Shadows of Moon Glave: A Tale of the Seven Kingdoms

Chapter 3: Chapter 2 : Beyond Westeros

Summary:

In King's Landing, Westeros, King Viserys, Corlys Velaryon, and Otto Hightower discuss the mysterious island and Daemon's actions. Viserys orders an increase in the size of the exploration fleet, while Otto argues that Daemon should be punished, but Viserys defends him while still being worried.

Meanwhile, upon arriving at Moon Glave, Daemon is attacked by a talking, giant, and intelligent red dragon (Odahviing). Odahviing scorns humans and claims Moon Glave as the realm of the great conqueror.

At that moment, a powerful voice appears and orders Odahviing to stop attacking Daemon, and the powerful voice invites Daemon to the white tower.

Daemon and Caraxes head towards the white tower, and Daemon witnesses the island's strange and advanced city. Upon arriving at the top of the tower, Daemon meets Ismir Stormcrown, the ruler of Moon Glave, guided by a non-human being. Ismir is described as a powerful figure with a unique appearance.

Notes:

It will likely be very lacking. Thank you for your interest. As I said again, English is not my native language, so there might be awkward parts as you read.

In our country, while the drama related to A Song of Ice and Fire was a success, the related lore is not very well known. The same goes for The Elder Scrolls. Therefore, there might be a significant gap between the readers and me.

Regarding the plot development, I have a direction in mind, but there might be inaccuracies or awkwardness in the progression. If you point these out, I will do my best to improve them.

Chapter Text

Red Keep Library, Viserys sat lost in thought, his gaze fixed on the tightly closed window. The late afternoon sun cast its light on the red-tinged sky, but his heart remained heavy, as if weighed down by a dark shadow. Daemon's reckless actions and the unease surrounding the unidentified island constantly circled his mind. Just then, the library door quietly opened, and Corlys Velaryon and Otto Hightower entered.

"Your Grace, the preparation of the exploration fleet is almost complete," Corlys reported, bowing respectfully to Viserys. A subtle tension and worry were evident in his eyes.

Viserys slowly turned his head to look at Corlys and said in a weary voice, "We must increase the size of the exploration fleet. That island may hold dangers beyond our imagination. We need to be thoroughly prepared, considering all possibilities."

Corlys bowed to Viserys once more and hurriedly left the library. His hurried footsteps as he moved to issue orders for the fleet's reorganization conveyed a sense of urgency.

Only Viserys and Otto remained in the library. The red light of the setting sun cast long shadows of the two men. Silence lingered for a moment before Otto Hightower spoke first. "Your Grace, as that island is close to Dragonstone, it is only right that it falls under the influence of House Targaryen. However, Prince Daemon's recklessness could lead to unpredictable and dangerous consequences. We must find a way to control him." His voice held undisguised concern.

Viserys listened to Otto's words and fell into deep thought. "Daemon has always been... unpredictable," he said, his voice tinged with resignation and bitterness.

Otto, unable to hide his displeasure, continued firmly, "Your Grace, Prince Daemon's recklessness in clearly disobeying your command and heading to the island could cause serious problems for the kingdom. We must now firmly restrain him. As soon as the Prince returns, his position as Commander of the City Watch should be revoked, and he should be banished to Runestone." His eyes were filled with cold conviction.

Viserys raised his hand, attempting to calm Otto. "Otto, Daemon is my... only brother. I know him better than anyone. He can be arrogant and reckless, but deep down, his heart always holds sincerity for the realm. His impulsiveness sometimes causes trouble, but his courage as a prince cannot be denied. And... wasn't it you who suggested offering him the position of Commander of the City Watch?" His voice trembled slightly.

Otto hesitated for a moment at Viserys's words but still retorted sharply with a displeased expression, "Your Grace is well aware that it was merely... a temporary measure. The Prince is not a suitable figure for these chaotic times."

Viserys, feeling deeply weary at Otto's stubbornness, waved his hand dismissively and cut him off. "The judgment of Daemon... is something I will handle myself. I do not doubt your loyalty, but in these turbulent times, I ask that you refrain from further mention of Daemon. I too... have my own thoughts on the matter." His voice was tired, but he made an effort to maintain his kingly authority.

Otto did not argue further. However, deep dissatisfaction and unease remained etched on his face. He firmly closed his lips, gave Viserys a short bow, and left the library. His heavy footsteps conveyed a deep distrust of Viserys's indecisiveness and worry about the potential crisis that might lie ahead.

Unlike Viserys's uneasy worries, Daemon's complexion had turned ashen white. The events of today alone were enough to make his thought processes cease, but the sudden appearance of the dragon had brought a sense of eeriness even to the fearless Daemon.

"A dragon?!"

With the sudden, majestic roar of the red dragon, Daemon's violet eyes shook violently. An unbelievable spectacle that would shake his long-held worldview to its very core began to unfold in rapid succession.

"Dovah mul! Hin kah fen kos nid dovah!" the red dragon's voice was magnificent and dignified.

For Daemon, the fact that a dragon was speaking in a human language, and in unfamiliar words at that, was a shocking event beyond imagination. Engulfed in confusion and extreme bewilderment, the red dragon, who had been closely following behind Caraxes, became even more furiously enraged when they didn't understand his words, and fiercely exhaled a breath as hot and acrid as a volcano.

"To dare set foot on this land without even understanding our language! Mortal! Your arrogance is utterly detestable! This is Moon Glave, the realm of the great conqueror! How dare you reveal your foolishness by riding a paltry lizard that merely imitates a dragon!" The red dragon's voice was filled with contempt and fury.

It was a fleeting moment filled with a mix of confused thoughts and intense emotions. Daemon's whole body trembled violently at the red dragon's scornful words. But it wasn't just fear. Deep within his heart, a boiling, hot rage was also violently surging. "I am Daemon Targaryen! This island is the land of our kingdom! What are you?!" His voice trembled with agitation.

The red dragon responded to Daemon's shout with a contemptuous, cold laugh. "Targaryen? A paltry name I have never heard. But it is far too grand a name for a worthless mortal like you to dare utter! This is not the territory of your kingdom or anything like it! How foolish and arrogant you are, mortal!"

As the red dragon's mockery filled the dark skies of Moon Glave, Daemon's fury reached its peak. He immediately spurred Caraxes to charge fiercely towards the red dragon, shouting vehemently, "I don't care who you are! This island is ours! And no being can stop us!"

The red dragon, as if scoffing at Daemon's reckless challenge, threw back his massive head and let out a thunderous roar. "Fus Ro Dah!" (Force, Balance, Push!)

The powerful Dragon Shout struck like a visible storm, engulfing Daemon and Caraxes. The wave of immense power, as if it had form, instantly shook Caraxes's massive body, enough to break the balance of the furiously flapping dragon in an instant. The enormous shockwave strongly pressed against Daemon's entire body.

'If it weren't for the saddle chains, I would have fallen.' Even amidst the deafening pressure, Daemon was an exceptional dragonrider. He quickly stabilized Caraxes, displaying the full measure of his skill. "Caraxes, Drakarys!"

As Daemon commanded with a blazing red gaze, a fierce dragonfire erupted from Caraxes's mouth like a massive tongue, rushing fiercely towards the red dragon.

"How crude! Mortal! I shall show you with your own eyes what true dragonfire is! Yol Toor Shul!" (Fire, Inferno, Sun)

In that instant, an unimaginably massive storm of fire erupted from the red dragon's mouth, violently bursting forth as if tearing through the dark sky. It collided fiercely with Caraxes's flames, but the red dragon's fire engulfed and swallowed Caraxes's flames in an instant like a giant wave, rushing even more fiercely towards Daemon and his dragon.

Daemon swiftly maneuvered Caraxes, narrowly avoiding the raging flames, but in that fleeting moment, the red dragon's massive hind paw shot out and firmly grasped Caraxes's sturdy torso as if it were a toy.

"Seven Hells!"

Under the deep, dark sky of Moon Glave, Daemon's scream and Caraxes's agonizing shriek echoed sharply.

The red dragon did not cease his cold mockery, as if enjoying their confusion and despair. "Mortal, your bravery is commendable, but you are far too foolish. But I shall grant you an eternal end worthy of that courage."

Gasping for breath, Daemon thought desperately. What is this dragon, and where is this place? And why does it possess such immense power? As death approached, countless memories flashed rapidly through his mind like a panorama. Among them, the most intense and vivid memory was, ironically, of his brother, Viserys.

"Viserys..."

Sensing his impending death, Daemon closed his eyes in resignation, ready to quietly accept the coming doom. At that very moment, a powerful and majestic voice, like thunder, echoed from the deeply shadowed sky.

"Odahviing! Krosis! Zu'u los ni zin do fin daar mortal do daal!" (Odahviing! Sorrow! I will not allow the death of this mortal!)

A low, magnificent voice echoed softly once more. "Dovahkiin... Sossed. Zu'u los hi los aan suleyk." (Dragonborn... Understood. I will obey your command.) The red dragon muttered in a low voice. At the same time, the force of the massive hind paw that had been gripping Caraxes slowly loosened, and soon Daemon and Caraxes were able to break free from the red dragon's powerful hold.

The red dragon stared at Daemon and Caraxes for a moment with cold, sharp eyes, then spread his massive wings and powerfully flapped them in the opposite direction from which they had come, disappearing into the darkness. Daemon turned his head towards the direction from which the voice had come. The violently surging emotions had subsided, and now a strong curiosity, along with a strange anticipation, began to envelop his entire body.

"Prince Daemon Targaryen, I know who you are. Therefore, according to your ancient laws, I invite you by the right of the master. Come to the tower. I shall see you there." A mysterious voice whispered softly in Daemon's ear.

Daemon remained silent for a moment, but finally nodded faintly at the voice he heard. He commanded his dragon in High Valyrian, "Good. My dragon will go with me. Kessa, avy jorrāelan naejot sȳz hen rytsas." (Caraxes, take us to that tower.)

A moment later, the voice echoed softly once more. "Rytsas..." (Willingly)

Daemon steered Caraxes towards the top of the pure white tower that stood tall before them. As the distance to the tower closed, the astonishing sight of the island's interior, faintly veiled by darkness and fog, began to clearly reveal itself before Daemon's violet eyes.

"Seven..."

Even Daemon, who was far from devout, could not help but utter the name of the gods before the unbelievable and magnificent spectacle unfolding before him.

Previously described as being in the center of the island, upon closer approach, the tower was revealed to be situated on a sheer black cliff. The pure white tower stood precariously atop a sheer black cliff on the island. And firmly positioned to the west, south, and north of the tower were massive white circular fortresses, seemingly built to defend the tower. Below the fortresses and sturdy walls, a vast city, neatly divided like an intricately woven grid, densely filled every part of the island.

Everywhere his gaze reached, it was filled with vibrant vitality and an aura of prosperity. Even King's Landing, the capital of Westeros, felt shabby and insignificant in comparison to this place. This was truly a city of light, and it seemed worthy of being called the queen of cities. Daemon stared in awe at this incredible sight for a long moment, imprinting it upon his eyes.

Finally reaching the top of the tower, Daemon gently soothed Caraxes and dismounted. The moment he saw the group quietly waiting to greet him, he could not help but be taken aback.

"The Demi-Prince awaits you, Prince of a foreign land."

He was a lithe man with skin that had a pale blueish hue like volcanic ash, blood-red eyes, and uniquely shaped pointed ears. Daemon instinctively knew that the being before him was not human like himself. The emotion he felt within was not so much wariness towards a strange being, but rather a strong curiosity and interest.

"Then lead me to your lord," Daemon said, deciding to readily follow the words of the man before him. Besides a space that looked like a private garden, there were no structures on the top of the tower. But surprisingly, as the man before him reached out into the air, a door that looked as if it were made of white marble slowly began to appear. Daemon could not hide his surprise at the bizarre sight before him, but he made an effort to maintain a calm expression and stepped without hesitation into the door that had formed, following the man.

The place he had thought was clearly the top of the tower just moments ago turned out to be a lower level once he stepped inside. An endlessly spiraling staircase stretched up to the distant ceiling, and the ancient, bizarre patterns that filled the walls, along with the flow of mysterious and powerful energy felt throughout the tower, were enough to overwhelm Daemon.

"We will not be using the stairs. That is merely decoration here." Before the red-eyed man could finish speaking, a bright blue aura that seemed to connect the center of the tower to its very top slowly began to appear, and soon it began to take clear form before Daemon's eyes. It was like a pillar made of transparent blue liquid.

The red-eyed man entrusted himself to the blue aura without hesitation, and his lithe body floated gently into the air as if defying gravity, quickly moving towards the top of the tower in an instant. With trembling steps, Daemon carefully entrusted himself to the blue aura as he had shown.

"What in the world is this...!"

Daemon also floated gently into the air like the red-eyed man and flew towards the top of the tower in an instant. It did not take long. Upon reaching the top of the tower, the owner of the mysterious voice that had invited Daemon was quietly waiting for him there.

A magnificent hall, clearly belonging to a lord, unfolded before his eyes. The octagonal pillars, standing firmly as if supporting the hall's high ceiling, exuded both overwhelming dignity and a serene atmosphere. At the very end of the hall where his gaze reached, a massive throne sat heavily. The throne, boasting a cold luster as if meticulously crafted from pure silver, had its edges elaborately decorated with brilliant gold, and in the center of its backrest, a huge ruby burned red like a living flame. And on that magnificent throne sat a man.

His skin was close to the pale white of a High Valyrian, but rather than being delicate and elegant, he exuded a strong impression like a sturdy and wild, untamed horse. His appearance seemed to fully reveal the bearing of a seasoned warrior who had survived countless fierce battles. His eyes had a deep blue light like a Northerner, and his hair was long and a bright golden blonde, like the golden sunlight of the Westerlands. He wore it naturally loose, as if he had not bothered to trim it, but rather, this further emphasized his image as a strong warrior. Even his slightest movements while seated on the throne exuded an unapproachable, weighty presence.

Daemon Targaryen was arrogant and impulsive, but he always carried himself with the dignity befitting royalty. Yet at this moment, for the first time in his life, he was enveloped by a strange feeling that made him feel infinitely small and insignificant.

A Targaryen does not kneel before gods or kings. Daemon Targaryen tried his best to maintain his composure to hide his complexly mixed emotions. The man seated on the throne looked at Daemon with interest and smiled gently before slowly rising from the throne to greet him.

"Welcome, Prince Daemon of Westeros. I greet you by the right of the master. I am Ismir Stormcrown, ruler of Moon Glave, the land of eternal night."

Daemon felt as if he would never forget that name. He felt a strong impression being etched deep within his heart.
