Viola woke slowly, drifting up from a deep, heavy sleep.
For a few moments, she lay still, staring blankly at the ceiling as her mind struggled to catch up with reality.
Then the memories came flooding back all at once—the pain, the voices, the crushing weight in her chest, Elizabeth stepping in, and then… nothing.
Viola sat up and rubbed her eyes, bracing herself for the destruction she expected to see across her bedroom. Instead, her eyes widened in shock.
Everything had been restored to its proper place. The overturned furniture stood upright once more, her scattered belongings were neatly arranged, and even her desk had been cleared of every last bit of clutter. The total chaos of the night before had vanished completely, as if it had never existed at all.
