Chapter 132 - 132

In the midst of unconsciousness, memories of a not so distant past returned in images: the open bodies before her, the demons chasing her, the regret of having stopped seeking power, of having stopped training, after having met the man of her life.

Who, now, found himself heavy in her arms.

Even if she placed him against the ground, joined her hands and pressed his chest, the breathing still remained stagnant and the heart immobile. The tears filled up, the saliva sliding from her mouth to the ground with each word.

Until, then, she looked up from the ice stones and came across countless eyes before her.

The paws of the giant arachnid almost hit her, but for a tiny carelessness.

The husband was pierced.

Becoming one more of the bodies she held in her arms.

One more among the dead.

The sword on her back, she saw herself pull it. The red eyes, the teeth clenching the jaw while holding him with trembling hands.

The spider's fangs opened in a sound that made the entire body shiver and she closed her eyes, covering one of the ears. But, when she reopened them, she saw that the Renkai Creature did not wait for her recovery.

With no choices, she shook her head and launched herself at the demon.

The image paralyzes. Cracking, it deforms into another image.

The city of NeonyRain was no longer covered by the portal. The rain water beat against the glass. Morgana, sitting in a chair, observed the title beside her: Prime Minister.

Papers were in front of her. The dissatisfaction of the people considered her terrible, accusing her of not having protected them during the event that haunted the city. She promised herself that, when possible, she would show the truth she did not want to remember. They deserved to know that the one who commanded them had not abandoned them.

When she arrived at her apartment, wearing a hat and more informal clothes, she stood before a door. But, there was a note.

It mocked her attempt to blend into society and, as punishment, there was a gift.

At that instant, her heart gave a pulsation that seemed it would come out of her mouth. With her lips pressed, she went to the doorknob, opening it.

The scene before her made her kneel. The cat, lying on its own blood, had its flesh devoured by small rats that seemed to have been placed in that place.

She crawled to the animal. The image of the husband returned to her mind mixed with reality. When she held him, she protected him against her chest, with the sob beginning to come out of her mouth.

Before the animal's blood, her mind concluded: some people would need to die so that she would not lose herself to sadness.

The next day, she hired a man who, even knowing the bad reputation that the Prime Minister had received, wanted to know her reasons, because it was still not fair to use such power for her own benefit. The only answer she would give him was:

"I do not want justice. I want death."

And, when she discovered the location, she herself headed to the place.

She did not use blades, much less other people.

She used her own hands.

To make the man regret what he did.

And there was no regret.

Because death does not allow such thought.

Then, the remembered reality distorts again.

"Morgana... do not try to move... rest."

She opened her eyes, the young man before her held her shoulders, pressing her against an ice wall. Morgana, coughing internally, looked at Gyne with a short smile.

"Right. Take care too, child."

"... From what I see, you have already improved quite fast."

"Sorry if I underestimated the young one... by the way, where are they?"

"My sister, Carlos and that woman? They are fighting. They asked me to protect her."

"Do that well then."

In the battle, Aurora dodged the countless ammunition originating from the eagle's wings. She observed fighter planes descending from inside the structure. The mechanical eyes saw that, in some, there were bombs in their entire compartments, so they chased her much more.

"Is that what you want to use your soldiers for, to sacrifice them?"

She looked at Rito, who widened his eyes when he heard her on the headphones. The wheelchair had escaped his control, breaking. So, he crawled on a staff above his head, supporting himself before speaking, with a hoarse voice and a drop of blood running down his face.

"They chose to protect their homeland and their world. There is no regret in their hearts."

She looked at the men who commanded the machine, unconscious against the control panel. She moved to the chair, securing herself in it and expelling the men.

"And, even if I die, I will not regret having tried to make the world a better place."

"You did not try..."

She extended her hand, with the dark energy coming out of her hand.

"If you ever tried, you sought so much the perfect moment that you never did it."

She fired. As the dark matter advanced toward the machine, she quickly extended her wings and launched a gust of wind, dissolving it and throwing Aurora far away. The force of the movements made her rise above the surface, flying through the air.

Aurora's body hit a building. Meanwhile, Carolina flew with wooden wings, tearing the Renkai Creatures through the skies. Carlos observed the Inferius Complex, in a distant area of Libretãnhya, now without military forces, lose its stability and begin to grow. With giant humanoid demons touching the limit of the portal and forcing it to open even more. He swallowed hard before advancing toward it, the speed of his steps making him climb the buildings and jump between them.

Rito saw the situation. He clenched his fists, thinking he would be protecting the enemy, but, also, he could protect the city. So, distancing himself from the city, he took an impulse with his wings and launched himself toward the portal.

Carlos, one step before entering, saw the eagle fly like an asteroid. Instinctively, his arms rose to the level of his head and his eyes closed.

But, in the last second, he was held by Aurora who, with the impact of the machine against the Inferius Complex, ended up being thrown far away with him, again. Carolina covered her ears, but was also thrown. And Gyne and Morgana felt the rumble from afar, with the ice barrier breaking in front of them and the smoke swallowing them.

For a distance of kilometers...

Libretãnhya became invisible.
