Chapter Text

They fell into silence after everything Jinwoo had said. He wasn't sure if he overstepped. Though from the looks of the people around the table, he doesn't think he did.

Dinner was served, and the servant who served him his plate was nervous. He wondered for a moment if everyone in this realm could see his army inside his shadow. The evidence around him doesn't support that. He can see some servants trying to take a peek at his shadow, but no one else had reacted as badly as the first one.

He can't really name the kind of meat on his plate, but he was familiar enough with potatoes and carrots. Taking a bite of the meat, a gamey flavor covered the inside of his mouth. He hummed in appreciation. He supposes that Tywin, since he is a lord, will have a very skilled chef in his employment.

"May I inquire as to why you have come to this…land?" Tywin asked him in between bites.

Jinwoo took a moment to consider the question. He supposed there aren't any problem in answering it. The system said that this realm used to have the Monarchs. Looking around, he noticed that they didn't really progress after the Monarchs—or they haven't yet. But, given that they are already a warrior civilization, it's easy to see that they know how to fight in a way that is similar to the Hunters of his world. It's an easy conclusion to make that, somehow, the Monarchs touched this world. It is up to Jinwoo to figure out how. Perhaps Tywin can help him with that.

"I am looking for information regarding the Monarchs."

"There is only one Monarch in this land," Tywin answered. "The Targaryen. They came to this land three hundred years ago, riding their dragons. They've successfully conquered all of Westeros. We have been under their rule ever since."

From how tense Tywin was. Jinwoo can guess that perhaps the Targaryens aren't that good at their job as rulers. Knowing what he knows, he supposes beings that are merely agents of chaos would be bad at ruling. After all, it is Ashborn who sought balance—not the Monarchs or Rulers. Either way, Jinwoo knows that he needs more shadows for his army for what was to come.

"Dragons." He blurted out. "Where can I find them?"

"They've gone extinct," Tywin said plainly. "Almost two hundred years ago, the Targaryens fought over who would rule over Westeros. A war broke out. It has been called the Dance of Dragons. The Targaryens lost their dragons."

Jinwoo let out a disappointed sigh. Thinking about it deeply, he doesn't think that a Monarch will let their army fall just like that. No, there has to be a reason for this.

"Tell me more about the Targaryens and their dragons." He spoke.

Tywin was quiet for a moment. "It is said that each Targaryen has a special connection to each dragon—that it is a dragon that chooses the rider."

Jinwoo shook his head. He thought that can't be the case; each of his shadows is connected to him fully. There must be a misunderstanding happening here. "But the Targaryen king doesn't have a dragon."

"No," Tywin said in a steely tone. "He does not."

"Then he isn't the Monarch that I'm looking for." He simply stated. "He's just another mortal." Still, even the presence of dragons would mean that, while the Monarch wasn't there, they were once. Aside from him, he doesn't know anyone who can control a dragon, and he can only control Kaisel because he has become Jinwoo's shadow. He wonders if the Monarch of Destruction has any relation to these Targaryens.

Tywin tilted his head slightly to the side, as if agreeing with him. "If you don't mind me asking, my lord. Why the interest in dragons?"

"I need some." By some, Jinwoo mentally knows he needs a lot.

"I can't imagine what a dragon can do for you, my lord."

It's Jinwoo's turn to tilt his head to the side. He wonders if Tywin can also see the army he carries in his shadow. "A single one, used properly, can protect a whole city—have enough of them, they can protect the whole world." Or, that is what he would like to try achieving.

"A creature of destruction used for protection." Tywin's incredulity was noted. "I can't imagine."

Jinwoo stared at the man. "I understand the doubt. Under the control of a madman, a dragon can wreak havoc." He remembers Kamish.

The next course was served. He was glad that they gave him juice instead of wine. Ever since maxing his health stat, he is no longer affected by alcohol, and he was never one to indulge anyway. He often thought of buying more groceries for him and his sister instead of buying an alcoholic drink.

He's trying to think of other Monarchs that could be here. He knows that there are nine Monarchs, and he is one of them. He wonders if Tywin would know. The man did say that it's almost two hundred years. He wonders if the Monarchs have been gone from this realm longer than the dragons have been extinct. If that is the case, would people even remember them? Would there be any written history about it? Perhaps children's stories?

Jinwoo thought back to the first Monarch he had met. "You've had dragons—what about giants?" Legia may be dead and no longer a problem for him, but if there ever was a trace or story about giants roaming in this realm, then there will be traces and stories about the rest.

Tywin's eyes showed he knew something, but he didn't say right away. Jinwoo wondered for a moment what was stopping him. He knows that he may sound crazy if he were speaking to a normal person. But Tywin knows that dragons once existed in this realm. The logical leaps that Jinwoo made weren't that out of this world, in his opinion.

"There are stories from the North, my Lord."

Jinwoo couldn't help but breathe easier upon hearing that.

Tywin can't help think but it is strange—the Stranger's line of questioning. Dragons and giants. He knows that dragons are real; he has seen the bones of those creatures. But giants? He had always thought that the Northerners simply liked their tall tales. But it is a God who is asking about giants. Tywin supposes that stories do have to come from somewhere.

"I could ask a Maester to search for any story we might have in our library," Tywin said. "Perhaps even write a letter to the Maester that is currently employed in the North to ask about the stories they have."

Jinwoo stared at him for a moment—as if trying to gauge Tywin's sincerity. "That would be appreciated." The God paused. "I'll repay you for your efforts."

Tywin wondered what the God had in mind. "You honor me, my Lord."

They continued with their meal. Tywin waited for Jinwoo to speak once more, but it seemed like the God was satisfied for now. He proceeded to ask Genna and Kevan about the affairs he had tasked them to deal with. From the peripheral of his eyes, he noticed that the God was paying attention as well.

His siblings performed as Tywin expected them, too. He gave them an approving nod. He can tell that Jinwoo was observing the interaction closely. Tywin wondered if his worth as a Lord was being judged right at that moment.

Dinner ended, and Jinwoo excused himself to head to the library. Whatever the God was trying to find out, he wasn't wasting any time figuring it out. Tywin never thought that perhaps Gods would have qualities that a mortal can have as well.

He ordered one of the servants to find the woman who saw the Stranger's hidden army. He waited for the woman inside his solar, along with Kevan and Genna—Jaime and Cersei were sent to bed right away. He noticed the slight shaking of Genna's hand and the tension on Kevan's shoulder. Tywin kept his expression as neutral as possible. It wouldn't do them any good if the three of them were emotional.

The servant walked inside his solar, shaking like a leaf still. She stuttered a greeting and did her best to curtsy. She also kept her eyes down on the floor.

Tywin didn't bother with small talk—there is no point to it after all. "What did you see?"

The woman whimpered. She closed her eyes tightly—if it was to chase the image away from her mind or remember, Tywin wasn't sure. "Eyes, m'lord. Eyes upon eyes." She whispered. "I know not how to count prop'ly, m'lord, all I saw were eyes—plenty of them."

Tywin could hear the squeak of tightening leather. He didn't have to turn to Kevan to know that his brother must be balling his hands tightly. "What did they look like?"

"Fearsome, m'lord." Her tone suggests otherwise in Tywin's opinion. "They were staring—moving, looking at the walls and everything else. They seem to be…keeping the Stranger safe from unseen danger."

Tywin leaned forward on his table, hands clasped in front of him. "You are dismissed."

The woman tried to curtsy once more and exited his solar.

Silence reigned over his solar. His siblings were trying their best not to give anything away. But Tywin can sense how unsure they both seem to be. He didn't wait for them to say anything. There is nothing else to say after all. They have a God under their roof who wants to learn about mythical creatures. Tywin has a bad feeling about it, but he is not going to just freely express that with his siblings.

"Call the Maester." He said to one of them—at this point, he doesn't care who would follow his order. All that mattered was that the Maester be called in his solar. They have some information that they need to collect to present to the God.

Tywin didn't ask how long the God would be staying with them and he doesn't really have any plan on doing so. He doesn't want to seem as if he wants the God gone and cause insult towards the God. The best thing he can do right now is be prepared for whatever the God would ask of him.

He turned to Genna. "Make sure that the kitchen is properly stocked, fresh fruit and vegetables, and a variety of meat that's available—maybe also fish." He did meet the God in the sea and used the sea water for this 'baptism'.

He had given the imp to the Stranger to serve the God. He wonders what Jinwoo saw in the child. Tywin refuses to believe that a God would appear just for anyone. But, then again, what sane man would dedicate their child to the Stranger? He wondered for a moment if this was a first for the Stranger that it required his attention.

Tywin turned his attention to Kevan. "Ensure that the servants know to serve the Stranger to the best of their ability, and incompetence shall be punished." Kevan nodded at that, understanding the severity of angering a God.

The door of his solar opened, and the Maester entered—looking alert. Tywin supposes that news traveled fast inside his household, and the Maester would want to be abreast of news, especially one regarding a God. "My Lord." Creylen greeted him.

"I'm sure that you've heard." Tywin didn't bother with greetings. "The God in our presence is looking for information regarding Monarchs, though he didn't show much interest in the Targaryen dynasty, make sure that information about them will be readily available. He also wants to know about mythical creatures from the North, giants and the like. If you can find any other information regarding other mythical creatures, make that available as well." He paused. "Try finding out where exactly dragons came from and where they could be now if they haven't gone extinct. I believe the Stranger has a special interest in them."

He can hardly blame the God for the interest. A part of him was glad that the God spoke about using the dragons for protection instead of destruction. Still, if mortals can be fickle, he knows that Gods can as well. Best not to test it, he thought.

"Also, write the Citadel regarding 'baptism'." He stared at the man, trying to see if Creylen's expression would show any familiarity upon hearing the word.

Creylen's face was one of confusion. "Baptism, my lord?"

"The Stranger said that it is a ritual wherein a parent dedicates a child in service of a God." He stated simply. With understanding dawning in Creylen's face, Tywin reached for a parchment. He has to tell the rest of Westeros about his newborn son.

Genna was ready to call the man pretending to be a God a charlatan in front of the man's face upon hearing of their guest. She went about collecting Cersei and Jaime, making sure they were wearing the appropriate attire for dinner and being presented to their guest. She may believe the man to be a charlatan, but the children should still be presentable. After all, keeping up appearances is half the battle most of the time.

Then, she saw the man—the God. The Stranger himself. It wasn't even the God's posture that gave him away. It was his eyes. It seems to project the power just behind his porcelain skin.

She took note of the Stanger's interest in the kids. It wasn't too much, but it was enough for Genna to feel nervous. And as it was revealed during dinner that a 'baptism' had taken place, Genna knows who exactly Tywin had dedicated to the God. She wonders if the Stranger wants the rest of the children. She wonders what would happen to Tywin's legacy if the Stranger takes all his children. Or, if securing Tywin's legacy was part of the barter.

Genna, knowing when to speak up and when to shut up, kept quiet during dinner. She listened carefully. There was a strange cadence as the God spoke. It wasn't his accent but rather the emotion that slipped when Cersei asked for Joanna back.

Then, the conversation about why the God is here was asked. Genna wondered why Tywin would ask that since he was the reason why the God was there. Did his brother think that the God wouldn't appear after a child was sacrificed to him? She doubts that.

The God told them of his search for monarchs, dragons and giants. Genna would admit it only to herself; it seems like her perspective of the world is changing. While the dragons had been real, she wouldn't have considered giants to be real as well. But, if the God is asking, there is only one answer to whether giants are real or not.

They reconvene at Tywin's solar. Tywin spoke to the servant, gave them more orders, and also gave orders to Creylen. Still, Genna knows the conversation isn't done yet.

Genna waited for Creylen to be out of the room before speaking. "How did you even conceive child sacrifice? How could you?" She couldn't help the vitriol that escaped her lips. It was painful for her to lose Joanna; it was painful for the whole family, but the late Lady Lannister was clear in her desire to make sure her youngest was taken care of.

"Mind your tongue." Tywin hissed at her.

"No, this is far too much, Tywin." Genna can feel her insides tremble, fear or courage, she doesn't even know. "He is just a child. It was his fault—"

"I didn't know!" Tywin cut her off with a yell that was touched with pain.

Kevan gasped at that. The sound made Genna turn to Kevan. He explained his reaction. "I had a feeling that—that Tywin was tricked by the God."

Tywin exhaled roughly. "Well, it's nice to know that at least one of you still believes I am not as heartless as I appear to be."

"What does that mean?" Genna asked.

"I—"Tywin hesitated. "I was by the shore, holding the babe, I was thinking of throwing the babe in the ocean—let the wave have him. But something was stopping me. The babe may have taken Joanna from me, but he is still a Lannister." He admitted with an ounce of shame. "I don't know how long I was standing there, holding him in my hands. Then, the Stranger just appeared. I uttered no word of sacrifice or service to him, but he appeared, and he requested to hold the babe." He stared at them. "Would you refuse the stranger, if you were in my position?"

"What do you plan to do now?" She exhaled deeply, the tight knot in her chest not loosening. "If you truly didn't give Tyrion to the Stranger, how could you take him back?"

"Can we even take Tyrion back?" Kevan asked. "This is a God we're talking about. For all we know, he thought that it wasn't Tyrion's time, so he intervened on his own accord."

"We will give the Stranger whatever information he needs regarding the monarchs that he is searching for," Tywin answered. "Maybe that would make him…take his adventure elsewhere."

Genna's breath was caught in her throat. Due to her not holding her emotions back, she had forgotten that perhaps the Stranger could hear them. Perhaps she'll send the Mother and the Maiden a prayer, and hopefully the Stranger lets her live till the next day.

"As for the babe…"Tywin couldn't end the thought. How could he? How could any of them? The God had proclaimed Tyrion to be his servant, but she doesn't think there is anything around it.

It doesn't matter she thought, she will care for Tyrion just as Joanna wanted.
