In the blink of an eye, it was autumn.
After returning from a party, Brandan caught a cold and couldn't stop sneezing.
The most infuriating thing was, he refused to take cold medicine.
He confidently claimed that a cold has a cycle and that he would be fine after toughing it out.
Then he began to run a fever.
Iris Harris took the thermometer from under his arm, saw the temperature, and sneered, "Wow, thirty-nine and a half degrees! A few more degrees and you might burn yourself into an idiot!"
Her tone was extremely sarcastic.
Brandan lay weakly on the bed, reaching out to her: "Honey, I'm dizzy..."
Iris glared at him. Seeing his pale face flushed with two sickly red patches and his lips cracked and peeling, she couldn't help but feel distressed. She grabbed the hand he had reached out and held it in hers to warm it up. She said, "I'll go get some fever medicine from the housekeeper."
Brandan held onto her hand: "Stay with me."
