Chapter 431 - Chapter 435: Descent and Challenge

Chapter 435: Descent and Challenge

For Whis, the distance of an entire galaxy was nothing more than a single instant of travel.

The moment Uchiha Dali sensed the God ki of Whis and the God of Destruction, Beerus, reaching the Milky Way, they had already arrived before his eyes.

The two descended gracefully from the heavens—elegant and poised.

Recognizing the uninvited guests immediately, Uchiha Dali's expression tightened.

However, Goku, Vegeta, and the others had no idea who these two were. At this moment, their eyes were fixed on them, scrutinizing every move.

"Those fellows over there… their gazes are rather impolite."

Beerus stepped out from behind Whis, his cold eyes sweeping directly toward Vegeta and the others.

Hearing this, the group instantly went on guard, a deep sense of wariness rising within them.

"But… you're the surviving Saiyans, aren't you?"

"That's right, Lord Beerus. They're the surviving Saiyans," Whis replied from the side.

Beerus gave him a sidelong glance, displeased that Whis had answered in their place.

Still, he didn't lash out. Instead, he stared at Vegeta for a moment and said, "You do look quite a bit like King Vegeta. So, you must be the Saiyan prince."

"Y-You… who are you…?"

Realizing the stranger knew who he was, Vegeta swallowed hard before asking.

Beerus ignored him, turning his gaze toward Uchiha Dali instead.

Among those present, this man's ki was the strongest—so strong, in fact, that even Beerus felt a faint sense of unease.

Uchiha Dali, too, was studying Beerus and Whis.

He hadn't been entirely sure what period this was, but now he understood.

With Beerus and Whis appearing on Earth, this was clearly the Dragon Ball Super era.

"Both Beerus and Whis have terrifyingly powerful auras… nothing like those of Shimai and the others."

"That's pure destruction—utter annihilation itself," Dali assessed inwardly.

In terms of ki, Beerus felt slightly weaker than him, but Whis's presence was completely unfathomable.

Beerus merely cast Dali a brief glance, then lost interest, turning his attention back to Vegeta and the rest.

"Which one of you is the Super Saiyan God?" he asked.

"Super Saiyan God?" Goku widened his eyes.

"Oh? You know about it?" Beerus immediately turned to him.

"I only know about Super Saiyans, not any kind of god…" Goku said honestly after a brief moment of thought.

Beerus's expression showed displeasure at his naive tone, but hearing such an answer, he didn't lose his temper—only looked a bit disappointed.

Then he turned to Vegeta.

Swallowing nervously, Vegeta said, "I've never heard of any Super Saiyan God either."

The others nodded in agreement.

"I see… so none of you know," Beerus murmured, glancing again at Uchiha Dali before walking up to Goku.

"I've heard you were the one who defeated Frieza. Is that true?"

"Frieza? Yeah, I did beat him… but that was a long time ago."

As Goku spoke, he stared at Beerus curiously.

Hearing that, Beerus's interest was piqued—like a mischievous cat. He began circling Goku, looking him over, poking at his chest muscles, even lifting his arm to examine his build.

After a brief inspection, Beerus concluded, "Judging from your current state, it doesn't seem possible that you could've done such a thing."

"You're one of those Saiyans who can transform, aren't you? You must have done it after turning into a Super Saiyan?"

Goku blinked, then nodded earnestly.

The others watched the cat-like humanoid in astonishment.

"So, it seems you truly know nothing about that so-called god," Beerus said, losing interest and starting to walk back.

At that moment, Goku asked, "By the way, who exactly are you?"

Whis replied for him, "This is Lord Beerus, the God of Destruction."

"The God of Destruction… Beerus?" Vegeta's eyes widened slightly. "That name… it sounds familiar…"

Just then, a voice echoed in everyone's minds.

"Hello, everyone. I'm King Kai."

Hearing this, they all exchanged stunned looks.

Uchiha Dali, however, wore an amused smile.

Goku spoke in his mind, "Lord King Kai, what's going on?"

"I need to tell you about Lord Beerus. You must listen carefully. Whatever you do, don't anger him—otherwise Earth will be completely destroyed…"

As King Kai's explanation went on, everyone finally understood who Beerus truly was.

Their expressions turned wary—Vegeta's included, despite his usual pride.

Only Goku seemed excited rather than afraid.

Beerus, however, had completely lost interest in them.

"Lord Beerus, it seems this whole Super Saiyan God business was nothing but a myth. There can't possibly be anyone in this universe capable of matching you. Let's head back," Whis suggested.

"But the Oracle Fish said otherwise…" Beerus muttered reluctantly, casting another glance at Uchiha Dali.

"Forget it. It looks like they really don't know."

"Come on, Whis. Let's go."

He was about to leave when—

"Wait, Lord Beerus!"

"Hm?"

"I heard you're incredibly strong. I'd like to experience your power for myself."

This voice came from Goku.

Having recently been defeated and humbled by Uchiha Dali, Goku's curiosity burned stronger than ever. If even he had spoken highly of Beerus, then this god must truly be something extraordinary.

"Oh? You wish to challenge me?"

Beerus looked at him with amused surprise, as though he'd just heard a joke.

At that point, Uchiha Dali spoke. "You can't beat him. Don't waste your effort."

Everyone's gaze immediately turned toward Dali—including Beerus and Whis.

They studied him briefly but said nothing, their attention returning to Goku.

"I know Lord Beerus must be incredibly powerful—just like you said," Goku admitted, rubbing the back of his head with an apologetic smile. "But I still can't help wanting to try. I hope you won't turn me down."

"In all my billions of years of life, I've never heard something quite so amusing," Beerus said with a chuckle.

"Since you're so eager to challenge me, I'll let you witness the power of a God of Destruction."

He turned fully toward Goku and crooked a finger at him. "Go ahead—make your move."

He, too, wanted to see whether this Saiyan—who could transform and had once defeated Frieza—might be the fabled Super Saiyan God, or if there was some hidden connection between the two.
