Chloe's POV
My name is Chloe Hawkins.
Most people would think I was dead.
But I was very much alive.
For the longest time, I had lived like a ghost. Hidden from the world. Hidden from cameras. Hidden from the people who once knew my name.
Not because I wanted to.
Because I had to.
It was the only way to protect the only family I had left.
My twin sister, Zoe.
Funny how life worked. The whole world mourned me while I was still breathing. They buried my name. Held funerals. Cried over a body that never truly died.
And I let them.
Because sometimes survival demanded cruelty.
Even self-cruelty.
A long time ago, on one horrible night, our home was robbed.
Or at least… that was what the newspapers called it.
A robbery.
Such a simple word for the complete destruction of two lives.
Our parents were shot in cold blood. Killed right in front of us.
But that wasn't the only thing stolen that night.
Something else died too.
Me.
