Chapter 621 - Chapter 621: A Simpler Way Forward

Lothar left in an extremely foul mood.

Noah didn't say anything more.

It wasn't because Noah liked to talk less.

Even if he had stayed silent, someone else would have informed Lothar anyway.

That someone was Khadgar.

The difference was that Khadgar was far more unfortunate.

Not only had his research report been burned to ashes by Medivh, but Lothar didn't trust the young mage either.

Noah was different.

As an outsider, he had behaved exactly as an outsider should.

Waiting.

Not meddling in messy affairs.

And because this mage specialized in space magic, his words carried enough weight to keep Lothar on high alert.

That was precisely what gave Lothar a headache.

The situation was complicated.

Too complicated.

Layers upon layers of trouble, none of which Lothar wanted to deal with.

Watching Lothar's retreating figure, Noah shrugged indifferently.

How Lothar handled it had nothing to do with him.

Noah had no intention of interfering further.

With Lothar gone, Noah's plan to go drinking in Goldshire was completely ruined.

Sitting down on the soft bed, Noah began recalling the movie's plot around this period.

There wasn't much to say.

The key point was Orgrim's betrayal of Durotan, which shattered the possibility of a human-orc alliance.

Then there was Lothar's son, Callum.

Trapped outside the defensive perimeter by Medivh's magic.

Killed by Blackhand right in front of his father.

Thinking about this, Noah's expression became strange.

What about Blackhand now?

In the original story, that guy had his hand blown off by Lothar with a dwarven pistol.

But this time, Noah had barged straight into the Orc ambush.

Blackhand never even met Lothar.

So did that Orc with the severed hand and black iron replacement even exist anymore?

Or had Noah accidentally created a completely new Blackhand?

"I remember admiring an Orc's courage back then," Noah muttered, rubbing his chin.

"I didn't understand this universe yet and didn't want to offend the locals, so I let them go."

"I didn't realize it was that situation."

Thinking it through, Noah suddenly felt he might have done a good deed.

If he had wiped them out back then, none of this negotiation would exist now.

Durotan, the Frostwolf Chieftain, was probably in that forest at the time as well.

A little closer, and Noah might have frozen him into an ice sculpture on the spot.

Noah chuckled quietly.

Some people simply weren't meant to die yet.

That Orc had encountered Noah twice.

And survived both times.

After making a few preparations, Noah left Goose inside the Mirror Dimension.

About an hour later, he regrouped with Lothar and the others.

Noah hadn't expected Llane and Lothar to prepare a carriage specifically for him.

Most likely, his earlier displays of power had made the soldiers uneasy.

That was fine.

Noah had no intention of riding a horse anyway.

If it really came down to trouble, he would rather give Khadgar a ring imbued with spatial magic and tell him to activate it if things went south.

"Master Mage, thank you for coming," Llane said as he rode his horse up beside Noah's carriage once the force set out.

"For someone from so far away, this isn't your responsibility."

"Thank Lord Lothar for what he promised me, Your Majesty," Noah replied casually.

"And while this universe isn't my final destination, taking time to rest, learn, and look around isn't a bad choice."

"I see," Llane said thoughtfully.

"You've been to many... universes?"

The word sounded unfamiliar on his tongue, but he continued using Noah's terminology.

"What are those places like?"

"Too many to count," Noah replied.

With nothing better to do, he didn't mind talking.

He spoke of the Profanity world.

Of Coiling Dragon.

Of medieval Western worlds like The Witcher.

He even mentioned modern settings like Marvel and DC.

If he weren't worried they wouldn't understand, he might have gone into Eastern worlds as well.

Even so, what he shared was more than enough to shock them.

To Llane and the others, only the world of demon hunters sounded remotely reasonable.

The rest felt like myths.

To be honest, they didn't really believe him.

They treated it as listening to fairy tales.

After all, none of them had ever seen power reach such absurd heights.

To them, Medivh was already the strongest mage imaginable.

Noah didn't care.

He was just talking.

Even if he hadn't personally visited all those worlds, it didn't stop countless "pioneers" from doing so.

Even this Warcraft world had countless parallel universes invaded by Noah's fellow transmigrators.

Compared to those scheming old monsters, Noah felt it was better not to compare himself at all.

The journey passed quickly amid conversation.

After a day or two, they finally arrived at the meeting location Durotan had specified.

Northern Elwynn Forest.

A massive black rock formation pierced the clouds.

From a tactical standpoint, it was the perfect place for an ambush.

From within the carriage, Noah had already sensed Orcs hiding beneath the rocks.

Their breathing was controlled.

But the Fel energy gave them away instantly.

Just like the original story.

It seemed Orgrim still didn't trust humans and had informed Gul'dan of Durotan's plan.

Noah shook his head.

When he sensed Medivh's magical fluctuations nearby, he knew the plot was likely repeating itself.

This was the mission where Medivh's mental state finally collapsed.

The first time Fel energy manifested on his body.

Unluckily witnessed by an already suspicious Khadgar.

From there, it all spiraled downward.

After meeting Garona and giving her a flower, Medivh lost control completely.

Sargeras officially took over.

Medivh's fate was tragic.

Given his power, erasing these Orcs should have been effortless.

Instead, he was forced to rely on defensive magic just to hold them back.

Soon after, Llane met Durotan.

With Garona translating, communication went smoothly.

Seeing this, Noah stepped out of the carriage and walked to Lothar's side.

Scanning the surroundings, he spoke quietly.

"Tell your troops to stay alert. Watch the flanks."

"What?" Lothar stiffened, his expression darkening instantly.

"An ambush? We've been tricked?"

"Calm down," Noah said flatly.

"Look closer. The ambushers are all tainted with Fel. I suspect the negotiating Orcs were exposed. Someone betrayed them."

"Damn it," Lothar cursed.

It wasn't clear who he was cursing.

He glanced at Llane.

Then at Durotan, who looked earnest and tense.

Lothar immediately signaled Callum and raised the alert.

Through Garona's translation, Lothar confirmed that Durotan truly came to negotiate.

He was even willing to hand over human captives meant for sacrifice.

With that confirmed, Lothar relaxed slightly.

Politically, he didn't want to think too deeply.

But from a battlefield perspective, this was good news.

At least he wouldn't be caught between two forces.

Stopping more Orcs from crossing over and rescuing the captives took priority.

If negotiations succeeded, dealing with the remaining Orcs later wouldn't be difficult.

Their world was destroyed.

Giving them land could resolve the conflict.

And if it came to war?

Lothar didn't believe the Orcs could win a prolonged fight.

The talks ended quickly.

Just as both sides prepared to withdraw, a green-skinned Orc suddenly rushed out and struck a Frostwolf warrior.

The atmosphere froze.

Durotan's face changed instantly.

This wasn't his doing.

But when he noticed the humans were already prepared, he relaxed slightly.

"Ambush!" Lothar shouted.

"Protect the King! Watch the flanks!"

Stormwind's soldiers moved immediately.

They were veterans.

Warned in advance, they formed ranks at once.

Orcs poured out in waves.

Every one of them was empowered by Fel.

Durotan's warriors were surrounded.

So were the humans.

Watching the seemingly endless Orcs, Noah frowned.

There were more than expected.

He glanced at Lothar.

"So," Noah said casually, "why aren't we retreating?"

"Damn it," Lothar snapped.

"Can you even ride a horse?"

"And don't you know space magic? Open a door and get us out!"

"Oh?" Noah raised a brow.

"You learn fast."

"Less talking!" Lothar barked.

"Move, Master Noah! If we die here, you won't get your reward!"

Noah paused.

Then smiled faintly.

"Actually," he said calmly, "compared to running..."

"I have a better option."

"What?"
