"Daddy, when I grow up, I can help you take care of Mommy."
Asher Land's movements as he dressed Alexander stiffened momentarily, his expression somewhat heavy.
"Daddy, what's wrong?" Alexander asked, puzzled, his head lowered, "Did I... say something wrong?"
"No." He replied softly, dispelling Alexander's doubt, "I'm glad you think that way. In the future, we'll take care of her together."
"Okay." Alexander nodded eagerly, showing his agreement with Asher.
After dressing Alexander and tidying up the tent, Asher walked with Alexander towards the car.
"Mommy, are you alright?" Alexander asked, looking towards Sophie Smith with some concern as soon as he got in the car.
"I'm fine, I'm sorry, Alexander, for making you worry."
"Daddy was really worried, waking up early to find you were missing..."
The more Alexander spoke, the more embarrassed Sophie became, realizing that she had inadvertently worried both the big and small ones.
