Chapter 158 - Chapter 157: Teaching the X-Men (2)

"So how are we going to do this?" Kakashi asked.

Hank stepped forward. He adjusted his glasses. "During our fight, we noticed that despite being outnumbered your team performed better than us. We hope that you could help us in that."

Kakashi considered it before nodding as he looked at the X-Men. Some did not want to be taught by him after having fought with him.

And it was logical considering how they had started with a little enmity.

Kakashi's goal was to observe the mutants' abilities and how far they can push them and how dangerous. Can they reach the power of S-rank jutsus? He needed data.

"You all have good level of teamwork but from what I have noticed you are all relying on just the basic applications of your ability. You could be more versatile with them. You should also work around the limitations of your abilities," Kakashi said.

He then looked at the boy with the glasses who can shoot lasers from his eyes. Cyclops. Someone who did not like him much judging from his posture. Arms crossed. Jaw tight.

"For example, this guy just fires off his laser beam from his eyes then wears his glasses and sits back waiting for another opportunity," Kakashi said.

Scott reacted immediately. "It is not my fault. My ability burns my eyes."

Kakashi nodded. "You could try to just use one eye at a time. You can use glasses with a function that opens one socket at a time. Fire once from it. And then use the other eye while the other eye cools down. Your laser ability from what I have noticed is pretty strong enough to damage someone with just one eye."

Kakashi had used his Susanoo to block the laser beam so he knew how much damage it had done and it might have not looked like it damaged it. It did.

It was because Kakashi had used his chakra immediately to recover it that no one noticed it. The beam had scorched the armor. It had burned through layers of energy. If it had hit flesh, it would have cut deep. Maybe even severed limbs. The power was impressive and dangerous. But limited by Scott's own body.

Kakashi continued. "That is not the only thing that you could do. I suppose the glasses help you contain the energy in your eyes and thus see. Maybe try just putting the glass on one eye to see and then keep the other eye closed. And then you could fire the blasts like a gun with blinks."

Kakashi knew this because he himself had done this back when he had only one Sharingan to use. He also now did it with the new Mangekyō abilities he had acquired. He had learned to fight with one eye covered.

To switch between them. To conserve energy and to maximize output.

That got a lot of Cyclops' attention. Now there was an excited look on his face. His posture changed.

"Tell me more," he said.

Kakashi did. He explained how to cycle the eyes. How to build a rhythm. How to use short bursts instead of constant streams.

How to aim with precision instead of wide blasts. How to save energy. How to reduce strain. Scott listened intently. He asked questions. He took mental notes. The other X-Men watched. Some looked skeptical. Others looked interested.

Kakashi also helped some other X-Men from what he had seen of their abilities in their fight against the Avengers. He turned to Ororo next. "Your weather control is impressive. But you limit yourself to large-scale effects. Lightning. Wind. Rain. You could try smaller, precise strikes. Wind to deflect projectiles. Fog to hide movement. Ice to create barriers. You have more options than storms."

Ororo nodded slowly. She had never thought of using her power in such fine detail. She had always been a force of nature. Now she saw the possibility of being a scalpel instead of a hammer.

Kakashi looked at Logan. "Your healing is excellent. But you rely on it too much. You charge in without strategy. You could use your senses more. And considering you were a military guy at one point of time, I would expect you to use more skill."

Logan grunted. "I get results."

"You get hurt," Kakashi replied.

Logan did not answer. But his eyes narrowed thoughtfully.

Kakashi moved to Jean. He spoke carefully about what he had observed in their fight. "Your telekinesis is powerful. But you hesitate. You hold back. Fear of hurting others limits you. Control comes from practice and not restraint. Train your precision. Lift small objects. Move them exactly where you want. Build fine control. Then scale up."

Jean looked at him. Her eyes were serious. "I do not want to lose control."

Kakashi met her gaze. "Losing control is worse when you have not trained enough. Practice. Master yourself. Then you will not have to be afraid."
