Author's note:
hello hello… did you miss me?
yeah… i know. i disappeared.
first, i'm sorry. truly. senior year hit me like a truck. college applications, decisions, finals… everything decided to pile on at once and i genuinely felt like i was dying 😭but somehow… i survived.
and now i'm finally back.
thank you to everyone who waited, who didn't drop the story, who left comments or just quietly checked in. i see you. i appreciate you more than you know.
but… i gotta be real for a second.
as much as i love writing this story, it doesn't exactly feed me 💀
and recently, i actually got a real job (instead of juggling like six passion projects at once), so life has been… a mess.
that said i'm not dropping this.
updates might not be as fast or consistent as before, but i'm still here. this story is still alive. and we're still going forward.
so thank you for your patience…
and welcome back to my grand return.
Sin was dying.
Not in-game.
Not IRL.
No, he was being mentally crushed under the weight of a demon far older and crueler than any final raid boss.
Spreadsheet Optimization.
"I'm building this avatar for fun," he reminded himself for the 47th time that day.
"Fun."
"…FUN."
He said it again, out loud, hoping it would start sounding believable.
It didn't.
The entire week had passed in a blur of menus, skill trees, class synergy diagrams, stat calculators, and build planners with tabs named things like:
DarkMage_TheoryVer.3.5_FINAL_FINAL_NO_REALLY_FINAL.xlsxElderlich_Bloodcaster_CurseSynergyDO_NOT_OPEN_THIS_ONE_I_SWEAR
Absolute Sin, world champion of YGGDRASIL, PvP god, slayer of hope and build balance, was getting owned by option paralysis.
You'd think that having over 700 racial classes and 2,000 job classes would be a blessing.
A sandbox of endless potential.
A creative paradise.
You'd be wrong.
It was spreadsheet hell.
When there are only 3 options, it's easy: pick the best one or whatever looks coolest.
When there are 2,700?
Your brain goes into nuclear meltdown trying to optimize for things you didn't even know you cared about.
"This is why fun builds turn into pain," Sin muttered, dragging his cursor between two tabs labeled DemonicCasterPath and Elder Brain Hybrid Theory.
He had built Absolute Sin as a god-tier tank-DPS hybrid.
This time?
He wanted a magic build.
Range-focused. High burst. Preferably with powerful AoE.
Maybe a little battlefield control, some summoning, maybe curses—he wasn't picky.
But he also wasn't willing to make something weak.
Just because it was "for fun" didn't mean it could suck. His pride wouldn't let him.
Sin leaned back in his gaming chair, which was currently surrounded by six open spreadsheets, two monitors, and one questionable energy drink that promised to "awaken the chaos within."
He tapped a finger against his desk.
"Alright. What do we know?"
Key Requirements for the Build:
Magic-Oriented Combat – DPS range build. Burst preferred. No Support Roles – He loved Touch Me but he wasn't about to become someone else's buff bot.Aesthetic: Elderlich Horror – Something unholy and freaky. One glowing bug (Touch Me) was enough. The guild had an image.Power – "Fun build" ≠ "weak build." He wasn't Ulbert, but he still wanted something cracked. Not Useless in PvP – It didn't have to dominate, but he didn't want to get clapped by level 80 newbies either.World Disaster – A stretch goal. Annoying to unlock. Nightmarishly grindy. But it would give him elite-level spells and stat boosts.Race Compatibility – World Disaster had synergy with demonic or calamity-type races. Time to pick.
"Let's go over the top 4 racial candidates again," he sighed, flipping to his comparison sheet.
Candidate Races:
1. Vampire Lord
Pros: Amazing lifesteal, strong dark magic, undead resistance, blood-based AoE.Cons: Weak to light, holy magic. Sin's current main avatar is holy-themed. Basically suicide to fight himself.
2. Demon Overfiend
Pros: Ridiculously high MP pool, insane synergy with curse/summon builds, edgy aesthetic.Cons: Prone to cosmic RNG in World Disaster triggers. Also, 3 out of 5 cosmetic armor options included crotch spikes. Why?
3. Brain Eater (Psionic Horror)
Pros: Nasty control skills, magic reflection passives, nightmare fuel aesthetic.Cons: Physically weaker than average, easily bullied if anti-magic zones are involved. Creepy twitch animations.
4. Mythborne Sovereign(New unlock)
Pros: Jack-of-all-trades racial evolution path. Can branch into Hero, Tyrant, or Traitor.Cons: Too vague. Needs lore. Roleplay-heavy. Also, the "Hero" path came with glowing armor. Nope.
"Touch Me's been enough glowstick for all of us," Sin mumbled, crossing out the Hero option with extra emphasis.
His plan was forming, slowly.
If he went Demon Overfiend → World Disaster → Tyrant Path Mythborne, he could make something…
narratively cursed, mechanically brutal, and aesthetically horrifying.
Something final boss-tier.
Something theatrical.
Something people would remember—until it erased them.
He made another tab.
Started blocking out ability synergies.
Corruption Tree → Curses, debuffs, and denial.Destruction Tree → Pure damage.Command Tree → Limited mind control and army summoning.Cataclysmic Magic → Reserved for World Disaster-exclusive magic like [Twilight Collapse] and [Planet Unmaking].
This build wouldn't be nimble. It wouldn't be fast.
But it would be inevitable.
That's when Ulbert walked in.
Well, logged in.
"Still stuck in spreadsheet hell?" he asked.
"I live here now," Sin said, deadpan.
"Need help with lore? I've got a demonic poetry generator."
"No."
"Backstory ideas?"
"Still no."
"Want to name him Sinister Symphony of the Forgotten God?"
"…Now that's just tempting."
Other clan members trickled in over the next hour.
Bellriver offered a min-max guide for psionic classes.
Tabula Smaragdina argued color theory again.
Peroroncino suggested giving the new avatar a tragic ex-boyfriend who became his sentient weapon.
"Can we not make this a BL fanfic?" Sin begged.
"No promises," Momonga said, straight-faced.
Eventually, Sin closed his eyes.
Took a deep breath.
Then typed something at the top of the sheet:
NEW AVATAR PROJECT:
Name: To Be Announced
Race: Demon Overfiend
Primary Class: Cataclysmic Sorcerer
Secondary Path: Tyrant Sovereign
Endgame Job Goal: World Disaster
Concept: Final Boss. Cinematic. The horror that speaks softly.
Aesthetic: No face. Many eyes. A voice like shattered glass and sermons.
The room quieted for a moment.
"…That's actually sick," someone whispered.
Sin smiled.
"Then let's make it real."
