Leonard's House.

Adam and the crew were about to head out.

"Wait! You haven't seen my paper yet!" Michael chased after them, clutching his latest masterpiece—a work that earned high praise from Harvard Law profs. He wanted Adam's take.

"Could you grab me a pen?" Adam asked Leonard with a smile, glancing at Michael's stubborn expression.

"Be right back!" Leonard darted off.

Adam took Michael's paper and flipped through it quickly.

"Here!" Leonard returned, handing over the pen.

Adam held it up, looking at Michael. "Mind if I jot down some notes?"

"Heh, go ahead!" Michael smirked, half-laughing, half-annoyed. Who do you think you are? Showing off in front of Peggy was one thing, but a doctor critiquing a Harvard Law genius, a future legal star? Keep flexing, buddy—let's see how I smack you down in front of her later.

Adam grinned and started scribbling notes. When he handed it back, he said, "You should take a page from Rachel and Leonard. Sure, physics and biology might be tough, but how about chemistry? Those are universal natural sciences—stuff that actually pushes humanity forward. Law? It's just word games, twisting black into white. A rich man's toy."

He glanced at Leonard. "How'd Beverly ever okay him studying law? Weren't he and Rachel supposed to be her shining success stories?"

"…" Leonard froze. He'd never thought about it, but now it hit him like a ton of bricks. He'd always seen himself as the family screw-up, with his siblings as the golden kids. He'd dreamed of getting the praise they did from their mom. Rachel? Untouchable. But Michael? Deep down, Leonard had a hunch he wasn't that far behind. Too insecure to dwell on it, though. Now, Adam's words flipped a switch.

Wait a sec! Michael seemed impressive, but law wasn't some brain-busting, world-changing natural science. Their mom hated humanities and social sciences—Dad's anthropology degree was proof! So, by age or academic merit, Leonard should rank below Rachel, not dead last. He studied physics, for crying out loud—second only to math on the science prestige ladder! How'd he get outshone by law? Unfair! He should be Mom's darling! Poor Leonard's eyes welled up with self-pity. 😢

Michael's face flushed red with anger. He opened his mouth to snap back, but then his eyes caught Adam's notes. He froze. Flipping through them, his jaw dropped, and his face drained from red to white. The comments weren't random—they hit the bullseye. This doctor knew law, and not just a little. We're talking skyscraper-level expertise! Paired with Adam's jab, it crushed him. Was his proudest achievement just a fallback because he couldn't hack the harder sciences like math, physics, or biology?

Awkward silence settled in.

Adam, still smiling, left with Peggy.

Back home, Leonard called.

"It's because of Aunt Diane," he said, voice tangled with emotion. "Mom's identical twin. New York's top female defense attorney—they're like clones. Mom scoffs at humanities, but she adores her sister. That soft spot extends to law. So Michael studying it? She's cool with it. No academic red flags, plus he's killing it at Harvard Law with a bright future—maybe a judge or even president! Me? I do physics, but I'm not the best…"

"Don't sell yourself short," Adam soothed. "Rachel might be a top biologist, Michael could hit judge or president, but you've got a bright future too!"

"How?" Leonard laughed bitterly. "I know my limits. Theoretical physics—second only to math in prestige? My brain can't handle it. I like experimental physics, the hands-on stuff. To Mom, if it's not groundbreaking, it's nothing. Experimental's just a step above Dad's anthropology, but not by much. I'll never be her golden boy."

"…" Adam was stumped. How do you even cheer this up? Tell him even at 60, if Michael flops as a judge or president, he still won't outshine him in Mom's eyes? Want to be her fave? Re-roll your next life and pick a different womb, 'cause this one's a lost cause! 😂 Luckily, Adam had a trump card.

"Want a lightsaber signed by Master Yoda?" he asked.

"Wha~t~!" Leonard stammered, voice shaking. All his gloom vanished.

"Didn't hear me? Oh well," Adam teased.

"I heard! I heard! I want it! I want it!" Leonard shouted.

"I was gonna give you one when you graduate your PhD—signed 'To Master Leonard Hofstadter from Master Yoda,'" Adam said with a laugh. "But after the hug machine loss and tonight's pity party, I'll hook you up early."

"Oh, my lord!" Leonard yelped. Heavy breathing crackled through the phone—he was hitting his asthma inhaler, clearly overwhelmed.

"You holding up okay?" Adam teased. "Maybe I should wait 'til graduation."

"NO!!!" Leonard bellowed. "I need it now! A proper Jedi doesn't go without a lightsaber!"

"Alright, alright," Adam chuckled. "You'll get it. Merry Christmas, Leonard!"

"This Christmas? I'm the happiest guy alive!" Leonard said, nearly crying. "Thanks, Adam!"

"Don't say 'happiest' so fast," Adam said with a sly grin. "What if you get a girlfriend someday and spend Christmas with her? You gonna tell her the lightsaber Christmas topped it? Or if it's her versus a Yoda-signed Jedi lightsaber—which you picking?"

"…" Leonard stalled, caught in an endless spiral of indecision.

"Hahaha!" Adam hung up, laughing.

Ask Sheldon? One answer, no hesitation. Ask Leonard? Pure chaos. A Schrödinger's choice—you'd never know 'til the last second! 😄
