Then came the cold. A biting, merciless cold that froze everything it touched. He survived that too.

But luck has limits. When the rains came...they didn't stop.
The water rose rapidly, swallowing everything in its path.
Blane was caught in it. The current dragged him violently, the cold water choking his lungs as he struggled to stay afloat.
'I… can't…' his mind screamed as he fought to swim.
Then...he saw it, a place untouched by the flood. Safe. Stable. Hope.
Summoning the last of his strength, he swam toward it. But fate twisted cruelly.
