Chapter 3 - Andrew ( C- 14 leaves home )

All the clones laugh at this bittersweet ending to C-14, leaving the citadel. The doors close as C-14 friends all wave goodbye to him, and he waves goodbye to them. Thank you all for coming to see me one last time. Perhaps a God does exist in this cold, unforgiving universe. I should find a seat if possible. I would like a seat near the window to see the colors of space. I hear that this train color filter technology which is fantastic. C-14 looks around and manages to find a window seat. He walks over there and sits down. He hears the conductor speak over the intercom, " Hello, Everyone, I am the conductor for this ride. My name is CU-1. Please find a seat as the train is about to make a hyper slip space jump to the prime universe. The ride will take approximately two days of travel until we reach the Prime universe station. In the meantime, we will have train attendants passing out food and drinks. If you would like to shower, there is a separate cart for that located in the back. Just press the call assist button. The last thing is that we utilize color window technology on board, so when we reach space, the lights will be dim until we enter another slip space stream. Enjoy your train ride, everyone." C-14 looked around and hoped that nobody sat by him. I hope nobody sits by me. I don't see anyone coming near me, which is a good sign. C-14 poked his head above the seat ,looking around just to see how many people were on this train. Seems like there really isn't anyone on this train. I always appreciate a less crowded place that doesn't make the air too stuffy. Alright, I am pretty sure that there isn't anyone who is going to sit next to me, so I'll put my bookbag in the seat next to me. C-14 opens his bookbag and pulls out his notebook with his two train tickets. Alright, time to cross my Xs and my Os. Okay, the first step of my plan is to leave Universe 490 completely. The second part of my plan is to get on this train and make it to the prime universe station. After that, I hop on the train to the Avalonion system to planet Avalon. I will go try and find my caretaker, or should I call him father? Once I make landfall, I don't really have a plan from there. I guess I'll just wing it from there. Which isn't really a good plan , but it's kinda going to be hard if I don't know where to look. C-14 rubs the end of the notebook paper. He looks at his one-way ticket to Avalon and picks it up, then stuffs it into the notebook page. He then closes it and packs it nicely and neatly back into his backpack. His mind starts to wander as he looks at his TV in front of him, playing A Vengers. Why did my caretaker leave me? Was I too dumb? Too much to take care of? I mean ,I kind of understand him because I am leaving, but I kind of don't. I didn't have a fresh clone to watch over like him. I am leaving because I saw my best friend die. He isn't leaving for that reason. Bro didn't even do it the right way to leave the citadel. You submit your paperwork, receive approval, and then you're free to leave. That's the way it's posed to get done. He didn't do that; he just left. Why did they even go to Avalon, a planet that had a war with the destroyer on it? Just thinking about this makes me nervous because what kind of man was my caretaker, basically my father. When he left, I talked to his friends, and they said, " I don't know, kid ?" Another said, "Look, maybe he was tired of this work he had going on." Most of them said that about him, but this one guy, who knew him the best. If I remember correctly, he said, " A-14 is a great person, son. He didn't leave you because he wanted to, but because he needed to. You have to remember that he is an A-series clone. He was number 14, which wasn't a reassigned one like you. He is the original 14th clone that our great founder, Andrew Copper, created. He isn't from this time, either; he is from the past, but somehow ended up in the present. You want to know how I met him? On a battlefield in Terrain land, fighting against our greatest enemy. He helped us win that battle. Without him, I would be dead. Look, if you ever leave this citadel, I would go to the prime universe. Once you're there, I would then go to a planet called Avalon in the Avalonian system. Now, be careful, because that is where a huge battle takes place with the destroyer. He is dead, but you never know with him. That's all I have for you, kid. Now get going before you're late for school." He always struck me as odd, but he did provide good information. Now, thinking about it more, he didn't even let me talk after I had asked; he just told me to beat it. C-14 lets out a long breath and sinks down into his chair. Back to the topic at hand, what should I say to him? What quest could he be on that was important, where he couldn't have left, maybe when I was all grown up. If I am being honest, though, I am scared that when I see him, he is not going to recognize me. I hope he does … I hope he didn't forget about me because I actually cared about him. I mean, sure, I ended up leaving because of my own reasons. But since I am leaving I mig- . Actually, why do I want to find him now that I am leaving? This whole time, I was leaving because of what happened with B-418, but why is that I made this whole plan just to find this dude that left me when I was 13 years old? Is it because of my programmed bond that I had with him or the rules you have to follow when you're born? Do I feel this way because it's my DNA, or do I feel this way because it's important to me as a person? Ugh, this is making my brain hurt. I feel this way because I want an answer from him. I want to know why he left. I want to know what the hell could be so important to him that he would risk going where the destroyer once was. Now that those thoughts are all out of my head, let me relax my brain and watch this hyper jump that is about to take place. No more thinking for now. All it's doing is making my head hurt and making me super anxious. C-14 leans his head on the cold window as he experiences the fresh air of the AC blowing down on him. His arms crossed one another as his eyes looked out to the start of a slip-space hyper jump. The space around the train starts to wrap, and everything around it becomes a blur. The train conductor comes over the PA system and says, " Okay, we are about to make a hyper slip space jump across 300 universes. Please remain seated until I say it is safe to move around." C-14 hears this and puts on his seatbelt, then makes himself comfortable. He lays his head against the cool window again and leans one arm on top of the other. As he blurs out the window, the stars around the train start to phase. Then a huge boom is heard from the engine, kicking off the hyper slip space jump. The stars around the train begin to stretch, appearing as multiple colorful lines. Then they start to spin and merge together, creating a colorful splash that is turning 2d and 3d at the same time. The colorful splash begins to transform into galaxies, where you can see them being both destroyed and created simultaneously. The galaxies that are being destroyed are being reborn, coming to life again. As the galaxies that are being created are being destroyed, they are turned to ash and ruin. C-14 hears what he assumes to be a final boom. Everything outside the window turns white, then black, then a huge explosion of colors happens. A sea of threads that is ripping through space and time. Each thread combing makes new shades of colors. Then merging into a grey mesh that starts warping into tiny, different shapes. A flash of white light goes off, then all that can be seen are universes in their purest form. Universes are casually passing by the train as they exit hyperslip-space.
