The [Planetary Rasengan] shifted steadily in his hands. The structure, the orbits, the velocity — everything was perfect.
Now it was a matter of giving it launching speed, which was not difficult for Ryu, who could raise his physical strength for an instantaneous burst of power.
Ryu activated [Chakra Engine - Gear Second].
The familiar pressure hit his cardiovascular system immediately—pulse spiking, blood moving faster, chakra output stepping up to match. It was uncomfortable, but manageable. It was less destabilising than the first time. His body had begun to learn the rhythm of it, even if learning still meant cost.
Ryu felt the whole weight of the construct—the nucleus pulling the orbitals into line, each satellite moving in its separate arc without ever crossing another.
Then Ryu took his stance and threw the [Planetary Rasengan] for the very first time.
The attack moved in a straight line, fast, but the surrounding satellite Rasengans seemed to follow helical paths. As it travelled, the outer satellites began to respond. The centripetal force of attraction and repulsion between the core Rasengan and each orbital Rasengan was equal and stable, and it held the structure together, but being away from Ryu destabilised it.
It began absorbing the flow and chakra from the surroundings and compressed it. As the whole construct moved through space, the nearest satellites felt the pull first. The other orbits tightened. Then they shrank. Then they collapsed inward. One by one.
Each satellite that struck the nucleus transferred its compressed chakra directly to the centre. The core shrank for half a second with each impact—dense, almost still—before it expanded. More chakra resulted in greater mass, increased speed, and more compressed destruction.
The colour shifted as the compression increased. From the golden-blue of a normal Rasengan structure toward something brighter, edging toward white at the very centre.
By the time the last satellite folded in, the nucleus had become something else entirely. It was not just bigger. It was denser, brighter, and far more violent.
From across the sealed space, the Nine-Tailed Fox watched the construct shift and did not wait. It formed a massive Bijuu Dama within a few seconds and launched it before Ryu's attack reached the middle of the battlefield. The two attacks met with a concussive force that had a single point of origin but rolled outward in every direction.
Ryu had already placed his barriers, but they were not flat walls. He had arranged three interlocking chakra planes at precise angles, the way a ship's prow split water rather than stopping it. The force hit the outermost angled plane and deflected. The secondary plane caught what remained. The third redirected the rest upward and away from his body entirely. The impact broke the first layer of the barrier as soon as the shockwave hit, but the remaining shields held on.
The wind that reached him was still severe. It hit his clothes and his face and pushed against his posture, and he did not move.
Inside the sealed space, Minato said nothing for a moment.
"He is not trying to stop it," Minato said finally. "He is redirecting it."
Kushina watched the strain in Ryu's body. "And it is still coming back on him."
Minato nodded once. He had seen it too.
Outside the seal, the people on the training ground did not understand what was happening. They only saw the light.
The chains connecting Ryu and Naruto pulsed with a rapid, chasing rhythm, each link lighting and fading like current moving through a wire. The golden light coming from Ryu's position rose quickly, going past amber, gold, and the point where anyone in the compound could look at it without any problems.
Ryu was now shining too brightly. Most of them stopped looking and protected their eyes.
Akihiro turned his face away not because of light he could not see, but because of weight. His newly developed raw chakra senses had not yet been shaped into anything reliable, and they registered the output as something physical. It pressed down on him from the direction of Naruto and Ryu. Dense, concentrated, and suffocating.
All across the training ground, the ambient temperature was rising; Kaori could feel the heat baking her face. She stepped in front of Akihiro, Jiyuu, Yasashii, Kaia, Rina, and Souji, slapping her palm against a Fuinjutsu tag to channel her chakra into the [ReflexGuard] seal. The interlocking barrier planes snapped into position around the group, angled to intercept the radiant heat and redirect it upward. It held.
Mukai was already watching.
He activated his Byakugan the moment the light became unmanageable, keeping the eye hidden under his arm so that no one nearby would notice. What he saw through his chakra sight was not the same as what the rest of the compound saw.
He saw Ryu's chakra pathways. He saw the golden energy running through them at a density that he had never witnessed before. And he saw Ryu handle the unreal quality of that chakra by moving it through its paths. And the flow rate was also abnormal even before the amount reached the absurd heights.
He quickly understood the source of the chakra. Whatever Ryu was processing through his system was absolutely derived from the Fox. "So he is a compatible host for a tailed beast. And that dangerous flow must be that doping jutsu."
Inside the seal, Ryu's remaining barriers were now starting to break.
They had held through the initial clash. Then the accumulated force found the weak point, and the structure gave way. The resulting blast of displaced wind hit Ryu at close range.
Ryu resisted it.
"I made a bet with the fox," Ryu thought, bracing through the impact. "If I hold my ground, he keeps his word. Naruto will have one thing less to worry about."
The pain was real. His chakra network was already straining under Gear Second's demands, and the mechanical stress of the failed barriers added to it sharply.
But he needed to resist and hold his position. Ryu activated [Chakra Engine - Gear Third] for the first time in active battle.
- Warning: Chakra Network strain critical.
- Node micro-fractures detected.
- Vein wall degradation initiated.
The golden constructs around him began to vibrate—the ones that had broken, the ones still intact, and every fragment of ambient energy he had built and spent during this fight did not fade. They held for a little longer, scattered through the sealed space like embers waiting for a draft.
The Nine-Tailed Fox could not see Ryu. The collision filled the space between them. What it could do was sense.
It had been sensing the attack since the first satellite collapsed into the nucleus.
The fox identified the components of the [Planetary Rasengan].
The Fox thought, "This jutsu contained the boy's own chakra and that brat Naruto's chakra, but most of it was my own."
The Fox had not shown it, but it felt it and understood Ryu had been absorbing his chakra.
On the other side of the collision, Ryu raised both hands against the blasting wind. He separated them slowly and the space between his palms filled with a Rasenshuriken—smaller than the full variant, its spin deliberately opposite to the Planetary Rasengan already pressing at the Bijuu Dama.
A sharp wind burst from Ryu's feet anchored his position. He fired.
He kept the wind chakra at exactly the pressure he needed to cut through the oncoming winds.
Minato watched him shape it. No orbital Rasengan this time.
"That one is different," Minato said. "Simpler than the first. It is just wind added to Rasengan, but it still appears to be above A-rank."
The new Rasenshuriken crossed the distance and hit the back of his own jutsu.
The Planetary Rasengan absorbed it. The rotation accelerated. The whole construct pushed forward with a massive surge of force.
The massive sphere started moving back towards the Nine-Tails before ultimately exploding near the fox.
The rebound came immediately. The kinetic energy it had been carrying was released outward in every direction. The largest portion of it travelled straight back down the line of the collision—straight at Ryu.
- Alert: Tenketsu degradation accelerating
- Pain suppression active
Outside, through the blinding flare that washed over the training ground, Mukai's Byakugan caught a split-second window. He saw the outline of a cloak and a halo forming over Ryu's frame. He went very still as the realisation finally hit him.
"Nine-Tails' chakra given form."
No one else saw it. They only understood that something fundamental had changed, that Ryu was gathering chakra into some new, massive state.
Inside the seal, the events that forged that image had begun a few moments prior. The backdraft arrived before anyone could process it.
Ryu extended one hand, palm forward, and formed a single Rasengan threaded with small traces of wind—not enough to be classified as a [Rasenshuriken]. Just a high-density sphere compressed at speed, spin locked in tight, and the entire surface churning.
He drove it forward, towards the oncoming blast. The rotation took care of the rest as the spinning sphere collided with the front edge of the blast force. It didn't stop the force. It broke it up and threw the force sideways in every direction. The air that should have hit him split on either side of the Rasengan's surface and kept going behind Ryu.
A cone of undisturbed air formed behind the grinding sphere, but it was not enough to anchor him completely and also protect Naruto.
The pressure was too powerful. Ryu's feet dragged across the wet floor of the seal space, slow and steady, his body being forced back inch by inch even as he held the Rasengan in place.
Then the golden spheres responded.
The broken constructs, the intact ones, and the shattered shards of his barriers—every last piece of chakra left in the space trembled and pulled towards Ryu. One by one, then several at once, they shot through the air and sank into him.
Ryu felt each entry distinctly. More pressure. More heat. More chakra forced into pathways already close to their limit.
- Alert: External chakra intake rising
- Warning: Chakra Network under heavy load
- Chakra Network expanding
The push did not stop. His heels carved shallow lines through the wet, waterlogged floor as he resisted the force. But the change had already begun.
The last of the spheres struck him and vanished into his body. The golden light around him thickened, then drew inward. By this point, the integration had completed.
His physical form no longer read as a body coated in chakra and the [Golden Aura]; the application of alternating yin and yang chakra into his tissues was no longer just an aura.
He was not wearing the golden light—he was now light itself. Inside the cloak, his face and body were still entirely visible, but they were filtered through the energy, glowing as if he were made of hot molten gold.
On his back, a symbol had formed in bold, dark lines against the glowing coat: a crescent moon encasing a sun, with a horizontal arrow piercing straight through both from left to right. A sequence of tomoe arranged vertically above and below it completed the emblem, old and deliberate.
Above and slightly behind his head, a halo of solid golden chakra had materialised. Sprouting directly from the halo—not from his head—were two asymmetric horns of the same gold, jagged and sharp like antlers.
It was [Chakra Mode] of Ryu with stolen chakra from the Nine-Tailed Fox.
