"How funny. You think you can just step in here?" The nurse sauntered closer, the door closing behind her. She didn't look back because one of her patients pulled a werewolf behind him, as if to protect it from her. Her smile deepened. She said, "Wise."
Eugene took a deep breath and held out a hand. "No need to hurt him. He'll leave soon. He just wants to check up on us."
The nurse stopped walking and chuckled. "Sorry, Mr Roth. We have rules in this hospital. If someone disrespects it, we have to throw them out. Don't worry. It won't hurt."
"I will take him home." Irving tightened his hold on Eugene. His round, docile eyes almost morphed their shape as they grew sharper. The reawakened Alpha slowly summoned his wolf features as if to warn the nurse from getting close.
