Chapter 256 - Where is the Student Council President? Why haven't I seen her?
In DxD, part of a magic system was designed not for combat, but for mundane daily applications.
However, even though the supernatural creatures possessed these conveniences, they often chose to do housework manually.
After all, even they wanted to experience an ordinary, grounded life. Using magic to instantly complete all chores robbed a home of its breath of life.
Even back in Roy's villa in Kuoh, magic wasn't used for absolutely everything.
However, Roy wasn't here at the orphanage to experience the breath of life. Kanata had drafted him as free labor. Therefore, a quick fix was best.
Seeing the massive, pale emerald magic circle suddenly cover the ceiling, the three council members were astonished and bewildered.
A moment later, the magic circle vanished.
"Well, the room is clean," Roy announced to the trio.
Utakata Misogi: "???"
Renren Tomaru: "???"
Kanata Totokubara: "???"
The three of them had invisible question marks floating above their heads. They didn't quite understand what Roy had just done, but the gorgeous, complex magic circle had certainly caught their attention.
Then, Renren noticed a perfectly compressed pile of dust and garbage stacked neatly in the corner. Her eyes widened. "Wait... did you just use a Noble Art to clean the room?!"
She remembered very clearly that, just a moment ago, that corner had been filthy.
"Mm," Roy nodded with a smile. "It's a cleaning magic."
"That's so cool!" Renren's eyes lit up.
Even the usually composed Kanata felt her polite facade slip, fighting the urge to complain aloud. He made such a huge commotion, summoning a gorgeous, high tier magic circle... just to sweep the floor? Talk about overkill.
Utakata's expression was equally complicated. While Blazers had countless strange and unique abilities, this was the first time he had ever seen a Noble Art dedicated to housekeeping.
After all, the fundamental purpose of a Blazer's magic was combat and physical enhancement.
"Well, you just made our jobs a lot easier," Utakata quickly recovered, looking at Roy with genuine gratitude.
"It's just a little trick I developed. Is there anything else that needs cleaning?" Roy asked nonchalantly.
"Kanata, you really brought us a super helper! We can finish the orphanage's sanitation all at once!" Renren cheered.
"Yes... I certainly didn't expect this," the corner of Kanata's mouth twitched. She had brought Roy here to make things slightly difficult for him as a mild punishment.
Who knew he had a cheat code for chores?
"Thank you so much, Roy," Utakata added. "There are still a few rooms left. What was originally a multi day job can actually be finished today with your help."
Excited, Renren ran up, enthusiastically grabbed Roy's arm, and started pulling him toward the other rooms.
"Hey, Roy, do you want to join the Student Council?" Renren asked eagerly. "We are desperately short on manpower!"
"I'll pass. I just enrolled, and my main focus is preparing for the Seven Star Sword Art Festival. I don't think I'll have the free time to participate in council duties," Roy shook his head and refused.
He saw right through her. She just wanted to draft his cleaning magic to handle their administrative chores.
"Oh, what a pity," Renren looked genuinely disappointed. If Roy joined, they would save so much time.
"Are you sure you won't reconsider?" Renren lowered her voice, whispering conspiratorially. "I know your real goal. Joining the Student Council will give you a chance to get close to her, and I'll even assist you!"
As she spoke, she winked at Roy and secretly glanced back at Kanata. Her implication was painfully obvious.
"What?" Roy pretended to be confused and shook his head. "I really have no interest in joining."
While the wealthy girl was certainly attractive, Roy preferred to pursue his interests on his own terms.
Plus, the Hagun Student Council actually handled a massive amount of school management. Roy had no desire to waste his time buried in paperwork.
"It's a shame..." Renren sighed.
"Your underlying motives are way too obvious, Renren. Roy certainly won't be fooled by that," Utakata said with a helpless smile.
"Eh? Was I that obvious?" Renren stuck her tongue out embarrassedly.
"However, if you ever need help with anything in the future, you can come to me. As long as I have the time, I definitely won't refuse," Roy offered smoothly.
Whether he actually helped or not was a separate matter, but giving a verbal guarantee was easy.
As someone looking to build a network with the beautiful girls of this world, this basic level of charm was standard operating procedure.
"I knew you were a good guy!" Renren laughed happily, hugging Roy's arm even tighter.
Her flat, washboard-like chest rubbed against his arm enthusiastically.
Roy: "..."
He thought about pulling away, but ultimately decided to just let it slide.
Over the next ten minutes, guided by the three council members, Roy used his magic to instantly clean the remaining areas of the orphanage.
"That was a huge help! Thank you again, Roy," Utakata smiled with relief as they finished the final room.
"By the way, where is the Student Council President? Why haven't I seen her?" Roy asked curiously.
His main reason for cooperating was to collect Dimensional Points from Touka Todou. However, apart from the three in front of him, the only other council member he had seen was the tall, muscular Ikazuchi Saijou, who was outside helping the orphanage staff take care of the children. Touka was nowhere to be found.
"You mean Touka? She went out to buy groceries with the orphanage director," Utakata checked the time on his phone. "If my math is right, she should be back any minute now."
