Chapter 214 - #214

In the heart of the Demon Desert, Metroplex's colossal fist descended with the weight of a falling mountain. The sheer kinetic force of the strike spawned a howling hurricane, blotting out the sun and plunging the battlefield into an apocalyptic twilight.

The desert itself fractured, sending tons of gravel and sand flying for miles. It was a display of absolute, unadulterated power.

One punch to shatter them all.

Against a mechanical god of this scale, ninety-nine percent of the three-hundred-thousand-strong Allied Shinobi Forces were reduced to helpless extras. Confrontation simply wasn't an option.

Survival was the only victory. The massive army broke rank and fled in unison, scattering like loose sand caught in a violent gale.

Inside Sunagakure's walls, the Sand shinobi broke into relieved laughter. The suffocating dread of the allied siege vanished in an instant.

Deep inside Metroplex's command center—situated directly behind its glowing optical sensors—Orochimaru stared at the 360-degree panoramic screens. His serpentine eyes gleamed with manic fascination.

"Incredible, my lord," Orochimaru hissed. "This is truly the ultimate weapon."

Mufasa smirked, though he casually waved off the praise. "How is this an ultimate weapon? Metroplex is intermediate, at best."

The command center went dead silent as the brilliant minds of Sunagakure stared at their Kazekage in utter disbelief.

"Right now, it's just a walking fortress," Mufasa explained. "Once we make it flight-capable and space-faring, it'll reach the advanced tier."

He leaned back in his chair. "If we can get it to crack light-speed, then maybe we can call it a top-tier weapon."

The researchers exchanged dumbfounded looks. None of them fully grasped the concepts, but it sounded terrifyingly profound.

Still, Mufasa wasn't entirely satisfied.

'The true measure of a civilization boils down to two things: boiling water and throwing stones,' Mufasa mused internally. 'Acquiring energy, and expelling it.'

He had successfully fast-tracked the shinobi world to match the technological milestones of his old home. They were tapping into oil, wind, solar, and even the erratic pulses of the Dragon Veins.

But the energy bottleneck remained.

Metroplex could run for half a month on standby, but in high-intensity combat, a severe battery drain forced an automatic defensive recharge.

'We need more juice,' Mufasa thought. 'I could capture tens of thousands of enemy shinobi and plug them into jars like human batteries.'

He immediately dismissed the idea. Shinobi were volatile. Lock them in vats, and they'd probably self-destruct just to spite him.

'Maybe an Otsutsuki chakra fruit is the answer,' he pondered. 'I wonder what it tastes like? Apple? Orange? ...Shit?'

'Note to self: book a flight to the moon and ask Kaguya.'

Outside, the battlefield was descending into utter madness. The bravest shinobi tried to stand their ground, but courage meant nothing against a fist the size of a city.

Without Kage-level strength, they weren't even qualified to step onto the battlefield.

"Kakashi!" Tsunade roared over the shrieking winds. "Organize a full retreat immediately!"

She rolled up her sleeves, chakra flaring around her fists. "Jiraiya, we're going in!"

Kakashi looked up at the metal sky falling toward them. He swiftly bit his thumb and slammed it against the earth.

"Summoning Jutsu!"

A pack of ninja hounds appeared in a cloud of smoke.

"Everyone, spread out and act as communication relays," Kakashi ordered. "We need to get the Konoha forces out of here."

He glanced over at his team. "Shikamaru! Help coordinate the evacuation routes! And Sakura, drag Naruto out of here!"

Naruto stood completely frozen, his jaw slack as he stared up at the descending titan.

"It's... it's so huge," Naruto whispered. "Kurama looks like a little puppy compared to that thing."

Deep within his seal, the Nine-Tails snarled. 'Who are you calling a puppy?! That monstrosity isn't even organic, you idiot!'

A profound sadness washed over Naruto. 'Sasuke must be standing up there,' he realized, his fists trembling.

'Is the gap between us really this wide now?'

His words and ideals were utterly useless against a mountain of steel. With no other choice, he let Sakura drag him back with the retreating forces.

As the rank-and-file scattered, the legendary figures of the ninja world stepped up.

Hashirama Senju had abandoned his useless wooden statue. Instead, he slammed his palms into the earth, using Deep Forest Emergence to sprout towering, ancient trees.

The massive trunks coiled together, forming a desperate barricade to delay the crushing fist.

Tobirama stood right behind him, placing a hand on his brother's back to act as a living chakra battery.

Minato Namikaze watched the metallic monolith descend, his brilliant tactical mind calculating the odds.

'Even if I use the Flying Raijin and a Rasengan, it won't even scratch the paint,' Minato concluded grimly.

Absolute speed was useless when you couldn't pierce the enemy's armor. Accepting reality, Minato rushed over and slapped his hand onto Hashirama's shoulder, funneling his chakra into the wood construct.

Nearby, Hiruzen Sarutobi bit his thumb and slammed it into the dirt. "Summoning Jutsu!"

Enma, the Monkey King, materialized in a puff of smoke.

Hiruzen pointed up. "Enma! Transform into the Adamantine Staff! We need to smash that thing!"

Enma tilted his head back, taking in the sheer scale of the descending fist. A primal, instinctual terror gripped the summon.

"Uh... actually, Hiruzen, I just remembered I have somewhere else to be," Enma muttered, rolling his eyes.

With a puff of smoke, the Monkey King vanished, abandoning the battlefield entirely.

Hiruzen stood frozen, a deep melancholy washing over him. 'You spineless old ape.'

"Hiruzen! Stop standing around like an idiot and get over here!" Tobirama barked.

Sighing, the Third Hokage jogged over to join the human battery chain.

Farther down the line, Ishikawa, the First Tsuchikage, raised colossal stone spires from the earth to brace against the fist.

High in the air, Mu and Onoki hovered directly under the massive knuckles, their palms pressed flat against the cold steel.

"Earth Release: Super Light-Weight Rock Jutsu!" the two Tsuchikage roared in unison.

They burned through their reserves to strip the titan of its apocalyptic mass. Using Dust Release would have been pointless; the energy required to dismantle a million-ton machine would drain them instantly.

Against all odds, the combined, desperate efforts of the Kages were working. The descent of the giant fist began to visibly slow.

Back inside Metroplex, Gaara monitored the tactical readouts on the screen.

"Lord Kazekage," Gaara reported, his voice steady. "The structural weight of the right fist has been reduced by twenty-five percent. Kinetic velocity is dropping."

He looked back toward the command chair. "Shall I authorize the Right Fist Squadron to execute a ninjutsu counter-bombardment?"

The internal structure of Metroplex was divided into specialized sectors—power engines, artillery, limbs—staffed by dedicated shinobi teams who lived and worked within the chassis like sailors on a battleship.

Mufasa glanced at the glowing monitors, watching the legendary Kages sweat and bleed just to slow his punch. He chuckled.

"Stand down, Gaara. Maintain defensive protocols only. No need to counterattack."

He leaned back in his chair. "Let them have a little hope. Let them play a while longer."

Outside, the allied forces genuinely believed the tide was turning.

The apocalyptic fist was slowing down. To them, it seemed the machine was just a massive, sluggish hunk of iron.

Gengetsu Hozuki, the Second Mizukage, felt his combat-fanatic blood boil. He had never fought a monster of this scale before.

"My turn!" Gengetsu laughed maniacally, flying up toward the mecha's colossal wrist joint.

He clapped his hands together. "Steaming Danger Tyranny!"

He instantly expelled ten of his signature clone constructs. The water-and-oil anomalies latched onto the exposed joints of the titan.

The more the clones moved, the more their internal water boiled, triggering massive steam explosions that shrank the clones only for the cycle to repeat.

"Enjoy my infinite explosions!" Gengetsu cackled.

The ten clones detonated simultaneously. The resulting blast was earth-shattering, unleashing a massive, superheated cloud of water vapor that completely engulfed Metroplex's wrist.

Inside the Right Arm Sector, alarms chimed softly.

"Thermal impact detected on the exterior hull," an operative reported.

"Analysis: high-temperature water vapor. Threat level: negligible."

"Kinetic vibrations are already being converted into electrical energy by the outer shell," another shinobi noted.

The squad captain adjusted his headset. "Command protocol suggests absorbing the high-temperature water into the internal reservoirs."

After all, Sunagakure shinobi were born in the desert. They knew better than to waste perfectly good water.

Once the heat was filtered out, it would be perfect for the sector's bathing and plumbing systems.

"Action: Absorb!" the captain ordered.

The Right Arm Squadron smoothly activated the external intake valves, happily vacuuming up the Mizukage's ultimate attack like a complimentary gift from nature.
