The Son of The Sun And His Jobless Brother: Reincarnations
A mushoku Tensei/Demon slayer.
Chapter 4.
"I don't know how best to describe this predicament I and my brother have found ourselves in. But I should say more about how I got into this event, but that's time I can't afford."
"Either way… It does not help to shift blame around or try to find a victim here. What truly matters is what to do with this massive hole in the wall that Rudeus created. And that is the real problem." Asher Greyrat thought. But then he turned his vision toward his brother to say something.
"Brother Rudeus, what do we do with the massive hole? And how did you just cause it?" Asher asked.
"...Um? I read a line in a book…" Rudeus spoke carefully, his head lying low on the ground, trying to avoid eye contact.
Seeing the hesitancy in his brother, Asher sighs. "Never mind, don't answer that. I think I can figure that out how you did it."
"Ha…" Rudeus only released a breath of relief. His body is now relaxing a few seconds later.
"So just the problem with the hole that needs to be dealt with." Asher curiously asked as he pointed at the open wall. Prompting Rudy to figure out an answer.
"That…" Rudeus paused as if spending a second to figure out an answer to the problem. "Well… I think I sho—"
Before Rudeus could finish his word, the noise of a burst-down door was heard by the two brothers. The noise Made them both switch their view to that of the source of the noise.
"What is happening?!?" Paul screamed out, his head swaying left and right in every direction, caution taking his mind over anything else at first sight. Until his head sifted down, "Huh? Ash, Rudy. Are you two okay?" Paul said, just his voice was enough to tell that his priorities changed immediately after spotting the two twins.
"Don't worry, father. Me and my brother Rudeus are fine." Asher spoke still calmly as ever, his eyes clear of panic, as if the hole in the wall were never there.
Paul froze for a second, staring Asher right in the eye; both of his brows were raised with shock. "Okay…" Paul gulped. "I was ready for a monster or some intruder to be inside. But…" Paul quickly slapped his cheeks. "But hearing Asher talk is not one of them in the slightest. I hope this isn't a dream." Paul then checked his red cheek to see if the pain was real, the pain still evident."Yup, this is real." Paul concluded, his eyes blinking rapidly in a daze.
"Um… Father? Are you okay?" Asher asked out, still his eyes blank for all to see.
Yet his mind was filled with other thoughts.
"When I speak, why does it make everyone stare in shock? It's the same face that reminds me of the day I spoke to my brother in the garden. When I did, he dropped his sword with a face full of a mystery I could never read, and now my father is making that same face—the same one I can never read. I don't know how to feel. Perhaps it's... worry?... I don't like it."
"No, it's nothing. I'm actually really happy right now." I just…" Paul, holding something back, could only stroke his head and hair to try to do so, his finger resting on his eyes. "Sorry… God. I'm oddly happy." Paul spoke truthfully, finding the moment still a dream, forgetting all about the broken wall.
"..." Asher remained silent, witnessing the joy from Paul. Then Asher turned his head back towards his brother Rudeus, who only responded with a shoulder shrug.
"Honey… What is going— Oh my god!" As Zenith entered the room, she started talking to everyone there. "Honey, what's wrong and what—" Zenith stopped her sentence short after spotting a sizable pool of water on the floor and something else. "Hey? This is a magic textbook." As she spoke, her face slowly turned to that of a smile, replacing the previous worried one she displayed before entering the room.
Then Zenith picked up the soaked book, checking the contents of the book for some type of reassurance. After finishing with a content look, she handed the book back to the still Paul.
Paul, seeing the book being shoved back, quickly snapped back after his somber moment. Paul immediately checked the page of the book and said, "Honestly, I don't know. Wait..? This page is for intermediate spells." Paul lifted a suspicious brow. "That's impossible…But Amaz—"
Paul, before he could speak, had his words interrupted by a squeamish Zenith hopping from one leg to another with excitation.
"Amazing. I know, right? Honey. This is amazing. Zenith then turned her attention right back towards her twin sons, her mind knowing with confidence that one of the boys must have caused this. "Alright. I want to know what you little boys did here. Perhaps you read something from this book." Zenith hummed, her question directed at Rudeus, knowing that her older son could answer back.
"...." Rudeus, seeing the question being directed towards him, lowered his head.
Asher, seeing this display, quickly steps in between Zenith and Rudeu's conversation.
"I should say something. Brother Rudeus seems too nervous to answer…He seemed to be scared of her face, even though it was only one of joy. But perhaps it's too contorted for Rudeus to see? But truthfully, the way her eyes gleam with excitement makes it seem like she forgot the hole in the hole…?" Asher stands and holds a protective stand on the ground, his body firmly between Zenith and Rudeus.
"We haven't done much, Mother…? Just? Playing…?" Asher's voice paused, questioning his own words.
"Did he really just seriously question his excuse?" Rudeus, standing behind Asher, gave a raised eye as a gesture as he commented on Asher's unsure modernism.
"It was nothing but less than terrible! He should have just told the truth. But then he probably doesn't know. Wait? Didn't he tell me that he could guess what I did here? Then, is he trying to stand up for me? That's awfully nice of him. Either way, there is no way that excuse is going to work. Like those movie boys who break windows playing baseball, getting yelled at by a parent. But this is a whole wall. Just imagining the scolding is enough to strike me with fear. Well, good luck dude."
"But then why Is Zenith staying like that?" Rudeus still stared on towards Zentith's now new posture.
Zenith's cheerful hops freeze, only to melt in surprise. Her eyes fill with bewilderment as she turns back to her son, unsure if what she heard was real. Her attention sifted through the voice she had never heard. "Honey..." Zenith's gaze shifts back to Paul, her voice tinged with a somber tone of joy as she trails on.
Paul anticipated what Zenith was going to say, and responded. "I know, right? I'm as shocked as you are. I never expected Asher to be in here, let alone talk and play with Rudeus."
"I just…"Zenith's hands were over her mouth, and tears began running down her eyes."I never expected Ash to go out and try to interact with Rudy, and not only that, they used an intermediate spell while at it." Zenith slowly let herself go. Just the ensuing moment was more than enough to envelop her soul in tears of happiness.
"Hey." Paul seeing the display of motherly tears, embraced Zenith, gently nuzzling himself on her body."I know it's probably enough to get all teary-eyed seeing our boys do something as absurd as intermediate magic. Hell, I almost nearly forgot what I was doing when Asher spoke. But do care to calm down." Paul stayed still entangled with Zenith.
She stopped her tears, and only light sniffles remained. She was now separated, still beside Paul, and as she spoke, her voice remained raspy."I just can't, honey, this is the greatest moment in my life, Just what mother wouldn't cry seeing their children play and use magic?" Zeniths voiced her argument.
Paul nodded in agreement, but then quickly changed it, swaying his head in disagreement.
"I didn't mean it like that. I'm more worried about how they even accomplish this. They still don't know how to read, so how did they cast this? While playing?" Paul's words were filled with logic.
"I'm so happy… Asher finally moved around the house after so many years of sitting on a chair, staring off into space. And when he did, Ash and Rudy went on to play with magic! I was so worried he wouldn't do anything else as a child, but this is so great!" Zenith disregarded Paul's concerns, her emotions taking priority in the ensuing conversation.
"AH… Okay." Pail frailed his body, realizing his words were meaningless in the end."Well, I guess staying logical was pointless." Paul spoke with experience.
"I can't tell if that worked or if they just don't care about the hole in the wall. This is beyond strange. Well, I guess the lie worked out. But I'm the one who made the hole, so shouldn't the excitement and joy be directed to me? But being praised for destroying a wall in the house really shouldn't be something a parent should encourage now. Now that I'm thinking about it." Rudeus is still behind Asher's, still not moving, only observing anything else that could transpire next.
"We have no other choice. We have to hire a magic instructor from Ranoa to tutor both of them, honey." Zenith's voice was committed to the statement she proposed.
The statement was more than enough to snap Paul out of his minor silence.
"Excuse me? Didn't we agree to have Rudeus become a swordsman after we got twins?" Paul is ready for an agreement.
"They agreed to what our professions are going to be just after we got born. Talk about being authoritarian." Rudeus mused.
"Well… Both of them have to be mages. If they both can play around with intermediate magic so easily at this age. And you know, Asher's too frail to be a swordsman." Zenith almost hesitated to say the second part.
"I know that… That's why we decided that Asher could learn magic and Rudy could learn the sword. That's what we promised. Ash just never moves, he's too fragile to learn the sword."
Zenith's face turned downcast, not wanting this conversation to continue. Yet knowing it would.
"You felt it yourself. And I don't want to admit it. But Ash has a weak body, Zenith. And his mind might be the same. " Paul brought up a conversation never heard by the two boys. Yet, Zenith's face told them she knew what he meant.
"I know that." Zenith clenched her hand, a seed of frustration irritating from the movement.
"I do. That's why we took so much time in our day to keep an eye out for him. It always felt like if we did stop, he would just completely disappear from our sight. As if He wasn't ever there to begin with." Paul continued to tell the truth of what they were saying from their perspective.
Zenith's voice turns hollow, her voice refusing to speak the truth. IN front of her son.
And yet she did. "It's like our son just doesn't exist. Like he was never born. And that scares me, Honey. I didn't even know If our child had a will of any kind" Zenith Clutched her arms in an attempt to smooth the words she spoke.
Her discomfort was all to see. The words she spoke never wanted to be spoken, now open.
"And that's why we still want to love him either way, Zenith. Being a mage was the best profession for our son. Maybe his illusive nature would benefit him in the back with magic. Or he might study to become a scholar in magical research if he's not suited for combat." Paul listed options, in hopes of brightening Zenith's mood.
"Thank you, Honey…" Zenith embraced Paul, grateful for any words of comfort coming from her husband."Your right… Asher is still our son. I'm sure he'll grow up well. I'm just glad he can use magic. It was really a massive relief than anything else. Just this gave me hope for Ash's and Rudy's future for magic." Zenith spoke with true relief, her posture now relaxed and more calmer than previously a minute ago.
"Okay…" Paul took a sigh of relief, proud of himself for calming the situation more than he expected too. Then a suspicious look came right after."Wait. I'm still teaching Rudy swordsmanship." Paul commented on his previous words.
"Honey… They both can obviously use magic and if they both do so, imagine what they can do. Why even bother with swords?"
"Hey! We still promised Dear. Rudy would learn the sword, what is this hypocrisy?" Paul recited playfully. He does not want to sound too serious right now.
"Well. We're still going to hire a tutor either way. So it doesn't matter at all. Both Rudy and Ash are going to learn magic." Zenith debated like there wasn't a choice in the matter.
"Whoa! That's completely unfair."
"You're never fair."
Zenith and Paul continued their calm argument. Too exhausted to truly argue with all their might from the previous conversation, yet, they still choose to blow off any extra stress they built up with a light one.
Then, in the moment, Asher and Rudeus finally turn to face each other. Their eyes interlocked, ready to start a conversation of their own.
"So… Mother and Father are back at it again. Hopefully, they decide on something…?" Rudeus spoke, trying to start a conversation of his own after seeing things die down. His eyes were on Asher. The target of his words.
"I'M frail….?" Asher asked no one but himself, ignoring Rudeus's conversation starter. Yet, Rudeus picks it up.
"Um… I mean, aren't you?" Rudeus answered. As if what Asher said was true in his own right.
"I… I am not. From what I believe I am..." Asher answered back, his conviction wavering in his speech.
"Well… From my own perspective, I would say you are. Sorry, I'm not trying to be rude saying that." Rudeus quickly apologized, giving a familiar bow to Asher.
"It's fine. Please don't feel obligated to hold the truth back. Please tell me why you think that." Asher prompted Rudeus to continue.
"Okay then… First of all, everything is just my opinion. So don't take it the wrong way." Rudeus stated first before continuing.
Asher only gave a nod. "It's okay. You can continue."
"Then to start off. Even though I was mostly cooped up in Paul's study for a while, every time I did step out, I mostly never saw you. No, It's like, I mostly can't even feel you around. And When I did find you somehow, you mostly were doing nothing but staring off into space. To be honest, I kind of thought you were special." Rudeus gave away his piece on Asher.
"Special…?" Asher gave his question to Rudeus with the word that he used to categorize Asher. "In what way?"
"Like… Um. You won't get it. But basically, it's a slang, so don't really think anything about it, It was rude of me to even use it." Rudeus again apologized.
"It's okay. I'm not offended. But if you can, how would you describe something "Special" Like me?"
Rudeus, given the question, rubs his chin for a second as he considers his own response to Asher. His face turns oddly complex in anticipation of what will happen if the words he has chosen will work for Asher.
"I would think that a child who doesn't talk or move around a lot during the day might have something wrong with them—like they have an illness of some sort and you have that birthmark too, it's odd to put it. And right now, even as I am telling you all of these things, you still have that face on you, like you don't care about anything."
"This guy kind of reminds me of those quiet kids in the back of the class, never speaking and sometimes you would forget they exist entirely. And when they did, it would mostly result in bullying. I always felt bad for them, and yet couldn't do much, because I would forget them myself. And it's not like I didn't try… But right now, I kind of feel bad for him. Maybe some advice from a previous loner like myself would brighten his day. But what do I even say?" Rudeus thought. In the end, his own experience gives him this opinion.
"I see… Thank you, Big Brother. I'll… Try to take what I can from your words. But I do not know how to really change that. My presence… It's something I have with me always. It's just a state of mind." Asher gave his truth, almost truly revealing his selfless state. "It's something I… I was born with Brother."
Rudeus only stood confused, his mind not understanding Asher's words. Um… That sounds a little depressing. But he can change that if he tries… Right?"
"I dont understand. But hey, c'mon, dont be like that, you gotta be loud. Let yourself come out, let your voice be heard by the people you want." Rudues gave his best motivational pep talk, his hands up and peppy in cheers for his brother.
"I dont see a reason?" Asher tilted his head, confused." But I'm Sorry. They believe we caused these amazing things for them, Yet it was only you."
"Oh…" Rudeus's voice turns downcast.
"If it's something that I want to say. I would like to learn magic. It's an amazing sight to see. Just like you, Brother. I want to do that." Asher spoke genuinely, a smile forming from the words he wanted to speak, now open for his brother to hear.
"That's a good start… How about you say that to Mom and Dad?" Rudeus sparked back up, then gave Asher his suggestion in hopes of starting on a good footnote for his brother.
Asher turned his head back to the entrance of the room, Zenith and Paul still playfully agueing away with the futures of their sons.
"I dont think I should… They seem engrossed with their squabble. It was more than enough to say it to one person. And to you, Brother. Thank you for hearing me out."
"You dont have to thank me for everything… Lil Bro." Rudeus asked, grateful for all his thanks and he does take it with pride. But it got too much to handle.
"I see… But I am happy right now. Um, Big Bro…?" Asher turned to use his own brothers's slang, hesitating slightly at the final part.
"It's okay, I think just brother would work. How about it?"
Asher gave a smile worthy of being the warmest smile Rudeus had ever seen, even Rudy couldn't stop himself from shying away from the light it brought. "I would love that."
"Ah… To bright. It's too sweet to handle. God, what is this precious shota? He's going to grow up handsome at this rate, birthmark and all." Rudeus tried and failed to cover his eyes, and yet the sun still came blindingly.
As the two brothers were preoccupied, they failed to notice Lilia at the front door of the room, observing the situation with a keen eye. Waiting until Paul and Zenith stopped their little argument, just until she could speak her mind.
"Master Zenith and Master Paul, I have something to say for your worry about what your boys should do for their studies. But mostly it relates to our notion of what Asher is truly." Lillia opened her mouth, letting both Zenith and Paul hear after they just stopped arguing.
"Huh… Yes, Lilia what is it." Zenith was the first to speak up, but Paul only looked back.
"Our notion of thinking Asher was a cursed child from birth may have been wrong from the beginning."
"Huh…? What do you mean Lilia?" Zenith now truly focused on Lillia's words. Paul is too focused.
"Our constant caring and nurturing for Asher may not have been required, for we got it wrong. He wasn't suffering from any illnesses or curses when he finally moved in to help me. And Asher, a three-year-old, was able to pick me up entirely when I couldn't."
"What?" Both Zenith and Paul went wide-eyed. As the world they knew went upside down.
"Yes. I believe Asher is a blessed child. A Miko. I fear we all failed to see it. But this morning. I was now able to. I only want to blame my incompetence for never seeing it." Lillia bowed solemnly, not to the two married couples but to Asher, as if she felt like it was her fault for never seeing it, and now she could fix the mistake with this action.
"He's WHAT!?!" Zenith and Paul screamed out.
Both Asher and Rudeus only looked back at each other after hearing the conversation between the three people. As they spoke to each other.
"What's a Miko?"
Notes:
Hm... Well, I tried changing completely how I write now. So it looks more clearly than anything else. But it still might be as bad as a 3rd grader's words.
Maybe better fluency comes and goes. Or should I just read the entirety of Harvard's dictionary?
And it's kind of amazing I was able to even write anymore, even after having my confidence completely destroyed. But nothing can be gained if I don't continue writing.
Any hows. I hope you enjoy it.
And now I shall write away with sore muscles. Because I've been pushing my body way too much at the gym. But still, I found time to write.

The Son of The Sun And His Jobless Brother: Reincarnations
A mushoku Tensei/Demon slayer.
Chapter 5.
To say things have changed for Asher would be an understatement for the boy. Someway or other, his parents, Zenith and Paul, have completely changed their outlooks on their son Asher. Still, Asher couldn't find out what even truly brought this turn, only confining himself to his Brother: Rudeus.
"I still don't know what a blessed child truly is. But on a good note. Rudues was too unfamiliar with the term. So spending some time overlooking his books. He was able to find the word we looked for." Asher thought.
Now Asher was overlooking the shoulder of Rudeus, who had been reading away on one of his many books, trying to find out what a Miko was. Until he finally finds a page just about the topic,
"I finally found it. Her look." Rudeus called over his brother to his side, as he pointed to a book he's been scanning over for the past hour or so, during research for the term "Miko."
"What did you find, brother." Asher would sit down beside Rudeus, as he looked over whatever his brother found in the context of the book.
"Let's see. Miko: Or, as preferred, a blessed child. They are usually born with an abnormal amount of magic. Which results in them gaining a sort of ability that benefits them in life. They should be cherished and highly respected—blah, blah, blah. Is there actually information that really tells you how though?" Rudeus would say, flipping more pages in the book more intensely. "And… Nothing, wow. This book stinks, but I guess it tells enough." Rudeus talked this time more disappointedly.
"Don't worry, brother. Just knowing the basics of what one is more than enough for me. So I'm thankful for taking time to even read about the topic for me." Asher comforts his brother, his arm over his back.
"I guess so... But c'mon. It should have more information on the topic." Rudeus talked, almost cursing out the book. Now gambling. "Hm… Alright then. If you do have this Miko thing, then let's test it out." Rudeus then gets up, lifting his brother in the process. Before invoking a trial of sorts on his brother.
"What are you doing, brother?"
"I want to see the cool ability you have. Or how it works. So, c'mon, tell me or show me." Rudeus urged.
"Um… okay. But I don't think I'm a Miko brother." Asher casually said, His brother's face then turned bored, with the time he spent going down the drain.
"Oh, Come On!" Then Rudeus yelled in frustration, only to be left disappointed. "Then you don't have cool superpowers."
"As if in the book's description, then-No."
"In the description…? Then—Wait. Lilia said you lifted her body with your own strength. So, how is that possible?" Rudeus laid out a valid point.
"It's not something I used with magic."
"Then how?"
"I don't know if I should say exactly what I used. But a simple explanation should do. Me coming out and telling him everything I know about my abilities like I had them for my entire life would come out looking suspicious. And my brother would be smart enough to catch on." Asher thought as he continued on to explain his skill, blanking it in white lies at best.
"It's just an internal way of enhancing my own strength. Trough breathing."
"What? That makes no sense, dude." Rudeus gave the same look an adult would give to a child's bold lie.
"Sorry… I'll try to explain better." Asher looked down in shame, apologetically.
"Ah. I don't mind. Please feel free to say whatever you need. And if you can't, I don't mind it."
"Thank you, brother." Yet again, Ashe gave out the sweetest smile on earth.
"It's too much…! I am going to die." Rudeus was forced to look away, "It's like I'm staring at the sun. Help me." Rudeus exaggerated his thoughts, almost like he would die if he looked for too long at Asher's smile.
"Yeah. No problem." Rudeus had to look away, as he had formed a blush by accident and was too embarrassed to make eye contact.
Asher, not noticing Rudeu's bashful appearance, simply continued on.
"To explain. What I'm doing is just simply breathing in oxygen at an extreme rate. I allow the air I take to flow at a rate to exchange my bone strength, my blood flow, and my muscles; that's how I'm strong at all times. But I think it more complex than that…" Asher looked down distraughtly.
"Yeah… I bet it is more complicated than that." Rudeus almost said mockingly about Asher's inability to truly explain."Either way, if it's not magical, as you said, and just something you can do naturally, what other ridiculous things can you do?"
"Um… Besides the strength I gain from breathing, I can see through the transparent world. And calm my presence down to nothing but a plant. But the ladder is on instinct."
"The what world?" Rudeus's eyes go completely dumbfounded.
"What I call it: the transparent world. By concentrating enough on my eyes, and fully immersing my vision. I can see beyond the surface level of the human body. As if their bodies are completely transparent to me, which allows me to see everyone's muscles, organs, bones, and blood flow. But nowadays, I think I'm seeing something else too. But I don't know what."
Rudeus stopped talking; his jaw opened in shock as he tried to comprehend the words his brother just said.
"Okay, I need to calm down. This world was magical, and it contained other magical beasts. So what if someone can just use cool superpowers out of nowhere? There is nothing to lose my mind over about." And as Rudeus thought, his face was melting like jelly with the information.
"Are you okay, brother?" Asher asked out, worried for his brother after he froze still after Asher finished talking.
"Yeah, I am... So basically, you have x-ray vision and super strength by just breathing? Yeah, that's still hard to believe. And just when did you realize you could do all this?"
"Only recently. After noticing everything I did, from breathing my own way to seeing things, it was different from the people around me. Only then could I finally notice I was indeed different from others." Asher lied. From birth in this new life, he knew everything he could do and just how much different he was.
"But even knowing. I still failed to truly notice how much different I was and that my parents saw me as abnormal in some way. To the point where their own mental health withered due to my failure to see how they interacted with me, and now we are stuck at this crossroads." Asher thought distraughtly of himself, his negligence being what brought harm to his own family.
Rudeus, however, couldn't see any sign of a lie or the pain Asher felt, for Asher's face was still blank as ever.
"Well, you certainly are someone different than others. But definitely not odd. Zenith and Paul nowadays seem way more happier after they discovered you were a Miko. Even though I guess you aren't, or you might still be, because no one else seems to possess anything like you do."
With those words, whatever emotional whirlwind of thoughts that Asher had nearly washed away with his brother's perspective.
"You think?" Asher desperately asked.
"Yeah. Haven't you noticed yourself?"
"No… I haven't. Just… I didn't know if they would become better after knowing my abilities. But know that you told me that they did. I'm really happy to know Mom and Dad feel better. Truly."
"Um… Glad I can help. But I wouldn't worry about it too much. Zeni— Mom and Paul are always on a roller coaster of emotions themselves."
"A roller coaster?" Asher wasn't even familiar with that word: a roller coaster.
"Oh…" Rudeus's voice turns into panic. "It's an in-the-moment word I just made up. Yup." Rudeus spoke, hoping to god that excuse worked.
"Alright." Asher accepts the word without fail, too naive to think deeply about the word.
Taking a breath with that almost disaster sorted, Rudeus began to change the subject.
"So… You want to test out your cool powers? I'm really interested in them myself…?" Rudeus gently nudged on a new topic he found now interesting. "Mmmm…" Now making intense eye contact with Asher.
"I would rather talk about magic than about my own abilities. If you mind, brother?" Asher requested. "Like you, brother. I want to do your magic. It's amazing." Even with his mild, unreadable tone, Asher's conviction still stood strong in his voice.
"Well, if you say it like that... I can't refuse. But how about a deal then?"
"Hm…?" Asher perked up, his interest spiking.
"Well. I don't know what you are specifically doing with your way of gaining a skill like super strength or x-ray vision. But if it's teachable, like magic, then how about I teach you some magic I learned, and you try—um, understanding how your abilities work—and you teach me it? How about it? Great deal, alright?" Rudeus laid down an equivalent deal in his eyes. Both are beneficial to both parties in the perspective future.
"Even if he can't teach his abilities and they are innate to himself only, It wouldn't hurt to find out. And he does seem adamant about learning magic, so why not? Maybe I'll be a great teacher myself. Hehe…" Rudeus smirked, his own ego taking over for his confidence.
"I would love that, brother. I hope I can teach you my own ways properly." Asher yet again smiled.
For the second time today. Rudeus stared directly at the sun. His eyes blinded.
"Well… With that agreed upon, what do you think our tutor is going to be? Out here in the countryside? Even if we get one…" Rudeus started a new conversation, with the previous one being settled on. And almost because he needs to change it quickly before he loses his nerve.
"Our tutor? Ah. I don't know, brother." Asher was confused at first by the new topic but answered with a realistic answer.
"Of course you don't. Like, try to guess who she or he might be. It's fun just to imagine the person. My bets are on an old-timey guy with a lone white beard. With a lot of wise experience." Rudeus gave his guess and ushered on Asher to give his.
"Okay… I would think it wouldn't be anyone too old, given how far from any city this land is. So perhaps someone young so they can travel here. But if they would travel here, then you would be pretty experienced with magic. But they are also young and looking to get paid for their wisdom. But I wouldn't mind either way. Anyone would be fine." Asher, as logically as possible, told his brother the probability of what person could come as their tutor.
"Okay…" Rudeus rubbed his head at the statistical and wise assumption Asher made. "What do you want the tutor to be? Just say it at the top of your head. Anything." Rudeus just really wanted an answer—anything to gauge his brother's preferences.
"Kind. Compassionate. Gentle. Caring. A heart to have the patience to care for and understand a person. I may be asking too much, but anything with those traits, I'm fine with. I know everyone is unique in their own way. But you said anything at the top of my head. So those were my traits. But even if not, I do not mind. I will still put them in my heart." Asher spoke truthfully.
Rudeus only stared in amazement. Those words Asher spoke floored the bewildered Rudeus.
"Yeah… You are definitely special."
"Huh…? Did I say something bad?" Asher felt like he messed something up again to be called special.
"Pff…Hahaha. No, in a good way." Rudeus laughed at how Asher stared at him. All too worried to not speak out of order.
"How so?" Asher stared on, interested in what his brother meant by his words.
"Haa…" Rudeus had to wipe a tear. "Yeah… You're something else."
Rudeus only continued on laughing, much to the confusion of Asher. The moments pass them by as their thoughts form.
"Michikatsu. Brother… Is this what enjoying time with a brother is? And if it is, It's… fun." Asher's thoughts were brief but thoughtful.
"Damn, I haven't talked to anyone in forever. Including my previous life. And somehow I'm finding myself easily talking to him so calmly. It is like he eradicates the mood of the conversation. Maybe this is just how brothers do talk in life. I should have probably talked with my brothers more in the end if this is how it feels. Dang… now I'm just reminiscing. I just want to enjoy this talk I have with him." Rudeus's thoughts were more diluted.
Overall, they truly enjoyed the talk they had.
Even for the specters behind the door listening in.
"They really are talking together." Paul couldn't believe it. "Now our sons are actually connecting."
"It's amazing, Honey. Just look at them. Asher is smiling, and Rudeus is laughing. It brings me to tears." Zenith couldn't stop herself from crying tears of joy.
"I know. They are amazing." Paul embraced Zenith.
As parents, they could not feel prouder about their children any more than they could. Only now allowing themselves to bask in the moment. A well-deserved one they endured for.
With the day passing, the boys. They fell asleep after hours of Rudeus teaching Asher whatever he knew of magic, with Asher, in turn, giving the promise to figure out his ability and teach him one day about his abilities, before hitting the hay on the floor.
They enjoyed those few days. Asher learning the basics and some principles. However, there is still a lot to learn for Asher. Even with help, a couple of days is never enough to learn an entire new subject.
That was until, finally, their parents found a tutor for them. Urging them outside on the porch to see the magical instructor who would be living with them until they learned everything they could.
"I'm Roxy. It's a pleasure to meet you." The girl with blue braided hair promptly introduced herself.
"I expected many things... But not a little girl." Both Asher and Rudeus thought simultaneously.
Rudeus more skeptical.
But Asher thought logically. There must be a reason for her to be even out here in the countryside.
"im ready to learn. Prehaps I can get to know her soon. " Asher wholeheartedly accepts her in that instance. He was ready for anything from the girl. A open heart.
Notes:
This is what I wanted to write when I first even started. just dialogue between Asher and Rudeus. One-on-one brother talk. And their dynamics. Kind of mild for now. But I really want to grow on this. And just how really Asher's existence just changing up characters. Just all the ideas are going nuts. And I'm forgetting to journalize them all. AHHHH.
Also, why do I always upload at night time?

Chapter Text
The Son of The Sun And His Jobless Brother: Reincarnations
A mushoku Tensei/Demon slayer.
Chapter intermission.
Prior to Roxy entering the brothers' lives as their tutor,
Asher and Rudeus spent their day like any other. Asher and Rudeus spent their day sitting in a room, with Rudeus teaching Asher everything he knew about magic. With of course, their own parents spying on them all the time. Their motive is unknown to the boys, but they are overall not bothered by their peeking. They were only focusing on their learning.
"Can I ask you a question again brother?" Asher asked his brother for an extra reason for his misunderstanding on the topic of magic.
"Oh, sure. Go for it," Rudeus responds, ready to answer, confident in his teaching prowess.
"On mana. Just how you said. You want to treat it like your own blood flow, right? But also not, because it's separate from your body? I am correct here right?"
"Yup. Just pretend like it's flowing in your imaginary veins. Or like a second set of veins you have. Then um, launch it out when you imagine the feeling in your head. But first, cite the incantation to get the feeling down."
"Hm… I'll try." Asher takes one breath and raises his left arm in preparation to use magic, before speaking. "Let the vast and blessed waters converge where thou wilt and issue forth a single pure stream thereof— Waterball!"
The same sensation that Rudesus spoke of was felt by Asher. His blood pooled itself onto his left palm, but in reality, it was his mana, which could be easily mistreated as blood. And before his eyes, a ball of water appeared in front of Asher, before splashing on the ground.
"So… How did it feel?" Rudeus asked curiously, not as amazed as he was when he first used magic. But he just wants to know Asher's reaction to his first time using magic.
"It's just how you said it, brother. It's like a different pool of blood I never knew just happened to exist, then I used the spell."
"You don't seem like you are amazed by it?" Rudeus was disappointed with the little care Asher showed with magic.
"Could of at least shown some type of reaction to magic. I was pretty amazed when I used it. And you look like you don't even care. But I guess he's always like that. I Can't really read him still." Rudeus thought before he would move on to his next lesson.
"So what's next, brother." Asher was ready for his next piece of introduction.
"To simplify things, you want to concentrate on the same feeling you just had with the water ball you just produced, but in your mind. Like all of how your blood pooled up and the way it flowed when you did the spell. Just project it in your mind and body and let it out." Rudeus knew this wasn't the greatest explanation, but it was the best way he could describe it to Asher.
"Thank you, brother." Asher was grateful for even having someone to instruct him with magic to begin with. "I'll try to imagine it just like you did." With one more breath, Asher raised his left arm again, closing his eyes to concentrate on the feeling he once felt a minute ago.
"Hm… Feel my blood. My mana. I think I can know. It's like a cauldron of water inside of me that I have never seen or felt before. And now that I have experienced using the source of my mana, I have finally begun to be aware of it."
"Now just take that energy, imagine it all going through my body as water, and make it all come out of my palm again. Water: smooth; just a ball of it is enough; it all forms into just my palm. Flexible, just like water breathing. Now… Waterball." And with the same feeling Asher experienced with his first incantation of the water ball, Asher replicated the same feeling in his mind.
Until a ball of water yet again appeared on Asher's palm before splashing on the ground. This time, no words needed to be spoken.
"Wow… You barely spent even anytime time doing that…" A disappointed tone came from Rudeus. "I didn't expect that. I guess incantationless magic isn't all that." Rudeus mused on. His confidence was a little more damaged now.
"I wouldn't say that. You were the first person to discover such a method; without you teaching me, I probably would not have been able to use magic right now or ever use incantationless magic. So you're amazing, brother, for even figuring this out." Asher spoke highly of Rudeus; his words were true.
Rudeus could only rub his chin with a blush on his cheeks. "Aw-shucks… if you say it like that. That really makes me sound so much better." Either way, Rudeus accepts the praise. His ego was growing by the second.
"As you should. But, can we get to healing spells, I'm particularly interested in those."
"Oh that… Yeah. I dont not that good at those types of spells. And I can't even use it without incantations. So I can't really help you there. Sorry."
"It's alright, I just need to apply the same relative feeling to what happened when Mother healed me." Asher then yet closed his eyes again, concentrating on his mind to ready himself.
"Um, alright." Rudeus only raised a brow as he thought.
"If he can use healing magic, first try without an incantation, I'm… Not going to feel good about myself." Rudeus honestly hoped it wasn't what he thought. "Ah… dont be that nihilist; if he can use it, he can use it. I definitely won't feel less of myself if he can…" Rudeus gaslit himself.
"Focus… On the moment when Mother used healing on me. That gentle, nurturing light. Focus on how she used it to cure my grazed head. Now take that same healing magic and heal my woes and body somewhere…" Asher then immediately came to the realization.
"Use recovery breathing to find any Ill-ailments within my body. And cure it with the healing light. It's not as if I'm creating magic like water, but taking what's already misaligned with my body and putting it back in the right way. Just now find a vein, a blood cell, and then nurse to even better health. Just one cell…" With one last breath, Asher uses his absolute focus, recovery breathing, and his own innate understanding of his body through the transparent world. He found a single damaged blood cell in his veins.
"Heal!"
Then a light glows from Asher's body, with no words needed to be spoken, as it dims down again in a second.
"So… Did it work?" Rudeus asked out of curiosity. "I think I saw a light…"
"Hmm…" Asher took a second to answer, his eyes looking at his body, using the transparent world to gauge the effects."It looks like it did."
"I mean, like, what did you heal exactly? You didn't even have a graze or wound to heal anything."
"I didn't heal anything like that, brother. I used my vision to find a single vein, finding something damaged in it, and healing the damage within my body." Asher explained just exactly what he did. "Just one tiny woe in my body."
"You did what?" Rudeus, if he could try to understand what Asher just did, he would try. But. "I didn't get any of that."
"I see. Then let me try to explain. But first. What do you think when you heal something?" Asher began explaining.
"I don't really think of much of anything. Just say the words and boom, healing light." Rudeus shrugged.
"Then, simply start thinking of how you want to put something back together. Just like a skin cut. Just think of what the person's skin originally looked like before and imagine it being replaced by a new layer of skin. Layer by layer. Until it finally comes back in place. And unlike creating fire out of just magic, you want to create something specific to a person's body and, like a puzzle, find the perfect piece and place it back in place." Asher turned to face his brother
only to find him completely dumbfounded and stumped on Asher's explanation.
"AHhhhhh….." Rudeus looked exactly like a student being presented with a completely new topic or subject they'd never seen in their lives.
Which only saddened Asher to now be able to properly convey his explanation of healing.
"I'm sorry, I wish I could have explained better." Asher laid his head low. Shame fills his core. And as a teacher to many students, this was always what he never wanted from a student, especially his brother.
"Ahhh…." Rudeus then woke up, shaking his head. "It's fine; I'll try to take what you said and maybe figure it out later."
"Hm…?" Asher raised his head, making eye contact with his brother. His inner mood was lightening up. "If you have any questions, I'll try to come up with a different explanation later for you to try to employ."
"Alright…" This moment didn't hurt Rudeus as much as he expected, only finding the moment more humbly than anything. "Well… I guess the apprentice has become the master.
"Lao Tzu?" Asher found the quote familiar, remembering a name for a similar meaning.
"Wise words, brother. I am truly humbled by your words." Asher found the quote inspiring and was truly honored to be told it.
"Ha ha…" Rudeus would only leave out a nervous laugh. Stealing quotes from others was shameful, and in the end, the higher praise wasn't what he expected.
From there on, students became master and master became students. With Rudeus and Asher spending more and more time going back and forth analyzing magic and interpreting the ways it works to one another.
"What do you think they doing, honey?" Zenith asked her husband.
"I think they are teaching each other." Paul stared on in shock at the boys.
"Amazing! Let's get a tutor as quickly as possible!" Zenith couldn't wait any longer; her excitement to have her boys learn magic filled her being by the second, which could make her explode.
"...But then what about swordsmanship." Paul only talked to a ghost, Zenith ignored her husband, only forced on the potential of their son's future in magic.
Notes:
Not a real chapter, just a prologue of just some moments with Asher and Rudeus.

The Son of The Sun And His Jobless Brother: Reincarnations
A mushoku Tensei/Demon slayer.
Chapter 6.
"So, who am I teaching?" The blue-haired short girl asked out, now known as Roxy Migurdia. Her patience was waning by the second.
"Um, so are you the tutor?" Zenith, with all her will, tried to utter a kind, passive voice, still curious about the small tutor.
"You're quite… Um." Paul decided on whether or not to use the word he was thinking of.
"You're so litt—" Rudeus was barely able to use them before getting cut off.
"It's a pleasure to have you, Miss… Roxy, or just Migurdia," Asher spoke out, being the first to give out a proper greeting with no other intention than to say hello.
"Oh! Hi…" Roxy didn't expect the very polite greeting from the small boy she barely even sensed. "I didn't see you their little one." Roxy looked down to find Asher directly looking at her with a blank expression. "You can call me Roxy. But who am I supposed to tutor then?" Roxy got back on track.
"Then wouldn't it be proper to address you as Master or Teacher, Miss?" Asher spoke, wanting to correct the formalities.
"Huh? Oh… I see." Roxy would sigh to herself. "Well… For being that kind of you boy, I'll humor the thought of teaching you." Roxy then goes silent. "But expecting so much out of a child… I guess parents get one whiff of talent and think they're the next great mage. Cocky, I say." Roxy nearly whispered to herself, not much contentment coming from her voice, but stiff reality of what she experienced.
"Hm!" Zenith hummed, insulted by the words.
"Huh… sorry. I didn't mean it like that; it's just—" Roxy, trying to save her own skin with her offhand comment, got cut off halfway.
"It's not only me, Master Roxy, but my brother too. And if you feel like you don't see the ability to perform magic, then please rest assured that we do know spell casting." Asher injected, wanting to align things properly before they got out of hand. "I'll be glad to have you; either way, we are here to learn."
"That right! My boys, Ash and Rudy, are geniuses at magic. You'll see." Zenith's mood is again bright, to the relief of Asher and Roxy.
"Alright…" Roxy's voice was hesitant, but she still accepted the proposal still.
"Thank you, Master Roxy." Ashe was truly grateful for the opportunity.
"The things you say and how your facial expressions don't match are strange. But I'll accept it." Roxy then on made sure to keep the boy; Asher, closer to her eyes.
"Wow! I'll say Asher handled that pretty well. He introduced himself and got to decelerate things with Roxy's off-hand comment. Props to him. From never barely talking — to carrying about a conversation like that." Rudeus gave an approval nod to Asher, almost like a father would to his own son.
"Did I do something? What's that face…" Asher only stared on confusedly at Rudeus's proud face that he was given. With Asher having no Idea what to do, he only stayed silent.
***
Roxy had taken the two boys into the yard for the lesson. The sky was clear blue, and the sun shone down on the boys warmly.
With Asher being completely infatuated with the sky, he lost himself in thought, staring at the clouds above. Bathing in the outdoor air.
"When was it last I got to see this type of view? It's so much different than anything in Japan. It's truly nice to be outdoors." Asher was so completely lost in his own thoughts that he nearly forgot the other two people with him as he spaced out.
"Hello! Asher, stop daydreaming!" Roxy swiftly delivered one karate chop on Asher's head.
"Yeah, brother. Pay attention. Hehe…" Rudeus only smirked, somewhat teasing him for his airheadedness. But he was still amazed; this was the first time he had seen Asher do something like this.
"Sorry… It's just how beautiful the sun and sky are. It made me forget what I was doing. Just taking in the air is amazing." Asher's words carried a nostalgic weight.
"You sound like an old man." State bluntly, truthfully finding Asher's words as someone, an old man who lived through life beautifully.
"It's like when my grandpa was living his last days and found every moment as more than granted. Strange… Should a child find the sky this amazing? Should I?" Rudeus questioned himself.
"Well, besides that, can we go back to the lessons?" Roxy really wanted to get back on track, her patience waving.
"Apologizes, Master," Asher responds professionally.
"Okay!" Rudeus spoke more childishly but excitedly.
"Let's start off with the basic…" Roxy paused, thinking, but got a smile out of nowhere."What about I just show you a spell first." Roxy just decided to show off.
"Is starting off with visual learning all right, Master?" Asher asked out.
"Yeah… It is" Roxy's voice hesitated, but continued on. "Let the vast and blessed waters converge where thou wilt and issue forth a single pure stream thereof—Waterball!" Roxy called the fourth a waterball.
Yet there was something off about the water ball; just the direction in which Roxy aimed her magic put Asher into a higher perception, only to realize quickly the mistake she'd made if he hadn't acted quickly.
"Why is she aiming at Mother's tree?" Asher wanted to ask out but quickly figured out there was no time to. "She's going to blast the tree!" Asher panicked.
Asher quickly noticed the moment the water ball was going to hit Zenith's tree, Asher lifted his hand and projected one of his own water balls with no words to spare; he sent an incantationless faster ball of water to intersect the one made by Roxy.
The ball of water makes contact perfectly, neutralizing the one made by Roxy.
"Huh?" Roxy's eyes went wide. Disbelieved by what she just saw happen.
"Master Roxy, if you may. Please don't use magic on those trees, they are mothers. And she wouldn't be too happy to have them destroyed. " Asher spoke out, not to scold her, "If you could, aim somewhere else." Asher only suggested.
"How did you do that?" Roxy, still filled with surprise, ignored Asher's words, instead opting to ask her own question.
"Um… I'm not sure what you are referring to?" Asher wasn't sure exactly what part he missed.
"Did my interference with my own magic come off as rude and improper? Do I need to apologize?" Asher thought, ready to give out a sorry any second.
"Your spell. How did you just do that so quickly? I'm sure I used my incantation before you." Roxy said it eagerly, her face waving in impatience for the answer.
"That?" Asher finally got his answer, relieved to find he was wrong in his assumption. "I just shot your water ball with mine, using a faster trajectory so it catches up to yours and stops it before it destroys Mother's tree."
"Huh?" Yet again, Roxy went dumbfounded. "But that makes no sense. You didn't even start your incantation before I did, so how? Wait! I didn't even hear you use one." Roxy came to a shocking realization. "You… Didn't use one…"
"Yup!" Rudeus spoke out loudly, "We both can use it," he proudly proclaimed. With Asher humblingly nodding in agreement,
"Huh… Well then. Training you both will probably be worth it." Roxy smiled confidently. Her interest was peeking at the boy's insane potential.
"Um… okay, master…" Asher was a bit put off by her words, almost questioning the way she phrased it.
"Yeah, we heard you…" Rudeus said, a bit insulted, but also jokily to downplay it.
"Well, I dont want to say I was offset by your word Master, but I'll make sure to live up to expectations." Asher humbly promised.
"Yeah… I hope you do." Roxy hiesently said.
"Too bad I think you both already did that." Roxy thought, worried for her own abilities now.
"Thank you, Master." Asher bowed curiously.
"Hi!" Then Zenith came out of the house, holding a tray of icy cold beverages for all to drink. "So how is the first lesson going⁓?" Zenith said with a cheerful smile, but also eager to get to know Roxy's reaction to her boys.
"Your boys are truly remarkable. So, I'll try to train them." Roxy said with whatever pride she could muster in her voice.
Zenith only smiled again, "I see you found out how talented my boys are, I take it." Zenith.
"Yeah, she's just trying to rub it in now. Just look how confident Zenith looks." Rudesus thought, taking one of the cups of one ice-cold beverage. Waiting for Roxy's response.
"Yeah… Definitely…" Roxy responds, not fully wanting to commit the notion of playing to what Zenith wants.
"It'll all be alright Master Roxy. I dont want you to feel worried about our education for magic. So please take it easy, I'll do my best to live up to your expectations." Asher repeated, this time with an extra comfort in the form of a standing near Roxy.
"Yup, Miss. This is a new journey for you as it is for me. So myself and my brother here expect to fail and learn a lot as we go. And maybe you'll learn something yourself, Miss." Rudeus himself seeing Asher comfort Roxy takes it out of Asher's book and does the same.
"You kids are nice. Thanks." Roxy's spirits were just a tiny bit lifted.
"Well, I'm glad you're all getting just fine. So I'll leave you all by yourself. I don't want to interrupt your lesson now." Then Zenith happily hopped away, content with her actions.
"Well… With that, let's get into the basics." Roxy then got serious, ready to teach.
"Yes!" Rudeus spoke loudly, eager.
Asher only nodded, not looking as eager as Rudeus, yet he was still, deep down, equally eager as his brother.
Only hours pass by as Roxy's lesson goes on. It is only the same as what Asher and Rudeus learned, but slightly different in the conversation about volume in magic elements. But overall, Asher did think to himself,
"Roxy is a great teacher if my words are taken for granted. But I truly think that. Just the way she frames and times her explanation of her lesson just makes even me excited to learn more. Truly, I think she is a great teacher, down to everything I know about my teachings. Even maybe I can take something out of her lessons." Asher made sure to pay extra attention to everything, said my Roxy, "But still,"
"Trying to understand the conversation in terms of the amount of magic is confusing to the very least. Maybe it is the fact that compression of the magic into a smaller form is what makes it drain more magic than just? Then just making one of the normal volumes." Asher continued thinking.
"Then it would apply to my healing magic. Just when I used my healing to target an individual cell, it required me to use way more magic than I predicted. Almost draining me for the day. So perhaps minimizing and compressing magic to a smaller target is universal to any type of spell. And if I could feel my own magic draining, is it possible to see mana in its raw form so I can precisely calculate it? I do know it is only theory. But I've been trying to use the transparent world to see a person's mana reserves, like Rudeus's reserves, for instance, but still nothing. Perhaps there is a technique I'm not aware of. Perhaps I should ask Roxy?" Then Asher raised his hand silently, with Roxy taking a second to realize he did.
"Master Roxy I think I have my own ideas for understanding the ways the spell volume of magic functions. But I'll try to understand better. And if you have any more lessons on the way it does drain mana, please tell me. However, I want to know something else, if I may." Asher politely asked, waiting for Roxy's response.
" Yeah, go ahead." Roxy came out eagerly, and for the last hour, the boys barely asked any questions of her.
"Oh my. Finally! One of them is asking for an answer, I can do my job, Yay!" Roxy celebrated internally, getting gitty to answer the boy.
"Is it able to see mana?" Asher finally asked his big question.
"Huh…?" Roxy was a bit confused by the question. "I mean, you do see magic, right?" Roxy asked another question, finding Asher a tiny bit confusing.
"No, not in just seeing a magic spell. But I want to know if it's possible to see Mana in its raw form." Asher, seeing Roxy's confusion, rephrased his question to be more on the point and clear.
"Ahh…." Roxy seemed completely stumped by the question. "Ahem." But was able to compose herself quickly. "Well, seeing the flow of mana is completely out of the realm of what regular people can do. So there isn't a method of what I'm aware of." Roxy explained, frowning with frustration by not being able to answer Asher's question.
"I see…" Asher was somewhat disappointed but still continued. "You see, everyone can sense their own mana capacity and how much they have left, right?" Asher looked up at Roxy.
"Yeah, that's how it works…" Roxy was confused about where this was going.
"But then, if I look further at a person's veins and body anatomy, It's hard to see their mana or even see it. But everything else is visible to me. So I wonder, Just how do I see someone's mana internally?" Asher posed his own question again.
"Wait… What! You cut in someone's body and looked inside them!" Roxy was completely shocked as she came to her own realization.
"No. I dont do that." Asher answered straight-faced.
"Um! If I may." Then Rudeus raised his hands, getting the attention of both Asher and Roxy. "What he meant by seeing people on the inside is quite literally; he can indeed see people through their skin muscles to their bones. So don't try to freak out, Miss. Because I can conclude with confidence that no one else has what Asher has." Rudeus went out of his way to explain the extra details to the panicked Roxy.
"You can do what now? How is that possible…? Wait. Are you a blessed child?" Roxy asked, now amazed at Asher.
"I am not," Asher interjected. "Its… I think it's just an innate ability caused by my own technique and concentration." Asher gave out a half-lie.
"So, you don't understand how your own ability works?" Roxy, seeing Asher's hesitancy in his speech, thought he still didn't understand what he had. "But I think it's a blessing."
"I'm sorry Master Roxy, but it's nothing involving mana. It's only physical abilities. That is all I know…" Again, Asher lied.
"But then, when should I reveal how my abilities truly work to Rudeus and my family? Perhaps soon. Sorry Brother, I wish I could explain it to you. But one day I will." Asher promised that he would explain his own abilities to Rudeus one day. "I did promise my Brother I would, so I can't go breaking a promise. Never."
"I see. Well, I'm sure one day you'll find out more about your abilities." Roxy then approached the saddened Asher, who was not even aware of her presence, and comforted him. To close inside his thoughts to notice until she was side by side beside him.
"Huh…" Asher looked up, a hand on top of his head, with Roxy giving him a kind of nurturing head pat, not even realizing that she was there.
"There there. I'm sure unknown abilities are scary and all. But just this one day told me more than I needed to know that you both are really talented. So I'm sure one day you will figure out this ability you have." Roxy said while still patting Asher's head, finding it really smooth for some reason.
"Thank you." If Asher could, he would shed a tear of gratefulness for Roxy.
"Hey! I want head pats!" Rudes yelled out with jealousy. He then approached Roxy and Asher, as he demanded furiously his own head pats.
"Alright. For you too." Roxy mused with a smile before giving Rudeus the same kind head pat she had given to Asher.
"Brrrr…" Rudeus purred like a cat, now with an oddly suspicious smile from Roxy's head pat.
"Hm… Well. This is okay. Right? Though I have to admit. Patting Asher almost feels like I'm touching a smooth stream of warm water. And Rudeus… um. It's like I'm petting a horny cat." Roxy thought, nearly having her train of thought disturbed by this moment. Before coughing in her fist to get back on track.
"Well… back on to the lesson. The first day of lessons is supposed to be over. But to answer Asher. I don't know if it's possible to see magic. But then, I'm not saying it's impossible to do so. Maybe you'll figure it out one day. But I do feel bad that I couldn't give a proper answer." Roxy sighed sadly, disappointed in not providing Asher with an answer.
"Thank you, Maser Roxy, I'll try one day to figure this out. And also, I enjoyed your lesson today. I hope it can be the same." Asher said with an approving nod.
"Me too! It was really great." Rudeus chimed in, feeling a tiny bit left out.
"Heh…" Roxy then continued on to enjoy the nice moment with the boys before talking again."Well, I think it's about time to head back in it's getting pretty late." Roxy was now separating away from the two brothers as she walked into the home.
Rudeus only frowned, disappointed for now more head pats from his tutor. Asher just followed behind Roxy, leaving behind Rudeus by accident.
"Hey! Wait for me!" Rudeus yelled out before running after the two others.
By the time the trio of two students and one teacher entered the house, it was already filled with an assortment of food. A feast for an entire family to feast upon, and then some. Both Asher and Rudeus weren't familiar with the food. But they still gladly feasted on it with no issue. For it was truly delicious.
"Thank you, Mother and Lilia, for this food." Asher gave out a thanks to the main chefs of the meal.
"Appreciate it, Ash. But it is a special day. So we decided to make a special welcome party for Roxy." Zenith said happily, a cheer coming from her face.
"Wow!" Roxy was completely awed at this moment, only able to return grateful blushes and smiles to the family.
Asher only stared at this amazing site.
"For years, I spent traveling all alone across Japan to redeem my failure. And now I finally have a moment of peace as tranquil as this. Truly. I don't know if I deserve this. So I can only promise this as a compromise."
"I will protect the one I hold dear in this life, no matter what. Even if it cost me my life. I will gladly lay it down for them with no regret. That is a vow I will never break."
"Zenith, Paul, Brother, Lillia, and now Roxy. You all are now precious to me. More than you can ever know. So thank you all." Asher smiled with conviction in his blank eyes, towards his family, forming a true promise, just truly unknown how much it was truly worth.
A vow from a long-dead demon slayer, now to a family, as was Yoriichi Tsugikuni, now Asher Greyrat, would forever protect this family.
Notes:
Feeling good. Ideas coming and going in my head. Maybe to many that I have literally different timelines going in my head and journal, and I'm stuck on which one I want to do.
And I got to the point where I'm reading and watching Mushoku at the same time and at some points, I think to myself."Wait, that's not how I imagined this scene going in my head... Wait a minute. I'm just reading the original." And then I slam my head because I didn't even get that far ahead yet in my story.
But anyway's, rewatching the Anime for like the 10th time and I'm still picking up things as I go on. But this time with the mindset of a writer. A fanfic writer. And thinking to myself as how Asher would do and think. And then I have to go back to Demon Slayer to try to pick on Yoriichi's character.
