed and went back to reading through one of the books, he was going through the pages very fast, this left me in doubt if he was really reading or just seeing the pictures and keywords.

After he had apparently read all of the books, he got on the floor in a meditation position. And that made me wide-eyed, reminding me of the event not even a week ago.

"Hey! What do you think you're doing?!?" I yelled.

"Hm...just starting to form this core of mana, or whatever you call it here. And anyway...do you need to scream?" He watched me confused, stopping his meditation.

"The KABOOM I mentioned before. It was because of my awakening! It's going to blow everything up!!!" When I said this to him, he gave a deadpan look, standing up and letting out a long sigh.

"Okay, Sherlock! So where do I do this? From my experience with mana, even though it's another type, I'd better create a core!" I was surprised at the mention of that name.

"Did Sherlock Holmes exist in his world as a person? Or is it just a story like on mine...?" I thought, but soon returned to his situation. "Well, we'd better do it outside, the backyard here is big. I mean, it's going to be your first time trying it, so it can't even happen all at once."

"Okay. But you don't know if the fact that I've had mana before will make my core formation instant or delayed. By the way, how long did it take you?"

"For me? Well, since I started walking, I was already invading the study room without my parents knowing, just to read the books, and only a few months ago I started to meditate for real." I replied to Luz, while he just shook his head, accepting the possibility.

I took advantage that my parents would probably take a while to come back, and I took him to the backyard now, to see how this idea would come about. I still can't believe that I know someone that I could talk with, without acting as a 3 years old child.

[Luz ??? POV]

I had arrived at that house, thanks to a caring and concerned woman, due to the crime scene I was in. And there I could feel an aura, it was weak and looked like a mix of colors between gold and purple, but I soon saw the origin of that one. This aura came from a boy, who I thought was younger than my current body, which made me think that we were in the same boat.

But of course, it would be idiotic for me to speak right away, I don't want to scare him.

They asked my age and name while I stopped pretending that anxiety and intense crying. I looked for a name in the body's memories, but they were still a little fuzzy, so I said my first name I ever had, Luz. The age was something much simpler to remember, the owner of this body was 5 years old.

I kept looking out of the corner of my eye at the son of my "saviors", his essence definitely seemed to carry weight, a weight of authority and coldness, but its intensity made it very transparent to see, making me think that at most he would have gone through 3 lives.

Of course, I wouldn't give away my true soul age, as I don't even know it myself. When we were alone and I saw that it was the right time to talk about it.

But the universe always has surprises, or I'd better say it always teases me. The boy genuinely seemed to say silly things or to be of few words, as if he acted for it, but this acting was kind of bad, he spoke so correctly and always moving his body as if he was used to speaking in speeches and not socially.

"Universe... Do you really want me to talk to him about this or what?... Is this serious? Is this boy dumb? Or maybe he never saw a soap opera in his entire life to know what acting is?" I thought, while he asked about what happened to me, taking advantage of this to look at the floor a little depressed.

I broke down a little on the inside, starting to have a few laughs in my mind. I started to talk to him about auras, to see if he would open up the game.

And it actually happened?...

It was interesting, another reincarnation. In all the lives I had, only in a few hundred I had met other reincarnated ones, and that's considerably rare if I see that I have been in at least 11 thousand worlds.

After that, I noticed a black sphere on the boy's body. I went to ask what it was, and when I received the answer, I pretended to be slightly ignorant, not saying the truth about how many times I saw mana cores like this.

With the conversation about magic started, we were left to compare the things he knew about mana from this world with the things I knew about mana from my Homeworld. I decided to do so because my original world was at a "hypothetical distance" of thousands and thousands of universes. So obviously the fundamentals would be extremely different and I wanted to shock him.

"My god... The people here are pretty lost and it doesn't look like they're going to develop more on their own." That is what I thought, as I started flipping through some of the books that the reincarnated called Arthur had given me between our conversations.

I knew it would be different from the one in my homeworld and probably look like other magic systems from other realities. Seeing their basic knowledge showed me how this world seems to not be truly developed in magic, but with the few things I understood, they probably would have a good push in development if a theory was created inside a more creative environment. I bet some crazy academic wizard could do this, but said wizard could be hunted down and beheaded in the middle of a central square of the most pristine capital, if the rulers of this world saw them as a threat to common sense.

After reading some more pages, I had decided to start the procedure of forming a mana core into this body.

Sitting on the floor, I began to meditate, or I could say that I 'tried' to meditate, since Arthur had given me a little back and yelled at me. Saying that the process of creating a mana core could provoke a huge explosion.

"Hm…? Creating a mana organ like this causes an explosion?" I thought while the boy guided me to the backyard of the place. "It is… a pretty rare consequence…. I don't remember the last time something like that happened in a normal similar setting in other worlds… Or… Maybe I had seen, but those memories are buried away in my mind library, just to not overload this body?… Eh… whatever."

"Let's take advantage of my parents not being here. That way we won't have any problems." Arthur said scratching his head.

"Okay. And sorry for almost trying that indoors, it wasn't written in the book about the theoretical process."

"I know! That's exactly what I used as an excuse after awakening my core! But my parents said it was in a book.... and… Apparently this one was destroyed during the explosion...." He said a little embarrassed, apparently it was his fault I even thought about meditating inside that house.

We started training using my meditation to create the mana core, with my eyes really close while I was trying to feel my entire body. It was easy but I didn't expect to already see something after just 20 minutes! Normally in other worlds, it takes me around 1 hour or 1 entire day depending on how magical energy works in the body, but this child's body - My current Body - is pretty much connected with mana?

It is almost as comparing using a normal knife in a cold butter block against a hot knife in melted butter.

The thing I saw… were bright lights…?

I decided to warn Arthur about it, since it could be a good or bad thing. After all, comparing magic systems from other worlds could make me do stupid decisions if I don't have someone to share. The lights I saw were different from what Arthur was describing during this process.

"It feels… weird.. I see a big white light, I know that itself is the core. But these other lights that are supposed to represent mana.. Arthur, what was the color scheme again?"

"The color scheme for elements is… White for pure mana; green for wind mana; red for fire mana; blue for water mana; and something that looks like brown mixed with orange for earth mana." He said this in a monotonous way, as if he was reading the book in front of me, but soon his voice showed curiosity with the question. "Why? what colors are you seeing?"

"I see.. a kind of intense black, not a kind of paint black that you can see a little of light when shining a lantern on it… more of a void black. And another unusual color is.. I can't explain it, it's like it has color, but at the same time it's transparent." I said trying to keep as much detail as possible exposed to him, because I didn't know what that meant in this world, I had a faint idea of what black might be...

"I can see green, red and blue, but they look so strange. Green and blue are in contact all the time, as if they were sharing a space in the same point of light, while red surrounds both black and this bluish green combo." I continued talking, hearing the boy sigh, as I had my eyes closed, focused on the mana.

"I honestly don't know what they can mean, but try to bring the ones we know into the greater sphere of light." He commanded and I obeyed, as the safest option. It wouldn't be good to mess with something unknown, for now.

After a few other minutes of silence, Arthur seemed to call me. "Uh.. Luz?"

"What is it now?" I said while keeping my eyes closed, still gathering the mana where my core would be.

"STOP NOW!!" He yelled at me, and that's when I opened my eyes.

I found myself floating about 3 to 4 meters off the ground, within a sphere of pure energy where I was in the center.

During meditation I hadn't felt any of this because of a second inner sphere that was surrounding me like a protective shield. My eyes widened in surprise when I saw that, and looking at Arthur, he had the same expression as me.

"I TOLD YOU TO STOP!" He yelled at me again, possibly thinking I wasn't hearing him properly due to the two layers surrounding me.

"I THINK IT'S TOO LATE TO STOP!!" I spoke in shock, still floating in that meditation position.

I could see Arthur's expression getting extremely worried as he ran away. He held up his hand to me with a thumbs up, indicating that I could now continue.

"Gosh, why do I feel like I have seen this in other moments of my lifes…" I whispered to myself, a little annoyed that something that even I didn't remember at the moment, was repeating. A complete deja vu of cliche.

Soon, I was connecting all the mana particles around me, but without letting the black ones or the transparent ones get close to my future core. And as I did, I felt intense pain all over my back, arms and legs, as if they were burning and being sliced from the inside out. Even with all this pain, I continued my meditation, if I already suffered so much in these multiple lives, my mind could handle it.

The problem was if the mind of THIS body could handle….

Either way, after a few but long minutes, an explosion happened. Luckily it didn't hit Arthur's house, but ended up creating a bizarre and oval-shaped crater, apparently it would be possible to make a family pool if it was filled with enough water and the edges were remodeled.

"Incred-!" I was going to speak, but I was interrupted by gravity, which returned to affect me, causing me to fall sitting at the bottom of the crater. "Ouch!"

"WHAT THE FUCK?! THIS WAS BIZARRE!" Arthur said in disbelief, even swearing out of surprise, his voice was getting closer to me, as if he was running towards the crater. And that was confirmed when I saw his face there, with his hand trying to reach me. "Want some help?"

"Sure!" I said taking a leap that wasn't that powerful, but it was enough for my hand to reach his, and so he took me out of the crater.

"I can't believe you did it on the first try and it hasn't even been 4 hours!" Arthur said to me in a surprised and at the same time playful way.

"Yeah, this was a little unexpected. But I think that, because I've had mana before, this world's mana seemed to accept me easily." I spoke, smirking and looking at my core with the normal black that they have in this world as the first tier.

"I hope that black mana was Zalg's essence... It's always good to use this on my side... but anyway, what was that transparent thing...? It was almost as if I was seeing a ghost." I thought, while that smile of mine masked my slight concern.

"ARTHUUUUUUUUR!!!"

Aaaand the smile broke when I heard a woman's voice, the sweet woman who "saved" me, and she seemed to have turned into a demon, calling out for her son in a way that I could only describe as 'You fucked up, time to be spanked'.

We looked at the direction and saw both of Arthur's parents, they had just arrived.

His mother looked like a bipolar beast, halfway between anger at the damage and concern for her son. His father, on the other hand, looked excited, I could see his eyes shining from afar. He was so surprised.

I tried to sneak out, but Arthur was holding me by the sleeves of my temporary clothes. "I won't alone suffer because of you..." he said deadpan.

"Gods of this new world, be merciful for my future punishment..." I thought with a teasing expression. "I hate and love how this feels nostalgic."
