"She's still in the hospital, hasn't returned," Lady Hyde said softly, "Brandan, your father has been there with her. You better wait for him..."
Brandan Hyde hung up the phone, expressionless.
Turning around, he kicked the office chair hard, flipping it onto the floor, and then hurriedly left the office with his phone.
On the way to the hospital, Brandan received a call from Iris Harris.
Iris didn't come to accompany him at work today because she had her period. Although she didn't suffer from cramps, on the first day she always felt sore and uncomfortable, and Brandan couldn't bear asking her to stay in the office with him.
"Iris, missing me?"
He teased with a hint of mischief, yet contrasting his joking tone was his still grave expression.
Iris seemed to be sunbathing; her lazy, soft voice streamed through the phone, "I want to eat crepes, Brandan."
"Sure," he replied tenderly, "I'll buy some for you when I get back."
