Chapter Text

Izuku

It had been a year since my self-declaration to become a mage. Unfortunately, my plans were taking longer than I wished. From what I could tell, I had just turned two a while ago. I had drastically improved my speech and was walking on my own just fine, though Zenith and Elinalise would still try to carry me a lot. I also learned to read this new language rather quickly, though I wouldn't trust myself to read something complex yet.

"By lord Millis..." Zenith cursed under her breath as she dragged a comb through my hair. My head jerked back as she did but I held in my tears enough so she could finish. After a while, I heard her give a defeated sigh. "I'm sorry, sweetie, but I can't do a thing with this hair of yours."

Handing me a mirror, I saw the familiar mess that was my hair. This had been yet another strange phenomenon: I knew the thing about reincarnation was a new face, but at the moment, I seemed to be the near spitting image of my old self. I retained the same mop - or 'unkempt bush' as Paul had nicknamed it - of green hair. My green eyes and my 'cute smile,' according to my new mum, remained the same as when I lived in Japan. The only difference was that I didn't have the black shade in my hair I had inherited from my father, or my freckles.

'Is this reincarnation or did I get transported to another world?'

"Jeez, Izuku… Keep the cute look going, and you're bound to have so many girls after you once you get older," Paul laughed from his place beside the campfire as he gave us one of his lecherous smiles. "Hell, look at me! I was as cute as a button, and I have some great stories with the ladies. I could teach you a few things. Ohhhh, like this one time I had this elf ready to…" His boast was cut short when I felt a hand on my head and the killing intent radiating off my mother.

"Paul, dear… Are you sure that it's wise to tell my two-year-old son more about these great stories?" Zenith's aura seemed to make Paul flinch, immediately putting a stop to his bragging.

Elinalise tousled my messy hair as she said

'Don't worry Zu-zu, mommy was only praying really loud last night, that's why she was in Paul's tent. I know she said she was coming to see Saint Millis, but she's staying here with us."

"Elinalise! Don't say such embarrassing things around Izuku! He doesn't need to hear these things!"

"Is that why he's been sleeping in my tent more recently?"

Zenith somehow went a shade redder. Before the situation could escalate, she picked me up and started walking away from the campfire.

"I'm going to take Izuku for a walk! You two should perhaps remember what you can and can't say around our youngest member!" Zenith screamed. Her brow furrowed as we left the camp.

When I looked over her shoulder, I just saw my aunt giggling at us and Paul with a perplexed look, as if he missed the part that started the issue.

After Zenith's little outburst, we walked through the nearby forest for a while. It was always peaceful when it was just us; it reminded me of my old mum and the time we used to spend together. Eventually, we came across a small clearing, Zenith let out a sigh as we took a seat on a fallen log.

"Well, your mama wasn't the best, was she?" Zenith questioned. I just scootched closer to her and that seemed enough for her.

'Maybe I could ask her now to teach me something?' I thought, it honestly felt like the best possible time and better than waiting who knows when.

"Mama… can you teach me magic?" I asked in my most innocent tone, which was a little underhanded, but I was determined to hit the ground running.

Zenith looked to me with a mix of awe and conflict.

"Are you sure, sweetie? I'm not exactly a magic instructor and you could probably learn from someone better."

"No! I want you to teach me!" I shook my head vigorously. Zenith looked at me for a while, before she sighed and pulled out her magic book.

"Well, I wanted you to be a mage, perhaps now is the perfect time to start. Now… Where was… There! Ready to learn magic, Izuku?" Zenith asked after flipping through several pages.

"Yeah! I can't wait!" I shouted, my mother giggling at my obvious enthusiasm.

"Great! But just remember Izuku, you are starting this a lot earlier than most mages, so don't get upset if you don't understand something or don't get it on the first try. You have years to master this." Zenith smiled and patted my head tenderly.

"I'll do my best!" I cheered. Zenith's eyes softened with a mix of pride and affection.

"Right then. So… When using magic, you need to manipulate your inner well of mana to supply the spell. This allows you to use it to fuel your spell. Do you understand?" Zenith asked. I nodded my head a second later after processing her words.

'So it's kinda like an electrical device, only instead of turning on a generator to power it, I'm the generator.'

"And the amount of mana someone has is decided at birth so…Let's hope you have a good amount."

I felt a shiver run up my spine, hoping this body had better luck than my last one when I never developed a quirk.

"Okay, so… Now there are…. Oh, there are three types of magic! The three types of magic are healing and… Ummm…"

Cheeks turning red, Zenith grabbed her magic book and speed read through it, trying to fill in the gaps in her knowledge. I giggled at her silliness which only made her turn a deeper shade of red.

"And that's everything on the basics of magic!" Zenith proclaimed proudly.

It took half an hour of Zenith going back and forth between the textbook and breaking it down for me to learn the basics of magic. While it started off rocky, she slowly got a handle on it, but did sometimes accidentally go onto a subject she would then say isn't necessary right now. It confused me whenever she branched off like that.

'She's definitely no teacher, but she has heart and determination.

She explained there were two ways to use magic:

The first was incantation; something she had mentioned several times, and I had even seen her do so while on jobs. The second was through magic circles, which required the user to inscribe a pattern using special ink, and, once completed, you would simply channel mana into the pattern.

Zenith sheepishly admitted that she had minimal experience with the latter method and it seemed the book she had didn't help much with that.

'Oh well, better than trusting my little hands to draw something so precise. Maybe I'll study it when I'm older.'

Zenith had also explained there were three types of magic: The first was healing magic, which was divided into four subclasses if I compared it to a fantasy game. There was healing which, as the name implied allowed the caster to heal injuries of varying severity; Next was detoxification, which would allow you to purge poisons and the toxic byproducts from diseases; Then there was divine strike magic, which was more to harm specific type of monsters like spirits; And lastly, protection magic, where the user could create barriers to protect themselves or something of value.

Zenith did add that divine strike magic was tied more to the Mills church, so unless she took me back to her family, it was unlikely I would ever learn it.

"But why can't we go?" I asked innocently. "Maybe your mama or papa can help?"

"You're sweet Izuku," Zenith ruffled my hair smiling, yet I saw worry, and even sorrow, in her eyes.

"I don't think they would react well to me coming home with a child, let alone one with green hair and one just old enough that my mother would think I ran away because I was pregnant with you. And before I could explain anything, we would be dealing with the church. And not in a good way," she stroked my cheek with her free hand. "Maybe when you're older, we can give it a shot."

"Okay…" I replied with a nod, my tone understanding, if a bit curious still.

'That makes sense,' I thought. 'It wouldn't be the first story about a girl running away from home to hide a surprise pregnancy. My old mum used to watch shows with tropes like those with Mitsuki a lot.'

With that matter shelved, we moved on to learning about the other types of magic.

The next type was attack magic, which was also broken down into four sub-classes: Air, Water, Earth, and Fire magic. This wasn't surprising, as they were the four main elements, but as Zenith was explaining it, something piqued my interest.

"Mama… you mentioned beginner and int…intermid-" I frowned as my new body failed me again, I knew the word, but couldn't say it.

"In-ter-medi-ate sweetie," Zenith smirked as she corrected me, I just nodded back affirmatively.

"Well, silly me, I forgot to tell you about that. Ehehe…" She started going red again, making me hold back my giggle. She was trying her best and she was just seventeen; I couldn't expect her to be a great teacher.

"So, beginner and intermediate are terms for ranks; they are used for both magic and swordsmanship. Basically—" Zenith proceeded to explain how the ranking system worked.

In this world, there were seven ranks to describe someone's strength. Those being: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Saint, King, Emperor, and God, in that order. Zenith admitted she did not know the swordsman's way of using this system but said Paul would happily explain it if we asked.

For spells, though, the ranking seemed to be based on the amount of magical power needed to cast spells in that category or the complexity of the spell. There were exceptions, such as detoxification magic, where it was more based on the range of the spells to tackle specific diseases or injuries, like how a beginner spell could heal cuts and bruises but, say, reattaching a limb would require higher-ranked magic or curing a specific life-threatening ailment. Interestingly, not only was mana a factor in casting higher-tier spells, but skill and control were also a major part of the process.

It made sense, though, since it also meant if someone was born with a near-endless mana supply, they couldn't immediately fire off high-ranked spells on day one of their training, but if they applied themselves in their studies, it meant they could go further than many.

After Zenith's long-winded explanation, I understood the basics on the rankings. Beginner was basic mana manipulation, and intermediate was advanced mana manipulation. Advanced was complex mana manipulation with a large area of effect, Saint-tier magic was vast and complex, and if it was elemental magic, you could change the weather with how potent the spells were.

In the back of my head, I recalled an old memory: It was a video of All Might taking on a gigantic rampaging villain; The punch he used to stop the villain was so powerful, it dispersed every cloud within a five-mile radius.

By this logic, King, Emperor, and God-tier; continued this trend, but Zenith said that was well beyond her capabilities. She did mumble something that the Millis church had saint-tier healing magic, but before I could ask, she jumped to the next topic.

After a few more minutes of explanation, I raised my hand, bringing Zenith to halt her lecture.

"Mama… Can you teach me a spell now? I think I get it now," I asked. Zenith awed, leading me to believe I had asked with a pout on my face. Elinalese had joked with that look, I could probably get anything I want. I don't really want to test that theory, though…

"Okay, sweetie, but remember… If you don't get it, don't be discouraged. Not everyone can harness and use magic, especially when they are small." Zenith pinched my cheeks, making me giggle involuntarily.

"I'll do my best!" I assured her, the excitement I felt too much to contain.

"Great! Now then, I'll teach you your first spell. We'll start with the most basic spell I know, and one I think you'll love; healing."

I nodded energetically, I would absolutely love to know healing.

"Now, basic healing can't solve everything. This spell is more to quickly heal injuries that would heal naturally, like cuts and bruises, and would help stop blood loss and infection. Do you understand so far?" Zenith asked as she pulled out a knife with her left hand.

I gave her a nod in return. She smiled back at me and poked the tip of her finger, a bead of blood began pooling at the tip when she withdrew the knife. I didn't like the fact that Zenith needed to hurt herself for this lesson.

"Ok, Izuku, are you ready?" Zenith gave her question with a smile, showing she wasn't truly hurting.

I gave a determined nod back as she held her injured finger out to me. I held my hands above the cut and took a deep breath.

"You can do it," I whispered to myself before I recalled the chant. "Let this divine power be as satisfying nourishment."

I could feel… Something? Energy building in my core, it slowly flowed around my body. It was almost like I had opened a dam, and now the mana was flowing through me like running water.

It felt… warm and strangely calming as the mana flowed into my hand.

"Giving one who has lost their strength the strength to rise again - Healing!"

I cried the last of the chant like a war-cry, this was a defining moment in my new life. Yet, the next few seconds felt endless, a familiar sensation of failure began to bubble in my chest, when-

The green aura, near identical to Zenith's own radiated from my palm, the aura coated Zenith's outstretched hand. I saw the small cut on her finger close in seconds. Zenith let out a gasp as she watched me heal her.

"You did it Izuku!" Zenith cheered as she pulled me into a powerful hug and kissed my cheeks repeatedly. "I knew you could do it! My little genius!"

Zenith spun on the spot a few times with me still in her arms before putting me back onto the log. She brought the knife into her right hand and pricked a different finger. I felt a tinge of regret; I knew it wouldn't hurt, but I hated it even if she was doing this to teach me.

'But I guess I just need to make the injury go away faster.'

"Now, let's try that again. Remember to focus on your mana and to remember the chant." When I gave her an affirmative nod, she extended her hand to me again. Once I saw the blood bead forming on her index finger, I extended my hands out.

"Let this divine power be as satisfying nourishment..." The same warm feeling returned, I honestly could get used to this every time I cast a spell. I felt the mana flow from my chest and into my palm once more."Giving one who has lost their strength the strength to rise again - Healing!"

Just like before, the green aura coated Zenith's hand and the cut closed up like it had never happened. Zenith smiled as she looked at her finger.

"Hehe, looks like we have a future healer on our hands." She giggled. I felt pride swell in my chest and I let that pride show as I hopped onto the log we were using and cheered.

"I'm going to become a strong mage and then I'll bec—," my declaration was, however, cut short as, in my excitement, I lost my footing and fell face-first into the apparently hard dirt.

"Owwww…" I groaned out.

"Oh my god Izuku!" Zenith screamed, quickly lifting me up and placing me back onto the log. She gasped after seemingly brushing all the dirt off me. "Oh dear sweetie, your nose."

On instinct, I felt the cute button nose Elise claimed I had and didn't feel anything wrong with it other than a slight soreness. When I pulled my hand back, I saw a smudge of blood. It wasn't the worst injury I had received - Bakugou still held that honor - but with how Zenith was looking at me, the horror in her eyes, it almost seemed like, to her, I had broken my arm in several places.

'Then again, maybe parents are just this worried about all their first kids,' I thought as Zenith held out her hand and began her chant, intending to heal me. But I saw an opportunity.

"Wait!" I cried, making my mother halt her chant and give me a puzzled look. "Mama, can I heal myself? It is more experience and you wouldn't need to be hurt, is that ok?"

Zenith gave me a conflicted look, but after a moment, she let out a long sigh and lowered her hands.

"Okay sweetie, but be careful; you're showing a lot of talent, but you can't push yourself." Her worried eyes bore a hole in my heart. I nodded back to her and held my hands up to my nose.

I repeated the chant a third time and, once more, I felt the mana flow through me and into my hands. The only difference now was that it was coating my face. After a few seconds, I stopped the spell and checked my nose. When I pulled my hand back and saw there was no more blood, I gave Zenith a big smile.

"Mama I di— huh…"

My voice died as I was overwhelmed with an intense wave of fatigue. I felt my body become heavy, and soon, I felt gravity take control, my body starting to fall forward, face-first to the ground. Luckily, before I hit the ground, I felt Zenith wrap her arms around me, stopping my fall and pulling me into her warm embrace. That was the final nail in the coffin for me as I passed out.

Zenith

Catching Izuku's unconscious body, my mind raced as I lifted him into my arms.

'Only three spells… Maybe his mana capacity is low; Healing isn't the most taxing of spells, but maybe he poured too much mana into it, or maybe his mana reserves are that low due to his age,' I thought as, with Izuku fast asleep, I used my free hand to put the magic book back into my satchel. Once it was safely stored away, I stood up and headed back to camp.

"Hopefully your reserves are larger than this, or maybe you'll need a wand to help," I whispered as I brushed my hand through my son's messy green hair. It looked so unkempt yet it was soft to the touch.

'I hope his hair stays this way. I love it.'

After a while, I made it back to our camp. We had decided to make camp after clearing out a group of monsters. It was strange, especially as they weren't local to this area. Before I could head to my tent though, a set of footsteps drew my attention away and brought me to a stop.

"Hey Zenith are yo-Hey is Izuku ok?!" Paul ran up to me and looked to the still-sleeping toddler.

"He's okay. At least I think he is. He just used up his mana and fell asleep." I booped my son's nose, drawing a couple tired giggles in his sleep. Paul let out a soft chuckle watching the boy's sleep-laughter.

"Well, I know he'll become a great mage. I mean, he's already got a very nice teacher…" Paul leaned in and kissed me, a gesture I was quick to return.

It only lasted for a moment, but like all our moments of affection, it sent a tingle down my spine. Sadly, the moment and the kiss ended too soon for my liking. Paul smiled at me before he patted Izuku's head and walked to his tent.

That was something I certainly hadn't expected: falling in love with Paul Greyrat. At first I found him handsome, but his behaviour was off-putting, then when I found Izuku I focused on him. But after that night Paul protected me and Izuku, those old feelings surged. Sure, he tried to seduce me before, but I always shot him down. Heck, even after finding Izuku, the little guy would cry when he started flirting with me. It wasn't till a month ago I said I would sleep with him, but my condition was that he had to remain faithful to me, so he could only sleep with me and if he broke that promise, he would never sleep with me again.

'Hell, worst case he broke it and he'll never be with me physically again.' I thought, though he also had become a fan of my cooking. 'Hehehe, to think Geese's lessons were so effective for Izuku and Paul.' I giggled, remembering when the pair tried a stew I made, they couldn't stop beaming.

I hadn't said anything to Izuku, yet. Thankfully, Elinalise would watch over the toddler so I could be with Paul during the day or when we shared a tent or room. I knew he wouldn't be happy, as it was clear he wasn't a fan of Paul. I was trying to still be there for my son, since Elinalise's words to me the night I found him were still burned into my memory.

'If someday you find love and start a family, don't forget this little one.'

I knew eventually I would need to tell my son, but I was still figuring out how to even broach the topic to my two-year-old son. Elinalise said it would be better to do it sooner, unless I wanted Izuku to walk in on Paul and me "up to no good", as she put it. At that moment, like the mere thought had summoned her, my son's favourite elf walked out of her tent. She let out a yawn before walking up to Izuku and me.

"Soooo, how did the little guy do?" She asked as she stretched her arms above her head and yawned.

"Wait, how did yo-"

"Zenith, Izuku has wanted to learn magic for a while now, you honestly don't think he's smart enough to use a situation to his advantage. Like a flushed mother wanting to avoid a delicate matter," Elinalise giggled as I looked to my sleeping son.

"Wait, did he…" My mumbling was cut off as I saw Elinalise fighting hard to hold back a smile. "You heard Paul and me, didn't you?"

"You two really can't be quiet, it's funny considering even I can be more quiet compared to you lovers in heat. Now tell me how my nephew did."

I sighed, she was right, but I decided to avoid the topic for now.

"Brilliantly. He used healing magic on his first try and then he used it three different times." Elinalise smiled at the still-sleeping toddler before giving me a cheeky grin.

"My, that is impressive and I take it his teacher is going to ask Izuku's favourite aunt to watch the toddler as you reward yourself and… Put animals in heat to shame with Paul?~" Elinalise whispered the last part, making my face heat up drastically. I sheepishly nodded my head, while also cursing Elinalise for refusing to drop this topic, yet it was impossible to be quiet with Paul.

Elinalise giggled as she carefully took Izuku and headed off to her tent with my son. I watched my friend disappear into it and, after a moment, I headed to Paul's tent.

Izuku

Singing. That's what I heard as I slowly woke up. I looked around and saw I was in a familiar tent. It wasn't mine and Zenith's, I knew that much, but as I continued regaining consciousness, I was starting to recognize it more and more. Slowly, I pushed myself up and pushed the blanket down to my lap as I looked around the tent. After a moment, I saw my aunt Elinalise humming a tune as she read a book. As soon as she heard my movements, she stopped and turned to me, smiling after realizing I was awake.

"My my, someone wore themselves out. Did you have a good nap?" I nodded in response.

"Where's Mama…" I asked as I rubbed the sleep from my eyes.

"Oh, she's just spending some time with Paul… Ohhh, someone's not happy," Elinelise teased with a gentle giggle. Her teasing notified me that I was subconsciously frowning upon hearing what my mother was up to and I couldn't help it. "Seems someone doesn't like the idea of sharing."

That wasn't right, it was more that my mother: such a sweet and kind person, was hooking up with someone like Paul. Sure, he was a great warrior and leader, but he was such a pervert. Heck, when Zenith had caught the flu once, he took me to a bar with Geese to try to use me to get a few girls. Thankfully, Ghislaine was there, and took me back to Elinalise just when they got one girl's attention.

I had learned about their relationship by accident a week ago; after a job, the two thought they were alone and started making out in an unused corner of the guild hall. I, unfortunately, saw them when I went looking for Zenith and saw them getting frisky. Thankfully I had enough sense to slowly back away before they spotted me after I saw Paul start groping Zenith backside, and Elinalise was quick to realise what I saw when I came back without my mother.

"It's just…Why does mama like Paul?" I asked, gripping my blanket tighter.

"Hmmmm… I can't fully explain, sweetheart. The heart wants what the heart wants. Besides, it's not like she has many options here. Talhand isn't into women, Gesse and her have no dynamic, and Paul, while an ass, isn't the worst option I've seen," Elinalise explained as she sat next to me and patted my head. I leaned into her side, and she let out a hum.

"Then why haven't you started dating him?" I asked in a pouty, flat tone as I looked up at her.

"Wellllllll…" she trailed off with a weak giggle and smile before clearing her throat and shaking her head. "Th-that's besides the point! Besides, you wouldn't be a nice son if you threw a tantrum when your mama wants to find love," she added with a small smile.

"I guess…."

"There. Now stay there, I'll get you something to eat. Your mother told me about your achievement, so you're getting extra tonight. I gotta help our future healer get big and strong!"

I let out a small giggle as I watched Elinalise stand and leave the tent, my laughter died down a couple seconds after the tent flap closed. Left alone at last, I pushed the thoughts of Zenith and Paul to the back of my mind. Now I could think of my achievement today.

"I did it. I performed magic, and I got it on my first attempt…" I whispered to myself as I clenched my hands. I could feel the grin spreading across my face, knowing I could use magic, but…

"Only three spells though… Maybe it's because I'm a beginner… Maybe when I get more experience, I'll be more effective with my mana," I remembered what Zenith had said, how someone's mana capacity was determined at birth.

It was worrying that I may have a low mana pool, but something told me I was missing something: a piece of the puzzle that I just can't think of. But I would have to wait till my next lesson to figure it out.

I smiled as I remembered Zenith's proud smile, but then I remembered why she wasn't here. That's when my grimace returned.

She was with Paul.

My aunt was right, if Zenith loved him and he treated her well, I would just be a terrible son for not letting her be happy. He seems to have cut down on his perverted behavior anyway, granted, it seemed more like all his thoughts were focused on my mother. As much as I hate to admit it, that was a good thing in terms of him making her happy…

"I wonder if they'll stay together…" I asked myself, thinking how, eventually, I might need to start calling Paul 'Dad' and, eventually, I might get a sibling or two.

But as that thought came into my mind, I felt a shiver run down my spine. It felt familiar, almost like when I knew Bakugou was near and in a sour mood.

After being treated as a stuffed bear by Elinalise for the night, morning finally came, and with it, one of Geese's famous breakfasts. I watched him and Zenith work on it together. He had been teaching her soon after finding me. I stayed by the party's main tank this morning. She was telling me about the places she had been, like The Great Forest, where she was born, and last she heard, her family still lived. I would love to go there and meet more elves. Zenith, meanwhile, was with Paul after she helped make breakfast. The two were having a few laughs about something, but I didn't pay much attention. After breakfast and cleaning up, Zenith made her way over to me, Elinalise, and a hungover Talhand.

"Good morning, sweetheart! Did you have a good sleep?" She asked, I nodded but saw Talhand wince as he gripped his head.

"Shhhhhh, keep the shouting to a minimum… Or better yet, heal me so I don't have to deal with this," he groaned as he took a swig of water.

"Nahhhh Zenny, let the old fool suffer," Elinalise interrupted. "I warned him last night, but he refused to listen to me, and what example would we be setting for Lil' Izuku if we didn't let Talhand learn not to drink too much?"

"Damn you, she-witch!" the dwarf screamed, only to immediately wince and grip his head again. Elinalise fought poorly to hold back her laughter. "Forget you lot! I'm going back to my tent!"

Talhand stood and slowly trudged back to his tent, the rest of the party around me watching the hungover dwarf until he disappeared inside. They all went back to their conversation when the tent flap closed.

"Well… How about we continue on from yesterday? But let's work in our tent this time, I'm not feeling the best… That sound ok?"

"It's okay, mama."

Back in Zenith's tent, she motioned me to my bedroll before she sat across from me. She reached for her discarded satchel and pulled out the magic book from yesterday.

"Ok, now we'll go over yesterday and what my little magician was able to do~" she pinched my cheek, beaming in joy. "Now, last time, you performed basic healing. I want you to try again today. Don't worry, I'm just wanting to make sure you remember. If we keep up this progress, you'll be learning advanced-tier spells before you discover girls!" Zenith giggled at her little joke. I could feel my face go red from her hinting at the idea of me going after girls.

'Why do all parents enjoy embarrassing their kids?'

After some more teasing from my mother, we resumed yesterday's lesson. I couldn't help but feel Zenith gaze at me more intensely. Maybe she was worried after I passed out yesterday, or curious about the progress I was making. Something I did notice, though, was her complexion; it seemed off, like she wasn't feeling well. She did say she wasn't feeling the best.

It was after I performed my third healing spell that Zenith patted my head and stopped my worrying momentarily.

"Good work Izuku, I think we'll stop for now."

"B-but I want to keep going!" I protested passionately. I wanted to get better, and if I didn't push myself, I would be useless, just like my old life.

"Sweetie, you need to re-ughhhhh, not again," Zenith groaned as she clenched her stomach. Before I knew it, she moved to the corner of our tent and heaved.

I cringed as the smell of sickness hit my sensitive nose. I heard Zenith's groan and felt I needed to help. I ran to the magic book, I scanned through the pages as quickly as I could until I found the detoxification spell. From what I had been told, this should work if Zenith had caught a bug or ate something bad during breakfast. I ran over to her and placed my hands on her back.

"May the cleansing light of the skies wash over this body, so that the darkness from within may be expelled. Detoxification!"

A white aura surrounded Zenith as the spell attempted to cure her ailment, but I felt something strange, almost as if Zenith's mana was diverted somewhere. Before I could investigate this, Zenith pulled away from me and looked back in shock.

"Izuku… Did you just…Cast detoxification on your first try, and it was your fourth spell?!" I ignored her question as I ran up and hugged her. She let out an 'Oomph!' and instinctively pulled me into a hug. "I'll take that as a yes, then."

"Mama, are you okay?" I asked, my voice muffled as Zenith stroked my hair like she always did.

"Of course, Izuku, it's just a bit of sickness, nothing to fear," she explained, not bothered at all.

"Then why is your mana strange?" I asked concerned I didn't know everything about this world but this needed to be said. "Your mana felt off, like…There was something else…" I poorly explained, but I was working with very little information.

Zenith paled suddenly and cast detoxification on herself, as the white aura faded, Zenith's eyes shot open, and she covered her mouth with her hand and started crying.

"Oh my god…" she wheezed and looked down at me. "I can't believe it…"

"Mama, is something wrong?!" Getting Zenith's full attention with my tone, who only smiled down at me as the tears started to flow more freely.

"No, everything is so good!!!" she cried as she lifted me and pulled me into another hug, my head was buried in the crook of her neck.

Using the little strength I had, I pushed to free myself and whether I was stronger than I thought or Zenith felt my resistance, she pulled me back and put me back down on the ground. Still smiling as the tears continued to pour down her cheeks.

"Are you okay?" I asked again, this time, Zenith wiped some of the tears away.

Y-yeah…" She replied with a shaky voice. She held her arms out for another hug, and I took the offer, feeling she needed me. She held me close, not smothering like a moment ago.

"You're going to be a big brother Izuku…" she whispered. The joy in her voice was so clear, the only time she had sounded this happy was when I first walked or when I called her mama for the first time… Then I realised what she said.

'Wait, what?! Zenith is pregnant?! But….' My head was spinning. Zenith, my new mother, was now expecting her own child. My head started spinning even more as the thought repeated in my head. I obviously knew how, heck, it's why I'd been spending more time with Elinelise this last month, but my head was doing loop de loops trying to process it. I felt cold like an arctic breeze ran right through me, then something clicked into place.

'Oh no, that means….'

"Hey, what's all the… What's going on?" Almost as if he were summoned, Paul poked his head through the flap to our tent. He looked from a still-crying Zenith and then to me. "Uhhhhh Zenny are you okay, and why is Izuku looking at me like he's gonna set me on fire?" he asked as he walked into our tent now fully.

I knew this look was on purpose. I know he made Zenith happy, but now, the party's biggest womanizer was now an expecting father! I glared at him harder as I hugged Zenith harder, only for her to start patting my head and laughing.

"He's just protective… But it's because…. I'm pregnant…." Zenith told her boyfriend, and now the father of her unborn child. "Paul, are you okay?"

"Uhhhhh yeah…" In an instant, Paul had gone as pale as a cartoon ghost as he looked at us. His stare jumped between Zenith, me, and Zenith's stomach, where his son or daughter was now growing. "So I'm going to be a father…"

"Seems like it…"

"I'll take responsibility!" Paul screamed like a battle cry as he immediately was on his hands and knees, prostrating himself before us. "If you say it's mine, I know you wouldn't lie! And I'll keep our promise, I'll remain faithful!"

'So that's how it started…' I thought, and suddenly it all clicked into place, or at least why Zenith was okay sleeping with Paul, made sense. 'It explains a couple of things at least. Still, we're going to be a family: Me, Zenith, Paul, and my future brother or sister…"

Once again, a chill ran through me. I couldn't understand why, was I coming down with something or…

"Izuku." Zenith lightly shook me, breaking my thoughts as I looked up to the expecting mother. "Paul wants to say something to you,"

I looked back at Paul who was giving me a look I only saw him give when he was about to say something serious, so a very rare thing, but at the very least, he wasn't taking this lightly.

"Listen, kid… I know I'm not your favorite person in the world. And there's no question who your favorite is, as we all know it's Zenny… And even then, your second favorite is Lise. But I'll do my best to be a good father to you and your future sibling, as well as remaining faithful to your mother. But one advantage to this is… Maybe now I can teach you the way of the sword," Paul smiled as he finished his adamant declaration.

"Izuku is a mage!" Zenith shouted in protest, taking issue with the sword part of Paul's declaration. "And he's already showing talent! He doesn't need to train with a sword," she huffed indignantly. Paul let out a groan as he shuffled closer to his lover.

"Zenny, I'm not saying now, but it'll be good for him. At the very least, he'll get stronger and have great stamina," Paul's trademark pervy grin spread across his cheeks like a Cheshire cat. I saw Zenith's eyes grow cold, though.

"And… Pray tell… Why does my sweet, adorable, innocent son need good stamina?" she asked, venom dripping in her tone, likely seeing what he was insinuating.

'Paul, stop digging this hole and drop it,' I thought as Paul started rambling off various excuses.

"Uhhhh well…You see the thing is…"

"Maybe I should," I spoke up, taking both adults by surprise. "I'm not going to be a swordsman, but wouldn't it be good to learn everything I can?" My question got Paul to smile as Zenith looked down at me and then back to Paul.

"Okay, fine, but only when you're older," Zenith caved, causing Paul's smirk to grow. Sure, I wasn't big on wielding a sword, but it definitely would prove useful eventually, and getting into shape will be essential… Though, not for the same reasons Paul thought.

"But if that's the case, we might need to think about getting you a magic tutor…"

"Hehe, guess that's it settled," Paul laughed as he kissed Zenith, my mother hummed as she returned the kiss. I almost felt as sick as Zenith did a moment ago… Even so, I gave them their moment before something came to mind.

"But what will we do now?"

Notes:

A big step has been made; Izuku has started using magic. Zenith is expecting Rudy, and now Paul has to take responsibility. Honestly, I love Auntie Eliaelsie and will use more of her later. I will say, though, that I recently had a mate over and rewatched Gurren Lagann, and I've been looking back over good Endeavour fic. I might have some good results, but I'll wait and see.
