Chapter Text

The Son of The Sun And His Jobless Brother Reincarnation's

A mushoku Tensei/Demon slayer.

Chapter 1.

A couple of months have passed for Yoriichi, with him only gathering information on his new life after being reincarnated. He now tried to gather everything into himself and recall it all.

"It truly seems I have reincarnated, and as a twist of divinity, am I going through the six paths of Saṃsāra or something else? But I still don't know why. Perhaps this is what all souls must go through in reincarnation, Buddhist or not. Just like the Buddha did in his life. This, then, is my trial in life. Given by the divine ones themselves." Yoriichi would deeply think about his predicament.

And for the past few months, Yoriichi only spent any free time he has had analyzing his new life. He takes notes of his new family and the life of the country where he was born.

"However, for now, I still need to take on more time trying to understand this home, country, people, and cultures further. But doing something like that is quite impossible for me right now. This language is quite hard to understand for me." Yoriichi would think sadly of himself, but he would also try in the next couple of months or years to comprehend the language of the people that he knew as his family now.

Surprisingly fast, perhaps a year or less passed Yoriichi in a blink, and now he begins to contemplate what is happening to himself. As he tries to understand anything else that is happening to him.

"I'm beginning to understand the words and, slightly, the way this household functions. And from my understanding, I'm a part of the Greyrat family. And the names of my family members start with the father, Paul. And by studying him, I can see that he is definitely a swordsman. Perhaps a soldier? Well, I don't know, for now. However, he is strong and experienced, just by his stance and posture." Yoriichi thought of what his father was as a person, then moved on to his other family members.

"Then my mother, I assume, through guessing, it seems like the servant may also be a part of Paul's wives— As Zenith and the servant or concubine is Lilia," Yoriichi states what he saw as a simple family member of the family known as the Greyrat clan.

"But also, I can tell the red hair is too experienced with the sword. But it seems she has suffered an injury of sorts on her legs, and never exerts her legs with full strength. And now she will probably never fight as a sword fighter at full strength." Yoriichi thinks, giving some more thought to the woman known as Lilia, as he stops, and his heart nearly races with a new thought, something he feared and hoped for to be false.

"Was she perhaps a demon slayer?... is that how she was injured?" Yoriichi would nearly lose himself as he contemplated his new predicament.

"No… I'm overthinking. I don't have any evidence that demons even exist on this side of the world. And also, she doesn't use any breathing forms, nor are any Nichiren swords in the house." Yoriichi quickly calmed himself down as he moved on, not letting himself lose to himself in overthinking this new world of his. He calmed himself.

"But something else that worries me is how she always keeps an eye out for me and my brother. It's almost like she is suspicious of me and my brother for a reason." Yoriichi pondered the thought, but found no answer to why Lilia would find him and his brother suspicious. But he could guess himself. And not for his brother. "Maybe she isn't that trusting of people? Yoriichi would guess, but think about someone else to move one.

"And my mother, what was there really to say? She is kind-hearted, truly. Yet strong, probably experienced in the fighting of sorts. But that doesn't change that she is a deeply caring mother, always there to take care of both me and my brother. And somewhat tough on my father, but still loving toward him. Which I found strange at first. Do true mothers act like this, or is this how they truly behave… I don't know. It just may be a cultural thing or something else. But… I still don't mind it. It's… Quite warming." Yoriichi couldn't help but let out a smile, doting on his family's personalities, weird or not.

"Darling! You won't believe it. Asher just smiled! He actually smiled!" Zenith Greyrat, Asher's mother, nearly yelled out in joy, as if this were a monumental event for her.

For a mother, it was beyond amazing, almost relieving in a sense.

"Huh!?! What is it? What's going on?" Paul Greyrat came into the room, worried, but did not understand the situation, still on guard. Which his warrior instincts indicated

"You won't believe it, Honey." Zenith gleamed with happiness, picked up her child, Asher, and tried to show him off to her husband. "Asher actually smiled for the first time. I'm so happy."

"Wait—really?" Paul was nearly floored, shocked by the news. "Zenith, is this true?" Paul asked, then immediately approached the side of his wife to see his son.

"Yes~ He really did." Zenith jumped for joy, spinning Asher in her hands. "C'mon, Ash, smile for mommy." Zenith would ask of her child, smiling back at him.

With Paul still looking on. "Yeah, c'mon son, smile for daddy." Paul would say, then try to make some mangled, contorted face to amuse his son in any way to make the boy smile.

But after a couple of seconds of nothing happening, both the husband's and wife's faces changed to those of not disappointment, which Yoriichi expected; sadness only remained. It was almost as if they saw a glimmer of hope in their child's prior smile.

Both Paul and Zenith have already become worried and accustomed to.

"Haa…" Paul sighed to himself. "And here I got my hopes up," Paul said it disappointedly. Beginning to walk away.

"Hey! Don't say that, honey." Zenith would scold Paul, but still sadly look back on her son's face. "I really did see Asher smile. I really did…" Zenith's face would turn somber. Feeling loath to not be able to show her husband what she saw as a miracle in her eyes, and maybe his.

"Zenith, you already know. Asher hasn't smiled once in his life. Hell, he hasn't shown an ounce of emotion since his birth. I mean, Rudy hadn't cried when he was born either, but at least he had a kind of smile sometimes. But Asher… He was just stuck in a stoic face since being born. Honestly, I'm worried myself, Zenith." Paul said back to Zenith.

And he did not lie. Ever since Asher was born into the Greyrat household, Asher Greyrat hasn't shown emotions. Even at birth.

"I know honey… I am, too. I… we honestly thought Asher was stillborn from how he never really moved or showed any facial expressions." Zenith started to explain her own worries to her husband about their unique child.

"Yeah. And worst of all, we thought Asher wasn't even breathing in the beginning. But thankfully, he was. But the way he was breathing… The best way I can describe it is "strange." Paul would add, reminiscing about the troubling time they had during the birth of their twin sons.

"Don't call him strange; he is still adorable as he is." Zenith would say, then immediately rub her cheeks on Asher, still in her hands. Perhaps in the hope of getting a smile or something from the boy, with the level of affection she gave.

"Yeah… But I don't know if what constitutes doting on him that much. But I hope he can smile just once, or even show anything that even seems like an expression." Paul would sigh sadly, only deluding himself in a fantasy where his son may one day smile.

"Me too, Honey… Me too," The zenith herself would say soberly, hoping that wish may come true one day.

But without even realizing this. The same wish they hoped for was to be heard. Unknown to them in the slightest, yet deeply thought by the very son they are speaking this about to.

"Have I really never shown any expression of sorts to my family since reincarnating?" A sense of worry washes over Yoriichi for himself. "No… I shouldn't worry myself. I'm worried more about my parents' faces. They… Truly look saddened " Yoriichi would deeply solemnize himself at this moment.

Only left with what to do next.

"Maybe I should apologize…?" Yoriichi would think of one thing, but then remember. "If I could…." Yoriichi would nearly scold himself for how stupid that idea was.

But nothing less than scolding himself would still fix the issue. Leaving Yoriichi with what to do next. Something to give relief to the family he was now a part of.

"Even if I don't know this pair of mother and father, and I haven't fully accepted them as mine…" Yoriichi nearly lost his train of thought. He finds it puzzling to describe this moment.

"It is not like someone someday experiences reincarnation with a twist of fate that leaves their memories intact. But then what is my fate in all this?" A deeply seated thought comes and goes to Yoriichi with no answer in sight, in trying to find one, but failing yet.

"Why have I been giving this life? What do I even do with this blessing? Do I find a way back to Japan? Go back to fight Muzan? Try to eliminate the demon race once and for all. But then, my brother. Do I have to slay him…? Do I have to slay my one and only family left? Is that why I was brought back? Is that what the Kami Gods need from me? Just… What is my purpose anymore?" An onslaught of thoughts. pointless questions to no recipient. He hoped for an answer to come. Yet knowing none shall arrive.

"And how do I even achieve something like slaying demons again if I can't even smile? Just one smile… How do I even smile again…?" Yoriichi would stop his own thoughts right there.

Nothing he thought of truly reminded him of what a real smile was. Just the fact alone made it all the more sadder to the master Demon-slayer.

Just so saddening, it made him frown—only melancholy left in him. Was it a pity for himself or for the family he feels as if he is letting down? That was something Yoriichi could not answer for, as long as he thought he couldn't.

"I'm truly inadequate for a family." Yoriichi was left with nothing but a feeling of uselessness in the situation, for this family.

'Hey Asher, don't look so sad." Zenith talked to her son, still in her arms.

Her voice completely broke Yoriichi's turmoil. It seems like hours have passed, but only seconds have gone by in reality. But the turbulent hours of thoughts that came to his mind only fragmented his precious mind, enough for it to become something noticeable.

"Yeah, we're sorry. Mama and Papa shouldn't argue in front of..." Paul's train of thought would pause as he took in his son's facial expression. "Wait? Asher is frowning." Paul would say, wide-eyed in his amazement at the monumental moment.

"Why wouldn't Asher frown? Parents shouldn't fight…" Zenith, then herself, would pause at Paul's comments, reflecting on what he had just said. "Wait, what did you say?" Zenith said as if she couldn't believe what Paul just said to her. As if what Paul said to her was an impossibility of its own accord.

"Just… Look," Paul pointed at Ash, his fingers nearly shaking at the moment, jittery in every muscle.

"Really…?" Zenith couldn't even believe the words that came out of Paul, yet, not doubting her husband, she began to turn Asher towards herself as she took in his face."Oh my god… Ash, I'm so sorry, I never… Mama and Papa shouldn't have said any of those things in front of you, or argued." Said Zenith apologetically.

That is what Zenith said, yet something else would be shown, completely juxtaposed with her words and face.

"Why is she smiling? And not that. She truly seems happy for my… anguish…?" Yoriichi would think; he found it not only strange but also completely confusing.

"Is there a culture where people should find joy in an infant's dismay? No, that wouldn't make sense. Didn't they worry for me when I first frowned? They definitely did. So why actually find joy in this moment?" Yoriichi would nearly confuse himself; something about this was all too strange in principle, and it should be, yet he couldn't help but find a different perspective on what was happening to him.

"We're so sorry, Ash. We never meant for you to feel so sad. "Don't... just don't cry." Zenith would say hesitantly at the last part, overthinking how unfounded what she wished to happen—finding it disgusting—but quickly retorted. "Don't cry. Ash, we only want you to smile for us."

"Yeah, men don't cry as the first thing they do, they smile at women-" Paul would say half thoughtfully.

which resulted in him being smacked on the stomach. "Could've worded that better," Zenith said with a discerning look.

"Sorry." Paul apologized with a half-golfball smile. But returned to Zenith's side, who was still holding their child in her arms. "Come here." Paul would say, then immediately instigate a hug. In an attempt to hopefully bring themselves closer.

"Oh, honey." Zenith would coo lovingly; she found the intimate family moment beautiful. She let Paul embrace her and Ash in a family hug.

Seconds turn to minutes, and those minutes turn into a feeling of eternal bliss for the two lovers.

Now, only one other individual, and his feelings.

"Strange… That is the best way I can describe this moment. But not bad… It's. It is warming. Perhaps I can find something to enjoy. I won't overthink anymore. I'll figure out what I want to do later. But for now." Yoriichi warmly nuzzles himself further in the gentle embrace.

"This is nice."

Yoriichi would forget his worries. Now, perhaps find some new reason to find in this life.

But now.

Yoriichi would with a gentle comfort.

Smile.

Truly.

For the first time in this life.

unforced by any obligation or dismay.

"Holy crap! He can actually smile!" The first child thing: Rudeus.

Notes:

Honestly, I'm more interested in how Yoriichi would handle being gifted with something like being reincarnated, and how he'd embrace himself with this life.

But right now, the hardest part is how Yoriichi is a man of few words. So I kind of had to grasp what type of person heis deep down. Which is interesting but also frightening. Because I feel I might not fully convey him.

But anyways. I'm more excited about the character interaction he'll have with the people of this world.

And i should not talk too much, because I'll just spoil the story.

The Son of The Sun And His Jobless Brother Reincarnation's

A mushoku Tensei/Demon slayer.

Chapter 2.

Not long has passed, only days separating that gentle moment with his mother and father. Slowly accepting a new life with a family with differing cultures was and is still hard for Yoriichi. But overall, he decided to become one with the family. For they are truly "warming." Even if what he truly feels is still unknown.

But with nothing else to do as a small infant, Yoriichi was now, with his brother stared at their father practicing his sword plays through a window while both sat on a kitchen chair, just long enough in length to allow them both to stare out to the outdoors.

"There are quite a lot of things I can tell from just looking around at the outside. First I can tell this must be some sort of countryside town, or perhaps just a small community? Well, it doesn't really change that we still live in a beautiful place in my eyes." Yoriichi would state to himself, as over the past days he's come to appreciate the new environments and lands of this country.

"And from these farmlands, I can only see a horizon of fields of wheat. Honestly, I do hope they grow rice in this country." Yoriichi would optimistically hope.

"And beyond the stone fence surrounding our house. There are around two or more other wooden houses. But with a lesser quality than our house's architecture. Perhaps our household is better off than others…?" Yoriichi would guess, however, not having enough information to conclude anything else.

"But still, the structure is very different compared to ones in Japan. Instead of properly aligning the wooden structure to make them all click and be able to move and bend, these houses are more in line with them being forcefully joined together by stone and cement. Perhaps it's just a difference in architecture, but still, what if an earthquake were to happen?" Yoriichi would shake his head, retracting that thought.

"No, don't think of something that awful." Yoriichi would quickly rethink " If worse comes, I'll make sure to protect them all." Yoriichi would state, promising himself that. But finding a different feeling in himself.

"But I wonder… When have I come to find a sense of a need to protect this family?" Yoriichi would nearly second guess himself. Now trying to find a reason somewhere in his mind. "Hm… I don't know?" Yet not finding one.

"Strange? I can't describe this feeling at all." Yoriichi would feel stuck, yet not saddened, or confused by the emotion. It was as he described "Stange." And that was all.

*Swing* A sound of a slashing blade could be heard from the window that Yoriichi and his twin brother were on. Now revealing all to Yoriichi 's keen eyes.

"Interesting style. No, there are 3 styles of swordplay. All different in nature. And not only that, my father seems to be quite experienced in each one." Yoriichi would think, now taking extra attention to his fathers swordplay.

But not out of a sense of curiosity of the new sword styles of this country, but just the look his father is giving.

"He really seems to be concentrated in his practice, and he's finding quiet enjoyment in it…" Yoriichi would stare, as his thoughts change.

"Brother…" A wave of nostalgia would wash over Yoriichi, making himself lose track of his thoughts as he can't but help remember those days gone by.

" I wonder. What did you feel when you wanted to achieve being a great samurai. " Yoriichi would pause his own thoughts, finding new questions.

"Perhaps if I come back to Japan someday…" Yoriichi would unsurely state it in his mind. Finding this goal as wishful. "But if I do, How… Just what would I say?" Yoriichi would only shake his head, finding it hard to even think anymore. Just something even remotely reminding himself about his brother, only brought heartburn to himself.

"My heart burns. But I don't know why. But I do…" Yoriichi would second guess himself. "Just… Am I afraid to confront myself with the possibility of facing my brother?" Yoriichi, if he could, would confound himself with this feeling. But now, it was completely impossible, but not off the table. "Michikatsu… I just hope you find what you choose as something you can find happiness with." Yoriichi would think.

But not out of a sense of pity or some defense of finding or gaining some type of relief or comfort within himself, but only a hope that his one and only brother somewhere out there truly finds happiness.

With those swirling thoughts coming and going, Yoriichi quickly switched himself back to his fathers sword practice.

"Those forms of swordsmanship are truly fascinating. It's almost as if what I'm currently seeing is just a simple application of every form. As if those 3 styles can even be taken further." Yoriichi would think, coming to a conclusion, that these styles probably truly seem more than they look at first glance.

"But I wonder, what do they call those forms of swordsmanship?" Yoriichi would curiously ask himself, taking it as a note to find out later.

And as the second passed by, with Yoriichi only concentrating on the swordplay of his father, Yoriichi would become a little air-headed after such a time. Not out of boredom, but just a tendency to lose focus.

As he did, Yoriichi would turn his head, seeing his own brother staring off at their yard and their father's sword practice.

"Hm…? I wonder what my brother would think. But I don't think infants can really form options at such a young age—Wait?" Yoriichi would pause his thought, as a new one forms "What is that facial expression." Yoriichi would in maybe his life go slightly wide-eyed at the face of his brother; Rudues Greyrat would show.

"His face, it's not a face of…" Yoriichi would think hard trying to find the right words for his twin brother's face. " Just What is it?" Yoriichi asked out, still finding it difficult. Never the expect in reading emotions.

"It's not confusing…? But at the same time, it is…" Yoriichi would pause, trying to find the right defined words to describe his brother's perplexion. "Ah…! Yes, he's perplexed, or maybe he is astonished?" Yoriichi would conclude, finding that one of those emotions would describe his own brothers.

"Well, besides that. Just how does a infant make a face—Whoa!" Yoriichi would immediately throw away that thought as he noticed his own brother slightly get unbalanced.

"He's going to fall!" Yoriichi would scream out mentally, and if he could, scream out in this country's language or his own, but it was impossible, as he was only a few months old right now. and right now, he was only able to produce one single sound.

"Ah…" That was all—only one brief sound, not even loud enough for anyone to hear, including Zenith and Lilith, as they were preoccupied with some other duty.

With only his brother being able to hear, who was desperately wailing towards the ground, with only a second before impact.

"I have to do something." Yoriichi would think, and as the second, he did so. He jumped towards his already falling brother, grabbing him mid-fall in a gentle bear hug, now completely wrapping himself in an attempt to mitigate any damage to his brother. With him in the same moment flipping himself mid-air towards the floor, so he may be able to absorb all the impact himself, as well as to ensure complete safety for his brother, whilst ignoring his own.

*THUD!*

A noise of bodies hitting the wooden floor could be heard throughout the whole house, as both Asher and Rudeus would both be laying on it, with Asher being on the bottom, taking most of the impact. Still protectively wrapping himself around Rudeus.

"I was able to make it in time, just barely…" Yoriichi would recount the moment.

"I'm glad I was able to make it in time; he could of been really hurt, especially if he hit his head on the floor," Yoriichi would selflessly think, completely forgetting his own well-being and only worrying for his brother's safety first.

With him hearing a worried, panicked, and quite alarming voice coming towards them.

"Asher! Rudy." Zenith would quickly approach in a sprint. Her voice still filled with great motherly worry. "Oh no. Asher you…" Zenith would pause as he takes the scene in fully. She saw that her son, Asher, was holding on to Rudy protectively.

"Is Asher okay?" Lilia herself commented as she arrived, seeing that Asher most likely took most of the fall. With him being on first look, on the bottom, with Rudeus on top.

With that comment coming from Lillia, she quickly picks up both of the boys from the ground, and places them both on the dinning table.

"Let me see you Ash." Zenith said, as she made sure to look over Asher first. With the evidence pointing to him being the one to take all the brunt of the fall.

"No. I'm fine, I know it. Check Rudy first." Yoriichi, if he could, would say that to Zenith, but was unable to do so. Still finding it impossible to speak at such an age. Only worried for his brother's well-being and health, wishing to get Rudy the help he believes his brother needs first. "Then only one option then."

Yoriichi would then try to brush off Zenith's hand and, at the same time, point at Rudy, trying to indicate that he wishes for her to inspect Rudy first.

"Ah…? Ash? Just what— Oh… I get it." Zenith would say, now wearing a proud smile on her face. "You really are a good brother for you, making your mother proud with something like that." Zenith would say, praising her son for his noble actions.

Now, patting her son on the head and then returning to inspect all sides of his head at the same time, this time with that same proud smile, still giddy about what her son just did.

"Being praised… That's something I haven't heard much. It's almost enough…" Yoriichi would nearly blush at the attention he got,but quickly shaked his head again. Humbling himself at the same time.

"No, this isn't the time to lose track. What's more important is for my brother to be okay." Yoriichi would compose himself. Now brushing Zenith's hands again. Yoriichi Stared intently back at her, with him sifting his eyes back at Rudy.

Seeing this beautiful moment, Zenith could barely hold back a massive smile forming her face.

"Ash…That's adorable. You're still worried about your older brother." Zenith said, now full-blown and affectionately hugging her younger son, pride filling her core, from the sheer selflessness her son is showing."But it's okay Ash, you protected Rufy though and though. But I can't believe It. To think you would be quick enough to grab Rudy and shield him with your body. But I'm still very proud" Zenith would smile, continuing to praise Asher.

"You don't have to worry, Rudy is fine, you did good, Asher." Lilia would calmly attempt to lessen Asher's worry, making sure to.

"Is he truly…?" Yoriichi would then look at his side, trying to see for himself if Rudy was completely unharmed. Only seeing that indeed Rudy was not only unharmed, but not even a scratch of a speck of dust or debris was found on him. Showing that Asher completely protected Rudy from any and all possible harm. "I'm glad he's okay." Now relaxed and relieved.

"See Ash, Nothing to worry about, you did amazing protecting Rudy," Zenith said, still patting Asher's head and now checking for any other wounds on him. "But you need to worry about yourself sometimes; you might be hurt yourself." Now still inspecting Asher.

"There won't be a need; I'm pretty sure I was unharmed by the fall; I made sure not to land anywhere on the back of my body that may have caused harm." Yoriichi would think; finding this procedure unnecessary. For his safely wasn't that much of a priority.

But then yet again, he couldn't speak. Still his infant body incapable of speech.

"Well, you look just okay. But Just to be on the safe side..." Zenith spoke, lifting her hand from Asher's head, only now a couple of inches hoving above it.

"On the safe side…? Is she planning on giving me some medicine, or coving it in some type of bandage?" Yoriichi would guess. Finding it strange. "I'm still sure I have no injuries, so what's the issue?"

Zenith would take one deep breath as she opened her mouth."Let this divine power be as satisfying nourishment, giving one who has lost their strength the strength to rise again—Healing!" She finished.

Honestly, Yoriichi was confused at first, that was until a glowing light radiated off her hand as it traveled into Yoriichi's own head.

"Huh… I feel better. No, better than a second ago. It was almost like this light gave me some extra strength. Wait… WHEN DID THIS EXIST?!?" For the second time in this life, and on the same day, Yoriichi would go wide-eyed.

"There we go, Asher. Just a good old heal spell for a protector like yourself." Zenith would say proudly, giving one more reward of a head pat towards Asher. "Hm…? What's wrong Ash?" Zenith said, taking note of Asher's face.

"What? Was? That?" Yoriichi would question himself. As if what he saw was completely world scattering. But still staying calm after this massive world event to himself.

"Was that a blood demon? No that can't be, she's human. Perhaps she's an Onmyōji ? And she used Yang magic." Yoriichi would question, but then find flaws in his thinking.

"But nowhere in Japan has anyone been capable of something like this form of magic…" Y oriichi would remember. "Then… perhaps the outside world is capable of displaying and enacting the use of magic for themselves? Is this only then for this country, or perhaps every other country out there...?" Yoriichi would pause, as his thinking only brought more questions than ask to himself. "I don't know. How can I? This is completely new to me."

Yoriichi would find no answer. For many he asked, only speculation and more questions would arise.

"It's pointless to know. For now I'll try to gather information on what this sorcery is." Yoriichi would conclude, finding this reasoning sound enough for the time being.

And with those thoughts, Yoriichi would return to a more neutral facial posture.

Zenith, seeing that her son had returned to the normal neutral non-clanat face she was always used to, she spoke a little more calmly back."You really looked shocked there, nearly made me jump." Zenith said, now smiling,

"Honestly, I think I barely got to see Asher showing any short expression. That the shocked expression he showed me, really surprised me. But truthfully, I'm more happy than I expected." Zenith would think, finding out that some things really do make her son show an emotion of some kind.

And as she finished saying, Paul would arrive into the house, sweating profusely from his sword practice, after hearing the commotion coming from the house.

As he did, he would speak in a panicked voice." What is the Matter?" He said, as he rapidly checked the full room around himself, looking for the problem.

"Honey you won't believe it… Wait, first. We really need to pay more attention to the kids, they somehow got up on the table and Rudy fell." Zenith explained.

"Huh…? That's all?" Paul said, now calming down after knowing the situation as not that serious to himself.

"Well, not all. Rudy almost did fall on the ground, but Asher caught him, and protected him with his own body. Can you believe it? Our son really is like a hero." Zenith said happily, proud of Asher's action, hoping her husband can appreciate it himself.

"Whoa… That's interesting." Paul said semi non-clanantly.

"Hey! Shouldn't you be praising him? Our son did a good thing today." Zenith pouted. Upset her husband isn't taking Asher's action in consideration.

"Well, I would. But I honestly can't believe what you said. To think Asher actually did something like that, after how much he doesn't even move around. But still, that's…" Paul would pause, as he switched around his words. "Well! We boys should stay humble, helping family is like second nature to us." Paul said, Stopping whatever he wanted to say about Asher.

"Honey…" Zenith would look with narrowed eyes.

"Hey. Don't worry, you healed him. He's going to be A-okay" Paul said, completely missing the point of his wife's look. Only approaching Zenith, as he gave her a kiss to calm her worry.

And just like that, with one kiss, all of the day's event would and worries would vanish magically.

"My father certainly has a way with words and… moves. But as expected, I'm already used to seeing this type of conversation from them. Maybe this is the usual way husbands and wives interact in this country, or is it just them?" Yoriichi would think, finding moments like these, as interesting and joyous.

But then keeping track of what he wanted to know. And an answer to this new thing he had just discovered.

"I need to figure out this sorcery."

Yoriichi, for the foreseeable future, set this one goal in the meantime. Sitting on the table, his brother was still beside him, as a thought rolled through his mind.

"But then did magic ever exist on earth?"

Notes:

Not a lot of things to say.

Please enjoy, and thank you all for your comments. And I'm glad my writing feels nice to some.

But honestly, I can't really answer readers comments, because that'll just spoil the story or ruin a readers comprehension of what they believe the story is.

I just want the reader to form their own thoughts on the story and enjoy it for themselves. That's really all.

Well, anyway, read my profile if you want some updates on what's happening with my writing.

The Son of The Sun And His Jobless Brother: Reincarnations

A mushoku Tensei/Demon slayer.

Chapter 3.

"Time passes in a blink of an eye. And maybe 2 years or 3 have passed. I'm not sure, keeping track of the days passing you is truly difficult, it's like a mix of boredom and a sense of nothingness that can easily cause a man to lose track of time." Yoriichi would deeply conclude. "Well, that's my opinion. But for now, I can only try to keep track of what is happening in my life."

"But then, having nothing to do suited me in my lifetime; perhaps sitting still for a while will do for now. Still, my ability to walk again is coming back to me, and now I can somehow speak the language. It still confuses me how I came to understand such a language so quickly by just listening to my family speak. I really should be doing more, than letting my parents just keep an eye on me," Yoriichi would think.

For the past hours, he has been only sitting on a chair, staring off at the distances of his house's wooden floors and walls, as he usually does. spotting Lilia cleaning off in the distance.

"Lillia, the maid of the Greyrat family." Yoriichi, his eyes staring at Lillia. "She was very suspicious of both me and my brother for the past years, and perhaps still is. Though she takes extra care to look out for my brother," But as Yoriichi thinks of this, his mind switches to his yet-unknown brother.

"And my parents: Zenith and Paul Greyrat. They are young, humble, and ambitious in their lives as a married family. But there is something I came to notice with their action towards me. They seemingly always have an eye on me, always taking extra care to nurture me in life."

"They did nurture me quite closely from the beginning, yes. But after the moment, I protected my brother from our fall. They took extra a step in precautions to take care of me. Their eyes barely ever left my own. As if they did, I would disappear forever."

"I still don't know why or how this was brought up to them. And it's not as if I mind. But, it has been perhaps too excessive for them. To the point, that their sleep has been disturbed by the action of always trying to take care of me; to the point where even their hobbies suffered."

"Paul would now spend less time practicing swordsmanship, in return, he spent more time keeping a protective eye on me. I fear his skills may suffer if he does this. I just hope not too severely or to his detriment."

"Then Zenith remained the same. But less drastically. Her hobby of fielding flowers in her garden is now less prominent in her daily life. I'm now replaced with her taking my hand any time of the day to make sure I don't leave her sight. Sometimes, on rare occasions, she finds time to tend the garden while I'm beside her side. Those days were always the nicest."

"Just getting to see the outside lands of the country was an experience never once I could probably never see in Japan. Just the way the sunbeams on my skin, with all the flowers filled with new, neverbefore-seen wildlife I have ever seen, just made me enjoy my boring days."

"And this was only applied to me, not my brother Rudeus. Though, during the night, Paul and Zenith would spend their time reciting stories of this country's history, or perhaps dramatized history."

"Unlike my brother who spent extra attention on the stories of the country, his eyes, and ears were intent on what was said. I only tried paying attention on the words. Just paying enough attention to comprehend the language more and more as time passed. And if I didn't, I wouldn't ever understand the language."

"But this is a rare occasion. Both of my parents are off their duty of keeping track of me. I don't know why, perhaps after so many months and years of keeping an eye on me never resulting in anything awful going on with me. They finally decided to have a little break. Paul now finally practicing his sword, and Zenith was still in the garden tending to her plants."

"I'm glad for them. They finally found some time for themselves and then for me in their time. Though, I have to admit. With their constant surveillance on me gone. I Don't know what to do… And now I'm only reciting my time, remembering the people I know as my family."

"Then there's my brother, Rudeus."

"Speaking of my brother… What can I say? He is a very "Interesting brother"." Yoriichi nearly cringed at trying to summarize his brother."He's always the one to move from room to room in the house, never sticking to one place at a time. I would perhaps put the word off-putting to his actions rather than anything else." Yoriichi stops his thoughts.

"No… I shouldn't be put off by his actions. Placing a bad light on a person isn't what I should be doing. He's only a child. He was always moving around the house and exploring everything in sight. Very energetic, as any child should be. And what else, I never got to know my brother over the years. So what right did I have to judge him?"

"Truthful, I should take it out of his book and explore the house like my brother. There aren't any restrictions stopping me. Unlike my previous life, I was always stuck in my room throughout the day. But the good memories still bring a smile to me." Yoriichi thinks, "Perhaps I should find my brother?

"Engaging with my brother would be a good move. Maybe I'll get to bond with him better than I did with mine." Yoriichi paused his mind; his thoughts clouded with a dark cloud. "I should try to find Rudy first. But where to look? He was always anywhere at any time."

Deciding to find his brother. However, and yet not knowing where he could have wandered off to, as expected of Rudy. But then I spotted Lilia, the maid, in the not-so-far distance, still cleaning away at dishes.

"Hm… Ah! I should just ask Lilia. She would know. She was always the one to find and keep track of my brother." Yoriichi thought.

Casually approaching the maid whilst she was cleaning away at her household duties, Asher Greyrat talked near her.

With her being completely concentrated on her cleaning, a noise beyond her could be heard—a voice she was never familiar with or anyone she knew.

"Miss Lilia, can I ask if you know where Brother Rudeus is?" Yoriichi talked in such a gentle voice as to not lay fear on the maid in any form, still monotone with no real emotion coming off him.

Lilia turned around as a hawk, disturbed by an unknown voice never once in her life familiar to her.

"Who… Who just talked?" Lilia frantically searched for the noise, constantly swaying her head from side to side just to search for anything that was above her eye level. Yet she saw nothing, as if no one was there to begin with.

"Excuse me… have I disturbed you? I apologize; I didn't mean to."

"Again that noise… It's coming below from me. Just who Is—" Lilia's thoughts completely stopped.

"M— Mas…Master… Asher…" Lilia completely froze, unable to comprehend the scene right in front of her. Lilia was barely able to get out her greetings.

"Is something wrong? I haven't done anything to upset you?" Yoriichi spoke, unaware of the true meaning of the shock he inflicted on the maid.

"He's speaking. The boy, who had never cried since birth—rarely ever showing an expression on his face—believed to be a frail boy who never moves—just spoke. For the first time in his life, he spoke. And just to ask to know where his brother was? As if it were nothing. I'm shocked, beyond my ability to understand the moment. I need some time. I need… I need a breather." Lilia froze for the next few seconds. I am still unable to move. Leaving Asher unanswered.

"Are you okay?" Yoriichi asked, genuinely concerned for the maid's well-being, as he tried to offer solace in any way he could to comfort her.

Even with faults. She was considered a family member in his eyes. So the worry was truly warranted.

"Ye—Yes. I'm okay… Just… Give me a second." Lilia spoke exhausted, as if she had done a marathon worth of running.

"Breathe in and out, Lilia. Don't panic. Just tell Master Asher where to go to find Rudy. Knowing it, he's still probably holed up in Paul's study. Just tell him. Yes, it is very simple. Don't make it sound like I'm having difficulty. That isn't what a maid should be doing; maids are dignified and always calm and collective."

"He's in Paul's study, on the second floor." Lilia could barely raise a finger in the direction of Paul's room toward Asher. Finding self-gratification towards her actions.

"Thank you, Miss Lilia…But, do you need assistance getting up?"

"What…? I don't need assistance to get up. Lilia spoke, and without realizing it, she was on perfect eye level with Asher. The boy, who was still a simple child, was at eye level with her. But how?

"Huh? What? How am I staring at Master Asher in the eye? Am I…" Lilia thought as she looked down at her body, and somehow she was sprawled down on the floor, her knees and feet too weak to support her now. As if she forgot how to use her legs.

"How did I fall over on the ground…? Did hearing Master Asher's words the first time give me that much of a shock that I collapsed on myself?" Lilia almost feels pitiful for the unsightly display she's showcasing towards Asher; she tries to do something to mitigate the embarrassment. "I need to at the very least get on my feet. But I can't get up; I can only get on my knees, and that's it. Pathetic. It's this leg; I still feel the pain when I overexert myself on it. But I need to at the very least get up. C'mon Lilia. Get up."

Self-depreciation of your own will. There was no way to force a scar to heal, no matter how much you begged. Or how much you push yourself. In the end, it is pointless to be alone.

Yet, someone came.

"Let me help," Asher spoke to the struggling Lilia.

"No. Its fi—" Lilia could barely finish her sentence. Before getting her body hoisted on the side of her injured leg by the small frame of the still child, Asher.

"Don't push yourself. Let me help you." And just like that, with the frame of an infantile child, Asher Greyrat lifted the entire weight of Lilia, to the shock of what she expected. And then putting her back on her feet. Lilia stayed completely dumbstruck, with Asher not being the wiser. "There we go. Do you feel okay? Do you need extra support? If yes. I can help you with your housework." Asher asked. He was still worried about her condition, and he gladly offered anything else he could.

Lilia couldn't answer; her mind was paralyzed by the action Asher had just displayed, and she could barely manage to get out a word. "No, I'm okay..."

"Just how did Master Asher just lift me from the ground? He's only three years old. How can a child lift me with that little ease?" Lilia was beyond confused, unable to figure out an answer to the actions and the truth of the boy's strength.

"How strong can a child be…? Unless… A blessed child. Asher could be a blessed child. That is the only reason I can come up with this display of strength. And here I thought he could have been cursed at birth, with that birthmark on his left forehead and his near untraceable presence that always frightened—not only me but Zenith herself. But this is the strength and warmth of kindness. I don't know how to put it—except it brings a sense of being enveloped by a gentle ray of the sun's light." Lilia thought.

With Asher still standing close, still by her side, providing any form of support he could.

"Then is this a part of his blessing or just a part of his nature? I don't know. But. I can only be thankful for his generosity and courteous offer of support. But I must refuse. Master Asher is engaging for once in his life. And it's to find his brother. I can impeach Asher on something like that. They should bond. It's the right choice here. A maid should not get in the way of it." Lilia decided—for she shall not interfere with this once-in-a-lifetime moment, for this is the first task that master Asher was ever given.

A special request—one at that. Kind, with no malice in it. But childish curiosity to her own eyes.

"Thank you, Master Asher. Truly. But don't worry. I'll be okay. Please go off to see your brother. I'm sure you'll find more interest." She thanked him with a smile, yet one last question lingered in her mind."But if I may ask,? How could you tell that I had an injury on my leg? I presume I never spoke of it?" Lilia asked.

"Oh…" He stopped as he thought about what to say about her injury. "You see, I simply saw that your leg was injured with my eyes."

"How…?" Lilia spoke as if She truly wanted to know. Curiosity filled her veins as she answered the question.

"Hm…" Somewhere in Yoriichi's mind, a memory appears: one of him telling his twin brother of this same ability he always processed.

"Strange… I could just now perfectly recount that same day, and now this same feeling is happening with Lilia. But now… Should I answer? When I did, it was with my brother that I gave him my explanation and made him seem a little out of it at first. But I never knew what he thought of it. But later, I did. It was the ability that I processed that made him make such a face of confusion. But then, should I tell her? Will she be disengaged by me if I tell her of my ability? Will the same result happen again?".

Yoriichi thought and thought. Just this moment gave him a sense of nearly infinite possibilities to choose from. Yet there were, truthfully, only two.

" Do I not trust Lilia then?..." Yoriichi's mind nearly broke apart. This decision so small yet so big, was becoming all too difficult to make. "No… No, no, no. It's not that I don't trust Lilia. I'm afraid of making her not trust me instead." Yoriichi came to the truth of his mind.

"I'm afraid. I was just afraid of taking the same path that led me to my separation from my brother. And if I make the same choices in my previous life as I did, the repeat shall happen." Yoriichi's thoughts only swirled more and more.

But yet, Lilia's face told him something entirely different.

"She's smiling, patiently waiting for my answer. And with no condescension to be found. It almost makes me forget why I even hesitated to answer." Yoriichi's mind would now clear up with just one smile from Lilia, filled only with curiosity. " What was I even worried about… She'll never break apart from something like me telling her about the transparent world. It won't happen. The past will not haunt this present."

"To put it, Lilia. My eyes. I can see through your skin, your muscles, and your bones. It is like it was not even there. And not only that. I can see your blood veins and your pattern of breathing; they are all freely visible to me. That is why I can see that your leg is injured. Is it okay with you? I don't want to freak you out if that's not normal. And if it is, then my apologies." Yoriichi would conclude, telling her the complete truth.

"See?" Lilia didn't talk for the next second, her face blank to read.

"...." Yoriichi only starred on. Worried for what may come.

Lilia only smiled, almost relieving any worry with one action.

"You're truly a blessed child, Master Asher." Lilia said, hugging Asher, which made him nearly jump from the sudden action taking place." Use that gift for good. Just as you did with me. You can truly help people in need with that ability. So use it well." Lilia spoke truthfully and honestly from the heart. I am still in a deep embrace with Asher.

With Asher's body still motionless, he is incapable of knowing what to do in the present. But still, a sense of determination flickers in his eyes.

"I feel… So… I don't know. Is this Joy? I haven't felt like this since... I can barely remember. My travels in my last years nearly made me forget it all. But this sensation." Yoriichi returned the hug in turn. Tears now finally begin to form once more.

No

Tears fell from the eyes of the lonely man, who had traveled nearly his whole life alone throughout Japan in an endless pursuit of one man.

Yoriichi Tsugikuni. No. Asher Greyrat cried on the shoulder of Lilia, the housemaid of the Greyrat family. For the first time in my life.

Not sadness. But a newfound Joy and relief came from the words of the maid.

"Thank you…" Asher hugged tightly, himself finding it hard to control his body and yet making sure to now harm Lilia's.

"It's fine. There is nothing to thank me for. Thank the gods for giving you this gift. I know you'll use it for good." Lilia spoke, now fully seeing the tears for herself.

First came a shock.

But then there is a sense of familiarity, almost a sight for sore eyes—something she wishes to see from the child forever. And now it comes. She could only provide a comforting pat on his head—something she wished to do but was previously unable to give—and now she finally could indulge in a sweet moment.

"This should be what Zenith should be doing. But… Still… I'm not sure what sparked this emotion from Master Asher. Well, It shouldn't matter. I just hope now he can grow up well."

Lilia and Asher would stay interlocked for the next minute. Just the tears that formed in Asher's eyes would dissipate. Which only took a few seconds. And just yet, Asher didn't let go an extra minute.

Only to finally see Asher decide to separate first.

"My apologies. I took up your time with that." Asher apologized courteously, returning right back to his normal stoic face.

The same Lilia was familiar with. But I am not saddened by it. Only an expected nostalgia for that same facial expression. As if she wished to see this face more.

"It's okay. You didn't take up any of my time, Master Asher. Just take care. And go on. Go and talk with your brother. Or play with him. That's what you should prioritize, for you are still a child. But remember. You're a kind soul, and in my opinion, that is a wonderful trait to possess. So grow well... And use it for good." Lilia spoke genuinely, in an attempt to comfort the boy with kind, warming words. Just after seeing the intimate moment and emotions that came from him.

"Thank you then… I won't forget your words, Lilia." Asher gave one more smile before taking one more movement to see if Lilia was truly fine. Finding her condition okay in his own eyes.

"I truly don't know how to thank you anymore. But… Lilia, you don't need to worry. My idea to be kind in your words was and always will be a part of me. Protecting the innocent was always my goal. Never something I ever went out of my way to accomplish. It is the only right to be protected. And now, with this family,. I'll make sure to always do that. That is an unturnable promise." Asher vowed.

For since, and now forever. To protect this family. And now, with the backed-up words of Lilia,. "My goals are a little more clear. Thank you, Lilia, for making it clear for me."

And with one last nod, Asher Greyrat moves towards the nearby staircase, only leaving one last look in Lilia's direction. Before fading out of view of the handmaid's eyes.

"Master Asher… I apologize… For even ever thinking you were even cursed or inflicted with some ailment from birth or how frail we thought you were. I see now that you're only a kind child and just quiet-spoken, but the tears you shed told me a thousand words. Just how much did you suffer deep down? Just how couldn't I ever see that? No… It's that unreadable presence he always holds." Lilia took a breath as she thought about the next move she must take in action.

"I'll first inform Master Zenith and Master Paul about this discovery of mine. And truly tell what a truly enigmatic child Asher is. And just maybe we'll understand him then." Lilia thought, then turned around back toward her duties. "But for now, I'll let Master Asher and Master Rudeus perhaps bond together. And honestly. I don't think they ever did interact once."

And at that,. Lilia continued her duties. The only hope left was that of the moment the two siblings may have together. Maybe something nice might grow between them.

Asher only took a minute to find the room Lilia mentioned. Finding it, he slowly approached. He gently turned the nob as he stopped halfway.

"I never did interact with my brother once. But I do wonder what he is like and what he has been doing for so long in this room throughout his time." Asher thought, curiosity filling his soul. But a worrying feeling filled him too. "I just hope I don't do something wrong." And as he did, Asher opened the door. Only to be brought to a mind-opening view.

Terrifying and beautiful. That was the best way to explain the view of what Asher sees; it could almost leave anyone dumbstruck by the view, and if not for Asher's previous life experience of seeing displays of this, it would have left him feeling like that.

"Why is there a massive ball of water coming from my brother's hand… Wait… That magic." Asher thought as he saw the insane display in almost slow motion, his instincts telling him to take extra caution of the power of the water ball in his view.

"With that much force—Wait! It's going to come out at any moment. Asher thought as his instincts took over, and he knew something massive was about to come. "He's going to get hurt." Asher though his downed air left a worry.

"Brother!" Asher yelled out in an attempt to stop this insanely dangerous force of magic.

"Huh…?" Rudeus Greyrat turned his sights to a voice he somehow knew. Yet the feeling still felt like no one was around. "Brother!" Rudeus spoke out.

And in the same moment, noises of explosions were produced

*Boom!* *Crash!* *Drizzle*

And just in that same moment, the same massive ball of water blasted a massive hole in the wall. Leaving both Asher and Rudeus completely stupefied. And yet, even though Asher did feel like it, he didn't show it.

"Brother Rudeus… What did you do? " Asher spoke out, his face still monotone and expressionless. But deep down, he thought.

"What was truly that…? I'm beyond… I can't even form words to understand." And thus, Asher only stood stationary, his eyes still interlocked with those of his brother.

"Ah…. He he. Um, please don't tell Mom and Dad." Rudeus pleaded with a nervous smile.

Asher only breathed in deeply; his thoughts paused. Too dumbstruck, yet worry still fell throughout the air. "Brother, I believe that will be impossible.

And with those words, both brothers stood in Paul's study. Now with a newly remodeled open hole.

Just perfect to get some freshly breathable air.

Maybe enough to calm things down?

Notes:

Hm... 4ish days to write a chapter. Kinda crazy.

But my feeling is that if I did write a good dialogue between Lilia and Asher/Yoriichi, Yeah, like 3000 words worth of it. But is it even good?

That's something I don't know. But maybe something a reader might feel.

Well anyways. Enjoy this chapter.

I hope I can deliver better storytelling and ideas to all in a heart-provoking way to everyone one day.
